Concept of LoginModule- Help

Am I correct in understanding that the LoginModule supplies a login page already provided by Oracle? If one wants their login page to have a preferred look, you have to provide your own jspx page but then you will not be able to use the Oracle supplied authentication mechanism behind the LoginModule? Or, am I wrong? (probably I am)
We would like to use database tables to store stuff so, looks like, we have to use custom LoginModules.
Do I need to download a version of Admintool that is easier to use (instead of the online AdminTool) for all this. At this point, I use Oracle Express Database to test all this. Once done, I will have to use the actual database. Can I test this LoginModule in my environment and then be assured that I can use the app in an actual environment.
I think it is time for a security class from Oracle in addition to the ADFBC class they provide.
Thanks

Hi,
there is no Oracle provided page. With custom LoginModules you use either Basic or Form based authentication. For the latter you create a JSP or JSF page containing a form element with the j_security_check actio. The username field needs to be named j_username, the password field j_password.
The username and password will be passed to the JAAS LginModule by the OC4J container and can be accessed within the callback handling.

    In my PSE11 help menu in the organizer, there is an option for 'key concepts'.
    Here is the link:

    For the editor, absolutely. It's the same link in both Editor and Organizer.
    Don't you think that the key concepts of the Organizer are missed by a lot of new users ?
    They could be summarized in a single page before going into details with the full help files. There are so many misconceptions about the organizer !

  • Java concepts! Need help please!

    hi,
    im new to java, just started learning, im stuck on this last question in my assignment:
    Could anyone please help with answer:
    "Describe the followion OO programming concepts, explaining how they can be used to improve the writing and maintenance of software programs:
    Classes

    its worth 25 marks of the assignment.
    all help is appreciated
    Thanks

    Well, I suggest doing a search via google (the Internet has quite a bit of computer-related information available on it), or consulting more books. Go to your local public library or university library if you have one. You'll not learn much by copying down answers posted here.

  • Webservice concepts . Pls help

    Hi All,
    In PI 7.0 in Integration Configuration:
    we create the WSDL for Sender/Outbound Interface using --- Select Tools --- Define Web Service -- fill all information and
    send that wsdl to consumer and use soap sender adapter
    similarly In PI 7.0 in Integration Design :
    we import the wsdl from the provider in External Defination and use soap receriver adapter
    Do we have same concept in PI 7.1? Pls explain
    -- if we use Integration Directory and click on Publish in SR  -- Pls explain this section ?
    -- if we use Service Registry and click on display WSDL -- Pls explain this section ?
    Pls explain the above sections with documents
    Regards

    Hi Rickk  ,
    a. If I take PI 7.0 and I have RFC to Webservice Scenario
    --- I have one function modules in one R/3 system and second function module in other R/3 system
    --- For the second function module in R/3 (*service provider*) I will make webservice of that using utilities -- more utilities-- create
    webservice. Import wsdl of that webservice in PI as External defination (Inbound Interface).
    --- In PI Select the source interface as RFC for 1st function module and receiver as as External defination (Inbound Interface)
    for 2nd function module.
    -- Configure the Soap_Receiver_CC for target WSDL.
    -- Test it by sending request from the source R/3 system. It works fine.
    My question is we are not doing any configuration of service provider(r/3) and also not publishing webservice and it is working fine in PI 7.0 .
    > you can achieve same thing in PI 7.1 also . Using UDDI for service registry is up to you . Basically in your scenario you have used XI to make service interface to work as a web service . Which is prefectly O.K .
    Pls explain why we are required to do configuration and publishing in PI 7.1 as explained in below blog page 12 and page 14
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/50b63e8f-a4bb-2a10-e9b1-ba803fd06739&overridelayout=true
    because they want to service enable the message interface so is the topic of article . PI 7.1 is about moving towards servic es .
    b. If I take PI 7.0. Sender is 3rd Party and receiver is JDBC. We make wsdl of Outbound Interface and sent to 3rd party.
    --- 3rd party will send request using xml spy . The request will come to PI using Soap_Sender_CC where we specify Outbound
    Interface name and will get response back from JDBC to them.
    I understand the concept like as we cannot send wsdl to 3rd party we publish it using Integration directory and then 3rd party can access that wsdl. Is my understanding correct?
    Yes, Absolutely . We want to avoid sending wsdl to 3rd party .

