Computer wont reboot after installing safari 4.0.3

I downloaded and installed Safari 4.0.3 my MacBook Pro and when I restarted my computer it doesn't get passed the blue screen.

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Tiger Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates.
May even need to do an Archive and Install if you have room on the HD, but saves all your files and gives a new OS...
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
I only use Software Update to see what is needed, then get them for real via...
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
That way I can wait a week or so, check the forums for potential problems, and get Permissions & such in order before installing.
If all the above fails, then it appears to be time for a relatively painless Archive & Install, which gives you a new/old OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space and no Disk corruption, and is relatively quick & painless...

Just be sure to select Preserve Users & Settings.

  • Firefox cause my computer to reboot after installing version 8. How can I prevent this bug?

I have FF installed on a network drive so it can be accessed from different machines with different profiles.
When I tried to upgrade to V 8 it demanded a reboot and now it no longer works.
If I try a reinstall it demands another reboot.
    What is going wrong?
Why on earth should installing a browser require a reboot, it never used to?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click  Log in.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Computer Wont' Load After Installing

My computer runs on Windows Vista Home Premium, 32bit, SP1.
So, every time I try to install iTunes, which has been more than 4 times, everything seems fine. But then the next day, when I turn my computer back on it will not load, forcing me to use System Restore.
Any suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated.

Hmmmm. So something else on startup, perhaps.
It's okay to go back into MSCONFIG and recheck the boxes.
Tell me a bit more about your system and iTunes set-up.
Is there an external hard drive on the PC? If so, do you have any of your iTunes media files stored on it? Or are they in the default location?
Do you have any old Adaptec/Roxio CD/DVD authoring software installed on the PC? If so, what software and version?
(I'm thinking here of the possibility of "transferred pain" in the registry entries relating to start-up. Although iTunes doesn't touch those entries, some other types of hardware or software do play with those. If there's a bad interaction between iTunes and that software or device, it might ramify through that other software/device's startup registry entries to a boot failure.)

  • Fix for continuous reboot after installing Service Pack 3 in Windows XP

After contacting HP Technical Support and speaking to a supervisor we were able to solve the problem of Windows continuously rebooting after installing SP3. Here are the steps that fixed the problem with my HP Pavilion running on an AMD processor. The steps are actually fairly straight forward and easy....
Issue: The computer reboots continuously after installing Windows XP service pack 3
Computer reboots continuously after installing Windows XP service pack 3 on AMD systems. The problem is that with some configurations, SP3 causes the computer to crash during boot, and Windows XP, by default, is set up to automatically reboot when it crashes. That is why you end up in the endless rebooting scenario.
    Cause:
On HP computers, the same Windows installation disc image for Intel processor based PC's is deployed for the AMD processor based computers as well. Because the original installation image for both Intel and AMD is the same, all have the intelppm.sys driver installed and running. That driver provides power management on Intel-based computers. On an AMD-based computer, amdk8.sys provides the same functionality for power management.
    Symptoms:
Ordinarily, having intelppm.sys running on an AMD-based computer appears to cause no problems. However, on the first reboot after a Service Pack 3 installation, it causes a big problem. The computer either fails to boot, or crashes with a STOP error code of 0x0000007e.
You may not see the error code because the computer reboots too fast. In order to get the error message, you need to set an option during startup. To do so, open the windows advanced menu by tapping the f8 key on startup. Then select the "Disable automatic restart on system failure" option.
    Solution:
If you have an AMD-based computer, however, you do not need the intelppm.sys driver and can disable it. There are three methods in order to do this.
Step 1: Please try to log on the system in safe mode.
    1. While using Safe mode open the command prompt....  Start, All Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt
Run the following command in the command prompt just like it's typed: sc config intelppm start= disabled
    Step 2:
If the issue persists, please try to log on or boot the system in recovery console (refer to the web document)
    2. Using recovery console:
If you booted into the recovery console, from a command prompt, type: disable intelppm
Step 3: Please check in registry.
    3. Using windows registry:
    1. Run regedit
    2. Click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    3. From the File menu, select "Load hive"
    4. Navigate to %systemdriver%\Windows\System32\Config on the dead system and select the file name System
    5. Name it something you can remember, such as "horked"
    6. Navigate to horked\ControlSet001\Services\IntelPPM
    7. Double click the Start value and set it to 4
    8. If you did what I did and completely messed things up by running a disk check previously, navigate to ControlSet001\Control\SessionManager. Open the BootExecute value and clear out the autochk entries.
    9. Repeat steps 6-8 for the other control sets.
    10. Reboot

For future reference: Service pack 3 Installation steps:
Before installing the service pack 3 update, please follow the steps listed above and save yourself much time and effort.
To uninstall service pack 3, I suggest that you uninstall it from add/remove programs.
    Step 1:
Uninstall service pack 3 from add/remove programs:
    1. Click Start.
    2. Select Run.
    3. Type appwiz.cpl in the run field.
    4. Click OK.
    5. Click change or remove programs.
    6. Select the program -service pack 3 that you want to uninstall or remove.
    7. Click Remove button.
    8. It will pop up the message stating that "Are you sure you want to remove the programs".
    9. Click Yes. It will help you to remove or uninstall the installed programs from add and remove programs.
Step 2: If the issue persists, I suggest you to perform system restore and then try to install the service pack 3 after performing the steps mentioned above in regards to removing the intelppm.sys Driver.

