Computer won't sync with external TV

I am attempting to use my TV as an external display to watch movies and such. I am using a DVI to HDMI cable for the connection.
When I plug the cable into the laptop (MacBook Pro) the laptop will start to sync up but then will continually switch between the desktop and a blueish screen every few seconds.
On occasion this does lead to the Display application crashing and my having to reopen it. I got it to sync up last night after fiddling with the input selection on the TV I managed to get it to work. Now unfortunately I can't remember the sequence I went through to get it to work.

Hi
I don't know about your problem, sorry. How about asking in the Macbook Pro Forum, they may know something.

  • Computer won't sync with icloud

After installing Lion and enabling icloud on my macbook pro...it won't sync to icloud.  I've logged in on the internet to see my icloud account and no new entries put in my calendar from my laptop are there.  New enteries from my iphone 4s are in icloud (on line) - but are not synced to the computer or vice versa?  What's up?

There's no need to do anything on the phone which is plainly working.
While in theory I agree with you 99%, I've noticed iCloud seems so glitchy at times, (new technology?) that I've seen enough strange things so I try to make sure I don't burn off an extra 4 hours of trouble-shooting because of one little step such as this.

  • ICal on computer won't sync with MobileMe

I own a Mac laptop, desktop, iPad, and iPhone. For some reason, the calendar on my the laptop and desktop will not sync with Mobile Me. So, things I enter onto my calendar on one of the computers will not show up on my other devices and things I enter on my other devices will not show up on the computers.
I do have the synchronize my calendar using mobile me in my iCal preferences and when I go to mobile me in my settings, the status shows it syncing and when I put the calendar next to iCal it says it synced at 10:14 am...
I have tried resetting the data on the computer with data from Mobile me even though I will lose some events. It goes through and does this, but nothing changes on my calendar.
    Any advice?
    Thanks.

I also am now having problems with iCal. I cannot get the data in iCal on my MacBook Pro to sync to either my iPhone or my iPad.
I am extremely wary of some of the work-arounds suggested on this discussion forum, as I have about eight years of iCal data that I cannot afford to lose.
I realise that, as it becomes bigger and mores successful, Apple is adopting the Microsoft "****-the-end-user" strategy, but is there at least a manual for iCal 4 that I can download from somewhere. It seems to have adopted a completely different way of operating from earlier (working) iCal versions without ever informing we, the humble users, that this was what we were in for.
A link to a manual would be a start. A working version of iCal would be better, but I fear Applesoft no longer panders to so menial a requirement as "functional".

  • My new computer won't sync with my phone

I had synced my old computer (Windows 7, Firefox) with my phone (Android, Firefox). Old computer broke, bought new computer (Windows 8), synced new computer, got all old bookmarks back. So far, so good. However, I can't seem to get any new bookmarks added on my phone on this computer or added on this computer on my phone. Syncing apparently happens every day, but not between these two.
    How do I fix this?

    Are you getting any error?
Did you setup the SYNC without error?
REMOVE your SYNC, restart your mobile and reSYNC it

  • My computer won't sync with my iPhone all of the sudden.. iPhoto and iTunes, My computer won't sync with my iPhone all of the sudden.. iPhoto and iTunes

i try to unplug and re plug and my iphoto says theres no pics to upload and calls it "apple iphone" when my iphone has a name and itunes says"the iphone'___my name____'s iphone' could not sync because the sync session failed to start."
it just started doing this today.. i dont want to restore my phone because i will lose my pictures..

Sometimes resetting the phone and rebooting your computer will fix this.  Reset your phone: hold the on/off and home buttons until you see the Apple logo (ignore the off slider that appears first), then release.  You will not lose any data doing this.  Now reboot your computer and try syncing again.

  • HT1848 I downloaded an audio book on computer; won't sync with I-Phone... how do I get it into my I-phone?

I downloaded an audio book to my window's computer from I-Tunes; cannot get it into my I-Phone from sync. How do i do this or is it there and I cannot find it?

How have you tried to sync it ? With the phone connected and selected on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, you should be able to use the Books tab on the right-hand side of iTunes to select and sync the audiobook to the phone's Music app - if there are audiobooks on your phone then you should get an Audiobooks option in the Music app.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • I have an iphone 4 that i use as an iPod. it is not connected to a telephone company. I updated to ios7 and now it won't sync with my computer

I have an iphone 4 that I use as an iPod. It is not connected to a wireless network. I have updated to the IOS 7 and now it won't sync with my computer. Does anyone know what could possibly be the problem?

Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service.
Pictures taken with the device are designed to regularly be copied off the device to a computer as would be done with any digital camera.
If you have failed to use the device as designed it may be too late to recovery anything.
Is the device regularly backed up to a computer via iTunes?  If so, the most recent backup (when restored to a replacement iOS device) should contain all contacts and pictures as of when the backup was created.

thought that it was possible to have the same iTunes library on any machine that was authorised, a kind of cloud-iTunes I guess.
That would convenient, but sadly it is not the case. Sorry!
Either way your welcome and best of luck!

  • HT1349 My computer crashed and now that it's working again, itunes required that I deauthorize.  Did that and now that I have authorized computer it won't sync with my old apps, playlists, photos, etc.  How do I fix that?

  • IPhone won't sync with computer, get error (-50) message. Also getting requests to sync when I open iTunes. I have 2 iTunes id's apparently. Can I fix this?

I have an iPhone 4S,7.1.1,  and my MacBook Pro is still running 10.6.8, waiting to update to Mavericks as soon as I have some down time. My phone won't sync with my computer. I am getting an error message (-50). ITunes is also asking me if I want to sync my Podcasts, etc. with my computer when I first open it. I am assuming part of the issue is that I have 2 Apple ID's. One for my computer (this one), and another for my phone and iPad. Can I merge these identities? It this my problem or is there an incompatability between 10.6.8 and the new 7.1.1 OS on my phone?

    Hey Janice Lucoff,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like you are experiencing issues backing up your iPhone 4s in iTunes, which is causing issues finishing the sync of your device. The following resource should help resolve your issue, as it refers to the exact error message you described:
