Computers Must Be Imported Twice

I have a strange issue when I attempt to manually import computers in to SCCM 2012. When we import computers, they will not PXE boot unless we delete the newly imported object and re-import it.  The behavior occurs whether we use the Import
Computer Information Wizard or the Import-CmComputerInformation cmdlet in PowerShell, or if we provide the name and MAC, name and GUID, or name, MAC, and GUID in the wizard. Has anyone experienced this behavior or know where to begin troubleshooting the problem?

Hi,
I concur with yannara, please check whether the TS Deployment is deployed to the Computer.

if the copy files ... when adding option is checkmarked in iTunes > preferences > advanced, files you transfer via homesharing are copied permanently to the other library.

The default settings mostly likely use an audio sample rate of 32k. This doesn't work probably in FCP. You're probably better off capturing the tape in iMovie.

  • Imported twice - how to fix duplicates?

I am moving music to a new laptop - used home sharing and imported.  Accidentally imported twice.  Now I have double the songs - 14,000 instead of 7,000 on the new laptop.  The old laptop still has the 7,000.  What's the easiest way to fix - delete the entire library and start over ?
    Thank you.

Ok, I started that and realized I had duplicates in my Christmas, so I decided it would be easier to just clean out Christmas - did that for 30 minutes and got the obvious duplicates (some were in my other library too) and then realized I would still have duplicates in Christmas no matter what because some songs on on different albums.  Aaah, I am about to pull my blonde hair out by it's dark roots.  You have been very helpful - any other suggestions?

  • URL must be loaded twice to run quiz

I have a quiz I created in Captivate 3. It works fine, except
that when published and you type the link, it seems to load 100%
but doesn't - only the bottom frame appears of the control player.
If you then go to the same URL another time, the entire quiz loads
and works fine. Waiting for it to load the first time doesn't work.
It isn't the connection speed. I think the need to load the URL
twice is a bug or glitch in the program?
I've tested this on 3 Win XP Pro computers, using IE 6 and
IE7, with cable, DSL and T3 connections, all with the same result.
If the temporary file is left in the browser, the quiz works fine.
It is only the first time the quiz is accessed that 2 loads are
needed. It is as if the quiz is not being cached or loaded properly
    the first time.
Any way to work around this?

No need to apologize for using the wrong terminology - so
long as in the end we are talking about the same thing.
Ah yes! We call that bottom element the "playback control".
No surprise in the behavior described, and its appearance only
serves to confirm that the issue is, in fact, a matter of
bandwidth. The reason I say that is because the playback control is
a separate SWF (in your case it is contained in
"TreasureHunt_skin.swf"). It is obviously loading, but the main SWF
is having to cache before playing which - again - indicates the
file size is too large to play until it is cached on your local
    machine.
Note: The preloader you see is probably the
"defaultpreloader.SWF" which is scripted to load 60% before play,
not 100% as you said. The reason this is important is that if the
file is over-large, when 60% has loaded, there may still not be
enough of the SWF content downstreamed to play - as you are seeing.
But on the second attempt, the additional 40% is being received,
    and the movie begins play.
With that in mind, there are two solutions that I can see.
    The
first solution (and the best, in most cases) is to reduce
the size of your project. That means re-creating it at smaller
dimensions (what are the dimensions, by the way?), or
alternatively, to chop the movie into multiple smaller pieces.
Either way, the movie has to be made smaller, if this solution is
    to work.
    The
second solution is to change the preloader so that the full
movie really is downloaded to the end-user's local machine before
play begins (instead of the 60% download demanded by the default
preloader). To do this, try using the preloader named "
ConnectPreloader.SWF". This preloader is set to download 99%
instead of 60%, and that should solve the problem of having to
access the file twice in order to see it play ...
BUT ... be aware that the "wait-time" will be that much
longer while waiting for the preloader to release the movie to the
    viewer.
Best of luck to you, and have a great day, Jimmmie!!

  • I have two Arch Linux computers -- Avoid downloading everything twice?

Hello, I have two Arch Linux computers. A media center type computer, and a general work station. They are both x86-64.
Arch Linux is pretty intensive on bandwidth. Even though my two computers don't have exactly the same packages, they have a lot in common. What's the best set up so that I don't download these common packages twice when upgrading the systems?
Note: I've tried setting up a NFS mount for the package cache, but for some reason, both machines will proceed to redownload the packages and not use the ones that are in the package cache.
EDIT: Actually, I forgot to configure pacman.conf to use the NFS cache on one of the machines, so I guess this would work after all. Is there a better way to do it though?

nomorewindows wrote:I've seen pacserve before, but I have dual architectures, and of that, some of the machines get updated once in a blue moon.  I'm sure that pacserve probably wouldn't be affected by dual architectures.  It's just easier to remember to pull from a NFS share.
I don't really see how that's easier. Pacserve comes with a daemon and the daemon uses multicast by default, so the network configures itself.
Multiple architectures were a problem before, but Arch started including the architecture in the package name for all packages a while ago. Since then, it's fine to mix and match.
Anyway, I just wanted to clarify. If NFS is easier for you, use that.

  • Sharing a single itunes library between two computers - must be possible!

    Hi there,
This is probably a commonly asked question, but I cannot find a step by step guide to doing it (if indeed it is possible).
I have got a copy of itunes running on my media computer/server in my living room. What I want is to connect my laptop over the network and share this library - the effect being that it is like I am using the original computer.
In essence I want to be able to add muscic, edit tracks, update my ipod from either computer and the changes be made in respect of both computers. I suspect that this is done by making sure that the laptop uses the same database information as that created by my main computer but am not really sure where to start.
Could anyone perhaps give me a step by step guide as to how to do this - a single database that can be used by two computers each running itunes. One thing I am pretty sure is not possible is to for two people to be using itunes at the same time, so I would ahve to avoid this.
    Thanks very much.

Ah. Sorry about that, I guess I skimmed over the add music part. Correct, in that the home sharing wouldn't allow you to add music to the media server library. The only thing that I can think of that would give you what you want is to use a shared folder on the network and then map both of the iTunes to that folder. At least that way music would go into the same folder. The only question is about the library on the other computer, if it would get updated when you use the other to add music.

  • Thumbnails populate slowly, and file import twice (two questions)

Lately, I've been noticing that thumbnails take longer than usual to populate for existing images in the Grid View.  I'm using LR 5.6, Windows 7-64 Professional.  Plenty of RAM and an SSD where the catalog and .lrdata reside.  Any thoughts on how I might improve matters?
Also, I notice when I import images from my camera that already imported images sometimes get imported again.  I've checked the box "don't import suspected duplicates" and I'm selecting "New Photos."  Again, any input would be appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Robert

  • Must power up twice in order to boot OS X

    Hi,
I have a dual processor 1.8GHz PowerMac G5 running 10.5.6. In order to boot I must power up the G5, there is no start-up chime, then power if off and back on again and then I get the start-up chime and all is well. At first this was an intermittent problem, but it has happened every day for the past few weeks. Every night I power off the G5 and unplug it from the power bar. Leaving the G5 plugged in overnight but powered down makes no difference.
I have replaced the battery, reset the PRAM, NVRAM and PMU, replaced the start-up disk, removed the PCI card I had added, now I only have the monitor, keyboard/mouse and network connected, but the problem persists. I cannot see any errors in the logs. I did upgrade to a wired aluminum keyboard before this problem started.
Any suggestions as to what else I could try?
    Thanks,
    Randy

I wonder how many folks cannot use their original Apple Hardware Test Disk since installing 10.5.6? I can start up with it but all it wants to do is reinstall OS X 10.2. No hardware test.
    But back to the problem.....
When you do get it going have you tried the "About this Mac" and checked the tests run there? Especially the memory?
I had the same problem and it turned out to be bad 1G RAM modules - one or both.