  • Wireless design guide/help

    Hi guys........just have  few qestions about designing WLC 5508
    The  scenario is  that currently one of the client has a firewall Tiering T1 internet facing and T2 internal whioch has multiple DMZ connected.
    T2 firewall has a DMZ switch connected which has a router which connects to MPLS cloud to different site across the country. (around 10 sites) all static routing.
    Now the client is thinking to deploy wireless at all 10 sites using H-REAP. The issue is that client has only one WLC and they are not willing to buy other as i was thinking to deploy two WLC one for corporate and one for guest users. (one in internal network and on in DMZ)
    Now my question is as follwow.
    1- Keeping in mind that there is only one WLC where should i physically put it?
    2- How guest users will work ? How the authentication will be done?
    3-There are 8 SFP ports in WLC how physical topology will look like?
    4-How many Vlans i have to make for wirless users  will that be 10? (1 at each site) ?
    my last question is that how these ports work on WLC are they just like swicth e.g  one port can be assigned to different vlan....just confuse about interfaces and vlans on WLC (interfces concept)
    Thanks guy and hope to get a response ASAP.

    1- Keeping in mind that there is only one WLC where should i physically put it?
    Well since you will also be supporting Corporate and I'm guessing that is where the WLC sites, it should be in the inside network.  You would just need to allow udp 5246 & 5247
    2- How guest users will work ? How the authentication will be done?
    Guest users can use webauth in which the credentials will be stored on the WLC.
    3-There are 8 SFP ports in WLC how physical topology will look like?
    This is the tricky part.  You can either lag or not lag.  You can't split up the lag (etherchannel).  So you can either use all 8 if you with and create an etherchannel and then acl the guest traffic out the internet or you can put the guest on a layer 2 vlan in which you would connect that out to the dmz.  Or you can use one port for the management and also have a backup port, one for your internal wireless and also have a backup port and the same for guest.  SO it would look like this:
    Management primary port 1 backup port 2
    SSID primary port 3 backup port 4
    Guest primary port 5 guest port 6
    OR
    Management & SSID's primary port 1 backup port 2
    Guest primary port 3 guest port 4
    4-How many Vlans i have to make for wireless users will that be 10? (1 at each site) ?
    If you use local switching which I would think you would, the vlans for the SSID at the remote site will be created locally at each remote site.  If you want to centrally switch, means all traffic will come back to the WLC, then you will need at least one.  Now you can use a large subnet or have a subnet for each site, its up to you.  You would use AP Groups for that.
    my last question is that how these ports work on WLC are they just like switch e.g one port can be assigned to different vlan....just confuse about interfaces and vlans on WLC (interface concept)

  • Need clarification on the concept of "reset logs"

    Hi,
    When the database is in Archive log mode and once crashed will be recovered using the below command :
    SQL> startup nomount
    SQL> Alter database recover automatic using backup controlfile until cancel;
    Once the database is recovered, we give the below command:
    SQL> recover cancel;
    After the above steps, we have to perform below command which I am not able to understand.
    SQL> alter database open reset logs;
    I am not able to appreciate the purpose of resetting the logs...why not we allow the database to proceed with the log file sequence.
    Any information on the "reset logs" concept would be helpful to me.

  • Field values are repeating for search help.

    Hello Friends.
    I have a problem. When I create a search help for a field the identical field values are repeating. What should I do to trigger only the first time.
    for example:
    <u>Field-name</u>-                        <u>field-value</u>
    Supplier Nr ---                                 Commodity
    5001 -
                                               casting
    5002 -
                                               casting
    5003 -
                                               casting
    So when I create the search help for commodity it is showing 'casting' 3 times in a pop-up window. It should not repeat. Can you please give me the solution what should I do?

