Computer wont find IPOD & Usb-problems

Hi all.
I have an Ipod video 30gb (5.0th generation) And now when im trying to connect it to my computer its not working. I just saw that also the usb-port next to the port that im connecting stops working! I've tried all of my usb ports and even on my other computer, same thing there... it shuts down the other usb-ports (in the same hub/nav or whatever its called?, well atleast the closest usb-ports shuts down...not all just the nearest). And i think at the same time the port that im connecting my ipod to stops working as well (im not sure but it has to be it since the ipod doesnt connect to the computer)
And EXACTLY when i remove the ipod from the usb port... the other usb devices starts working again.
I also tried connecting to a external usb hub but then i get an error about power thing on the hub (im not sure how to translate it since my OS is not english) and it stops when i remove the ipod from there... im not sure whatever that is either but it only happens when i connect my ipod there.(Ps. The external hubs has its own external power source)
Overall the IPOD works fine which i can see... I just havent used it in a year (yeah i know...) its been in my drawer... but anyway i just charged it, installed itunes and some old ipod updater (which i think is not used anymore?) and tried connecting so update my songs on the ipod and then THIS HAPPENED.

Ps. i charged the ipod with an "original" external charger that uses the same usb cable if somebody wonders...

I to am experiencing like problems. It seems to me, after reading many posts here that this is a current problem with no solution yet. Plus the fact that the Apple Co. offers no "real solutions" or responsibility for their actions.

Computer cannot find ipod!

I purchased a 1gb ipod shuffle about 6 months ago, and have had no problems with it until recently. For the past week I have been unable to edit the songs in iTunes or reset it with the ipod updater. I have tried uninstalling the USB massive storage device in the drivers, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, and I have updated to the most recent ipod updater. One weird thing I've noticed is that when I plug in my ipod or open the updater, this autoplay loading screen comes up for a few minutes. The only place where I can see that my computer recognizes the ipod is in My Computer, where the drives are listed. It comes up as Removable Disk (H:)

Opened up My Computer, right clicked on my ipod H:\ drive, and went to format. Restarted my computer, and everything works fine again

Ipod usb problem

I have a problem with my ipod. When i plug it into my usb port it says that the following:
No drivers are installed for this device.
^ thats what it says about the USB cable. Does anyone know how I could fix this? Yes I restarted my ipod and yes i've tried it to different USB ports. Also Tried a different cable since I have 2 USB cables. I even did a system restore on my computer but nothing worked. I have Windows XP btw.... but yea thanks for everything.

The loader helps with an Ipod of fifth generation, alone me recononce cuandoes firewire and the port usb not, already I have virificado with 4 different cables and in several computers but it me it does not recognize in other computer.

Windows and taken it across many operating systems
with no problem. One thing to make sure is to
finalize the disc. Some operating systems don't like
the way other apps/operating systems handle
multisession CDs.I mentioned that exclusively in regards of RHEL/OEL's mediacheck test. Nothing else. It doesn't mean that CD itself is invalid and that installation will be impossible. Whenever you burn RHEL ISO images in windows using Nero 6/7, specially at 12x speed, you can expect 2-3 CDs (out of 5) to be "suspicious" and they don't pass mediacheck test. Whenever you burn in Linux using cdrecord at 12x speed, you can expect 1 CD (out of 100) to be "suspicious". That's my experience.

ITunes/iPod/USB problem after installing AVG 8.0 Antivirus

I have recently installed AVG 8.0 as a replacement to my pevious Antivirus software. I now seem to have some kind of a problem with 'disappearing' USB attached storage.
The first problem I had, was that my Walkman was no longer recognised. I resolved this by uninstalling it in 'Device Manager' and then running 'Add Hardware'. Windows successfully found the new hardware and installed it OK. My big problem is that the same thing is happening to my three iPods (Shuffle, Touch and 30Gb Video). When I connect them, iTunes detects them, opens and then seems to perform the usual software version check OK. However, if I then try to tranfer a track to them, or delete a track, I get the message 'Disk not found'. I have updated iTunes to 8.01, but that hasn't resolved the problem. I have also tried uninstalling the iPods and then letting Windows install them again. This doesn't resolve the issue either. The iPods have the most current software update loaded onto each of them. My Windows XP Home is running SP3 and all of the current Critical Updates. There is no other unexpected behaviour by the PC.
I have searched around and there is talk of some kind of (possible) AVG 8.0 related problem, but I can't find a resolution. Please can anyone help. Thanks in advance.

