Computer will not recognize either of the ipods i own
I have a new shuffle, which worked fine for about 3 weeks, and a video ipod. All of a sudden, my imac g5 won't recognize either one of them. I've tried all of the usb ports with no luck. I can run my printer from the ports fine. Also, i plugged my shuffle into my sister's macbook and it worked fine. The only change we've made recently is to have our cd rom drive repaired at the apple store. I think the shuffle was working for a few days after that though.
Any help would be appreciated !
Do you have any bus-powered devices on the other USB ports? I'm not sure how the power is shared between the ports, but it is possible that the combined power needs of the iPod and other devices is more than the power available. A printer is typically a low-power USB device, as is the keyboard/mouse, so those would not be affected. If you changed how (and what) USB devices are connected recently, that may explain the sudden change in both the iPods not working.
You may be able to compensate by using a self-powered USB hub and connecting the iPod to the hub. Since the hub supplies its own power, the iPods may work there. I connect my iPods to a self-powered USB hub, just to reduce wear and tear on the iMacs ports (and I can have both iPods connected at the same time).

My computer will not recognize my 3rd Gen iPod. What to do?
This just started acting up today. I am able to plug in the ipod to the firewire cable and get it to charge but the computer will not recognize it. It does not show up in iTunes or on My Computer. I have updated iTunes, accessed the device manager to stop and start the ipod service program (as stated in a FAQ), i have restarted my computer. All of these have not solved my problem. Does anyone else have any suggestion? Has this happened to anyone else and if so, how did you fix it. Thanks in advance for any help.

I recently bought a new laptop because my old one crashed. The only backup I had for my music was on my ipod. My new computer will not recognize the ipods music and I can't transfer anything. It keeps asking me to sync the ipod to this computer, but I'm scared to lose all my music. I want to transfer some of the music onto my iphone but I can't. I'm very frustrated and wish I knew more about computers at the moment!?!? What do I do???
You will need the help of some sort of 3rd party software to help you copy the content from your Shuffle back to your PC. Once you have done that, you can reimport this music into iTunes and configure it to sync to your new Shuffle.

How do I either: 1) turn off comptability feature, or 2) up grade the .exe to be compatable with the iphone ios 6.0.1 software. The computer will not recognize the phone. I reinstalled itunes, but it still does not work.
What are you talking about? There is no "compatibility feature" on the iPhone, and .exe files won't run on the phone.
Please slow down and explain exactly what you're trying to do and what happens when you try. -
The screen with the plug pointed to itunes is frozen and my computer will not recognize the ipod
The screen on my ipod touch has a pic with the plug pointed to the itunes logo and it is frozen. The computer will not recognize the ipod anymore. I had updated the itunes to the latest version and the it was in the process of updating software in the ipod. It said that the download could not be completed. This is a new ipod touch.

How old is the iPod? All iPod batteries will dimish overtime and lose their ability to hold a charge at full capacity?

These are your options:
1. Restore the iPhoto library from the most recent backup that predates the issue.
Advantages: Always works, if library damage is causing the problem and the backup is intact.
Disadvantages: Impossible if you don't have a backup. All changes made since the backup are lost.
2. Repair or rebuild the library. Be sure to back it up first.
Advantages: May solve the problem with no loss of data.
Disadvantages: May fail. May take a long time if the library is large.
3. Scavenge the library with a third-party application called "iPhoto Library Manager," which you can find in a web search. From the application's menu bar (not the iPhoto menu bar), select Library ▹ Rebuild.
Advantages: All images should be preserved.
Disadvantages: All books, calendars, and slideshows will be lost. -

I was updating my iphone and the screen changed to "plug into itunes" in the middle of it, but it was already plugged in. Now my computer will not recognize that my iphone is plugged in and it is stuck on the "plug into itunes" screen. what should I do? Some of those things which concern itunes also help with your problem. In particular try rebooting the computer, try a different USB cable to attach the phone or try a different port -
