Computer says printer is offline

Until today I have not had any problems printing from my laptop. Today, however, I am getting a message that my printer is offline. The light next to the power button is solid blue. I am not sure why my printer is suddenly offline.Thank you.

Yes I have. This happens every time I replace the ink. Printer working fine until ran out of ink. Bought replacement ink and now it won't work.

Computer says printer HP deskjet F2180 door open but it is closed. Printer seems to be happy and working OK (no lights telling me there is a problem) and when I took the ink cartridges out (21 and 22) then put them back in the printer it printed out the scan document for me. It's just that in the HP printer section on the PC it's saying 1 document in queue and Printer: door open. I've tried everything - switched off everything for 30 seconds etc and time is of essence as I have to have things printed by Saturday pm and collated etc. Please help! Thanks, Lindaeleanor.

Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that your Windows 7 computer says printer HP Deskjet F2180 door open, but it is closed. I am happy to look into this for you!
I would suggest to start by trying out our HP Print and Scan Doctor program, and going through this guide, HP Deskjet, Officejet, Photosmart, and PSC All-in-One Printers - 'Door Open' Error Message Displays .... If those two options do not resolve your issue, proceed with the following:
Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Disable any Antivirus programs. Disable Antivirus software.
Disable any firewall programs. Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
Create a new user account. Managing User Accounts and Logins (Windows 7).
Reinstall using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.

Computer says printer Off line

computer says printer Off line, HP Office Jet 6500 E710n-z Class Driver I try to print and computer says printer is off-line. How do I get it back on-line?

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your Officejet 6500 e710n printer not being able to print. Try shutting if off, then pulling the power out of the back for about a minute. Plug it back in and turn it back on.
If that does not resolve the issue try the HP Print and Scan Doctor. The HP Print and Scan Doctor is a diagnostic tool that will help repair issues.

Hi, try removing your printer and then re-adding it. watch these videos and see if they help. If your printer doesn't show up try adding it through its ip address.

Elite Pad says printer is offline

I have an HP ElitePad and an HP Envy 5530 all in one printer. I have installed the printer. My tablet will recognize the printer for a few day then says that it is offline, but it is not. I have reinstalled multiple times with the most recent driver. Each time, it will recognize it for a few days, then it says that it is offline. I have rebooted both, with no change in status.

I understand your Envy 5530 continuously disconnects from your Elite Pad and you get an Offline message. On the front screen of the printer please touch the Wireless icon. There are 4 icons across the top, the Wireless is the second one from the left. In the Wireless Menu arrow down to Advanced Settings. I would like to turn off the IPV6, arrow down to IPV6 and select OFF.
If the issue persists, please use the following document for additional solutions; Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.

Fingerprint software installed on Macbook says printer offline any suggestions??

Hi all
Am wanting to have the airprint facilty withput purchasing new printer, have installed FingerPrint software and it seems to be working okay, however on iphone it says printer is offline and on on Mac it says printer not conneted. I have a Canon MP600 and a Belkin router, I have done the troubleshooting tips on Fongerprint's website but still no joy.

Well until you can get it printing from the Mac then you won't be able to get it printing from the iPhone.
Some simple things to try;
Turn off the printer for a few minutes, then back on again.
A restart of the Mac can also help sometimes.
Check the USB cable to the printer.
Remove the printer from Print & Scan and add it again.

'printer is offline' message, even though it's not

I'm installing a new HP 4500 to my network at home, currently using my Macbook Air. The software downloaded fine and the setup wizard worked well too, the printer found my network and says that it is connected to it.
when I try to print wirelessly, the window on my laptop says 'printer is offline' and 'printer is not connected' although it clearly is online.
I have no trouble printing through a wire

I understand your are having "Printer Offline" errors with your HP 4500 after you have installed onto your Mac Book Air over your wireless connection but the USB cable connection works without problem. If you could please provide me with the printers Model Number as the 4500 has several possible printers connected to that series name and your Operating System running on the Mac.
I would like you to start with looking into this document as it covers all the Windows & Mac Operating Systems: 'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Will Not Print.
Please reply back with the information requested if the problem is not resolved.

Printer driver offline HP 3050A J611 Series

I upgraded to window 8.1 and I can't print. It keeps saying printer driver offline. I update the driver via hp website and it's still not working. Please help.....

Please Try HP’s Print and Scan Doctor for Windows. The HP Print and Scan Doctor is a free utility (tool) that helps to quickly resolve common printing, scanning and connectivity issues. You can download the HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows from hp.com/go/tools.

(did it print or scan, any error messages)If the Print and Scan Doctor tells you to install the HP Software for your printer. Hello all - I have a desktop and laptop on a home network with a router, hooked up to DSL service. HP 6310xi all-in-one. The network is working but I cannot print from either computer. I have an ethernet cable that was marked "printer to router" when I had to disconnect everything a while back. I assume that it should be connected and it is, but I still have a screen that says the printer is offline. Help please!

Is it a network printer or attached to the computer? Try resetting the printing system, which also affects scanning.

I've literally been looking for this answer for days but I can't seem to find it. My computer says that my HP Photosmart D110 is offline even though the printer says it's connected. I downloaded the HP Print and Scan Dr, hoping it would work but under software status, it says "not installed". It gave me a link to download the full software solution and I downloaded the Driver - Product Installation Software and Software - ePrint, and IT'S STILL FREAKIN OFFLINE!!!
I'm trying really hard not to uninstall the printer because I'm away at college and I left the CD at home and I need to print NOW

My Hp 8500a plus printer keeps saying it is offline and will not print. Was printing now stopped.

I have an HP 8500a plus printer. Lately, when I go to print from Macbook or iPad, it tells me the printer is offline. My printer says it is connected to my wifi but will not print. Printer firmware is up to date. I have changed nothing, and now it will not print. Very frustrated and tired of spending all of this time trying to fix the printer just to print. This is my second HP printer this month and it works sometimes and doesn't work sometimes.
Am I missing something? I don't understand how it can print one day and not the next.

Try this if it is an Airprint Printer.
1. Turn the router, iPad and printer off
2. Turn on the router and then wait 30 seconds
3. Turn on printer and then wait 30 seconds
4. Turn on your iPad and test print.