    Standard Search Help
    The input help (F4 help) is a standard function of the R/3 System. It permits the user to display a list of possible values for a screen field. A value can be directly copied to an input field by list selection.
    The fields having an input help are shown in the R/3 System by the input help key to the right of the field. This key appears as soon as the cursor is positioned on the corresponding screen field. The help can be started either by clicking on this screen element or with function key F4.
    If the number of possible entries for a field is very large, you can limit the set of displayed values by entering further restrictions.
    Further meaningful information about the displayed values is included in the display of possible entries, especially if the field requires that a formal key be entered.
    TYPES OF SEARCH HELPS
    Elementary search helps
    Describe a search path. The elementary search help must define where the data of the hit list should be read from (selection method), how the exchange of values between the screen template and selection method is implemented (interface of the search help) and how the online input help should be defined (online behavior of the search help).
    Collective search help
    Combine several elementary search helps. A collective search help thus can offer several alternative search paths.
    Search Help Interface
    Search help interface determines how the exchange of values between the screen template and the selection method is implemented.
    The search help interface defines the context data that can be used in the input help and the data that can be returned to the input mask. Analogously to the interface of a function module, the search help interface comprises interface parameters.
    When you define an interface parameter of a search help, you must also define whether it should be used to copy data to the input help (IMPORT parameter) or whether it should be used to return data from the input help (EXPORT parameter). A parameter of a search help can also have both attributes at the same time.
    The location from which the IMPORT parameters of a search help get their values and the screen fields in which the contents of the EXPORT parameters of the search help are returned are defined in the search help attachment. The search help itself should always be attached to an EXPORT parameter of the search help. If this parameter is also the IMPORT parameter, its contents are only used in the input help if it is a search string (that is, if it contains a ´*´ or a ´+´).
    You must define the parameter types of a search help. You can do this by assigning them data elements.
    Value Transport for Input Helps
    NOTE:In the above example, screen fields A, B and C are linked with parameters of the search help. As a result, values can only be transported between the screen and the search help for these three fields. Existing contents of screen fields A and B can be used for selecting the hit list since they are linked with an import parameter of the search help. The values of parameters A and C can be returned to the screen from the hit list since these parameters are declared as export parameters of the search help.
    Description of dialog behavior
    A hit list might contain plentiful number of entries. A
    dialog provides the user with an option to restrict the
    entries displayed on the hit list.
    In an input help process, the set of possible entries is presented in the dialog box as a list for displaying the hit list. The user selects the required value from this list by double clicking. Since the possible entries are often formal keys, you must be able to display further explanatory information about the possible entries in the list.
    If the set of possible entries is very large, the user should be able to define additional conditions for the attributes of the selected entry. Restricting the set of data in this way both increases the clarity of the list and reduces the system load. Additional conditions can be entered in a further dialog window, the dialog box for restricting values.
    Specifying the dialog type of a search help defines whether the dialog box for restricting values should be offered and if so under what conditions.
    The attributes in the dialog box for displaying the hit list or in the dialog box for restricting values must be defined as internal parameters of the search help. An internal parameter can also be used in only one of the two dialog boxes. It can also belong to the search help interface.
    The internal parameter types are also defined with data elements. These data elements define how the parameters are displayed in the two dialog boxes.

  • HTPC Coaxial Help / Quest

    Hi everyone,
    I just joined this forum and am fairly new to the HTPC world. I am confused about how coaxial works when connecting to a receiver, and more importantly, what X-Fi product (or other product) I should purchase for my needs.
    I want to be able to connect my HTPC (which has both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray playback) to an Onkyo HT-SR800 home theater system (http://www.us.onkyo.com/model.cfm?m=HT-SR800&class=Systems&p=i). The system is 7. surround, and I want a sound card that can support / handle that.
    I am somewhat familiar with pass-through vs. on-board decoding after reading the stickies, but am unclear as to what I need to specifically connect to the Onkyo system to get the best sound / full 7. capability.
    . Is it best to let the receiver do the decoding since it does it on board? If so, do I need much of a sound card on my computer?
    2. This is essentially an extension to the first question: Does the quality of the sound card make much difference if I'm just connecting to a receiver via optical? In other words, if the receiver would do decoding, does the quality of the sound card come into play much?
    3. I saw some features don't work when connecting via digital. Would the Crystallizer still work?
    I apologize if these topics are covered in other messages, but I searched and was unable to find a clear answer (largely due to my lack of understanding of most of these concepts). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The elementary search help must define where the data of the hit list should be read from (selection method), how the exchange of values between the screen template and selection method is implemented (interface of the search help) and how the online input help should be defined (online behavior of the search help).
    Collective search help Combine several elementary search helps. A collective search help thus can offer several alternative search paths.
    Context data: You first have to define the context data to be used in the input help process. The context contains the information obtained in previous dialog steps and the entries already made by the user in the current input mask. This information is normally used to restrict the possible values for the current input field.
    Dialog behavior: It describes the order of the dialog windows to be displayed during the input help and what they should look like.
    Data collection method: It defines where the values offered to the user for selection come from.
    Return values: When a value is selected from the list of possible entries, it is stored in the search field. This often results in the contents of further screen fields, such as explanatory text, being updated. You therefore should define which values can be returned to the screen.
    In addition to describing an input help, you must define the fields for which it should be used. This is part of the field definition (of the search fields).
    In Release 4.0, the search help was introduced in the ABAP Dictionary as a new object type. A search help is an object that describes the input help process. The individual components of such a description can be defined with attributes of the search help.
    Search helps are subject to the same rules concerning their maintenance, activation and transport as all other objects of the ABAP Dictionary.
    Search helps provide greater flexibility and functionality for defining input helps than the matchcode and help view object types offered up to Release 3.x.

    Dialog Types
    The dialog type of an elementary search help defines how the hit list is displayed when the input help is called. It defines the dialog steps executed for input help.
    The following dialog types are possible:
    Immediate value display: The hit list is immediately displayed when the input help is called. This is only meaningful if the hit list usually only contains a few entries.
    Complex dialog with value restriction: The dialog window for restricting values is offered immediately. Choose this option if the list of possible entries is usually very large. If the user limits the amount of data to be processed, the hit list will become more comprehensible and the system load during value selection will be reduced.
    Dialog depending on number of values: If the hit list contains less than 100 entries, it is displayed immediately. If the hit list contains more than 100 entries, the dialog box for restricting values is displayed.
    The following dialog types are possible:
    Immediate value display: The hit list is immediately displayed when the input help is called. This is only meaningful if the hit list usually only contains a few entries.

