Computer setup for CS5 Master Collection do I need more Memory?

HI!  I am looking for some big time guidance.  My IT dept. installed CS5 Master Collection on my
desktop. I have a hard time rendering and even in the Media Encoder, as it takes forever for it to finish.  I'm thinking I'm not even close to what I need in terms of memory, etc.  Below is what I have.  Any help would be great!
HP 6005 Desktop
Windows XP- Professional x64 Edition.  Version 2003 SP2  ( I know Premier won't run on this system, so we have CS4 Premier Pro on it, it's still slow.)
AMD Phenom X4 B95
2.99Ghz
2.75 GB of Ram
149GB capacity on C drive ( I keep all my files on an external 1TB drive).  Currently says I have 103GB used and 45.5 Free.
ATI Radeon HD 4200
Thanks!
P

XP64 is unsupported!
You need a new operating system and a boatload more RAM. That's a low end machine and isn't up to the high end tasks.
With Win 7 you might get away with web design work but forget it for video.

  • Hard Drive setup for CS5 master collection

    Dear All,
I am looking for advice on what drive configuration to use. I am currently reformatting all drives for a new cs5 install and have the following drives:
    1. WD Raptor 10000rpm 150gig
    2. WD Raptor 10000rpm 300gig
    3. Seagate 7200 rpm - 1.5tb
    4. Seagate 7200 rpm - 1.5tb
I have read various forum messages, but need some clarification on what to install on what drive
I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit with 6 gig memory and i7 processor
I assume windows is best installed on either of the faster WD drives. and my  video projects on the seagate drives.
Where should cs5 program files be ?
I have raid options but dont know a lot about the best set up
Any advice most welcome, would like to try to get it right first time!
    Regards
    Chris Anderson

    Hi Harm
many thanks for your reply. I am considering purchasing new HD's specific to build a machine just for CS5.
What would you recommend for performance. No price budget as such.
    Im thinking 15000rpm.
Im thinking SATA - is this the fastest?
Do i have to consider the motherboard to support fast sata drives? - i am confused as i see you can get sata drives with a 6gig transfer speed, does this depend
    on the motherboard?
Would a bigger cache ie 64mb make a good improvement?
    Any advice most welcome
    Thanks

  • Wondering if my computer is ok for CS5 Master collection

This is my computer info. (whitch I don't know what everything means)  I was wondering if I perched  Adobe Creative Suite CS5 Master Collection, would it run properly on this Computer & if not!! what else would I have to add to this computer to run the CS5 M. C?
I have been using from 6.0 to CS3  PhotoShop, Preimere Pro, & Encore, for a few years now, & I'd like to get into AF, I don't know much about computers, I just know how to use the three Adobe programs that I have been using.
I have been watching a lot of tutorials of CS5 & they look awesome!!!
So if you could let me know What I need to do to my computer so I could run all the CS5 M.C.  programs
I will take it to my Computer guy & let him add to this computer, But I don't think he knows about all the video stuff, so I would have to let him know what I want & need.

  • Buying the right Lenovo w530 for CS5 Master Collection; I should be smarter, but time is an issue!?!

