  • Can we create a (RAC) db service to assign a conc mgr to an instance

    Hi Everyone,
Can we create a rac db service to for EBusiness? For example, can we create a service for AP module to run on instance1 of a two nodes RAC, and a service for PO to run on instance2.
I know i can assign a node to a conc mgr and use the specialization rule to include/exclude a user to send request to that conc mgr. But this seperation is done at the ebusiness, not at database service.
My understanding was that we can not create a service at the db because all the requests comes from one conc mgr. But having the ability to create more than one conc mgr, so maybe the question now is can i create a service for a conc mgr. lets say, I create a db service for standardard mgr on instance1 and create a db service for custom_mgr on node2. Is this possible?
I am not on the distribution list, please email me at [email protected]

  • Oracle Reports to Excel via Conc Mgr

    Hi-
I'm trying to get Oracle Report to Excel output via the Conc Mgr. I've tried various options including Desformat=DelimitedData, Destype=localfile, Desformat=Delimited. I'm unable to get it to Open in Excel in any legible format.
The best results I've gotten is using Desformat=Delimited w/in the rdf, View Requests - Choose Excel for Output, Choose Save to desktop, open w/ Excel and change text to data. My problem is that the delimiter is set to comma, but my data has commas in it. I tried creating a user parameter DELIMITER default Value = |; I tried setting up options in Conc Prog Reg screen DESFORMAT=DELIMITED DELIMITER='|', as well as setting System Parameter DESFORMAT= DELIMITED DELIMITER='|' w/in reports. It sets the delimiter as desired if I run it from my desktop and generate to a local file, but as soon as I move it and run it thru conc mgr it switches the delimiter back to comma.
    Thx-Tara

    Hi,
You could use SYLK or BI Publisher. Check out my blog posts here:
    SYLK:
    http://garethroberts.blogspot.com/2007/10/excel-file-output-from-oracle.html
    XML / BI Publisher:
    http://garethroberts.blogspot.com/2007/09/standard-report-to-csv-file-via-bi.html
Note that neither of these outputs are "native" binary Excel - SYLK is its own format and BI Publisher is XHTML.

  • Where should I put the conc mgr mid-tier or backend ?

    Hello All,
Is there any advantage to putting the conc mgrs on the mid-tier as opposed to the database tier other than saving some memory usage on the database tier ? All the work would be carried out on the database tier wouldn't it ?
    thanks
    Dave

    Hi,
What I was really looking for was, if there is some particular advantage I could gain from putting the mgrs on the mid-tier ? The main advatange is having all the application tier files on one node which make it easier to maintain than having the application tier nodes split on both tiers. In this case, you will have to patch the application only once (not on every node where APPL_TOP is presented).
If I put the conc mgrs on the apps tier, this means that I would never need to apply patches to the backend, given that all the apps software is on the apps tier and the database software is on the database tier. If I have 2 apps tiers I could use pcp ? But since all the work is carried out on the db tier this (pcp) would be a pointless exercise right ? You cannot use PCP if you place all the application tier files on one node. If you want to have PCP, you will need to have multiple application tier nodes.
    Thanks,

  • Need to calling "Submit Measures" from Conc.Mgr

We would like to be able to run the "Submit Measures" from the Conc.Mgr. instead of asking each of our rebuyer to open "Demand Planning Workbench" and select the "Submit Measures" button. A batch program should ease our process.
Anyway, we're not able to identify what is the program being called - is it a Java, PL/SQL or Express function ?

    Hello,
I am not familiar with Express, I just apply Metalink procedure used when I open Service Requests.
To enable Express debug mode in Demand Planning, set the value of profile option MSD: Client Debugging to Y.
Then, when you log as Demand planner, in Demand planning workbench, there is an icon 'Express Monitor' through which you can query like on Express server.
Open this window and run line by line commands :
    aw list
    dbgoutfile ODPDIR/trace.log
    prgtrace=y
    badline=y=> you have activated debugging.
Submit your measure (do not perform to many actions before stopping debugging, else, everything would be traced).
Re-open express monitor window and stop the Debug :
dbgoutfile eofOn your server, in ODPDIR directory, you will find the trace file.
I hope it will help you to find some ideas.

    Hi,
Make sure that, while upgrading the database you have successfully ran the cr9idiata.pl. And also ORA_NLS10 is pointing to the correct locatation, and that it has read and write permissions.
This variable (ORA_NLS10) must be exported before starting the database.

