  • 2nd generation nano ipod

My 2nd generation nano ipod has not been in use for several years. Now, when I connect it to the laptop, it's recognised, yet the screen displays a dark colour and wouldn't operate normally. Any idea what does that mean?

It probably has a near completely dead battery.

  • Please Help!!! My itunes or computer wont recognize my first gen ipod touch

A couple of months ago my iPod touch kept turning off on me even though my battery level read half. When the ipod turned off on me the first time I tried turning it back on, but the apple logo would only stay on for a couple of seconds then turn off. I tried turning it back on about three times, when I finally decided to stop trying for a couple of minutes. About ten minutes passed and I tried turning it back on, but this time it actually did turn on. The thing is though that when it turned on it had the usb and apple logo on the screen. I tried connecting it to my computer and it didn't pick it up. I plugged it to my friends computer and it still didn't pick it up. I tried reinstalling i tunes, I tried putting it in recovery mode and again nothing. Can some one please help me. I really do not want to spend thirty bucks on apple phone service.

Have you tried placing it in DFU mode and restoring it.?

why wont my 2nd generation ipod touch turn on ?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • How do I get my windows 8 computer to recognize my 6th gen ipod nano

how can i get my windows 8 computer to recognize my 6th gen ipod nano?

    Hello Warren,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPod nano.  It sounds like your iPod nano is not being recognized in iTunes on your Windows computer.  I found an article with steps to address this:
iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows

  • IPod nano (7th generation) doesn't charge while my 2nd generation nano does

I have a Pioneer car stereo in my car that has an iPod adapter. This unit is more than a few years old. It syncs and charges my 2nd generation nano, but it does not charge my new 7th generation nano (I have an Apple 30 pin to lightning adapter). It also doesn't charge my 3rd generation iPod touch. Does anybody have an idea short of getting one of those FM adapters?

Your car is set up to charge via the Firewire pin which Apple ceased supporting a few years ago. You can try this adapter: http://www.abt.com/product/61936/Scosche-IFWA.html?utm_source=scfroogle&utm_medi um=sc&utm_campaign=IFWA but there is no guarantee it will work.

  • Ipod Nano & 2nd Generation Nano Problems

I bought an Ipod Nano last December and my brother recently purchased the 2nd generation nano.
With my nano, an ITunes CD came with it. I installed it and things worked great. However, my brother did not receive an Itunes CD, the instructions directed him to apple.com to download the latest version of Itunes.
We downloaded the latest version and every song that I had on my ipod (about 427 songs) showed up. About 5 of those songs showed up on his. (We connected his ipod through the USB cable that I got with mine).
Out of the 427 songs I have on my ipod, he wants about 25 and then the ability to add more songs that he wants onto his.
The question is how can we do this? When his ipod is connected all the songs are showing up on the itunes screen (and the 4 or 5 are showing up on his ipod screen). NOrmally in the version of Itunes that I used, once I made any adjustments to my itunes I could go to file and then "Update Ipod" and the changes would occur in a matter or seconds. In this case he has options like "Sync..." or "Transfer purchased..."
I don't want to lose all of the songs that I have due to this, so could anyone help us out?
    Thanks in advance!

Do these songs play ok in iTunes?
Have you restored the iPod and reloaded the songs?
You should also try deleting them from iTunes altogether and re-importing them, then transfer to the iPod again.

  • 2nd generation nano stuck on Apple logo

My 2nd generation nano is stuck on the Apple logo, although the logo does flash on and off every few seconds. It is possible to put the nano into disc mode and access its content through iTunes. I've tried "restore" and the process is completed to the point of saying the iPod is being restarted, and to wait for it to appear in the iTunes window. Unfortunately, it never shows up in iTunes and the iPod itself ends up back in the Apple-logo-flashing mode.
Any suggestions? Help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've tried the 5 R's as well as the suggested procedure in the link. Unfortunately, the problem persists.
One issue I've wondered about is whether or not a dead battery could play a part in this problem. It seemed that battery charge retention was becoming a issue for a while before this problem started. It's hard to know now if the battery is charged or not, as the iPod will only function in disc mode when it's attached to the computer through a USB link. When I attempt to charge the iPod through an adaptor and a wall outlet, the battery charge icon does not appear on the screen; then, as at all other times, the only thing that is visible on the iPod screen is the Apple logo. I don't see how the battery could be the only problem, however, since the iPod is recognized by the computer (iTunes) only when it's in disc mode.

I recently purchased the new nano (7th generation) and I love it except for one issue.  On my old 2nd generation nano, when I played podcasts, it would play podcasts one at a time. So if I had 20 episodes of a podcast on the device, it would stop at the end of each one.
With the new nano, I can select and play a podcast, but when it’s over, it goes straight to the next one without prompting.  It keeps on playing all of the episodes of any podcast until you stop it manually.  Setting the repeat function differently does not prevent episodes from being played automatically.
This can be very irritating when I only want to listen to one podcast.  I’ve often fallen asleep listening to one episode of a podcast, only to be woken up hours later by the iPod working its way through all subsequent episodes.  It is also annoying that any podcast which has started automatically in this way is marked as ‘played’ – even if you stop it within a few seconds.  This makes it hard to keep track of what you have actually listened to.
Is there any way to set the iPod to play all the podcasts individually? I have read the User Guide from cover to cover, and can’t find a way of doing this.

    Dude or hot-spur,
Not fishy at all!!!! You really think I would have taken any more of my time to post a bogus rant? We'll no, it is unfortunately all true. I want to hear from anyone who is experiencing such problems not anyone else that wants to put there two cents in. I really don't need anymore hate or negativity. Just people's experiences because I feel like I am the only one having so many problems. Thank you
Yes, I have had some unfortunate bad luck to have so many problems at the same time, but some of them are just things you cannot do on the new OS.
    Thank you again

  • My 2nd generation Nano indicates that about half of the space is 'other'. Anyone know what that means and how I get rid of it? All I've ever downloaded is music.

The Other data on your iPod is album art, file allocation structures, your main library file, and any other data that the iPod uses to read its songs.
You can have it removed by going to your itunes and plugging your ipod back into it.   Click the device then click the music tab then uncheck box that says include album artwork.. then sync again.. this time the OTHER stuff will now be removed.

  • I can't download itunes purchased music from my library to my 4th generation nano ipod.

I can't download my itunes purchased music from my library to my 4th generation nano ipod.

An iPod Touch is not a backup/storage device. You should have been maintaining a backup of your personal data on an external HDD using Time Machine or other backup software of your choice.
However, there are ways to "recover" the music:
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive
Once you have recovered the music I strongly suggest you purchase an external HDD and start using Time Machine to keep a backup of your personal data.

  • Will 9.02 iTunes work with 2nd generation nano?

Have any of you installed 9.02 iTunes on your Nano? If so was it successful?

It isn't possible to install iTunes 9.0.2 on a Nano. You can install it on your computer and use it with your Nano, but you cannot put it on the Nano.
Works on my two Macs with my 2nd Generation Nano.

  • 1st vs 2nd generation Nano

For people who've held both 1st and 2nd generations Nano's, how does the style compare? The round edges vs the more square edges? Pictures just don't do them justice, so would like to hear your opinions from 1st hand experience.
    Thanks

Personally, I LOVE the changes made in the 2nd Gen Nano. Not crazy about the candy colors - I wish that they had gone with colors that were a little more sophisticated and subtle - And I wish that the 8GB had come in at least Silver as well as black.
Still, I got the black 8GB Nano to replace my 1st Gen 4GB Nano - And I couldn't be much happier. The feel of that midnight aluminum is much more pleasing than the chrome and plastic of the 1st Gen...the rounded edges make it feel much better in the hand.
Even though it is thinner and lighter than the 1st Gen, it still feels more solid and less fragile. With my first Nano, I felt like I HAD to use a case in order to protect it. I ended up using a CoreCase in a silver aluminum (http://www.corecases.com/home.php). It was the least bulky hard case I could find that fit in with the Apple style. But it still added bulk to the Nano.
With my new Nano, I do not feel the need to cover it up as much, thus keeping the "WOW" factor of something so small being able to deliver that much power. Plus, the aluminum is less prone to scratches and fingerprints - a very nice feature!
I also prefer the click wheel with the middle Select button that is slightly concave instead of rounded - It just feels better and more natural.
I know others have viewed this change as a step backwards - back to the days of the iPod Mini. But I've always felt that the Mini was one of the best iPod designs out there - and this new Nano is even better! NOW, if only they could come up with BETTER colors, these Nanos would be nigh on perfect!

  • 2nd generation touch ipod not recognized by itunes or Macbook

2nd generation touch ipod is no longer recognized by itunes. The ipod has been reset and the only screen image is the itunes icon with an arrow and a USB cord connection pointing to the itunes icon.
