Comressord running in Activty Monitor

I've done a search in the forum and couldn't find an answer...
I'm on MBP and after quitting compressor, my Activity monitor shows in red "compressord (Not Responding)". I've tried to force quit from Activity Monitor but it pops back on.
Any suggestions how I can keep it off?
Thanks-
MBP 17   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   2 gig ram

You probably have a job that never completed because of a crash or a forced quit. When a process is highlighted in red in the Activity Monitor it means that the process is either hung (truly and completely) or it may just be so busy that it isn't responding in the way that the system expects. compressord sometimes does the latter and I'd consider that somewhat "normal." How you can get the job(s) that are currently pending to complete or to be cancelled is another matter. If you manually launch Compressor's Batch Monitor do you see any pending jobs? How about it you submit a batch job with Compressor and then check Batch Monitor? If you can get these jobs to appear in Batch Monitor you should be able to cancel them, but give Batch Monitor a good amount of time to work on the cancel before you quit or restart your system. If the former doesn't work just let the system run for several hours unattended and see if the jobs clear by themselves.

How do i run an external monitor with my macbook and change settings so that when i close the lid the signal to the monitor is not lost and i can continue using the mac with a mouse and a wireless keyboard?

No, nothing will prevent the computer from going to sleep when you close its display except third-party hacks that are designed to do exactly that. I strongly advise against using any of those, as they may interfere with successful entry into clamshell mode (and they carry other downside risks as well). Just wait until the computer is asleep (with its sleep light pulsing), then press any key on the keyboard. It sounds as though your setup is working as it's designed to do.

Select each one and Force Quit it.
But be careful there are many processes that are run by the OS that if quit will cause problems possibly even crash the system.

How can I run a vga monitor and projector together on my Mac Pro OSX 15"?

You can upgrade to Snow Leopard, Lion or Mountain Lion (coming next month), but you need Snow Leopard to upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion. Check this web to know how to add memory to your computer and the memory that it supports (probably, 3 GB).

  • IMac 27" late 2013 run an external monitor at 4K on 60Hz?

    Hey,
Not entirely sure if it is possible to do either on OSx or on a Windows Bootcamp, but is it possible to run an
external monitor at 4K at 60Hz? The graphics chip is a GT 755M but I cannot find any information regarding this matter.
Any pointers would be great thanks.

    Hello JHyde01,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you want to use a 4K display with your Mac, the displays are limited to a Maximum of 50Hz on one specific model as shown below.
You can use 4K displays and Ultra HD TVs at the following resolutions and refresh rates via the built-in HDMI port.
    3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz refresh rate
4096 x 2160 at 24 Hz refresh rate (mirroring is not supported at this resolution)
With OS X Mavericks v10.9.3 or later, the following DisplayPort displays are supported at their default using single-stream transport (SST) at 30Hz.
    Sharp PN-K321
    ASUS PQ321Q
    Dell UP2414Q
    Dell UP3214Q
    Panasonic TC-L65WT600
With OS X Yosemite, you can use all of the above displays as well as the following:
    LG 31MU97 4K display (at 30Hz or 50Hz)
Other Mac models do support MST displays at 60Hz as shown below.
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013, Mac Pro (Late 2013), and iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014) computers also support multi-stream transport (MST) displays at 60 Hz. If you use a 60Hz MST display with the MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013) or iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014), only one additional Thunderbolt display can be supported.

  • How do i run 2 external monitors on my mac book pro?

  • Trying to run 2 external monitors with HDMI splitter

I'm trying to run two external monitors from my iMac using an HDMI splitter but I can only get signal to one. I've read a lot of forums saying it is not possible to run two monitors from an iMac but the two monitors can be mirrored, in fact, I would be prefer it if they were.
I've got the mini-DVI to HDMI cable running to an HDMI splitter, one end going to my 52'' Sharp Aquos tv and the other to my 21" BenQ monitor in the kitchen.
I would just like to be able to have both monitors playing the same video at the sametime, I don't understand why this would not be possible.
I'm at work so I don't have the exact specifications but I recently purchased my iMac and have the i7 processor and the Radeon 5750 graphics card so I know it's not a hardware limitation
    What am I doing wrong?

I will reply to my own question just because I figured out the answer.
The Larger display has to be set to the maximum settings of the smaller display
For example: My sharp aquos has to be set to 720p BEFORE plugging in the BenQ which will not do 1080p
If you try to plug in the benQ before setting the Aquos to 720p, it will not work and you will not be able to change it after the fact.
May seem simple now, but boy did that drive me crazy for a while.

  • X230 and running 2 external monitors

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could let me know if its possible to run 2 external monitors on the Lenovo x230.
[MONITOR 1]              [laptop screen]        [MONITOR 2]
MONITOR 1= connecting via mini display port to HDMI  >> to monitor
MONITOR 1= connecting via VGA >> to monitor
I tried the above but I cant get it working on all 3 only - the 1 external 1 laptop screen works
Does anyone know if the X230 grahics card was designed to handle that?
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You need a series 3 dock with 2 DP/DVI to be able to handle 2 external LCD in addition to the internal LCD.

  • Running 2 External Monitors w/ Laptop Monitor in Elitebook 8760W

I have an 8760W Elitebook w/ the AMD FirePro M5950 (FireGL V) graphics card.  I am wanting to set it up so I can have 3 monitors (2 external and the onboard laptop display).  I am currently connected to an HP docking station (HSTNN-I11X).  The docking station has 3 display connections, DVI, VGA, & Display Port.  I currently have a Samsung monitor connected to the DVI port and an LG monitor connected to the display port via display port to DVI adapter.  When I go to my system properties to set up my monitors all three are shown.  So I know the system is recognizing all three.  When trying to extend my desktop to all three monitors I keep getting an error message on the third monitor.  It says "unable to save changes".  I know this computer is capable of running 5 external monitors with AMD Eyefinity software but that only recognizes 2 monitors at a time as well.  What can I do to make all three of these work.  I would prefer to have my desktop extended to all three as opposed to using the eyefinity setup but neither will work at this time.  Also I just installed the latest driver for the card from AMDs website in hopes that it would solve my issue, nope.

    Hi @Stric_IX ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Elitebook 8760W using three or more monitors at one time. Only two monitors may be connected using VGA, DVI, or HDMI. In order to use three or more monitors, a Display Port dongle is required. Here is a document on connecting more than two monitors.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

  • Mac Mini running a second monitor

Does anyone know the possibilites of running a second monitor off the Mac Mini (I am currently running a Mac Mini Dual Core)? I was just reading about this USB to SVGA adapter that was in works by this company called Tritton (http://www.trittontechnologies.com/). I guess they are working on one but there website says that the release of this product has been postponed. Are there any other products out there that anyone knows about?

  • A30 run in dual monitor mode?

I have an old A21p that allows me to run an LCD monitor as an extention of my laptop screen, making one big long monitor.  The A21p is having some major problems so I would like to use my A30 the same way.  Anyone know how to set it up?  Control Panel/display/settings does not show me the option of two monitors like the A21p does.

You probably don't have the correct setup for  A30, since it should have no issue running the way you want it...
My A31p is out sick, and I'm too tired right now to fire up a spare A31 that I have and load XP on it to test, but, in the meantime, give this a shot, it may or may not work:

  • Running two extrenal monitors

Is there a docking station that will allow me two run two external monitors? I don't have a Mac laptop yet but right now that's the only reason I can see to get a Dell. I am running two externals and want to continue.

While not specifically answering your question, you would probably need to find yourself an ExpressCard/34 video adapter to run a 2nd display.
