Concentric Circles

How can I create concentric circles in Photoshop CC?
I'm sure there must be an easy way but I cannot work it out :-(
Regards
Bob

Each Circle may be made by using the Elliptical Marquee tool and setting the same H & W numbers in the Options bar
Edit > Stroke
Place each anywhere in the image area but each on a separate layer
Choose all those layers in the Layers panel
Use the Move tool, and in the Options bar click the vertical and then the horizontal alignment symbols.
Flatten the layers if desired.

    Is there currently any way to create a 'doughnut' chart with multiple concentric circles in an SSRS report (any version), without using 3rd party tools?
    Something like this, perhaps?
    (For that matter is it possible to create this using JavaScript?  It's my understanding that this image was originally created in a web app using JavaScript.  So far I've not been able to pin down the details.  I've found hints that JavaScript
    can be used in SSRS reports but so far no clear working examples.)

    Hi B.Chernick,
    According to your description, you want to create a create a doughnut chart with multiple concentric circles in your report. Right?
    In Reporting Services, we only have doughnut chart with one concentric circle. All the category group is in that concentric circle. Though we can embed javascript injection in expression, it only give the css style to values or report
    items which can change the looking. It can't change the structure of the report items itself. So your requirement can't be achieved current.

  • Text in a concentric circle

    Hi
    I am trying to create a wheel similar to the image below except I need three segments instead of twelve. I also need a few lines of text for each segment but I'm not sure how best to insert this. I have tried using the 'Polar Grid Tool' and using the 'Type on path' tool, however I'm not able to type within one segment / arc without the text going all the way around the circle.
    Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I may go about this? (Hope that's clear!)
    Thanks in advance

    The three groups ar easy once you think about it.
    Back to the polar grid tool.
    set it to the diameter you require.
    set the radial dividers to 3 and the concentric circles to "0"
    draw an ellipse the size you want the inner diameter to be
    align the two using the align panel (center vertical and then centered horizontally.
    select the inner circle and and the polar grid object and click on theLive paint Bucket tool to turn it into Live Paint Group
    you can fill any section with any swatch you want including a fill or stroke of none.
    Very easy to do this with the Live Paint group. (Notice I filled the center sections with a fill of none.)
    The text is  described before if you want to make the text curved and i would think you want to do this with only tree sections because of the amount of curve the sections require.
    You make to concentric circles that will reflect the amount of leading between the two text lines you need ad the size you require to properly place it in
    the sections.
    you position those two concentric circles over the sectioned circle that you made as a live paint group.
    Lock the live paint group
    with the scissor tool you cut the concentric circles at the sections radial dividers
    then turn them into text paths
    then pair the two in each section by making them text threads Type>Thread Text>Create
    Now type your text for each section. You can do this with two triangles if you want the text straight

  • Req: Draw Concentric Circles - help please!

    Hi all!
    Newbie question:
    I'm trying to draw a series of concentric circles in Flash 5
    The circle tool always starts to draw the circle from a
    corner - this makes it tricky to draw a set of concentric circles
    I'm sure there's a way of setting defaults so that Flash will
    draw circles (or other shapes like rectangles) about their centres
    instead of their corners, but I can't find the setting.
    Sorry for the dumb question!
    Thanks in anticipation
    Dave

    Thanks, but it's still not quite what I'm after.
    If you scale the circles serially as you suggest, the gap
    between circles is not equal; as the circles get smaller, the gap
    between them also gets narrower, rather like ripples on a pond. I
    wanted the circles to be concentric, but each one to be a fixed
    distance from the next, rather than a geometric progression.
    Also, I'd still like to be able to constrain the "draw
    rectangle" and "draw circle" commands to draw from the centre
    rather than the corner....
    Any more suggestions, or is upgrading to Flash 8 the only
    solution ? ;-)
    Thanks
    Dave

  • Help please with concentric circles

    I'm working in full Photoshop CS5, I'm trying to create a layer with transparent background and a series of concentric circles of regularly increasing diameter, transparent fill and lines of maybe 2pt thickness and 70% opacity.
    I can't work out how to do it.  Can anyone please give me a quick rundown of the steps, or point me to a resource that addresses this kind of task?
    Thanks for any help.

    It is not that complicated. Add new empty layer. Set guide lines. Oval selection to set to fixed aspect ratio 1:1 drag out selection. Stroke selection. repeat drag out selection stroke or transform selection stroke. Then set layer tp 70% opacity.  You can even create an action to do this if its something you would do often.  However it would be a bit tricky to record to work on any document.  Its very hard to record actions in a relative way.  If you try using percentage ruler units the document Aspect ratio would effect the selection.  Only document with the same aspect ratio would have circle selections. Use a relative unit like inches you would need to scale the document. and if you want to have a max size circle in there. The Document orientation needs to be known.  A little scripting would go a long way in helping there.  I created some scripts to be used in actions. Several are what I call run twice scripts. These are more or less like a save and restore functions for actions.  One in named orient the first time its run it will save the documents orientation and rotate portraits 90 degrees.  The second time its run it will rotate portraits the were rotated back to portrait.  A second saves and restores ruler units and the document resolution.  So and action is free to change ruler units a scale the document size by changing the DPI resolution without resampling it.  So all you need do is to record an action the will work on lanscale documents you can rotate portraits and scale document to a known size.
    Here are a couple of actions without any scripts added they should show the problems creating actions have dealing with aspect ratio and size. The landscape action scales the document however it can not scale it back without the script.

