Computer won't recognize wireless speakers after Leopard upgrade

Just upgraded to Leopard without any problems. Then went to Itunes and noticed that my wireless speakers are no longer an option on the bottom of the screen. I then downloaded the new Airport Utility from apple.com and had it scan for wireless devices - it did not find anything. The speakers are plugged into a power source and directly into my airport express, working perfectly. Any suggestions would be great because I really love my speakers.

I don't know the answer to this question, but if you don't get one then I suggest that you post to the iTunes or AirPort forums.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

Computer won't recognize Nano after downloading updated ITunes

I updated ITunes and my Video IPod works fine, but my husband's IPod Nano (1st G) now does not exist as far as my computer is concerned. The Nano works fine and charges when I hook it up to the computer through its USB cord, but my computer won't recognize it. Could this be a problem with the new ITunes update?

I posted this elsewhere, but perhaps it fits best here....
I am having this same issue, except in my house, we have 2 nanos- 1 is recognized and 1 is not. Hopefully someone can figure out what's going on.
(both nanos in my house are less than 4 months old)

Computer won't recognize network printer - HP OJ Pro 8600

My computer and printer are both connected to the same wireless network, but my computer won't recognize the printer (using the host name, IP address, or otherwise). It's maddening, because it worked when I first set it up a year ago and just recently stopped - I uninstalled and reinstalled everything. My iPhone can pick up the printer and print wirelessly, but there's an issue when I try to connect my computer using the HP software.

I understand you're having issues utilizing your printer from your computer. I would like to the help with that!
I would recommend starting with a power reset. Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would then suggest downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.

Airtunes won't play multiple speakers on Leopard 10.5.1
Everything was fine until Software Update to Leopard 10.5.1 last week.
Works great on other Tiger-Macs but not on new Leopard-Macbook 2.2
While attempting itunes launch with airtunes - Message window says:
An error occurred while connecting to the remote speakers "Airtunes". Unknown error (-3256)
Will play on computer speakers, or airtunes speakers but not both.
Anyone experiencing similar??

I have been plagued with the same problem as most here since installing Leopard. For some reason or another I could not setup AirTunes and view multiple speakers using my G5.
Now I realize that not everyone has a laptop and a desktop but here's what worked for me...
After a hard reset I created a network to airtunes using my PowerBook G4 and Airport Utility. At this point I was able to stream music to airtunes. I then changed the AirTunes settings, via the G4 to join my existing network, my linksys WRT54G router.
Like magic everything is back to normal. I can access iTunes multiple speakers on both my G5 and my G4 PowerBook just like I did when I had 10.4 loaded.
Just my 2 cents...

Ipod shows folder with exclamation point and computer won't recognize

My ipod resets itself each time that I try to turn it on, and then flashes the folder with the exclamation point. I have tried to restore it and update software but the computer won't recognize it. A few days before it broke the ipod would skip through some songs that it was unable to play for some reason, and now it makes a clicking sound when trying to start up. Did it die, or is there a way to fix this?

3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
6. Open the iPod Updater and click “Restore”
For Window computer
Go to folder “My Computer”
Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod
Choose “Format”. Ensure the settings are at “Default” and that “Quick Format” is not checked
Now select “Format”
Eject your iPod and do a Reset
Open the iPod Updater and click “Restore”
In case you do not manage to do a “Format” on a window computer, try to use some 3rd party disk utility software, e.g.“Partition Magic”.
C. Windows users having trouble with their iPods should locate a Mac user. In many cases when an iPod won't show up on a PC that it will show up on the Mac. Then it can be restored. When the PC user returns to his computer the iPod will be recognized by the PC, reformatted for the PC, and usable again. By the way, it works in reverse too. A Mac user often can get his iPod back by connecting it to a PC and restoring it.
Tips
a. It does not matter whether the format is completed or not, the key is to erase (or partly) the corrupted firmware files on the Hard Drive of the iPod. After that, when the iPod re-connected with a computer, it will be recognized as an fresh external hard drive, it will show up on the iPod updater.
b. It is not a difficult issue for a Mac user to find a window base computer, for a PC user, if they can’t find any Mac user, they can go to a nearest Apple Shop for a favor.
c. You may need to switch around the PC and Mac, try to do several attempts between “Format” and “Restore”
Advance Level
A. Diagnostic mode solution
If you have tried trouble shooting your iPod to no avail after all the steps above, chances are your iPod has a hardware problem. The iPod's built-in Diagnostic Mode is a quick and easy way to determine if you have a "bad" iPod.
You need to restart your iPod before putting it into Diagnostic Mode. Check that your hold switch is off by sliding the switch away from the headphone jack. Toggle it on and off to be safe.
Press and hold the following combination of buttons simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds to reset the iPod.
iPod 1G to 3G: "Menu" and "Play/Pause"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Menu" and "Select"
The Apple logo will appear and you should feel the hard drive spinning up. Press and hold the following sequence of buttons:
iPod 1G to 3G: "REW", "FFW" and "Select"

Try to do the 5in1, HDD R/W and HDD scan tests. Some successful cases have been reported after the running the few tests under the Diagnostic mode. I have not tried this solution myself, I heard that there were few successful cases that the users managed to get their iPod (you must put your iPod in disk mode before connecting with a computer) mounted by the computer, which was booted by a system startup disk. For Mac, you can use the Disk Utility (on the Tiger OS system disk), for PC user, you can use the window OS system disk. Try to find a way to reformat your iPod, again it does not matter which format (FAT32, NTFS or HFS+) you choose, the key is to erase the corrupted system files on the iPod. Then eject your iPod and do a Reset to switch out from Disk Mode. Reboot your computer at the normal way, connect your iPod back with it, open the iPod updater, and hopefully your iPod will appear there for the Restore.
If none of these steps address the issue, your iPod may need to be repaired.

Storage space full of "other", computer won't recognize iPod is plugged in

I just downloaded about 100 songs onto my 160 gigabyte iPod Video Classic, making my number of songs only about 1,300. My iPod says its storage now only has 1.9 mb left. I only have about 10 videos and no photos, but the "other" section of the storage content bar takes up a ton of space. It had none before. How do I remove the "other" from my iPod? Now my computer won't recognize any iPod when I plug it in, and I've tried multiple plugs.

Connect the iPod to a USB2.0 port, on the Computer itself and not a USB hub or those found on the Apple keyboard.
If iTunes launch, close it back.
If your iPod is found on your Desktop, then run DiskUtility, (if not then Reset the iPod while connected to the Mac)
Select you iPod
Click FirstAid Tab on the right window.
Press the Repair button.
After Repair finish, iTunes may launch and ask to Restore, this will delete all the data in your iPod.
if iTunes did not launch, just Reset iPod again while connected to your Mac.
Always don't use USB hub or the Keyboard USB port or else your problem will come back, as the power is insufficient from these shared ports for iPod harddisk write process.

Computer won't recognize my Mini

Our computer recognized our Ipod until we tried to update it. Once updated, the adapater picture came on and now the computer won't recognize it. In stead we get the adapter picture. Tried to reset after leaving the adapter on it all night and it won't reset. We get the apple then the adapter picture. The computer doesn't know it's there either now. Again tried to reset, get the apple and the adapter. Just one big circle. Any suggestions?

Circuit City just fixed my ipod after having the same problem, just my luck they were running a free clinic this week. Anyways, mine did the same as yours, worked fine til I tried to update it, then it showed nothing except the AC adapter icon, even after it was plugged in with the thing! So what they did was to use something called a firewire. It has 2 plugs on one wire, one for the AC adapter and one for the USB at the same time. They fixed it within a matter of minutes, re-set it, declined the update and tada! You can buy a firewire for about $30 just about anywhere. I hope this helps you.

