Computer speed limitations for FoxPro 2.6

what are the computer speed limitations for FoxPro 2.6 MS but not Visual
I have done the patch to run on my with windowsXP
How many EZpatch versions are there?
Is the a way to run on a windows7 64bit computer.
I have graphics BUT
Body text cannot contain images or links until we are able to verify your account.
How do I do the verify?

FoxPro 2.6 either DOS or Windows as a 16 bit application cannot run on W7/64. You have to install some DOS emulator or Windows XP in Virtual PC environment.

  • 2009 Macbook issue: download speed limitation

    Hi
Mi wife got a late 2009 white macbook that's driving me crazy. Despite we got a 7Mbit ADSL connection and all others macs at home (we got 2 more 2008 macbooks and a 2008 macbook pro) with the very same OS version (10.6.4) and network settings are working properly and downloading at full speed, her one looks to have some kind of speed limitation in download to around 1.5 Mbps.
The ping and upload speeds are the very same of other computers, and apparently randomly the download speed also on that computer gets back to around 7 Mbps...
I just spent the afternoon doing tests and I got nowhere but maybe I found a pattern...
    First what I excluded:
-doesn't depend on how it's hooked to the net, same behavior by ethernet or wifi in both cases the other service was off
-any other mac using the same connection is working properly, did side by side tests
-ping is always the same on both computers used for test
-it is not a DNS issue
-deleted and created a new position in Network panel
    -did several restarts, no solution
-doesn't depend on a specific app being used (but maybe apps can matter, see below)
-none of possible fixes I found online did work
-probably it isn't related to OS version or updates, this issue has likely been there since a lot of time, and over more os updates (not really sure of this, we had unrelated netwok issues and changed provider for that reason in last year, we cot a stable and uniform environment just recently)
    Now what I noticed:
-As soon as the computer is started and I open a single browser (be it Safari, Chrome or Firefox doesn't change) speedtest.net test is ok, 7Mbps download.
-work and navigate with it, it's ok, download speed remains 7Mbps
-As soon another internet using application is opened (Mail, another browser) the connection speed drops to 1.5 Mbps (this is ALWAYS the limit, no relevant fluctuation in this)
-If I close any of above apps and remain with a single browser, running tests initially report still the 1.5 limit, but shortly after (one or two minutes) the speed gets back to 7Mbps
My wife needs to work with Mail, Skype, and at least two browsers open, so this limit is giving her great troubles

This doesn't really help narrow down the problem
    {quote}
doh, you are right... sorry... the possible fixes I had found around are the ones reported right before...
Create a new user account on the problem computer and see if the slow speeds and strange behaviour persists in it.
    I did, it does...
    - created a new user and logged in
    - opened Safari, speedtest returns 7Mbit/s in download
    - opened Firefox, after a little speed drops to 1.4
    - some successive test starts slow (1.4) then sometimes speeds up, but most remain at 1.4
    - start chrome too, same behaviour
    - close Safari and Firefox, wait a little (1 or 2 minutes) do the test with Chrome, back to 7Mbit/s
Then go through stuff like this http://www.gballard.net/macrant/osx_troubleshooting.html.
I went through it and did most of what's suggested there (it's a little complex because when I am not working my wife is usually using her macbook to study and needs to use it all the time)...
    - unused disk space is 95,6 GB
    - booted in single user mode and did a fsck -fy
    - repaired permissions
Nothing changed, both the behavior takes place in new user account, and in main one, where any internet using application (Mail, Skype...) opened together causes the download slow down...

  • MSI CR52-A2 speed limitation

At DAO-RAW and DAO/96 this drive tops at 16x. Since at all other modes tops at 52x there is clearly a speed limitation. I've contacted MSI and they told they are trying to solve the problem. In the meantime I found out that Optorite makes burners for the MSI. they are identical. Some people have used optorites firmware and they work just fine. Has anyone here used a optorite's firmware? And if yes, at what speed can u write at DAO-RAW (clonecd)?
    Thanks in advance

do u mind if I ask where did u get that info from?
Anyway, I don't know if they release a firmware that fixes that problem. I can only assume how stupid are people at MSI releasing a product which has this problem in the "most wanted" write mode all over the world. Unless they did that on purpose.
And of course I am not excluding myself from being stupid because I "didn't do my homework" before I buy this cd recorder.I should have known better.
And boy that msi support. I am in contact with them for over a month about this "DAO-RAW" problem and they keep doing stupid questions to me. These people over there really need some computer education. We are talking about THE most f*cking amateurs all over the world.

