yes, I know, this kind of question has passed before...
In order to eliminate everything which could cause my iMac to shut down itself after a while running, I really would be pleased to get a clear answer on this one. It seems more and more that it shuts itself down when it's on "regime" temp., if you know what I mean.
Anyway is there anybody out there who can say which speeds are normal (compared to intensive/not intensive use of your mac)? @ which temps?
On my iMac they are ALWAYS the same (even @ cold start), even if you see the temps going up.
I think that's weird: you should expect them to go up once in a while, no? Especially when it's getting "on temperature".
CPU fan: 1198 to 1202 rpm
Hard Drive: 1598 to 1602 rpm
Optical drive: 798 to 900 rpm
What speeds do your iMac fans run?
Any additional info or questions would be more then welcome.

thats exactly what i thought when i read the packaging- it looks more like a neck strap than a shoulder strap... its quite small as well.
anyway- anyone who wears their ZM on their shoulder or neck is asking for it to be stolen if u ask me... even with mine as gorgeous as it looks, it stays in my bag! its a good idea to get a remote so you dont have to continually be getting the player out all the time... but then again... it looks so gud i almost want to get it out anyway for the sake of it lol

Becasue I had the Developers GM installed, I didn't think that I would need to download Mavericks again. But I did, just for fun. It was then that I found that the Dev GM had a different versoin number than the 'release' version. I forgot to check the version that I was running, but I went ahead and 'updated' my machine with the 'newer' version of the installation app.
Now my version number is "13A603"... is that what everyone else is reading?

If you have Pages you can create customs pages for your book as TD suggested. If you have Pages from iWork 09 or 11 this app will add 80 or so additional frames to those offered: Frames and Strokes Installer. Don't use it on the latest Pages version, however.
This tutorial shows how to create a custom page with the theme's background: iP11 - Creating a Custom Page, with the Theme's Background for an iPhoto Book. Once the page is complete to get it into iPhoto as a jpeg file follow these steps:
Here's how to get any file into iPhoto as a jpeg file:
1 - open the file in any application that will open it.
2 - type Command+P to start the print process.
3 - click on the PDF button and select "Save PDF to iPhoto".
NOTE: If you don't have any of those options go to Toad's Cellar and download these two files:
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Save PDF to iPhoto 300 DPI.workflow.zip
Unzip the files and place in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder and reboot.
4 - select either of the files above (300 dip is used for photos to be included in a book that will be ordered).
5 - in the window that comes up enter an album name or select an existing album and hit the Continue button.
That will create a 200 or 300 dpi jpeg file of the item being printed and import it into iPhoto. For books to be printed choose 300 dpi.

if you’re running an older version of OS X, then the reason why you’re not getting available updates is that Apple isn’t making any more updates for that version.

Neither she not the commercial says anything about being eligible for an upgrade. So another wasted trip to Verizon. I will be eligible for upgrade in Feb 2015. I have the 5s in excellent condition. If I am willing to extend my contract for another 2 yrs I don't see why it should matter about an upgrade. I think I should be able to trade in and get reduced price. Just another ripoff but at least they could tell you upfront what is expected before a trip is made..

You don't need to be eligible for an upgrade to take advantage of the trade-in. You can still get the $200 off on the trade in, however I think that offer may have already expired. The $200 off would simply be on the full retail price which starts at $650.
You have to be eligible for an upgrade to get a discounted phone, but that has ALWAYS been the case. The commercial says NOTHING about waiving that requirement of the contract you had already signed. The trip was wasted ONLY because you were hoping to get out of your contract when NO indication you would be able to do so was given.
Verizon doesn't "extend" contracts as you would like because Verizon would have people with 10 year contracts and an ETF of over $1000 if they chose to leave. Of course, people would then complain about that.
Example:
Sign a 2 yr contract and have a $350 ETF.
After a year, you want a new phone and extend the contract 2 years(3 years total now) with another $350 ETF, bringing the ETF up to $350 + $350 - $120 = $580
After a year, you want a new phone and extend the contract 2 years(4 years total now) with another $350 ETF, bringing the ETF up to $350 + $580 - $120 = $810
After a year you want a new phone and extend the contract 2 years(5 years total now) with another $350 ETF, bringing the ETF up to $350 + $810 - $120 = $1040.
ONLY 3 years after signing your original contract someone could easily be locked in with a 5 year contract and a $1040 ETF for a single line. Verizon would be CRAZY to allow people to do this.

Regardless, it is not a matter of carrier locking. Verizon iPhone 5 phones were never GSM sim-locked to begin with. Every iPhone Verizon has sold since the introduction of the iPhone 5 has been sold with an unlocked GSM slot, as required in the USA by their agreement with the FCC. They have not been allowed to sell any iPhone 5, iPhone 5c nor iPhone 5s devices with GSM carrier locking in place.
Your connection problems are from some other cause - it is NOT a carrier locking issue.

How to figure out in which albums you have your picture

I'm coming from iViewMedia Pro and in there, it was very easy to see in which folder a picture was stored in. Just a click on the image, and the folders it was in, turned bold.
However, I have not figured out, how to see all the albums a picture is in with Aperture. Any hints?

At the time, there is no option to show in which other albums an image is just by selecting it. Since an image only live in a specific project, there is a way to show which project. Here's how you do it:
In the Metadata pane, select "Tooltips" from the drop down list.
Click the "Other" button at the bottom of the pane. This will take you into edit mode. Then add "Project" to the Tooltips list by checking it.
Now, when you go back to your albums and hover over an image you can press "T" to toggle the Tooltips and it will show you in which project the hovered image lives in.