  • How can I move Thunderbird data back and forth between computers like Outlook import/export of a .pst

I want to regularly temporarily move my Thunderbird data to another computer running Thunderbird and then back again later. I am not permanently migrating. I do not want to move all my data from one machine to the other, just my Thunderbird folders, tasks, address book, etc. In Outlook this is accomplished simply by exporting the .pst on one computer and importing on the other. Is there a simple way to accomplish this without using Windows transfer or duplicating everything in Gmail?

    Thanks for the information.

  • Intermittent cookies must be removed twice

Not entirely sure when this started, but I have noticed that if I open Safari Preferences, choose Security, Show cookes, and then remove all, I sometimes have to go immediately back and do it again for them to leave.
Is it possible you are only deleting the ones you see, and then once those are deleted the "second page" moves up??
I deleted the cookie plist, so I will see if this happens again.

    Hi
"Remove all" means just that. There really is no "second page". Perhaps, as you posted, trashing the Cookies.plist will make a difference.
I use SafariPlus for Cookie management. Much easier way to keep track of cookies, removing those you don't want vs. those important to save. Apple says "cookie management" is coming to Safari 3. Not sure what they have in mind, however, if it works like SafariPlus, then the Safari browser will be that much better.
Post back, as I would like to know what you discovered with the .plist trashing.

  • Acrobat Pro 7.1 in Win7 (64bit) Printer Settings must be confirmed twice

I have an customer which I just delievered 3 new Workstations with Windows 7 (64 bit) to. Each one is running Adobe Acrobat 7.1 Professional.
The issue is that each time when they want to print, and they want to customize printer device configurations, they enter the menu. Then click on "Ok", but have to go back into the configuration once more and agree, so that the printer dialog accepts the new settings.
I suspected it to be a simple dialog error, and thus tried to print after confirming just once, but the printer indeed printer with wrong settings then.
Even if it is not a vital error, our customers understandably complain about the workflow.
Is that an known issue? Does anyone have a suggestion?
    Thanks a lot in advance!

    Hi,
    The machines being used are:
    ACER Predator G5900
    Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
    Intel Core i5 Processor 650
    4GB DDR3 RAM Memory
We use several different pieces of software to reach a printer.
    These are:
    Acrobat Pro 9 (Most Used)
    Microsoft Word
    Océ PRISMAprepare (Adobe Product)
    Adobe InDesign CS5
    Adobe Illustrator CS5
    Adobe Photoshop CS5
We also use several different printers.
    These are:
    Xerox DocuColour 242
    Xerox DocuColour 250
    Xerox DocuColour 260
    Océ VarioPrint 1065
    Océ VarioPrint 6250
    Océ VarioPrint 6320
    HP Laserjet 4250
    Samsung ML-2570
And we use Fiery Command Workstation Suite 5.5 to process colour jobs once sent to a Xerox Fiery.
We have tried PCL6, PS and PPD drivers for all of the printers and the problem occurs across all Adobe programs, across all printers but only on these Acer Predator machines. Given that we have no other Windows 7 machines in the building I can't vouch for the stability of the machine itself but it seems most peculiar and we felt it would likely be something bugging between Acrobat and Windows 7 64-bit but the further we go down the road of investigation the less likely it seems that this is the case.
In terms of key strokes ctrl+p or File>Print all arrive at the same outcome - having to select the printer properties, then click ok, then click properties again, then click ok again before the settings embed!
Thanks for your time looking in to this.
    Regards,
    Darren.

  • Print Properties must be set Twice for changes to take effect

When I set anything in Print Properties, in Acrobat or Acrobat Reader, the first time I exit the Print Properties box, by selecting Ok, the changes are not reflected in the Print dialog box.
If I go into Print Properties again, and just click Ok again, then the chages are applied.
How do I make the changes apply on the first try?

One other note: when I print the test page, it still indicates that the media size is 4x6:
(notice that you can barely make out the full size Windows print test page on the other side of the paper, so it's not a printer issue)