  • Concentric Circles---I need some help on this one...

    I'm trying to figure out how to change the color of my concentric rings. Here is my code:
    import java.applet.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    public class SvnRings extends Applet {
    public void paint(Graphics g) {
    int RectLeft, RectTop, RectHeight, RectWidth;
    int AppletHeight = this.getSize().height;
    int AppletWidth = this.getSize().width;
    for (int i=8; i >= 0; i--) {
    if ((i % 2) == 0) g.setColor(Color.red);
    else g.setColor(Color.white);
    RectHeight = AppletHeight*i/8;
    RectWidth = AppletWidth*i/8;
    RectLeft = AppletWidth/2 - i*AppletWidth/16;
    RectTop = AppletHeight/2 - i*AppletHeight/16;
    g.fillOval(RectLeft, RectTop, RectWidth, RectHeight);
    Can anyone tell me what I am forgeting?

    Well, what colours do you want them to be?
    You could generate them randomly, based on a sequence or from an array. I'll do the latter 'cos it's easiest.
    // 9 colours (for the 9 rings)
    private Color[] colors = new Color[] {Color.RED, Color.ORANGE, Color.YELLOW, Color.GREEN, Color.BLUE, Color.CYAN, Color.PURPLE, Color.PINK, Color.WHITE};
    for(int idx = 8; idx >= 0; idx--) {
      g.setColor(colors[idx]);
    }If you want a mathematical approach then you've got to create a new color in each iteration of the loop based on the loop value.
    Hope this helps.

  • Animate the outward spiraling appearance of dots comprising concentric circles

    I have the following illustration and I want to start with the dot in the middle and have the circle layers as though they are spiraling out from the dot in the very center (without using a wipe-like effect). Technically, each dot in each circle would appear in clockwise order and when a circle completes its appearance, the next outward circle of dots would beging to appear in similar fashion. Any ideas on ways to do this quicks (rather than manually animating the appearance of each circle)? If not, any other ideas on how to creatively animate the appearance of all these dots from the center dot (in a way that is not tedious)?

    If your illustrator artwork was created in the order you want the dots to appear then it's a simple matter to release the dots to layers, import the .ai file as a composition, and then sequence the layers in After Effects.
    Many of your dots appear to be different but some are the same. If you want to use a particle system then you'll need to create a movie with a different dot in each frame and all of the dots lined up. The emitter would fly around a path you created leaving a single dot on every frame.
    My approach would probably to create eliptical mask paths centered on each of the rings of dots, then apply stroke using all paths and stroke sequentially. The stroked layer would then be used as a track matte to reveal the dots. I think that would be the fastest solution to the problem.
    Here's a project file using your screenshot that took me less than 5 minutes. The position of the masks needs a little tweaking but it should get you started.

  • Java app to superimpose dragable, movable concentric circles over screen

    Hi:
    I'm starting to learn Java and was looking for an example app to help me write an app that would superimpose a dragable, movable [w/ right-mouse click] concentric-ring w/ crosshairs "target" over my screen [Windows Vista].
    Many thanks,

    Do you know other programming languages well? GUI programming is more complicate than you'd think, and if you are just learning to program, I suggest sticking to the basics and learning the fundamentals of OOP first.

  • Concentric circles, but not quite.

    Does anyone know how to easily reproduce an expanding pattern made of circles like this: http://i1.creativecow.net/u/181152/screenshot2011-09-01at6.35.16pm.png
    Many thanks.
    Richard.

    Richard,
    To avoid confusion, the term dots is used for the small filled circles here.
    The distance between dots seems to be about the same as their size. This corresponds to 6 dots times the number of the circle (6 dots in the first circle round the central dot etc).
    A  way that is more accurate than using the Polar grid is a Blend based on a single outer circle. The exact size and number of Blend steps depend on the desired number of circles/dots. For 61 circles round a central dot (with 366 dots in the outermost circle), you may:
    1) Create a circle with Width = Height = 233 times the size of the dot, give it a Stroke Weight = the dot size, set the Cap to Round, tick Dashed Line with Dash = 0 and Gap = twice the dot size;
    2) Ctrl/Cmd+C+F to create a copy and set W = H = 0;
    3) Object>Blend>Options set Specified Steps = 60 (I always prefer to set Orientation to Align to Path unless specifically not, silly sometimes);
    4) Select the two circles and Object>Blend>Make;
    5) Enjoy.
    If you have too many circles/dots, you may:
    6) Object>Blend>Expand and delete the unnecessary ones from the outside in.
    You may change the dot colour at any time.
    It may be mentioned that the size of the outer circle is adjusted for the inherent inaccuracy of the circle shape.

  • How to make curved arrows from circle?