  • Single step request submit to conc mgr

Does anyone have an example of a fnd_request.submit_request with the new “single step” approach where you provide the template? I can’t find any doc on the parameter name to specify the template to use in the output. Basically how to specify the additional output options when submitting a request via PL/SQL.
    Thanks.

Thanks! A Metlink search found Note: 308658.1 which seems to spell it out. Now to try it.

  • Concurrent Manager not starting after patching/ cloning

    Hi,
We have an issue where after cloning and/or patching an environment the concurrent manager doesn't start. Our steps to resolve this problem have thus far been as follows:
    1. Apply 3830807
    2. Run autoconfig
    3. Run cmclean.sql on environment
    4. Check the libc* files in 8.0.6 ORACLE_HOME/lib/stubs
We had an instance after a patch was applied where the conc mgr did not start and we applied all of the above, in that order. No success. We then decided to apply the 3830807 patch again and run autoconfig- basically re- run steps 1 and 2. Success. In another instance, running the cmclean.sql resolved the error. In some instances, simply shutting down the application and DB and restarting will be enough.
Our problem is that the resolution to this error always seems random. What may work in one instance almost never works in another. Additionally, the problem has started since we've applied ATG RUP 6 to our LIVE environment and our clones. Coincidence?
We have logged an SR but I feel like we're being spun in circles- I'm not getting a direct answer or resolution path from them.
If someone could provide some guidance on a proper resolution path for this conc mgr issue I would very much appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Lia.

Basically the approach we're now taking (and that's working) is that after applying a patch, or set of patches, we apply patch 3830807 and then run autoconfig on the db and apps tier. We then shut down the application (if not already down) and the database and then bring everything back up.
Thanks to all for their assistance.
    Lia.

  • STRANGE Issue in submitting Concurrent Request - 11.5.10.2

    Hello Gurus,
I am facing a weird issue in submitting an Oracle EBS report(.rdf file).
    Below is the problem description.
[1] - When I submit the report, it goes into running mode.
[2] - It stays in running mode forever.
[3] - When we run the same report in non Production environments, report complete instantly.
[4] - Even the same report runs perfectly well from report designer.
[5] - All tuning considerations are well cleared. The same report is fetching data instantly everywhere in prod.
[6] - The STRANGE thing that we have noticed that, when we submit the concurrent request, the ORACLE_PROCESS_ID in   FND_CONCURRENT_REQUEST does not get populated. It is NULL. For all other request, there is process ID.
[7] - We even recreated Concurred program but still no luck.
[8] - Bounced Database, Middle Tier but still no luck.
[9] - Redefined a new conc mgr but still no luck.I believe #6 from above is a critical lead towards the problem. Having run out of all options, I am posting it here on the forum. All Tuning aspects are well taken care. It is rock solid and tuned to death. Without taking care of Tuning, I would not have posted this.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
I am really frustate with this Oracle Apps R12 instance on my Machine but dont have any other options.
First time when i completed installation Concurrent Manager was running perfectly fine.
but once i restarted machine, concurrent manager was down.
I tried to start services conc-manager with all the alternates but Hard Luck.
In the Concurent manager Administrator -- The actual and target process limits is not matching, no precess is pending too.
    I tried.
    1 - I tried adstpall.cmd and then adstrtal.cmd then also no success.
2 - I droped all the services and ran the CMCLEAN.sql no success.
    3 - I tried adautocfg.cmd but no success.
If any one can help me out, i will be great full to him/her.
I repeated the whole process 3-4 times from the fresh installation to end.
    Thanks in Advance
    Bachan.

    Hi,
I was exploring some of the posts and found some one thing about the log file.
I checked the conc-mgr log file inside -- "%APPLCSF%\%APPLLOG%" and came to know that most of the concurrent manager was not running because of TNS issue.
*The TNS alias could not be located, the listener process on LK could not be contacted, or the listener failed to spawn the Service Manager process.
    Found dead process: spid=(999999), cpid=(1277461), Service Instance=(1052)*
But the problem is all the TNS services are running fine then why log is showing this issue?
    Please help