Computer won't recognize my new ipod

I just got the fifth gen ipod and I am trying transfer my music from my old ipod and the computer won't recognize my new ipod.

I have just been through this world of pain. dont bother re-installing itunes, or trawling through device drivers.
Instead, make sure you turn off bluetooth and wireless. Unplug your network cable from the pc (assuming you have a LAN connection).
Try plugging in the touch and it should be recognised straight away.

Harddrive was replaced and now my computer won't recognize the IPOD

I recently had the hardrive replaced and now I can't seem to get it to charge, my itunes to recognize the ipod. I have tried several times restore and update. All I get is error messages "install wizard could not be completed" and "error in update manager". One thing...I have the IPOD with the color display and when I got it back and plugged it in (it worked long enough to download my music, but the display was in black and white. When I do get something on the screen it is a file with an exclaimation point and the www.apple.com/support/ipod website. HELP!!!!!

Computer won't recognize Airport Extreme Card

Okay, I need a little help. I bought an Airport Extreme card for my eMac today, which is what my manual told me I'd need to connect to a wireless Internet connection.
I followed the instructions to install it exactly, but the computer won't recognize that it's there. It still says "no information available" when I go look at the Airport card settings.
I'm not sure if it's a fault of mine, the card's, or the computer's. When I insert the card, should it snap into place? Should it slide out easily? How can I tell if it's in properly?
If anybody can help out, it'd make my year. I am dying to get this high-speed Internet set up. Thanks.

Use the information in KB 86325, eMac: How to locate the serial number and identify your model to identify which type of eMac you have.
If you have one of these eMacs
eMac (ATI Graphics)
eMac (USB 2.0)
eMac (2005)
you require the AirPort Extreme card.
Any other eMac requires the original AirPort card.
If you are using the correct card and it is not being recognized, one or more of the following must be correct.
The card isn't installed correctly.
The card is defective.
The eMac's motherboard is defective and not recognizing the card.

My Computer does not recognize my speakers...

I have a Pavilion desktop with Windows 7.
Several months ago I bought a "Bose Companion 5" speaker system, which is compatible with Windows 7. It had been working beautifully until about four weeks ago when all of a sudden the computer decided it did not recognize the Bose speakers. After trying several times to fix the problem I just unplugged the speakers.
Then, a couple of weeks ago I took a chance and plugged the speakers back into the computer and hoorah! It worked!
Well, long story short, when I logged into the computer last night Windows did one of their "critical updates". After that my computer was freezing every few minutes and my Bose speakers again were not being recognized by the computer!
I did a system restore, but I had to restore it to a date when the speakers were not working. And of course, they are not recognized.
This is driving me crazy! There is absolutely no reason for my computer to not recognize my speakers!
I'm wondering if the problem is with the USB port and if it is, does this mean that the ports are all going to fail?
Can someone please help me out here? I am so tired of battling with the computer!

Niam, welcome to the forum.
I am envious of your speakers. In my opinion, they are some of the best.
Have you tried plugging them into each USB port on the computer? Sometimes one will work and another will not. Also, have you looked in the "Control Panel / Device Manager / Universal Serial Bus controllers" to assure they are all recognized and that there are no yellow exclamation marks by them?
For future reference, when requesting help you should always include the make/model of the computer and/or monitor. This information is necessary for us to review the specifications of them.

Computer won't recognize 8830 at all

My computer won't recognize that my blackberry is connected at all. It was working, I got a phone call and it disconnected and now it is as if it isn't even there. It doesn't show in device manager at all, and it doesn't show under my computer as another drive like it did before. I tried downloading and installing the USB drivers separately and that didn't work. I don't really think it is a driver issue anyway because I can connect my husband's Curve and it works perfectly fine.

Have you tried taing the phone and the OC to dinner and see if they can
work it out? .
Try this:
No data will be lost when doing the following:
pull the battery while the device is ON.
Replace after a minute, Let the device reboot 1-3 min, see if the problem is fixed, Thanks
