Computer wont pass the start up Windows screen

I have an HP G62 laptop that i bought four n half years ago.I m using it for my schoolwork but now when i start it,it doesnt go past the Windows ico.I have tried safe mode,it didnt work and it failed the start up and run-in tests.Is there a way i can get it back to work or at least just recover my documents and files first and then maybe do anything else that might help.

Just made an update to my osx Lion. Now my macbook pro wont pass the strat screen (grey one). It should have the login spaces but it doesn't appear...

First thing you should try is booting into Safe Mode. If this is successful, then restart normally to see if all is back to usual.
If this doesn't help, then do the following:
Reinstalling Lion
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

By selection screen, what do you mean? There is no selection screen in WDA as there was in classic dynpro. Do you mean you are using the Select-Options reusable component? Are you wanting to call a standard transaction via ITS - SAPGUI for HTML? Please provide more details to your question.

Try to reset the device:
Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

This is pretty common to see when your firewall kicks in and blocks certain communication paths the printer takes.
Here's a list of ports and programs that when allowed through the firewall, will restore communiction.

Have your security software provider walk you through allowing these items through your firewall.
If this does not fix your issue, it is most likely an issue with the driver configuration. Your router may have assisgned the printer a new IP address and this can be changed in the properties of the existing driver.

Computer wont go past grey apple startup screen with spinning gear help!!!!

Hey everyone Im hoping someone can help. I just did a software update download from Apple. It came back and said that not all of the items were installed and the computer needed to restart. I did the restart. Now it wont go past the grey apple screen with the spinning gear.
Any ideas anyone?

You have corruption on your Hard Drive, likely before the updates even.
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Tiger Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it finishes.
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, or things don't load/run, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates again, or even do an A&I if you have enough free disk space.

If all the above do not resolve the problem, then it's time for a relatively painless Archive & Install, which gives you a new/old OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space, and don't have any Disk Directory problems...

When I minimize firefox, the icon at the bottom of window screen disappeared.

* When I minimized the FireFox window, the icon at the bottom of the window screen disappear. I have no way to get the window out anymore, but to initiate another instances of Firefox.
* Recently I found that Firefox start up is tremendously slow. It seems to slow down my pc a lot too.

it says hide in the menu but the window is not showing. the only way to get the window to show is the drag 4 fingers down but then it goes away again if i click on window.

HT1349 Just popped a cd into my IMac (10.68) in order to look at some very important images I just had scanned. The computer wont recognize the cd, nor will it eject it. any suggestions? (besides shaking it and throwing it across the room :-)

Hello, I recently upgraded my iPhone 3gs 4.3.3 to iOS 5, and it was stupid of me to not create a backup. It was unlocked thanks to cydia and now I dont know if there's anything for me to do! Please help, I cant afford a new one.

WOW! Instead of slide-to-unlock, enter passcode, find my camera app, wait for it to load,...AND THEN take the picture (iOS4).... all I do now is double click home btn and push camera icon. BEAUTIFUL!