  • Issue Tracking Posting Level

The HCM team has approximately 650 issues logged for our 4.6C system (over a 3 year period).  Our potential usage of the Solution Mgr issue logging will be quite extensive.  We would like to have our issues logged at the Project level as well as the Solution level.  The system allows for this type of logging.  However, the available Issue report does not report in this fashion.
The HCM group would like to report and record issues at the Solution level based on the need to not always remember which project the issue is filed under. We then experimented with the Solution Reporting to test how issues would be picked using the selection screen provided.
Our results  show that if an issue is reported at the Solution level it does not get displayed if a project is selected thru Solution reporting selection variant. The report selection criteria seems to be an "either or" meaning by project or by Solution but not both which we would see using.
We were wondering what the intent is or best practice recommendation for filing issues is. Solution level or Project level

    Hi Benjamin,
The error can be caused by many reasons, so you need to check the ULS log for detailed error message.
For SharePoint 2010, by default, ULS log is at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS.
In the meanwhile, you can clear the configuration cache for SharePoint to see if the issue still occurs.
To clear the configuration cache, please follow the link below:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/jamesway/archive/2011/05/23/sharepoint-2010-clearing-the-configuration-cache.aspx
Please also check if the issue is caused by the KB2844286 Security Update on SharePoint 2010 as Cameron suggested.

  • Upgrading EBS11i to EBS 12.1.1

    Hi ,
I am upgrading Oracle EBS 11i to EBS 12.1.1 by following Upgrade Guide Part# E14010-01. I completed Chapter 2(Preparing for the Upgrade). I am yet to upgrade my Database to 10g R2.
In Chapter 3(upgrading to 12.1.1), I have compled 1)Disable AOL Audit Trail, 2)Shutdown Listeners and Conc Mgrs.
I have a doubt in 3) Migrate database to atleast 10gR2.

After that should I continue 4th step (Update init.ora with upgrade parameters) onwards on the R12 env?

  • 11i Split Configuration Certification Question

I have reviewed document 343917.1 and looked at the certifications, but I am a little confused on the split configuration certification options for 11i. We currently have 2 servers with our 11.5.10.2 environment. The db server has both the db and the admin and conc mgr. The app server has the web and forms. We are currently on a solaris sparc 32 bit for all tiers. We want to move to Linux. Assuming the app tier would be 32 bit RHEL, could we have the db tier on 64bit RHEL even though the conc mgr is on that tier? We are not planning on upgrading to 12 for at least a year and possibly longer."

  • Running Apps 11i on Linux with 200 concurrent users

    Hi,
Is there anybody out there running a large apps 11i installation (with the
database and middle tier) on Linux ?
We are currently running 11.5.9 Apps with a 9.2 database on Sun kit but I'd
like to investigate Linux/Intel as we are planning to replace our hardware.
We have about 200 concurrent users, with a total of 1800 registered users, using
    Financials, i-Procurement and HR.
    Thanks
    Tony Vallis

Having worked extensively on Linux, its true that is is limitied in 32 bit mode to addressing a few GB of memory for each application (It is at least better than windows with its 2/3GB limit), although you can play around with it and memory windows to get more out of it for the database tier.
We have used 1 * 6650 with 8GB RAM running AS 2.1 DB Tier
and 2 * 2650 with 8 GB RAM ruuning AS 2.1 Apps Tier with conc mgrs too.
This was with 11.5.10 and it comfortabley supported 200 users. The servers were 2.8GHz Dual core Xeons. Redhat 3 or 4 would have been better becuase of a file cache issue on the database tier.
Also rememeber to consider Oracle licensing, A faster CPU might cost alot more but when oracle licenses are based on core/cpus then you may save alot more by having the highest power cpus u can (MHz rating not ness cores). Sun T2000 servers are quite nifty too if you want to stay with traditional unix kit but not want the price tag.
When workign at internally in Oracle We quoted one client a 3 * 4 CPU 6650 with 8GB in RAC config with 12 * 2 CPU 2650 with 4GB to support 5000 concurrent users. I wasnt convinced this would work at the time but the client had massively over estimated the number of users they would actually have so all was fine.
If I was doing this now I would go for a single 64bit DB tier with 4 CPUs and lots of memory, I would have lots of small8gb mid tiers 2850's, with a hard ware load balancer in front and a dedicated GB backend network. I would ony go for RAC if I needed the resiliance or had a large number of users e.g. 1000+
All in my opinion and I am in no way suggesting this as a solution for any other customers. Always perform a hardware siazing exercise in conjunction with your hardware vendor (remembering they always want you to buy more hadrware than u need).
