Computer turned off while iPod Touchcharged for the first time.

Hey. I got an iPod Touch and turned it on and used it for a bit before charging it fully. When I was charging it, I was syncing music and listening to it off the iPod speakers. Bfore it was fully charged the comuter shutoff (ranout of battery). I read you should charge iPods fully right before doing anything. Manual didnt say anything about this though. I'm going to continue charging now. Is it okay?
Thanks.

I doubt it. Just use the iPod

The ipod is restored, but cloud not downloading any of my messages and pictures, and the other files that iCloud claims to back up?
How do I put these on my restored itouch?
    Thanks everyone

What messages? What app? The backup includes Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS),
What photos? How did the photos get on the iPod
The backup only includes photos in the iPod's camera roll album.

  • I turned on my Macbook pro for the first time and the mouse is frozen

I turned on my Macbook pro for the first time and the mouse is frozen since the first screen. I did the start up, but using the comands on the keyboard. I think the laptop is configured to blind people. I just got at the desktop, but the mouse is frozen.

If this is a new machine, you have 14 days to return the machine for an exchange or a full refund. Your trackpad should work out of the box and what you're seeing onscreen may very well be settings for the partially sighted.

Hi. Sure, you can use your iPhone when charging (but not always) . Just release your battery under 10% and recharge to 100% once a month, it can be helpful for battery life.
That is actually not considered best practice. Lithium ion batteries should be kept topped up when possible. That was previously recommended to calibrate the battery sensor. It never had any effect on the overall life of the battery.

  • I turned on my new imac for the first time and it is making a loud fan noise please help

I just got a new computer and when I turned it on for the first time it started making a loud fan noise. the noise seems like it is coming from the back speaker. and it does not make the noise on sleep mode.

Connect the iPad to a USB 2.0 port your computer with the cable and iTunes should launch and it will take you through the process step by step.
I assume that your computer meets the requirements and that you have the latest version of iTunes on your computer.

  • Can i transfer songs to my nano while it charges for the first time?

I just got a nano today for christmas and i have just installed iTunes and my nano is currently charging in it's dock and has a sign flashing on it saying do not disconnect. But i don't know wheather it is wise to start trying to load songs into the nano just now when it is still charging for the first ever time!? Is it ok to do this?

All I can say is give it a try if you want - but it's certain not the recommended way of handling it. It only takes a few hours to charge the Nano the first time - why not do that and then transfer the songs?

I just got an iPod touch but my computer kind of died. I have access to other computers though, if I get my iPod started on one of these other computers, will it still work on mine if I get it working again? Yes, you can hook up your Ipod Touch to any computer. I don't think it's picky.

  • I just sync'd my iPod Nano for the first time. All the audiobooks appear to have been loaded but I cannot hear anything during playback. The volume is turned all the way up. My headphones work when plugged into a different unit. What's next?

I just sync'd my brand new ipod Nano with my laptop PC running Windows 7, and loaded all my audiobooks. They show up on the Nano's screen, but when I select one I hear nothing. The earphones work fine when connected to another unit. What's next?

I'm ok with having to resync everything once she gets home but it concerned me when you said it would, again, wipe everything once I plugged it in here. I don't care about having to reload music, contacts, & apps from here, but I would rather not lose all the pictures that she took while she was gone. If we did decide to go the whole start-over-from-scratch route on her end while she is there, could the loss of pictures be adverted if she created a backup of her phone, copied the backup to a USB drive, & brought the backup file home with her so I could restore it from here? When I plug my phone into another computer, I can open it through My Computer & copy the pictures; could I do that when she gets home before I allow iTunes to open & wipe everything again?
I guess the other option would be to just have her just copy all of the pictures onto a USB drive before she comes home, I'm just curious if it's possible to restore everything if she just brings the backup file home.
Thanks again for taking the time to helping me.

  • Long time computer user looking into server techs for the first time

    Hello there,
I was hoping to get some guidance on if we should upgrade to a server or not. We run a small three person business from our home doing audio and video work. Our main goal is to keep things organized and digital organization is not our strong suit as artists.
So, we would need large shared space for media and project files (gigabit ethernet is fine) as well as a large shared Time Machine for our three workstation's system drives. Also, the idea of a shared ical and shared contacts would be really helpful. None of this needs to be open to the public over the internet (security from the internet is greatly preferred), all just needs to be accessed via ethernet and local wifi via AirPort (iPhones for shared contacts and ical).
The only thing stopping us is the idea that a lot of this can be done without the $500 server software and the headaches of setting up something completely new to us. I have tried asking some Apple store reps for advice but have yet to find anyone there that can give me a for sure answer, which is why I am here to get some professional opinions. So the question, do we need to go the server route to have all these features even though none of it will go though the internet?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks all!