I have exactly the same problem since downloading the upgrade earlier today. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled to try to fix it but all I keep getting after it has nearly completed loading (which takes a frustrating amount of time each time) is a repeat instruction to re-boot in order to complete the configuration and I've had enough of the endless 'loop' that you refer to. It worked fine before the upgrade but I can't go back!

Ipod usb problems

I have recently just encountered this problem. I have an ipod mini i had for over 3 years. Just recently i have been having trouble connecting my ipod to my computer. I thought it was the computers problem but it isnt. I also tried to connect it to my power adapter to the wall and the ipod just freezes, where the charging bar does not move and u cannot move the wheel. It is not the usb because i also tried a firewire and still, nothing. I have tried updates to the software, and itunes, resetting it, running diagnostics, pretty much all of those, but i maybe missing something else. is there anyway to get it out of this funk besides bringing it in?

I have just experienced the same problem with my ipod. My computer, home stereo, car connector, and work pc do not recognize that it is plugged in. I have tried everything you have, I've looked at all the normal troubleshooting suggestions and still nothing works. It is like my ipod just died. It worked fine in the morning, but a couple hours later it did not work at all. I would love it if anybody had any suggestions as to what to do (besides going to the mac store).

I just got a new ipod back frome service . When i plug it in XP pickes it up but i cant see it in my computer . I turn on itunes and it dose not find the ipod ! but no error msg . That's because new iPods, even the ones that come back from service, are formatted for the Mac and must be restored for PC use. Run the iPod Updater again and choose the Restore option, then re-sync with iTunes to reload your songs.

Computer wont recognize ipod mini + mini displays low battery and sad icon

ok so my ipod mini wont get recognized by itunes or windows and when i hook it up to the computer it displays a low battery icon and when i take it off it displays the apple icon for 7-8 seconds and then shows the unhappy face icon

Also, there is a pretty comprehensive post written by another forum member which is about the sad iPod icon. Be aware that it's quite involved and contains some info that will almost certainly void the warranty. If your iPod is still within the warranty period, you should use that option first.

I have a 30GB Fifth Gen iPod. When I had it plugged into my usb port I accidentally disconnected it without ejecting it. It was stuck on the Do Not Disconnect screen for a while until I reset it. But now when I plug it into my usb port my laptop wont recognize that I have anything in the port at all.
I can plug it into other computers and it shows up so why wont it show up on my laptop?

Hi, can someone please help me figure out how to get my ipod to work? The model is M9282LL. The ipod itself is working but I can't connect it to my computer to load anything on it. Iread about checking to see whether it's formatted for windows or mac but it doesn't say anything about windows in the screen that it says it would say it on. That said if it was set up for mac the serial number would be the last thing listed on that screen but this lists the serail number then the model number last.
I am connecting it to my USB port(s) using a CTA IP-DOC. It looks like the dock has a led on it but it doesn't light up. It also won't charge when connected through the usb with the dock. It will charge when I hook it to my charger though. Whenever I plug the dock in or plug the ipod into the dock a window pops up saying: "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it." I have the latest drivers for my nforce 2 chipset and have service pack 2 installed.
Can someone please give me some advice as to what could possibly be wrong?

Computer wont read iPod at all

I have a 1st generation 20gb iPod and I can't get any type of feedback. When I plug it in to my computer I get a battery with a yield sign. If i try to reset it by holding the menu and select button, the screen flickers for a second and goes back to the battery sign. I can't charge it either. I have tried my outlet charger, an iHome and my computer, the same battery sign shows up. I can't think of anything else to try and fix it. Is it completely worthless?

I had the same problem when I bought my Touch 2 months ago. Here is fix I used:

First (MAKE SURE YOUR IPOD ISNT CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER, AND ITUNES IS RUNNING!!) you have to reset it by holding your home and power button. Make sure you slide it to power off. Then as it powers on, hold the home button and connect your ipod to the computer at the same time. (DO NOT LET IT GO FOR ANY REASON) as iTunes loads it, it'll say that your iPod is going into recovery mode. Click ok, and restore it.
It worked for me. Hope it helps...