  • I have a new Windows tablet computer with limited hard drive space, and cannot transfer my itunes library to the hard drive. Can I run t media from an external hard drive? If so, how do I transfer my files?

I have a new Windows tablet computer with limited hard drive space (32 GB), and cannot transfer my itunes library to the hard drive. Can I run itunes from an external hard drive? I have tried to follow some of the directions on this site, but am having no success. Thanks.

iTunes will run fine with the media on an external drive.
However, I suggest that a tablet computer with a tiny hard drive is not ideal as the primary computer for managing an iTunes library, even a small one. If you have another machine, perhaps a big, boxy, inexpensive old desktop with a decent amount of storage, that might be a better choice.

  • Good Premiere pro Cs5.5 Video Editing Computer Set Up For Under $3000

Hey everyone im hopeing to hear for Harm Millaard input on this and anyone elses who understands PC computers for video editing. I need to build a computer set up for my specific needs. I am a youtuber who makes videos for a living and I need a speedy computer for editing primarily in premiere pro CS5.5 and sometimes in After effects. I use magic bullet 2.0 color grading in almost all my videos so that slows my computer down alot. The current computer I have now shuts off when ever it runs to much stuff and gives me the BSOD so its extreemly fusterating because editing something small can take me all day because of the constent shutting off. Mostly does BSOD when I uses Magic Bullet 2.0 I shoot with DSLR footage but once in a while it will happen out of the blue when running alot of things but mostly when exporting. I need a list of specs that will all work together to give a perfect workflow for my needs and I also would like advice on what Raid because I dont fully understand it as well as what back up drives etc should I have. I plan of buying the specs and having someone build it for me and set up raid etc that knows how to do all that. In case some of you wonder what type of computer I have now these are the specs if you need more information on what I have in my computer ask exactly what info you want to me to tell you and ill look it up.
If you have advice on specs I dont have to re-buy that I could take out of this computer to save money then that would be better as well. I currently have no back up external drives as well so Idk what I should buy for that as well. Thank you all for your time a head of time!

Well!!!!.....where do I start??  You must spend some time here reading all the valuable info that has been presented and discussed many times here. Basically, PPro is a very demanding , PROFESSIONAL program that needs beefy and SPECIFIC hardware to run properly.
AMD CPU will not cut it.....it lacks the necessary instruction set that Intel has that apply to video processing.
You need a fast Intel i7 CPU for starters.
You do not mention video card.....NVidia CUDA card of over 1GB video memory is required to enable the "Mercury PlaybackEngine", which provides a TEN TIMES INCREASE  in rendering speed of previews.....not to mention accelerating the export process by handling some specific effects during export.
Some DSLR codecs,( like Canon MOVs) cause PPro....which is a 64bit program..... to open the 32 bit " Quick time Importer" process, ( as Quick Time is 32 bit), slowing down the process, even with good hardware. Editing highly compressed consumer codecs,( AVCHD,etc.) in real time ,then exporting can be very taxing on a computer, requiring top -notch components. Even if you do it the old way and transcode to a more edit friendly codec before editing.....you would then need a larger, faster disk system to handle the huge files at a high speed!!!
16GB system memory is OK for 5.5.....with 6 and later, 32GB is better.
Two separate hard drives are the required minimum for PPro......currently, the best performing and cheapest setup would be : C drive=  120GB quality SSD, D drive = 2x 7200 RPM HDDs in onboard RAID 0 for pagefile, previews, and all cache files.  E drive= same setup as "D", for media, project files, and export.  F drive =  large 7200 rpm disk for necessary backup of important files and backup of "D" drive. All drives should "indexing" and" compression" turned OFF,( under drive Properties window).
Less expensive would be just three separate 7200 RPM HDDs...that could be OK with just DSLR footage which is so compressed that it requires less actual MB/sec., unless you are using many tracks of video, upping the requirement needed.
Read the many posts and articles by Harm Millard and Bill Gehrke....they have contributed a tremendous wealth of knowledge and experience to the readers.....preventing many from making bad purchases and expensive mistakes when trying to construct a machine that will perform well....their website, PPBM5 is invaluable as it can show you all the video benchmark results of differently configured machines. It is a good guide as to what you may want to build,or, purchase.....Good Luck!!