    Hi Everyone
I'm buying a Lenovo w530 for graphic design and video editing on CS5 Master Collection - the whole package!
I have various solutions for HD setup, but no knowledge of hardware or setup in general for a complete machine where the various parts complement each other in a way that there is no obvious bottleneck coming up to fast.
RAID 0 SETUP ON A LAPTOP VERY IMPORTANT???
I'm following lynda.com for various online lessons as this is not my primary occupation, and one of the instructors stresses the need for a raid 0 setup.
Having to do this means ordering directly from Lenovo in the US, because they need to install another devise in the machine.
I prefer not to as I live in Denmark. It's so much easier dealing with local suppliers, and the possibilities that’s already in the machine. I realize that in desktop systems you'll prefer larger solutions with more drives and faster connections. In the Lenovo I’m limited by different setups.
HARD DRIVE SETUP - SSD or 7200 for OS and then what for working disc???
Do I really need raid 0 on a laptop for working files (small web videos) or will SSD Sata III do?
    For OS:
Should I go for a 7200 drive as OS drive and an SSD as secondary drive in the DVD slot via an adapter?
Or should I go for an SSD drive as OS drive, and also as a secondary drive in the DVD slot. (what sizes should they bee)
    CPU
Intel Core i7-3820QM 2,7GHz Quad Core (3,7Ghz Turbo)
    Ram
    16 or 32 mb
    Harddisk
    500 GB 7200RPM
    2GB NVIDIA Quadro K2000M + Intel HD Graphics 4000 (Optimus auto-switch)
    CD/DVD
Serial Hard Drive Bay Adapter III with secondary SSD Sata 3 harddisc, could be something from
120 GB SSD Intel 520 Series
160 GB SSD Intel 320 Series
180 GB SSD Intel 520 Series
240 GB SSD Intel 520 Series
480 GB SSD Intel 520 Series
600 GB SSD Intel 320 Series
    or
    CPU
    Intel Core i7-3720QM 2,6GHz
    Ram
    16 or 32 mb
    Harddisk
240GB SSD(odd size but thats what it says)
    Videocard
    2GB NVIDIA Quadro K2000M + Intel HD Graphics 4000 (Optimus auto-switch)
    CD/DVD
Serial Hard Drive Bay Adapter III with secondary SSD Sata 3 harddisc, could be something from
120 GB SSD Intel 520 Series
160 GB SSD Intel 320 Series
180 GB SSD Intel 520 Series
240 GB SSD Intel 520 Series
480 GB SSD Intel 520 Series
600 GB SSD Intel 320 Series
Back up is intended from the usb 3 port to some disc - haven't looked at it yet.
    FIRST BOTTLENECK?
I hope my system will recognize the NVIDIA card as a friendly given that’s it’s so much newer than my Master Collection CS5.
I'm curious as to where in this system the first bottleneck will be when I start working.
Processor, RAM, Graphics card, hard disc setup
Can anyone recognize this straight away?
Does anyone know how the Graphic cards it handles effects in PP?
I'll be glad for all help I can get BEFORE 1 of Jan where part of my funding vanishes...
al best and happy holidays to all

I do not own and have never used a W530, however having played with various laptop and desktop setups running CS5 I have the following to offer you:
    - Suggest the i7-3720QM over the more expensive and ever so slightly faster i7-3820QM CPU
    - Suggest sticking with the K2000M vs. the K1000M with 1/2 the number of cores (you will need to do the ever so common "hack" for Adobe to recognize this GPU; don't worry, this is not a risky step, you simply need to find and delete a text file after installing the software)
    - You can go with either a 7200 rpm boot or SSD choice for the OS / programs; the SSD will perform normal PC chores faster, but the performance level of the boot drive will not impact Premiere Pro as much as the additional drive(s) that you have
    - Suggest you get a third party solution for adding the optical bay 2nd HD (or SSD); I would choose the 750GB Seagate Momentus to insert into it (NewModeUS, eBay sellers, etc.); this will save you a lot of money and will work just fine.
    - In the USA you can request 16GB in 2 sticks so presumably you could expand to 32GB later with minimal cost; do this if you can
    - Suggest start with W530 loaded and configured with Adobe and see if it performs fast enough for you. And, if you want more speed, you could add a USB 3.0 (W530 does not support eSATA like the W520 did) external drive to give you a bit more performance.
    - Of course big, fast, expensive SSDs would be faster (and smaller) for your optical bay and / or USB 3.0 connected drives, but they are very expensive (per GB) compared with 7200 laptop drives and you most likely will be just fine without it.
I found the link about the guy who purchased a W530 for use on a sailboat, but I see you already found it! (you posted to it).

  • Acrobat Pro 9 Extended not available for CS5 Master Collection

    Hello Forum Folks:
I have a volume license account with 5 CS5 Master Collections.
As part of the CS5 MC suite Acrobat 9 Pro is included.
I was told by a sales rep that Acrobat 9 Pro Extended cannot be purchased as an upgrade from a suite product.
If I choose to purchase Acrobat 9 Pro Extended it would be as a stand alone product license at full price for all five licenses.
    MY DILEMMA:
I only need one of the features that Acrobat 9 Pro Extended offers that's not included in the Pro version.
If I purchase 5 stand alone copies of Acrobat 9 Pro Extended, I will have 5 additonal licenses of Acrobat
outside of my 5 CS5 Master Collection licenses to keep up with.
So in effect I'll have 10 licenses of 2 different versions of Acrobat 9 Pro and Extended to upgrade
sometime in the future in order to keep all uniform and in sync.
This is not an efficient nor economical way to stay current with Adobe's fine products.
The Case manager I spoke with did a fine job attempting to assist me but was unable to find an effective solution.
She recommended that I post on the forum and an Adobe staff member might be able to contact me
and address my concerns. Case Number: #204262178
    Thank You / Peace

