Computer screen goes black accessing network folders

We have a computer on our network whose screen goes black when you try to access shared folders on the network.
When working locally it doesn't happen at all. But if you, for instance, open the run command and type in \servername and click OK it'll flash black. Or if you open a file in one of the shared folders on that server.
This is a new one for me. Any ideas on how I could begin troubleshooting? I've verified that the only time it happens is when accessing files/folders
shared on the server and that it only happens on that machine.

Does your computer function properly in safe mode with networking? Follow below step if you do not know how to boot the system into safe mode
with networking

Hello and welcome to the HP support forums. Lets see what we can do to help you with your black screen issue.
When posting here if at all possible please provide your key system .
You have your model and what version of Windows. If possible could you post back with the product number and which version of windows 7. Home, professional, Ultimate. and any service packs that have been installed.
Now here is a link that should help you out in finding what the problem may be and possible ways to solve the issue.

Things you may want to try as well. When you start your computer move the angle of the screen and see if it still has the problem. If the problem goes away you are looking at a cable or connection issue.
If the problem stays the same then you may be looking at a driver or motherboard issue.

Since you have Lion v10.7.4 installed, use Lion Recovery to repair the startup disk if necessary, or reinstall the Mac OS X.

My computer will go blank and black after 15-30 minutes use...or it will freeze up and I cannot use any keys or mouse.
I can reboot after a short term and then the same thing will happen again.

well good sign or good sign maybe a strong word
it mean that not all of the device have been damaged by the fluid
but it does not really mean that the screen will ever work again
when drying in rice make sure you don't
1 conceal it so the vapor can't escape or it will not dry enough
2 make sure to leave in on a heating source like a heated floor or radiator to speed up the proccess of the vaporising

Every time I close my lid to my Macbook Pro, the computer screen goes black and restarts before I can use it again. Any idea how I can fix this?

It's been going on recently and even though I've tried to do an Software Update and click "sleep" before closing the lid, nothing seems to work...

I think the behaviour of closing the lid has changed between "before Lion" and "since Lion" - which OS version do you have? There is a free utility called InsomniaX that help control this behaviour - see http://semaja2.net/archives/206 for more info.

Hi! For the past few days, I'll be reviewing email(Mac) and/or looking at a web page (CNN or eBay) and all of a sudden the computer screen goes black. The mouse will not work, no keystrokes work either. I have to press the on/off switch on the computer, hold it until it shuts down and then restart the computer. I've reset Safari, emptied cache and that's about all I know to do. This problem is very annoying. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thanks

(A) Restart iPad
1. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
2. Drag the slider to turn off iPad.

(B) Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

It does sound like you might have a faulty video connection. See if you can make a Genius Bar appointment at your local Apple Store.

About a month ago I installed an Intego software package on my computer. After it was installed my computer began to randomly freeze. The freezing would start with the screen going black and then fans spinning up. Closing the screen didn't help. Only rebooting did. I have since uninstalled Intego and for about a week my computer seemed fine. Since then, however it has started acting up again. I was looking into the issue you are describing and found a great resource to try and fix the issue without having to re install the OS. It is an article called Mac OS X: How to troubleshoot a software issue found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1199.
I recommend starting here:
The first and easiest test to try is to see if the issue affects a different user account on your Mac. Each user account has customized preferences and other items stored in its home directory. You'll first need to create an additional user if one does not already exist (follow steps a-h below). Then, log out of the current user and test the issue in the new user account.
If this resolves the issue, there may be an issue with a file in the home directory of the original user account.
From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Accounts (or choose Users if using Mac OS X v10.2 or earlier).
Click "+" (or click New User if using Mac OS X v10.2 or earlier).
Give the new user a name and short name.
Mac OS X v10.3 or earlier only: Click the Password tab, and give the user a password.
Mac OS X v10.3 or earlier only: Click Security.
Select the checkbox for "Allow user to administer this computer". This makes the user account an administrator.
Click OK, or quit System Preferences.
Work your way down the article as needed.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Have you just tried repairing with Disk Utility?
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion/Mountain Lion
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.

When I click on video it is stuck on one tv show, when I click 'done' the screen goes black so I can't access any other video that I downloaded from iTunes onto my iPad 2. How do I troubleshoot?

The video on my iPad 2 is frozen on a tv show, although it will play the tv show until the end. PB screen goes black when TV is plugged in

I occasionally plug my PB G4 12" into the TV using the Video Adapter. This used to work fine - the desktop would span both TV and PB screen, just as it does when I have my external monitor plugged in.
But when I upgraded to Leopard this stopped working - when I plug the TV in, the PB screen goes black 90% of the time. And when I unplug the TV the PB screen stays black - I always have to shut the laptop down while the TV is plugged in and start it up once the TV is unplugged. But the PB still works fine when I plug an external monitor in.
Any ideas how to make this work again? Thanks.

Screen goes black when time is announced

When the time is announced (or even tested) the screen goes black and does in most cases come back after shutting off and starting up again.
Other applications, which "speak" to me have no problem.
So it has to be the speech sythesizer of the clock. OR??
Bet no one ever heard of this before.
Can someone help please.