  • What is sync speed limited by?

Assuming my line is all ok, what is sync speed limited by?
The reason i ask is im told my exchange and line is rated for 2 meg (which i was syncing at around 2.5), on sppedtest was getting 2 meg download...so all is looking well...but then randomly one saturday (about 2 weeks ago) i changed over a filter and disconnected the extension wiring, reset the home hub and synced at 3.9 meg, with a nice SNR of 5.9db. Obviously i was well impressed as my speed went up!
Why was this sync different? As im yet to get anywhere near that again?

    neild7744 wrote:

It's essentially governed by the characteristics of the line. Even if the line is OK, it'll still have properties that could limit the possible speed to an extent. eg lines all attenuate the signal, even good lines.
There are other factors, "hard" caps for example can be imposed by the hardware, possibly due to the service you're buying. An "up to 8Mbps" service will never go faster than that, even if the line is capable.
The reason i ask is im told my exchange and line is rated for 2 meg (which i was syncing at around 2.5), on sppedtest was getting 2 meg download...so all is looking well...
Not really relevant to your question, but...while your line may well be "rated for 2 meg" the exchange will be capable of more than that. If you get anything less, it's due to one of the reasons above.
but then randomly one saturday (about 2 weeks ago) i changed over a filter and disconnected the extension wiring, reset the home hub and synced at 3.9 meg, with a nice SNR of 5.9db. Obviously i was well impressed as my speed went up!

On the face of it, it sounds as though either the filter or the extension wiring is causing some noise/interference on the line, which was slowing things down.
If this behaviour is consistent and repeatable, it should be fairly easy to find and eliminate the cause, which may give a very worthwhile improvement to your speed.

  • FileVault -- computer speed crawls

I used FileVault today to encrypt files - reduced computer speed drastically. What is the solution?

Unless you really need encryption (and FileVault is not the best), I suggest leaving it off, if it is not too late.
TimeMachine backups are not regular (only after you log out and wait for the backup to finish) and you cannot extract individual files from a FileVaulted TM since your entire User folder is treated as a single file. Also, because your User directory is a single file, any minor change in almost any file will result in a new, complete backup of your User folder. This is probably why you see the system slowing down.
I would suggest putting those files that need to be encrypted on a FlashDrive or some other external protected medium. Using FileVault is fraught with problems such as those I describe and more. Undoing FileVault can be a major task.

  • How do I set access time limits for my kids devices?

I had a Time capsule installed.
How do I set time limits on my kids devices or can I?

You can set individual daily time limits for any wireless devices that connect to the network using the Timed Access feature in AirPort Utility.
First look carefully on the back or bottom of each of your kids' devices for label that has a MAC Address. This is an ID number that will have a form of  xx : xx: xx : xx : xx : xx.  The "x" can be either a letter or number.
Write down each MAC Address carefully, noting which device is which.
Post back when you have done this. Do not post these ID numbers....just let us know that you have them in hand.
We will also need to know what operating system that you are using on the computer that is used to configure the Time Capsule.
If you have a Mac, and are not sure what operating system it is using.....click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the Mac's screen, then click About This Mac. Post back with the OS X Version number that you see there.

If your needs are limited to those tasks then both Preview and iPhoto will fit the bill They are already on your Mac. There is a free download from Google called Picasa available here:
    http://picasa.google.com/
It works much the in same manner as iPhoto. For some really heavy duty work there is GIMP available from SourceForge:

  • Update maps when roads and speed limits change

Is there any way to update the maps frequently to get the latest changes to speed cameras, speed limits, road changes etc? Or do you have to reload the map every now and then? I had a TomTom before and every time I connected it to the computer there was several updates installed. I have a N97 btw.
    Former owner of E90, N97 x2, E72, N8 and current owner of E7.