I respect that you are employed by MicroSoft, but the compatability center is not always accurate.  It indicated that Adobe Pro 8 was compatabile for both 32 bit and 63 bit - but it is not.  I have upgraded to Adobe Pro 9 Extended because Adobe says that this is compatable with 64 bit.  The Microsoft compatability center also says that v9 is compatable with 64 bit.  But it is Not.  I have upgraded Adobe to 9.3.0, and it is Still not working.  I now have $700 invested in Adobe software that is non-functional due to W7 64 bit.
So although users can check the compatability center - as I did prior to purchasing my new laptop - but it may not be accurate.
And yes, I have updated the compatability center to indicate that the information there is incorrect.
I have searched/googled everything that I can think of, and still nothing helps.  If you have a suggestion how to make this work, I am listening.

  • I currnently own a Macintosh computer with Creative Suite Master collection and I need help

I own a Macintosh computer with Creative Suite master collection and I just recently bought a Windows 8 computer that I want to use Creative Suite on also, I do not want to buy a brand new product as I have proof of ownership on my Creative Suite, is there ANY way I can get around buying a new product? I own the item for Mac I just want it for windows also, any answers will be appreciated!

It depends. If it's a CS6 suite you can apply for a platform change to Windows free of charge, but you terminate your Mac license.
CS5, you would pay an upgrade fee and be able to change the license.
CS4 and below... you have no options other than buying a Full Windows version of CS6.

  • Choosing Computer for CS5 Master Collection

Hi.  I've been reading the posts for a while, but only joined the community today.  I could really use some help.
I need to purchase a computer for a new business and the computer needs to run CS5 Master.  I am guessing I can't find a suitable system on Dell.  I'm not a hardware expert so I'm not interested in buying parts and putting a pc together by myself.
Does anyone know of a computer system I can purchase with the necessary system requirements?  I've spent a good deal of time looking at different systems online and they are all missing certain components... like the right graphics cards.
    I'd really appreciate any recommendations!

    Thanks for the response Bob!
I'd be willing to spend up $2000 or more for the right machine.
I could probably even get away with the Creative Suite except for some video editing I will need to do.
I will be using CS5 to:
Create JPGs to serve as pages of picture books.
Make JPGs into pages of a PDF.
    Video:
    Edit video
Add graphics to video (like logos)
    Make videos web-ready.
    That's about it.
Thanks for any extra help you can offer.  I couldn't seem to piece together the right system on Dell.

  • What system would you recommend for CS5 Master Collection?

    Hi All,
Hoping to get input on a recommended system configuration for having a computer that has enough under the hood to handle CS 5 in full.
I have been searching around and it seems like Adobe has links to three different suppliers:
    Dell
    HP
    Lenovo
However nowhere in any of those links are recommended system configs for CS 5 with prices.
In reviewing what Adobe has to say they pretty much state to handle the full advantages that CS 5 Master Collection can offer you need:
    16 - 32 gbs of RAM.
Beast of a Nvidia Graphics Card (only 5 models supported as of yet)
Lotsa cores like 12 or more...
Checking HP and a couple configurations with the HP Z800 shows a system that ranges $13k - $16K. Ouch ouch ouch. I haven't bought an HP in almost ten years because I always found they were overpriced with proprietary parts that made easy swap out of parts impossible. Don't know if that is still the case.
Haven't figured out how to get the Dell Precision 7500 configured the way I want it and can't really tell if it is designed to handle maximum firepower or not.
If there any Beastmasters out there who can chime in on recommendations and models, it'd be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    TCF

I say build your own. Get a semi good i7, stock up on several minimum gpus if you want multiple monitors, I'd say probably 12 gig of low range ddr3. Not hard to set up raid array. All for around 1800.

  • Hardware for New User of CS5 Master Collection

I just ordered a copy of CS5 Master Collection and was wondering what new desktop hardware setup I should get.  I'm interested primarily in website developement.  I would like to get a machine that could be expanded just in case I decide to get into video editing and such.  I have found a basic system that I can purchase for $2258. that can be upgraded from the basics offered before I purchase it.  Here are its specs:
Hewlett Packard Z400 Workstation - Embedded 1394 Firewire Adapter
Xeon® Quad-Core Processor W3550 (3.06 GHz, 8 MB cache, 1066 MHz memory) Supports Turbo Mode up to 3.33 GHz
    12GB of DDR3 1333 MHz ECC RAM
6 DIMM Generation 2 System Architecture, supports up to 24GB
    nVidia FX3800 1GB Video Card
Dual  Layer DVD/RW Drive with LightScribe
    320GB 7,200RPM SATA-II w/NCQ Hard  Drive
    Integrated SATA RAID
475W 85% efficient power supply; wide ranging, Active Power Factor Correction
Windows 7 64-bit plus  Windows XP Pro 64-bit
Full 3 Year HP On-Site Warranty!
What delivered hardware would you change?
What suggestions would you have on upgrades I should do to the system before delivery?
    Thanks,

