Computer screen keeps shaking

Hello there:
Hoping someone can help. I have been having problems with a shaky computer screen. It doesn't do it all the time, but it could be when I'm working on a Word doc, Excel doc or even in Dreamweaver.
I've heard it could possibly be static electricity, so removed anything on my desk that could be causing this. But nothing has worked.
Does anyone have any ideas.
Thanks much,
Susan

I'm not what OS you are running on your intel core duo???
However, please tell us what the computer is, an iMac, a laptop or what, so I can ask the Hosts to move your post to the proper forum.

Why does my computer screen keep going dark?

Good. This means that, in your existing account, a setting is bad or .plist file is corrupt. As identifying the rascal may take time, my suggestion is to move data to the new account, must be with administrative privileges. As the contents of each account is unavailable to the other, there are two methods:
    - if you have a backup on an external disk, as you should (if not, consider this seriously, do not count on good behavior of hard disks), make a last backup on the existing account, and restore in the other account; when ready, delete the old (buggy) account
    - if not, save your settings unto a flash drive; this is a limited backup just to avoid putting back settings for Mail etc. I am satisfied with iBackup (grapefruit.ch), but there are other backup utilitites, Time Machine, for example; TM does not allow limited backup, it works if you have a large external disk. If backup disk is not available, move files to shared folder, which is visibile from both accounts, and from there to the new account.
May seem difficult, in fact it is not. You must just move data from one account to another. Now, take care to new apps you install or new functions you activate. When you notice something strange, that may be the cause of this behavior.

  • My computer screen keeps flikering

my screen keeps flasing in every 2 secoonds, happens even on startups and when i turn off my computer!!! can someone pls help me and my resolution is 1440*900,and refresh rate is 60.. thats the only option.

OK that sound like the video card and in the case of an Macbook, that site on the mother board. This will possible mean you have to replace the whole mother board and that is pretty expensive if you don't have an Apple Care pack. back up and get to a service center asap. If it was just parts of a window the where breaking up when you drag a window around, then it could be the firmware and easily fixed.

  • My computer screen keeps going blank and then going back to the box where I put my password in to start my comp. Why is this happening?

My computer (Macbook) was working fine this am. I left it for an hour and then came back and the screen was black (always does that as the screensaver hardly ever works). I moved the mouse to wake it up and everything was normal. I went to adjust the volume and the screen went blank and the main page with the box where I put my password in when I first start my comp appeared. I put my password in and everything was normal again. I opened a window in Safari and before it loaded completely the same thing happened, the screen went blank and went back to the password box. Does anyone know why this is happening? I don't have an external hard drive or any blank flash drives so I can't back anything up right now and am afraid I'm going to lose everything. Thank you

Sounds like hardware failure, called boot loop. Call Apple and or go on apple.com and make Genius Bar appointment to have your iphone reviewed by a Tech. Provided you iphone shows no physical or liquid damage they will take care of you, or if you have Apple Care Plus

    Hi shahminan_bakar,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
As a first step, I would suggest restarting and/or resetting the iPhone:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If you have tried those two things, refer to page 146 in the iPhone User Guide to Reset All Settings:
iPhone User Guide for iOS 7
    manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
If these steps don't resolve your issue, you may need to backup and restore the device:
iOS: How to back up and restore your content

    Hope this helps ...

  • The icons on my iPad 2 keep shaking and then it reboots continuously - NOT CUSTOMISATION

This started on saturday night (it's now tuesday) and I don't know what to do!
I took it into the store and they said they couldn't help, but advised me to do a factory reset, so I did and if anything, it made it worse.
The icons on the home screen keep shaking and jerking around, and when they stop shaking, my ipad goes black, then the apple logo appears, then it goes black again, and this continues for hours. (It's been doing that since sunday night)
At the apple store, they said they could send it off to be repaired for £250! I might as well buy a new tablet! Besides all that, I've only had my iPad 2 for two years, and after spending £400 on a brand new one, I expected it to last longer.
    I'm really disappointed.
    Please help?

You will need to force the iPad into recover mode then restore as new. You may need to try this several times for it to "stick" so don't give up.
    Follw these instructions.

  • My iMac screen keeps showing pixels of previously opened documents and Safari tabs and hour or two after closing them. The shadow of those opened documents are still there hours later after shutting down and restarting my computer. What is happening

My iMac screen keeps showing pixels of previously opened documents and Safari tabs and hour or two after closing them.
Even when I swipe to the dashboard the outlines are still there when I know they should not be.
The shadow of those opened documents are still there hours later after shutting down and restarting my computer.
What is happening and what shall I do? Thanks in advance.

Not much to go on in your product info, but maybe this will help: iMac (27-inch): AMD Radeon 6970M Video Card Replacement Program. If not, then it's time to visit an Apple repair station.

  • Why does my iPad keep moving between screens and shaking?

Why does my iPad keep shaking and/ or move between apps?