I hope this helps someone who is having this problem. It sure took me a minute to get it all figured out. :0)

Still useful as of 12/30/11. Have ten Lenovo 5042 computers with downgrade licenses to run XP and have a ghosted image from another Lenovo 5042 having and Intel cpu. My target computers all have AMD cpus in them and the image would continuously reboot on
    the AMD computers.
Used method 1 and it cleared the problem instantly, many thanks for the post and the time and effort it took to dig up the answer..

  • Wont reboot after iOS 7 update

wont reboot after iOS 7 update

I had the same problem.  Here's how it repaired.  First need to note that I backed up my ios6 iphone5 to my MacBook Pro via iTunes and did the update to ios7 tethered to iTunes via USB.  The iPhone hung on restart to ios7.
I disconnectd the lightning to USB chord.  At that time the icon/graphic came up on the iphone screen to tell me to connect to iTunes.  On reconnect, the iPhone told me that it had to be restored and that this would "wipe out" all settings and items stored on the iPhone5.  So it was just like turning the iPhone 5 on new out of the box.  I was good with this since I had backed up.
The iPhone 5 then went through the restore process first installing the "most recent" ios, which happened to be ios7 since that was the latest downloaded via iTunes.  Once the base ios7 was installed I was then prompted to set up a new iPhone or restore from the latest backup (which I had done just prior).  I chose restore from latest backup and the iPhone went through the process of resyncing to iTunes and reinstalling all apps, music, pics, video, and "others" ... a looong process.

You shouldn't have them at all. I don't see anything in the 2 panic reports implicating Safari?
Disconnect all peripherals, only Apple keyboard and mouse and test. Often connected peripherals cause kernel panics. See isolating issues in Mac OS X. for troubleshooting steps.

Ive just upgraded my late 2009 macbook, and things are not working properly. First of all, when I started the computer first time after installing Mountain Lion, some message advised me that some files were impossible to install. Once I wrote my password, and for now on, everytime I start the session, another window advise me that "Java SE 6" is missing, due that, the computer can't run some "CS5Service Manager". If I try to install it, the download ends with an error. If finally, you skip the istallation, you arrive to the dock, but the menu bar at the top of the screen doesn't show up.
In addition, my trackpad doesn't works either. I can move the arrow but i can't click anywhere, probably because the option of clicking by touching is disabeled and I can't performance a regular click.
I'll be very glad if someone know what the heck is happening with my computer. Anyway, I'm going to the genius bar next Saturday. Thx!

    We're sorry.

  • A new round of Junk Mail after installing Safari Beta 3.0

In the days since installing and religiously using Safari 3.0 beta on my MacBook Pro with 10.4.9, I am seeing a huge increase in Mail being sent to the Junk folder via Automatic Junk mail filtering. I have not changed any Mail settings. This is mail from sites that I get mail from all the time without it going to Junk Mail Folder. So something has changed, drastically.
I do have the mail Junk filter set to trust my ISP Junk Mail headings (Earthlink). I will turn it off and see if that changes anything. Perhaps Earthlink is doing something new.
But if not Earthlink, I can only wonder if anything changed due to Safari 3.0 install.
Anyone else having this type of new problem?
MacBook Pro 15 inch   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I've had exactly the same problem with junk mail after installing Safari 3. No other recent changes.
So far, retraining on received e-mails does not seem to be taking; good e-mails keep going into junk folder.

  • New imaged machines fail to complete reboot after install

New imaged machines fail to complete reboot after install of 10.4.9 image
Running off both 10.4.9 Server and a 10.3.9 Server machines imaged from the same disk image and different disk images fail to reboot after imaging is complete. All machines go through various stages of reboot some initial most all the way to waiting for finder to boot up on desktop. Nothing is wrong with the items, installed the entire image is installed if you looking at the machines via firewire. All .nbi sets were created under 10.3.9 (to avoid 10.4.9 problems) all disk images with Disk Utility all .nbi with 10.3.9 Network Image utility.
Anyone any clues been driving me nuts for about a week and I have 500 ibooks to image.
Also the reference machines for the images are same ibooks that will be imaged, so its the same platform.
    various   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

All is the same for me except I used a 10.4.9 server only to create the disk image using Disk utility, and all other work ison a 10.3.9 server. Greay or blue screen on reboot otherwise machines look fine.
I am having this same issue....
    Order of events as follows...
Build image on source mac (10.4.9)
Create image on server for netinstall from source mac
    (10.4.9)
Set Netinstall image on server via netboot (10.4.9)
Install Netinstall image on target mac via netboot on
    server (10.4.9)
Installs fine and says successful.....Apon reboot all
i get is the grey screen with the apple and spinning
    icon....Sits there and doesn't change....
On further inspection I notice that there are things

  • Imac intel core duo (2008) crashed and wont reboot after Mountain Lion upgrade

    Hi can anyone help?
Hi, my imac was loaded with Snow Leopard and I upgraded to Mountain Lion a few days ago and today when I got back from leaving it a few hours the screen went funny!!! (see pic) and it wont reboot. The same screen appears straight away when restarting. I have tried holding down the shift for safe start but it didnt work and also a nv/ram pram reset (but only heard one 'mac sound')
I have my old snow leopard disk..............somewhere!!! but I'm not sure if I can boot from them if I have just upgraded to Mountain Lion via the app store download??
I didnt do a boot disk! (yes I know) or a back up (yep again...I know!) so if anyone has any ideas on how to help :-) I'd be very grateful!!
    Thanks Melanie
PS is the problem called a Kernel Panic????

I'm afraid my next piece of advice you won't like. I think you need to erase the drive and reinstall Mountain Lion from scratch.
Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click on
the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on the Security button and set the Zero
Data option to one-pass. Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • My iPhone 6+ keeps rebooting after installing iOS 8.3

I have a 128Gb iPhone 6+. When I downloaded and installed iOS 8.3 via WIFI, it went through the usual download sequence and then started continually rebooting. After about 20 or so reboots, I got a white screen with a carrier signal on the top left, a location icon and a grayed-out bluetooth icon and the battery level indicator on the top right, and a curious "information" icon (a letter "i" in a circle) at the bottom right of the screen.
I tried tapping on the "i" but got no response. Then the iPhone went into the reboot cycle again. After several reboot cycles, I got the same white screen again. Then the iPhone again started rebooting and hasn't stopped.
My iPhone 6+ has been problematic since I installed iOS 8.1.2. Several random reboots (about 4 cycles, before the iPhone returned to "normal") and some other issues that I didn't document.
I brought the iPhone to the nearest authorized Apple repair center. They said that they could not find any problem and neither could they duplicate the issue I experienced. They recommended that the next time reboots happened that I should make a video of the error. Also, they recommended that I keep all of the apps updated (which I conscientiously do). So I decided to make a log of all the errors since the iPhone was returned to me.
Here are the entries to my log:
    iPhone 6+ Errors since March 30, 2015
    218 apps not synced
Failure to Sync - 0xE800002D - The app was not installed on the iPhone because of an unknown error
iPhone self reboot during reinstallation of 218 apps not synced
    Missing Google Authenticator settings.
AutoSMS app could not be reinstalled. Doesn't exist in App Store.
iPhone self reboot during phone call. Some apps reinstalling in background.
Could not download additional sound modules for Soundprism Pro. Still could not download modules after reinstalling app.
Noticed keyboard error when inputting Apple ID password. When pressing keys, instead of character pressed, a question mark appeared. Photo taken with another phone. Could not do a screenshot because iPhone screenshot would not work.
iPhone self reboot during text messaging. 9 apps updating (April 1, 2015, 11:30am)
Audible could not log in properly. Tried reinstalling app.
After manual reboot (cold reboot), screenshot functions works and no noticeable errors with keyboard.
Turned on full access for Fleksy , GIF and Symbols Keyboards. (April 1, 2015, 12:20 pm)
Noticed all 3rd party apps (Kindle, Audible, Dropbox, 1Password, YouTube) credentials need to be re inputted.
iPhone self reboot while testing GIF keyboard. Pasted an animated GIF on a test text message. Was able to paste GIF then phone rebooted. (April 1, 2015, 1:41pm) reboot took approximately 2mins.
GIF could not be pasted into Viber message. Also noticed screenshot function not working. (April 1, 2015, 1:53pm)
After cold reboot, screenshot function works. (April 1, 2015, 1:57pm).

Yeah my is the same. Ive had enough of it now...Its been a week of my phone crashing & apps crashing, camera crashing, call dropping out all the time. I've had enough. Apple have done nothing to help it. Ive an upgrade & myself & my partner are buying samsungs.
    P.S I've downloaded both ios 8 & ios.8.2 straight from my PC.
I have done all of the above & phone is still unstable & crashes apps all the time. Right now as we speak whats app wont work.
Waited to long now...Apple are doing nothing to help anyone anymore. Company is going down the drain fast.
