COMPUTERS WONT AUTOMATICALLY PICK UP TC NETWORK

Hi there..
There's always something that doesn't go according to plan!
I have just upgraded our network to a TC500GB. All our macs can see the TC network and I have also added them all as clients to bypass the WPA security. I have listed the TC network as the automatic preference for each computer to join. The problem is that every time we turn (any) of the computers on it tells us that "none of your wireless networks can be found..." then gives a list of all the networks to join including at the top of the list, the same TC network.
So basically, you have to manually select the network each time you wake/restart. Not really a life threatening problem, but surely something that a NETGEAR router never seemed to mind.
I have tried the system prefs automatically joining the network both via a WPA password and with no password, but either way, the computer cannot automatically join the network.. We are running 10.5 and 10.4, so I think it's the TC network that's not doing something right.
Any ideas or even a few people to tell me they have the same problem, so i don't feel all alone out here in technological computer network land...
Many thanks

This is likely a wireless network problem. Did you name your TC network the same as your old Netgear network? Not sure, but you can check your keychain settings to see if it is using your old Netgear password instead of a newer password.

  • Does anyone know why my MacBook Air doesn't automatically pick up WiFi from my Time Machine? I have to choose my network everytime I open the laptop

I have attempted several different choices within preferences and yet, it still won't work.  The confusing part, is that when I'm at a different location, and have chosen a WIFI network there, each time I open the laptap, it automatically connects to that network. Not so at home.  Thanks for any help or suggestions!

Open Finder, press Option key, select Go > Library, open Preferences and delete com.apple.network.prefPaneSimulate.plist. If it doesn't work, open > http://rys.sommefeldt.com/2011/09/04/osx-lion-wifi.html http://www.reedcorner.net/understanding-upgrade-nightmares/

I have just bought a Humax 7500T PVR and a Humax W-Lan dongle to connect to my Airport Extreme.
I have put the mac address into the AE. The installation screen on my TV is picking up the network name but once appied it won't connect to the internet.
I've a few other things connected to the AE such as computers, ipad, itouch, etc, and have never had a problem connecting these once I've entered the mac address into the AE. Can anyone help me with this please?

have you made sure that the network setting in the system preferences is set up to use dhcp? if not i would try changing it so that it shows that it is getting its address by dhcp

i just got a iphone 5 and it wont automatically connect to my home wifi?

    Hello Andy,
Congratulations on your new iPhone 5!  It sounds like it is not automatically connecting to you home Wi-Fi network.  I recommend following the steps under the section titled "Unable to automatically connect to Wi-Fi" in the following article for this specific issue:

  • UNIX to Automatically Join an Open Network

I am looking for a UNIX command or a preferences file that will let me change a preference to many computers.
What I want to change is in Network Preferences, Airport, click the Options button and next to
"If no recent networks are found:"
I want to change this from "Ask before joining an open network" to Automatically join an open network".
    Thanks

    Hi James,
I don't use Airport so I can't give you explicit advice. However, info about is often posted here so let me take a shot to get things rolling. A nice utility that Apple provides to make changes to an Airport network interface is
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/\
    Versions/A/Resources/airport
According to the help printout of that utility, the preference file for it is:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/\
    com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
Note that I've broken both paths into two lines to that the rendering of this thread doesn't get messed up.

    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Does OS X automatically choose the best network adapter?

When both USB Ethernet adapter connected and Wifi turned on does OS X automatically pick Ethernet (as it is the faster route), or do I have to turn off Wifi to force my Mac Air (on Lion 1072) to use Ethernet?
    Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

In Network preferences you will see the following:
Click on the tool/gear icon to display the above list. Select Set Service Order. Put your network connections in the order of preference.

  • Can I use this app to log on to computers that are not in a network

I'd like to be able to log on to a few clients' computers who are not on one network and be able to provide remote tech support.
Will this Remote Desktop app work for that, or does it only work for computers that are all on the same network?

Thanks so much.  I couldn't tell by reading all the literature if it was possible or not and no one at Apple could help.  I had a feeling it wasn't going to work the way I wanted it to.  I will check out LogMeIn and see if that suits better.
Appreciate very much your responding to me so quickly.
    Thank you!

  • Macbook no longer connects automatically with my home network

When i travel and return home, my macbook no longer will automatically join my home network. Is there a way to make the current network your on a 'trusted' network or a default network to join via airport?
    thanks!

Have you tried adding your home wireless network as a "Preferred Network" in your MacBook's AirPort settings?
    o System Preferences > Network > Show > AirPort

  • After updating my iPhone 5 to iOS 8.1 it will not connect to the wifi network at work even though it recognizes it. It however still automatically connects to the network at home. I have restared the phone and toggled the router, still no connection

After updating my iPhone 5 to iOS 8.1 it will not connect to the wifi network at work even though it recognizes it. It however still automatically connects to the network at home (this is the network I used to update the phone). My iPad however does not seem to have any problem connecting. I have restared the phone, toggled the router, re-entered the network password but there's still no connection.

When your device is trying to connect to the work Wi-Fi network, go to Settings > Wi-Fi > then tap on the name of the Netowrk that she is having trouble with. Then tap on forget this network. Let the device attempt to connect again and make absolutely sure she is trying to connect to the work network and not a nearby network, then make absolutely sure the password is entered correctly.

  • Does ipod nano automatically pick up new purchases when I plug it in to the computer?

When I bring new music into my itunes library the song is checked.  will the nano automatically pick up new purchases when I plug it in again?  Or do I have to start over?  I hit sync again but not sure whether I have to do that every time I charge it.

Depends on how you have your iPod set up to Sync.  For example if your iPod is configured to sync only checked songs and videos, make sure each new track you add to iTunes has a tick mark next to it.  The next time you sync your iPod (assuming it set up to automatically sync), the new tracks will be added.

    If yes
    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem
