Computers not networking

First off, I never imagined networking could be so hard.
I'm trying to wirelessly network my laptop and my desktop through a Linksys WRT54GL. Neither computer can 'see' the other one, despite them being in the same workgroup.
I managed to get them networked through a WRT54GC earlier using Network Magic, but its performance was sparatic at best, and the best file transfer speed I got was .4 mbps. I was hoping a new, better, router would help out, but it hasn't so far. I would like to not use Network Magic if at all possible. Any help or suggestions is appreciated

Okay, earlier today i was playing around with stuff, trying to troubleshoot the error, and I turned the Network Browser from 'FALSE' to 'yes' in the registry. Now, both computers could see each other, but I get an error message on my laptop that says:
"\\Media is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
The network path was not found."
Somehow, inbetween not doing anything for a couple hours, my media server lost a little ground, and now gets an error that is mostly the same as the first, except in place of the computer name is the name of the workgroup, and the last line is as follows:
"The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available"
Both firewalls are off (although when they were on they were both set to enable file sharing) and the internet connection on both is perfect.
Any ideas?

  • Best method to synch addy book from two computers not networked together?

I have two Macs, un-networked, and two diff. operating systems. 10.2.8 and 10.3.9. What is the best way to synch em' up on a regular basis? Thanks.

first let me say i dont know if there are any compatability issues with address book in 10.2 and 10.3. I suspect there may be. If not…
get a .mac account - which of course costs
You could alternatively buy some syncing software ( unfortunately there doesnt seem to be any freeware syncing options) and use sometype of transfer medium (usb thumb drive?)

  • Computers Not reported yet

    Hi,
I'm having problems with a WSUS configured on a Windows Server 2012 R2.
The computers take and install the updates but in console they appear as
    Not reported yet (different type of operation system - Windows 7, 8, 8.1, Server 2008, 2008R2, 2012 and 2012R2).
I've tried to delete the computers from server, wuauclt /resetauthorization /reportnow but the result was the same.
From all workstation I can access all WSUS related IIS links without any problem.
    I attach a windowsupdate.log from a station:

Yes, on the same server it's installed and configured a SCCM 2012 R2.
Well, that's that then. Configuration Manager Software Updates clients do NOT report to the WSUS server.
From what i've seen reinstalling OS of the system resolves the problem, but this cannot be a solution.
No, it won't, because shortly thereafter ConfigMgr is going to grab ahold of that system again and make it a ConfigMgr client, and disable client reporting to the SUP.
The *solution* is to ENABLE reporting to the Software Update Point in the ConfigMgr SUP Configuration settings.

  • ACS 5.3 - 11033 Selected Service type is not Network Access

I have some older devices on the network that only support RADIUS (not TACACS) for authentication and would like to have them use SecureACS 5.3
I understand that by default, ACS only supports TACACS for device administration.  So I'll get this error when trying RADIUS:
11033 Selected Service type is not Network Access
    Description:
RADIUS requests can only be processed by Access Services that are of type Network Access
    Resolution Text:
Verify that the Service Selection Policy rules are correct
However, even after adjusting the Service Selection rules and seeing hits, I still see the same message in the logs, as if it has no affect.  Any Ideas?

If you use the protocol as radius you can not use a device admin service. You can only use network access. That will allow you for authentication to the devices.

  • How to sync with two computers not at the same time, I'm registerd with one computer

How to sync with two computers (not at the same time), I'm registered with one computer and am trying to connect with second computer with same iPhone. To sync the first time with the second PC "Firefox Sync Option tells me Create New account or Connect, when I connect it gives me a Passcode and on iPhone it also gives me a Passcode, than how do I connect? Both the iPhone and PC gives me a Passcode and have now idea what to do with them.
Where do I find my Sync Key ? so I can install manually if it works ?

Use the Sync Key ''(Recovery Key)'' from the PC that you used to initially setup your Firefox Sync service, when setting up that 2nd PC with Sync. You need to use '''Add a device''' to setup the 2nd and subsequent devices on a Sync account. <br />

  • Non-domain computers not reporting

I have a few machines that are not joined to the domain, but use our domain joined WSUS server.  Never had a problem before, but this problem seems to have started when I did the migration to 2012 R2.  I used the TechNet migration procedures that
I later found can be somewhat problematic.  I just discovered that the computers not joined to the domain are having issues.  I'm still trying to confirm whether they're actually getting updates, but the certainly aren't reporting.
I have confirmed the clients cannot contact http://myserver/selfupdate/wuident.cab.  I've looked at permissions in IIS, but the only article I've found is for WSUS 3.2 (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd939903(v=ws.10).aspx).  It talks
about anonymous access being enabled for reportingwebservice and I verified it is.  I've also found people reference a ReportingWebService virtual directory in IIS, but I only see it as an application and not a virtual directory so I'm guessing they changed
the way that works since all my domain joined machines work just fine.  Can anyone provide a 2012 R2 reference to setting permissions correctly so I can confirm that?
I'm getting these errors in WindowsUpdate.log:
WU client failed Searching for update with error 0x80244019

It looks like you have not included the port number, 8530 is used by default with 2012R2. Try http://myserver:8530/selfupdate/wuident.cab.

  • Auto certificate enrollment for computers not happening

    Hi
In my environment the auto certificate enrollment for computers not happening through GPO.
Domain computers has permission of enroll on computer certificate template.
    Please suggest.
    Regards,
    Deepak S

    Hi,
Please reconfirm the Autoenrollment group policy is configured and applied to the user or machine. Verify the Group Policy settings set the proper registry settings. If Group
Policy is configured correctly, the next step is to troubleshoot enrollment.
Autoenrollment requires the use of Version 2 or Version 3 Certificate Templates. Certificate Authorities must be on the appropriate OS Version and edition. The table below
outlines OS Version and Edition support for Version 2 and Version 3 certificate templates.

  • Can't see local computers in network neighborhood anymore

    Hello,
I bought a WRT610N on Friday to replace my WRT54G and while it is running great I have a small issue.
If I go to browse my local network, I don't see a list of computers like I used to with the WRT54G
If I type \\computername then I can access the shares on each computer as well as be able to \\computername\c$
I can ping all of them and yes all of them are on the same workgroup as well as the router itself.
What setting I need disabled in the router so I can "see" my computers in network neighborhood
    Thanks

Are you able to access the computer using the ip address of that particular computer....? Try that and check if you can access the computer using the ip address instead of the name.

I recently received 2 emails form Apple checking if I had purchased 2 games from the App store that were downloaded to computers not associated with my ID. They then advised me to change my password if I had not made those purchase.  How do I know that emails are legit?  I am afraid that they are scams to get my information by going on  to supply information.  I had checked my credit card just now and no transactions have been posted yet. Thanks!

You can always manually go to http://appleid.apple.com and change your password there, to avoid any links from the emails.
That's the only place you should use to change your Apple Id password.
With that said, do you know if anybody may have used your Apple Id to download things? Like kids to a new computer or tablet?

Using a WD external HD via Firewire 800 to backup my main computer with Time Machine. I use my 13" MacBook Pro while away from home for weeks, then putting it away when home.
