Computer with full Adobe CC software was stolen
Hello,
Last night my Apple computer was stolen from my office.
The device is fully installed with Adobe CC software.
What is the best way to protect my software for unlawful users?
install adobe cc on two computers you own.
when you attempt to install on the 2nd, you will see a message saying cc is already activated on two computers and giving you the option to sign out from the other two. click yes and your thief will not be able to use your adobe cc programs.

Unfortunately, you de-authorized your computer but NOT your items.
Once a book is accessed on one ID, it cannot be used on another ID.
I am afraid you may be stuck ... if you are lucky the vendors will give you a second chance.

This is a vicious trap that Adobe lays for unsuspecting customers.
When you register 'without ID', ADE creates an anonymous/implicit ID with limited powers (eg can't be used to share with other devices).
Whenever you first load a DRM book, that copy of the book is associated with whatever ID the computer is registered to at the time.
Any book you load while this anonymous ID is active gets associated with that ID, and can't be read on any other device.
When you properly register your computer with a real ID, that old anonymous ID is lost.
Now you don't have any devices that can read the book.
I think that even if you de-authorize again and revert to anynomous authorization, it will be a different anonymous ID, but worth a try.
Not helpful for you if reverting to anonymous doesn't help, but general comment that might help other readers .....
The only way I know round this is to use a DRM stripper such as epubee BEFORE you deauthorize the device.
I do NOT advocate using such code to get around the valid limitations placed on a DRM book.
However, where the problem arises only because of the ineptness of Adobe's ADEPT DRM infrastructure and its implementation,
such a measure is totally justifiable. -

We had ADE on a system whose hard drive was dying and becomming unusable. I replace the old hard drive with a new one and resinstalled everything. I was able to extract the My Digital Editions Folder from the original drive and copied it to the new drive. I then installed the latest ADE. When we attempt to authorize the new ADE install on the new harddrive we see the dreaded "You can only authorize this computer with an Adobe ID that hasn’t previously been used to authorize any other computer or mobile devices. Please try again."
How can we get back running on the new disk?

You can't transfer songs from iPod to computer using iTunes, except for songs you purchased from the iTunes Store (and you can re-download any previous purchase from the iTunes Store Purchased screen).
However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer songs files from iPod to computer. If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your computer, drag the files (or the folder containing the files) to the iTunes window to add them to the iTunes library. -

When I try to download a library book on my Kobo reader, I keep getting this message. First it tells me to change the computer's authorization to be associated with an Adobe ID. When I click on authorize after logging in, the message keeps telling my "you can only authorize this computer with an Adobe ID that hasn't been previously used to authorize any other computer or mobile device. I have no idea what this means. Help!
Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help, and indeed installation can even trigger this state.
Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
Another is "E_AUTH_NOT_READY"
This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.
In extreme cases on the mac, the following extra step has helped some people. Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash. If you are referring to the first generation Apple TV, then you cannot sync content which is stored on its hard drive back to iTunes. -

Use a different Adobe ID to "authorize" the computer.
Or, remove existing authorization associated with the Adobe ID from one computer / device.

Removing spyware from a computer with no firewall/antivirus software
I got an e-mail I thought was suspect in regards to a company on line I buy from. I called their customer service and they told me the e-mail was a survey from them if it used my full name in the body of the text (and my name was in fact in the body of the text).
I clicked on it by accident.
What software can I use to see if it installed spyware on my hard drive. I did not have a firewall or virus software installed. After the fact, I installed Norton Antivirus 9.0 on my hard drive and live updated to the most current version-but I know Norton has stopped supporting Macs, so I'm afraid their software won't be capable of catching the most current spyware. What can I do the ensure no spyware is on my hard drive?There really isn't any spyware for Macs, unless you count tracking cookies from websites. Application installations or system changes have to be authorised by you entering your password, so unless you did so at the time, you're almost certainly fine.
In any case, I don't think NAV checks for spyware. If you want a good current antivirus application, I recommend ClamXAV. And you can turn on your Mac's built-in firewall in System Preferences - Sharing (although it doesn't protect you from downloading malware).

if you have a problem dl'g, you didn't follow all 7 steps. the most common error involves failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com). -
WHat can I do to make the program work as it has before?
Very Important, how much Free Space is on your Hard Drive first of all? Click on the Macintosh HD on the Desktop, then do a Get Info on it.
Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
Do they launch OK while in Safe Mode? -

WHy have to pay yet again.?It sounds like what you have is a Creative Cloud subscription. You can use the desktop version of Acrobat Pro that comes with the subscription to convert Microsoft Office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) into PDF.
However, the Creative Cloud subscription currently does not include the Acrobat.com service subscriptions (ExportPDF, PDF Pack) that are offered from Adobe Reader desktop and mobile products (including Adobe Reader for iOS).
Please note that Adobe Reader for iOS provides the basic functionality (e.g. viewing PDF documents, adding comments, filling out form fields, search, printing) for free.