do we need to go the server route to have all these features even though none of it will go though the internet?
"need"? no, but you might prefer to do so.
    Let me explain.
First off, there's nothing in Mac OS X Server, per se, that says it's designed for internet-facing applications. Sure, some of the services are internet-leaning, but don't think that internet/non-internet is the deciding factor of whether to use Server over client.
The fact is that much of what you describe can be done via Mac OS X Client, but it can be done much easier with Mac OS X Server. You might find that the hours you save, and the productivity you gain far outweighs the cost of Mac OS X Server.
Case in point, you have three workstations, right? Is each one used by an individual? or are they shared?
If they're shared, would it be easier for any user to be able to log on at any workstation and get their normal desktop environment, preferences, etc? That's something that's easy to do with Mac OS X Server, but not via Mac OS X Client.
You've already touched on shared iCal and contacts, neither of which are part of Mac OS X client, so you'll have to decide how much they're worth to you.
At the end of the day, you'll have to decide for yourself. Of course, you could take the easy option and defer until Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) comes later in the summer, in which case the server functions are included as optional installs for no additional cost (i.e. buy client and get the Server for free).

  • Installing an application on an original iPod Touch for the first time.

    Hello.
I just helped a client to buy and upgrade a client's original iPod Touch model to the latest iOS 3.1 since Epocrates Rx (http://www.epocrates.com/products/iphone/ ) since he bought it on his old Palm Treo 680. However, installing it detected multiple devices access. I assume it is because of iPod Touch and MacBook Pro. Also, it makes him sign into his iTunes account but his login fails. His account information looks correct.
Are we missing something? Apple is making this is complex and confusing!
    Thank you in advance.

    deggie wrote:
Is it more confusing than reading your post here? What does the Palm Treo 680 have to do with this. I'm not familiar with buying apps from the iTunes Store and having it detect multiple devices. Can you start from square one and tell us how you purchased epocrates and installed it on the Touch, etc.
And the iTunes account problem is a totally different problem.
I forgot to mention other things: My client has an account with Epocrates that he used to his old Palm Treo 680. He wants to use his Epocrates account on his iPhone Touch. He is trying to get its App from iTunes Store.
How do we fix the account problem? I also forgot to mention that when he logged in with his MacBook Pro (last used in 2008 to buy and upgrade iPod Touch 2.1 or so) and his Apple ID login showed outdated credit card datas so he updated. His first iPod Touch v3.1 purchase attempt didn't register at first (didn't show up in his purchase history and had to start over from the web page on https://buy.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/touchLegacyLandingPage from http://discussions.apple.com/post!reply.jspa?messageID=13263739 ).
FYI, I don't own and use iTunes and iPods. I only owned an old Powerbook G4 back in the early 2000s. Thank you in advance.

  • How many hours should i charge iPod touch for the first time?

    please help.

Charge as long as you want. If the battery indicator have a plug image then it's full otherwise you see a lightning image. Apple advices to discharge (use it till it's empty) once a month to prolong battery life.

  • I was setting up my IPod Nano 7 for the first time and I can't play the songs I bought. What did I do wrong?

I was setting up my IPod Nano7 for the first time and purchased 3 songs.  When I went to play it on my IPod the screen said "No Music".  What did I do wrong?

We are going through same thing and looks like alot of other people also. Seems to me Apple would have invalid email instead of us loosing the gift card all together. Very irratating. Good Luck.

  • Error for the first time

My ipod has always work fine. Just some background: I am an apple user and my ipod is windows formatted because I sometimes use it for file transfer on various computer OS platforms. Now just for the first time every I inserted my ipod into my powerbook and got an error "the ipod (name) cannot be updated. The disk could not be read from or written to."
I then unplug and replug the ipod yet the same message occurs. Any ideas on what is wrong? Or fixes? Is this the beginning of hardrive failure for the ipod? Or will a simple restore work (I want to avoid this if possible just because it takes time and is hard on the ipod)?
    Thank you,

  • Does Roaming data syncs for the first time when app data are in download and installation process?

    Hi,
I will store user Id in "HighPriority" Roaming data. When user will install app in another computer (with the same Microsoft Account), app will get user Id from Roaming data. Then I can implement all data sync over my cloud service.
    There are 2 scenarios:
    1. User downloads and installs app in another computer, but roaming data syncs/downloads for the first time only after several minutes -
It's bad for my app :(
    2. User downloads and installs app in another computer and roaming data syncs/downloads at the same time (then I can get user Id immediately)
    - Its great for my app :)
Which scenario is real in practice?
Does Roaming data syncs for the first time when app data are in download and installation process?

Umm no not that i remember. It just randomly started happening. I reformatted the hard drive for mac (journaled) but it was working fine since i did it until now