No idea why it is doing that, but try rebooting the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • My 2007 MacBook Pro keeps receiving "you must restart you computer" screen upon start up

It all started when i was watching videos online and the screen froze. It did this a couple more times and in between these freezes the computer would occasionally freeze during start up while the gray wheel was spinning.
I was running lion. i decided to reinstall snow leopard (dont ask why) and upon doing so ran into a few troubles such as the compter saying my log in password was incorrect. after sorting all this the computer was fine for a day or so til it froze again, this time while watching a video from a usb flash drive.
from that moment on, i have not been able to get past the "you must restart your computer" screen. I have tried everything i have found in this forum that relates to my problem to no avail.
i have booted in safe mode, booted in terminal mode and checked the hd which is said to be ok, i have resest the ram, and i have tried to boot from install disk (both dvd and usb flash drive)
after i check the hd in terminal, i typed "exit" to reboot and received this message:
    cannot get audit control port
Warning: audit space low <5% free
    systemShutdown false
    along with others
Please help. this computer is my life line and im way too broke to pay for repairs or god forbid a new one

Correct. I mean wipe and install OS X clean. You should be able to install from USB drive or DVD. Restart your MBP and hold 'C' during starup.

You can use the following startup key combinations with Intel-based Macs.

    Description
    Press C during startup
Start up from a bootable CD, DVD, or USB thumb drive (such as OS X install media).
    Press D during startup
Start up in Apple Hardware Test (AHT).
Press Option-Command-P-R until you hear startup sound a second time.
    Reset NVRAM
    Press Option during startup
Start up in Startup Manager, where you can select an OS X volume to start from. Note: Press N to make the the first bootable Network volume appear as well.
Press Eject, F12, or hold the mouse or trackpad button
Ejects any removable media, such as an optical disc.
    Press N during startup
Attempt to start up from a compatible network server (NetBoot).
    Press T during startup
Start up in Target Disk Mode.
    Press Shift during startup
Start up in Safe Boot mode and temporarily disable login items.
    Press Command-V during startup
    Start up in Verbose mode.
    Press Command-S during startup
    Start up in Single-User mode.
    Press Option-N during startup

  • Satellite A215-S4757: screen started shaking, moving up and down

I purchased my laptop about a year and a half ago and had no major problems till this week.
It began a couple of days ago when the image on the screen started shaking, moving up and down and lines started appearing on the screen and going away. I restarted the computer but the screen did not want to power on. After a few tries it eventually came and worked fine for a while before it began doing the same thing again. This happened a few times until yesterday when no matter how many times i tried it did not come on.
I do not think the problem is only with the screen because I have the laptop connected to my TV through the VGA cable and the image on there did the same thing once as well. Also even though the laptop powers up and the power light lights up, the words SATELLITE do not light up unless the screen comes on.
Also the CAPS LOCK key has a light on it that should be lighting up(when pressed) as well if everything is working fine and it does not light up either.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?
    Thank you.

You make a good point but I had a notebook from an other manufacture before this laptop and I kept it going for over a year with several problems, each by itself bad enough to stop it from running. I am not saying I have any kind of skill or expertise but with some advice and assistance I think I can fix this myself. I have read some things online that point to the inverter and I have also found instructions on how to take the laptop apart. I wouldn't be so set against going to the ASP if there were any within 100 miles of me but there aren't. For now I'll have to keep looking.

  • Satellite A300 screen keeps jumping up and down

    Hi,
What is on my screen keeps jumping up and down, any thoughts, is this a problem with video card in Satellite A300?

I have tried to install the display driver from the European website. During uninstallation I got a messgae to say failures occurred during uninstallation, and then during installation I got the message of Install package failure!
I have my external monitor now connected to laptop, but in personalising display settings, I cannot get my computer to recognise that I have two monitors now, as both keep coming up with number 1 (Multiple Monitors) on ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650, and they both have that degraded view, a bit like in safe mode.
So in checking of device manager under display adapters I have:
    ATI Mobility Radeon HD3650
and under Sound, video and game controllers I have:
    High Definition Audio Device
    Realtek High Definition Audio
In this whole process I deleted a file that was previously here called
    ATI HMD...
    should I resinstall this?
So I'm not sure if the new display driver has been installed? help.

  • MacBook Computer Name Keeps Changing

Recently my Mac computer name keeps changing. It's the normal name, but with a number at the end that keeps incrementing. How can I stop this?
I'm not sure if it's something to do with the fact I had a partition for the public OS X Yosemite, which I have now deleted.
    Any ideas? Thanks.

I was having the same problem for awhile, even contacted support so they could screen share and see what I meant.
What I ended up doing was correcting the name and then unchecking all the boxes in Sharing.  Open up Airport Utility and reset the router (basically I changed my password only because that's the easiest way to make it update).  Go back into Sharing and recheck the sharing options that you had previously.  Viola!
So far it's been a week now and my computer name has not changed.  Hope this helps

  • Screen Keeps Freezing & Sleep Wake issues

I have a 17" Macbook Pro and the screen keeps freezing.  The computer doesnt freeze because when i depress the volume buttons i can still hear the beeps or when i hit F8 music from my itunes starts to play.
Also,  60% of the time when my computer goes to sleep I get a blank screen when i try to wake it.  When this happens i have to close the screen for about 2 mins until the computer re-falls asleep.  Once this happens I can then wake it up.
any ideas on the causes of these two issues?

    Hello
    > he told me that the laptop is pretty warm.
Probably this happens due a higher internal temperature
Did your friend already clean the notebook?
There is an interesting article here in forum about cleaning the cooling system of Toshiba notebooks:

  • Settings Screen is shaking sometimes

When I am switching the app ,from some app to Settings ,the screen is shaking including the parent layout fastly/(From left to right). This behaviour is very critical.

turn your phone off by holding the power button until it prompts you to power off. Then turn it back on.
This will reset your springboard and hopefully get that screen back.
You can also plug it into a computer and in iTunes hit "Restore". this should also fix it, make sure you back up your stuff too.