What delivered hardware would you change?
    The HP system.
HP is not bad, but it is expensive, it comes with a proprietary and underperforming PSU, that can not be exchanged, it is not capable of overclocking, it has very limited expansion capabilities, it only comes with a single disk drive, an outdated mediocre video card, etc. and if you add anything to the system, they steal you blind.
You are much better off with a build it yourself system or go to a custom builder like ADK.
Start by reading the articles that appear in the drop down box when you click the Overview tab, then look around this forum where there are lots of threads about systems and their configurations.

  • Notebook Specs for Adobe CS5 Master Collection

Hi guys, I am currently in process of buying a new notebook.
I will be running a Adobe CS5 Master Collection and few other programs.
Can you guys let me know what are best specs that this notebook must have?
I know Mac is best option but my company is not willing to get one, they are willing to settle for HP / Dell / etc…
I will need this notebook to handle multiple applications at a time (dreamweaver, illustrator, photoshop, etc etc…).
I dont want the basic specs, what more can i include to get this notebook running like a super machine?
    eg. 8GB Ram, i7 processor?
    What do you guys advise?
    Thank You
    Bradley

I was curious about your experience with CS5 Master Collection, since I purchased the CS4 Master Collection more than a year ago.
I had previously bought the CS3 Master Collection and upgraded.  The original CS3 collection was reasonable to work with because there was a  Disc for each different program.  If you needed to reload a program you could figure it out.  When I upgraded to CS4 which was a decent price, I figured what I would get would be comprehensible in the sense that CS3 was.  What I received was (I believe 5 discs...I don't have them with me) labeled Content
and Applications.  It wasn't long, because of the general 64-bit confusion, that one of the programs (Acrobat Pro) became corrupted.  I wasn't sure which disc or discs to load.  There are absolutely no instructions or anywhere you can go to find them.  Adobe provides nothing for Master Collection
owners, or rather up-graders...try sending an email...good luck.  Try calling...to find out how to load a program?  By the way when I try to load one of the Content discs, I get a message that says my laptop, with all the bells and whistles, and which originally accepted the Master Collection, cannot load the software, whatever that means.  I wrote several emails to Adobe asking for help, I'll even pay for it...no answer.  I also subscribe to the Professional Photographers podcast and Adobe is frequently mentioned as having terrible customer service and having over-priced software.  I'm seriously thinking of alternatives, but everyone uses Photoshop, which you're probably better off buying by itself.  Or, you could wait for another frustrated customer to post his/her complaint to the Adobe Forums.  I don't think the Adobe administrators will let this be posted, but please, be forewarned about the terrible customer service.

During CS5 master collection update on Windows 7, 64-bit laptop, I get the error "There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later." This has been happening for the past few days. Can someone help me getting my updates?

Since CS5 is from 4+ years before the Cloud, this is not the right forum... but I don't really know a correct forum for that very old product
Have you tried to manually update the individual programs?
All updates start here and select product, read to see if you need to install updates in number order, or if the updates are cumulative for the individual product http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/

  • CS5 Master Collection installs Application Folders for unselected apps

I elected to install only some of the applications from the CS5 Master Collection but the installation created several folders for apps I did not install.
These folders have the application in them BUT the application will not launch.
For example, I did NOT install "Premier Pro CS5" but there is a foler in Applications called "Adobe Premier Pro CS5".  In this folder I see "Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.app".  If I click on that I get the message:
"You can't open the application Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 because it may be damaged or incomplete."
    Is this normal?
Why would folders and non-functioning apps be installed when they were specifically NOT excluded by me during the install process.
I'd like to fix this without messing up anything.  There's no "unisntaller" in these situation.
    Thanks!

I have exactly the same problem and situation with CS5 production premium.
I reinstalled after PC re-build and it won't update. The Manager actually downloads all the apps (tried several times now and it downloads the 512MB of files) and then says there was an error. If I click on the customer support link it takes me to a page on Adobe about serial number problems : http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-serial-number-qualifying-product.html.
Suggests a serial number issue, but it is correct and the base product from discs installed and registered correctly.
Come on Adobe is this your way of forcing us to the cloud? How do we update products?
