Computers will not speak to each other

Has anyone found this? I have two computers both running Adobe CS5.5 when I save files on to my external hard drive and try to edit in the other computer the files are not visible.
If I open the files on the external hard drive they are only available if I am using the computer from which I saved them.
I never had this problem before I upgraded to latest version.
What I cant't understand is that this is an external hard drive so why are only the files I saved available when only using the computer I saved them on? It is important I can use both computers with hard drive.
Can anyhone help? It's driving me mad.

Are you on a Mac or Windows? You may want to check how the drive is formatted and that permissions are being ignored so you can use the same drive between computers. This may require you to reformat the drive or adjust permissions. I think NTFS formatted drives are a little trickier.
Unless you are pushing around mega sized files I'd suggest using Dropbox to share between two machines. External drives can be really flakey and I've even have models designed for portability flake out on me and die within less than 1/4 their warranty period.

On Mac it is as simple as going to the drive, hitting get info and checking "Ignore Ownership Permissions" on the bottom of the get info pane (this will not work on a Time Machine Backup.
On Windows assuming it is NTFS you'll have to go a little deeper into the permissions and probably are better off just reformatting to FAT32. I want to say that it has probably changed since my last venture into it which was the XP days.
What computer type and operating system you are using may be of help. External drive brand may also be helpful. Many of them come preformatted NTFS with Macs given an installation to MacFuse on the drive to install. MacFuse has has a few issues between which versions of Mac OS X and functionality from 10.5–10.7 is different. In some cases I've had to install forks or nonstandard versions that were not the release. Drives will almost always ship with an antiquated version of MacFuse.

I am making a wedding video. I want to break it up into intro, ceremony, reception, interviews etc. I made a seperate video for each of them in hopes that each one can be watched on DVD seperately or ALL in a row. I drag Intro, ceremony, reception, interviews into IDVD so there are 4 videos in a row. The DVD will play ONLY ONE at a time. I want the option that if they start with intro that it will just play into the other 3 videos below it...
PLEASE HELP!

the only possibility to create a DVD with several movies and have the option to either play the parts separatly or "play all" as in commercial DVDs is to duplicate your movie(s).
This means you have to import the individual movies (as you already did), then create a new movie where you join the parts into one. Now import that movie as well and name the menu button "play all".
Important: this can only work if the combined parts are less than 60 min long (DVD-R is max 120 min).
Alternatively you could create a single movie out of the four parts and place chapter markers for each individual title (ceremony, reception...) the let iDVD create a chapter submenu. Now the separate titles can be accessed from there.

Please can you help. I have an iPhone 4 which up until a month ago was working fine. Now all of a sudden I can't make calls on it. The phone will ring both ends but will not connect to each other. The speaker button is highlighted with no sound.

I can't really remember what I wrote in the heading but I am desperate for help. I have basically got a very expensive iPod. Calls will connect so the call ticker will go round but there isno sound from either side. Also the speakerphone button will be constantly pressed but still no sound. I have restored it many times, sent it back to apple but they could find no fault. I have done everything but with no joy. I just want to make phone calls!!!

Mail and Address Book Not Speaking to Each Other

I recently upgraded to 10.7.4 and at that time decided to drop Thunderbird and Mozilla as my default Email set up. I embraced using iCal, Mail, and Address Book. I manage two POP based email accounts and 2 Gmail accounts for work. I have a very long tree of folders based upon customers in my On My Mac - Email Archive.
It was a pain to get files up and over to Mail from Thunderbird in the first place. I have used this set up for a few months and am not trying to get the most out of it. I am having issues with Address Book speaking with Mail. Address Book has a bunch of contacts that have mostly been pulled our of my Gmail address book but none of my business POP account clients show up. I can not add them to the Address Book. There is no error message. Further more using Past Recipients shows nothing. I am frustrated but can not afford to lose all the project information in previous emails.
Any suggestions?

To reinstall the progams, who don't you use your computers CD drive?
This could help between the communcation between your Mac and your external Drive. I experienced this problem but with a external HD, and this link solved it.

When connecting to server the other computers will not mount on the desktop

I have three computers connected wireless and ethernet. When connecting to the imac and mac pro with my macbook pro the other computers will not mount on the desktop. I have never had a problem like this before.
The imac and mac pro will mount the laptop or imac and the imac will mount the mac pro and laptop.
When I connect to the server with the laptop I can access everything thru the shared folders but nothing will mount on the laptop desktop using the, connect to server.
External HD connected with firewire will mount and the internal cd/dvd will mount.
I have ran permissions repair on the laptop. Have I accidently changed some configuration I am not aware of?
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated

Dick,
I know this sounds silly but while in Finder goto (Finder)/(Preferences) and then make sure your on the (General) tab, make sure all the things you want to show are checked.
If that doesn't help move the com.apple.finder.plist to the desktop you can find in in ~/Library/Preferences ( ~ = Your Home Folder), log out/log in, and see if that fixes the problem if not go ahead and move the plist file back.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

With a wired keyboard and a 2014 iMac I cannot select multiple items which are not next to each other

I have recently changed from Windows 7 desktop to a new iMac running Mavericks. I have chosen a wired keyboard as I like the usual Delete key function.
I cannot find out how to select several items which are not next to each other (e.g. words in Pages). The well known method in Windows, which is repeated in the the Apple Finder Help screen, does not work. Would be grateful for advice

Are you saying that you bought the game from the App store and made another copy onto a dvd so you can play it on another computer too? If so, you can not do that, you have to buy it again for the other computer.

I meant holding the "option" (or "alt") key on your keyboard as you click the Outlook icon on the Dock, and continuing to hold it until you see the Microsoft Database Utility come up. Alternatively, you can open the utility by navigating to Applications/Microsoft Office 2011/Office and then double-clicking the Microsoft Database Utility app.
When you rebuild your database using that program, a backup copy of your original database (containing your account info, contacts, mail, calendars, etc) will be created. As a security precaution, you should also ensure you have a backup of your database (which you can find by going to Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2011 Identities/ and copying the contents of that folder onto an external drive).

PCs connecting to ME3400 Switch not pinging to each other!!

We have a new ME-3400-24TS-A Switch.Its a 24 10/100 Mbps switch.But when we connect the two PCs on its any of the two ports ,they are not pinging to each other.Both the PCs are in the same Network.

The ports in the same vlan don't do local switching per default on a ME3400. You have to enable local switching for a vlan with the commands "vlan xxx" and "uni-vlan community".
But, only 8 ports can be in the same vlan. So, maybe you have choose the wrong switch if you need a normal L2 switch. Normally, in Metro Ethernet you don't want local switching between user ports.

NetWeaver XI components are not talking to each other

I am an XI consultant, i dont have proper Basis support at my client, since they are fond of only ABAP stack.
They installed netweaver xi from the market place.
I am unable to import any SWCV (even SAP BASIS) from SLD to IR and IR menu is blank.
Unable to find list of adapters in Integration Directory.
RWB -component monitoring is blank .
SLD- creation of products,SWCV,Technical Sys,Buss Sys is possible.
In conclusion i can say that they all are not co-operative and not talking to each other
And also i want to know wheather xi 7.0 is compatable to databases Oracle 8.0.3 and Oracle 8.0.4

Does the XI post Installation steps done by the team or not? It seems that there is some steps missing while doing the XI installation. Talk to to the BASIS team and tryu to find out the solution.

In my view, yes. XI is compatible with all the versions of Oracle Database above version 8 but never tried it.

Try this:
Log out of the iTunes Store on your device:
Settings>iTunes & App Store...tap your Apple ID, then select "Sign Out"
Reset your device:
Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.