    Hi, I want to make four curved arrows that lead into each other. Ideally, arrow head would just be a > shape at the end of the line that is the same width as the line (i.e., as if a straight line was cut at the end, so no tips or gaps.) I have drawn a circle with the ellipse tool, but I can't figure out how to cut it properly. An AI file that sort of shows what I mean is at  https://www.onlinefilefolder.com/2swDvNSyBkcsXd
    Thanks in advance for any help!

    Like Jacob described for:
    Point 3: That is how I managed to get my 8 segments. Basically, if you centered you cursor in the middle of the circle and set the rotation of the arrows (in my instance 40 degrees) - Command D and then it duplicates the arrows all around the circle accurately.
    You are welcome, Neil, and no need to apologize.
    You may have a look at the link by Jeanette in post #4; it shows end results.
    Here are the instructions in the first post with an extension of 3):
    1) Create the circle with the desired width in the form of Stroke Weight;
    2) Create a V shaped path with two segments on top of the circle where the first gap is to be, lengthwise extending outside the circle stroke, and with a Stroke Weight corresponding to the gap;
    3) Copy and place so you have all V shapes where you want the gaps; you may do that by rotating copies round the centre of the circle 1), this may be done in different ways, one being to create an auxliary concentric circle extending past the V shape and rotating copies of that and the V shape using the Object>Transform>Rotate and inserting the desired value(s), then deleting the auxiliary circles;
    4) Select all and Object>Path>Outline Stroke;
    5) Pathfinder>Minus front (Subtract from shape ares in older versions, maybe pressing Alt/Option to expand).

  • Duplicate concentric dots while keeping numbers upright

    I'm trying to illustrate several concentric circles shaped with dots containing numbers, as follows:
    Right now, I'm creating the circle patterns by rotating copies of the shape by even degree amounts. Each circle aside from the center one is a multiple of 6. Then I divide the number of dots in that circle by 360 degrees to determine the degree to which I must space the rotation of each dot in that circle from the previous one (always using the center of the dot in the very middle as an anchor point). The problem is that I want these circles to contain numbers, the orientation of which should not be rotated. Like above, the numbers should be 'upright.' So, simply copying a circle containing a number and rotating multiple copies of that circle is insufficient (i'll just end up with a bunch of rotated numbers).
    Any ideas on how to on a very large scale (maybe 100 concentric circles made of dots), create this illustration and ultimately have the numbers upright (without manually making each number upright through individual rotation)?

    With just a couple of minutes work I was able to make the following using a bit of text with an added fill converted to an ellipse (and tweaked slightly to center the text) and then use Object>Transform>Move to make the copies.

  • Spacing balls on a circle?

    Hi
    I need to draw a concentric circles with balls (like molecules), evenly
    spaced from each other. How would I do that easily and quickly?
    Thanx,
    Rogier

    In Rogier's revised post on the topic (which Ian closed off to replies), he added the following clarification:
    "I would like to be able to add more balls, depending on the circle-radius. With every new ball added, the spacing needs to adjust correspondingly."
    If all your balls are identical, here is one way:
    Draw one ball.
    Draw a straight vertical line, the intended radius of your circle.
    Snap the top end of the line to the center of the ball. (Easiest to do with Smart Guides turned on.)
    Make the straight line have no stroke, no fill. (It will be used for setting the transform origin.)
    Group the ball with the straight line.
    Making sure that the group is still the Appearance target, go to Effects>Transform&Distort>Transform to apply a live transform effect.
    If you want N balls around your circle, set the Copies to N-1, and the rotation angle to 360/N. On the little "tic-tac-toe" grid showing the transform origin, click on the bottom center square. (This is why you grouped the ball with the vertical line, so that you could set the rotation origin to the correct location. The Transform live effect only has these 9 origin choices, so you have to set up your objects so that the origin you want is at one of these 9 positions relative to the bounding box of the object the effect is applied to.)
    Turn on Preview to verify that it looks like you want, and if it does, click OK.
    Now, if you want to adjust the radius of the circle, direct-select the bottom anchor point of the radius line, and shift-drag it up or down.
    If you want to change the number of balls on your circle, double-click on the "Transform" row on the Appearance palette, so that it brings up the effect options dialog again, and change the number of Copies and the Angle.

  • Fill circles on xy graph

    Hello,
    I have a VI that draws circles on a XY graph. These circles represent the position of a microscope objective. The dwell time of the objective is increased, and I would like to fill the circles with color intensity that is related to this increase (I am using LV 8.0).

    draw circles loop.vi ‏28 KB

    Your VI using something called Stuff:\LabView games\Control Program\Linspace.vi
    When I load it into LV 8.6.1, it finds a different vi called "Linspace" deep in the VI lib, which does something completely different.
    I suggest you rename your VI to not conflict with the system, and possibly include it here.
    That having been said, an X-Y graph is perhaps not the best place for a filled-circle type of drawing.
    I'm not sure when the feature was introduced, but there is now a PLOT IMAGES property for graphs, where you can insert a picture in front of, or behind the plot data.
    Consider using a PICTURE control to plot the data and the circles.
    If you must use only an X-Y graph, then you have to create a separate plot for the FILL part, consisting of concentric circles around the center point, and colored the way you want.