The best way to update your maps regularly is to delete all maps and then redownload the ones you need using Nokia Map Loader. Maps could be updated up to 4 times a year.

  • How do I set time limits for my iphone?

You know how there are parental controls on the macs in the settings. In there you can set up time limits of how long you can use the computer for but I can't find it on the iphone where you can set time limits for use. I looked at the restrictions sections but I don't see anything on setting time limit. How could I set time limits for use on my phone? I go on my phone too much and I really have to set restrictions to limit my time on it.

There are apps you can download i believe to do this.

  • What's the minimum Clock Speed Requirement for GB3?

What's the minimum Clock Speed Requirement for GB3 (assuming one wishes to create and play mult. audio tracks within this current iLife app)? Is it 733mhz?
Here's what i was able to find on
    iLife ’06 requirements:
    To install iLife, you need:
    • A Macintosh computer with a PowerPC G4, G5, or Intel Core processor; 733 MHZ or faster required for iDVD
    • 256 MB of RAM; 512 MB recommended
    • Mac OS X version 10.3.9 or Mac OS X version 10.4.3 or later; Mac OS X version 10.4.4 recommended
    • iTunes 6.0.2 and QuickTime 7.0.4 (included)
    • A DVD drive for installation
    • 10 GB of disk space to install iLife '06 applications

    Thanks Christoph, TIA, and AppleGuy!
Christoph, what model are you using? You said you have even less Mhz, but your model looks like the same as mine.
TIA, I looked at the other thread (thanks for the link) any idea what other models are affected by the sound output problem?
I probably will back up first just to be safe, and won't try running them both at the same time. I was hoping though to have full functionality of the Podcasting features plus all the old music ones without slowing the machine down.

  • Any possibility to define variable limits for alarms

    Hi,
I need to define variable LO and HI limits for alarms. That is, these LO and HI limits should be linked to different tags.
In the tag configuration editor, we can only give constant values to the LO and HI limit fields. Is there a way to associate tags to these fields, instead of constant values?

    Hi helene.
My implementation to this was to use the tag Attribute VI's and have a seperate program that checks that the current HI or LO value with that of a tag storing my HI set point and another Tag Storing my LO Set point. If there is a diffrence in value, the appropriate alarm level gets changed to match the current value.
How are you changing your values? I have a slider on the front panel that triggers and event on change to update the tag.
However a point you may or may not have noticed is that if you change the LO or HI value using the Tag Attribute VI's on one computer, this change is not carried across to others. You will have to programatically run the update program mentioned above continuously on every computer running the system
This is a very large mine field that you will have to take extra care of. Think about what would happen on startup of the various clients, will there be a point when your computers fall out of sink with each other? will the current alarm set points be reatined when the computer is shut down and restarted?
I sent a very long time coming up with some solutions for all these problems. Which way you chose to do this depends on:
    Number of computers
    Frequency of limits changes
Number of tags you wich to change
Whether you system is server client or multi server based.
Let me know If you want to know more.

Also, do these specs/available slots allow for adding a Solid State Drive? Can't find info on available slots..

Must be based on the fact that the very best AMD based system, a FX8350 octo core, scores only 675 seconds in the benchmark, slower than about 85% of the Intel systems. Other AMD systems are even slower. Most Intel quad cores are much faster and even an average laptop with an Intel quad core CPU is about two times faster than the best AMD system. This AMD system is almost 7 times slower than the fastest single CPU Intel system and other AMD systems are around 10 times slower.
From the article linked to above:
As a general rule of thumb, AMD CPU's are not worth considering at all, since they suffer severely from the very limited and badly implemented support of SSE 4.x instructions, which are widely used in PR. That makes these processors very slow, even in the 8-core versions. You get what you pay for, and with AMD that holds very much. Even though Adobe claims AMD processors can be used, that is intended more to make PR look attractive, but it really means you can install the program on an AMD machine, however you can't edit effectively with such a CPU. Even the latest octo-core AMD's are significantly slower than middle-of-the-road Intel quad cores. If you have an AMD processor, do not expect to edit comfortably any codec more demanding than DV. All phone or action camera formats are way beyond what an AMD can handle.
Does not look like a bias, but a plain statement of easily checked facts.