    Selection method for Search help
    Selection method refers to the database object (database
    table or view) from which data is selected and displayed
    in the hit list.
    The possible entries displayed for a field by the input help are determined at runtime by a selection from the database. When a search help is defined, you must define the database object from which the data should be selected by specifying a table or a view as selection method.
    The fields of the selection method are assigned to the parameters of the search help if their names are the same. Restricting the hit list, which is formulated with a parameter of the search help, is also used to formulate a WHERE condition for the field of the selection method having the same name (if one exists). Vice versa, the parameters of the search help appearing in the hit list are assigned the contents of the fields of the selection method having the same name.
    If the selection method is a table having a text table, the non-key fields of this text table can also be used in the search help. In this case the corresponding entries of the logon language are automatically taken into consideration in the selection. These columns remain empty for values that do not have text in the logon language.
    If the selection method is client-dependent, your client field may not appear as a parameter of the search help. The search help is always selected in the current client.
    Performance of an Input help
    We must ensure that the hit list is displayed in minimum
    time with minimum load on the system.
    It is imperative to optimize accessing behavior especially when selection uses a view and thus more than one table.
    This can be done by restricting the hit list
    By additional restricting conditions from the context.
    Restricting conditions entered by the user in a dialog.
    Performance of the input help could be greatly improved by creating an index on the fields used to formulate the restrictions.
    A large amount of data sometimes has to be searched in the selections for an input help. This means that the user might have to wait a long time for the possible entries to be displayed, and can also result in a significant increase in the load on the system.
    When defining a search help, you should therefore check whether you should take measures to optimize the accessing behavior for the selection method. This is especially true if the selection uses a view and thus more than one physical table.
    If the number of entries in the selection method is very large, you should restrict the hit list with further conditions. This also increases the clarity of the hit list. The additional conditions can directly result from the context, or can be entered in the dialog box for restricting values by the user. The performance of the input help can frequently be significantly improved by creating an index on the fields used to formulate the restrictions.
    If a restriction is defined with the secondary table of a help view, the selection is automatically performed as an inner join. In this case you should replace the help view with a database view.
    Attaching a search help to a field
    A search help can influence the behavior of a field when the input help is called. The search help must be assigned to the field in order to do this. You have the following options for this assignment:
    Attach search help to a data element / table or structure field / screen field / check table.
    Conventionally search helps are attached to table fields or data elements. We shall see the same.
    Choose the field name, click on search help tab and
    provide the name of the search help.
    A search help is attached to a field of a table or structure in the maintenance transaction for this table/structure, analogously to attaching to a table. You must assign the interface parameters of the search help to any fields of the table/structure. The search field must be assigned to an EXPORT parameter of the search help at this time.
    Attach the search help to the table field
    The search help ZSTRAVELAG_NAME is therefore directly attached to the field AGENCYNUM of table ZSTRAVELAG.
    Provide the search help name and the parameter name
    under the further characteristics tab of the data element.
    If the input help of a field is defined by its data element, no further screen fields can be used in the input help.
    Also note that the input F4 help would be available wherever the data element is used.
    A search help can be directly assigned to a screen field in two ways.
    The name of the search help must be entered in the Screen Painter in the Attributes for the field in the field Search help.
    The name of the search help can be defined for selection screens in ABAP reports in the PARAMETERS or SELECT-OPTIONS statement directly following the supplement MATCHCODE OBJECT.
    However, input help is only available for this particular screen.
    Collective search help
    A Collective search help provides alternative search
    Paths by combining elementary search helps.
    Only one search help can be attached to a field, table or data element. Several search paths are therefore attached with a collective search help.
    A collective search help also has interface parameters like
    an elementary search help.
    Like an elementary search help, a collective search help has an interface of IMPORT and EXPORT parameters with which the search help exchanges data. Using this interface, the collective search help can be attached to fields, tables and data elements exactly like an elementary search help.
    Parameter assignment needs to be done for each of the
    Included search helps.
    When you define a collective search help, there are no components for describing the dialog behavior and data selection; instead the included search helps are listed here. You must assign the parameters of the collective search help to the interface parameters of the included search help for each inclusion.
    User may choose the tab and thus the elementary
    search method.
    When we execute the search help SCUSTOM, we are confronted with a dialog which gives us an option of either restricting
    By 1)Search for customer according to booking
        2)Search for customer according to name.
    These are effectively the elementary search helps (SCUSTOM_BOOK and SCUSTOM_NAME) which have been included in the collective search help SCUSTOM.
    HOT KEY
    The hot key is used to select the elementary search help from the collective search help and to enter the restrictions in the dialog box for restricting values directly from the entry field. If the user often searches for values using the same search help, this procedure can save time.

  • Production issue -help needed

    Hi,
    I am giving a user-defined java code below, which we need to change. I understod that the fucntion is used to store values in memory. But my doubts are something else.
    GlobalContainer gc = container.getGlobalContainer();
    AbstractTrace trace = container.getTrace();
    int j = 0;
    for (int i = 0; i < ConnectEAN.length; i++) {
      if (ConnectEAN<i>.equals("__cC_")){
        j++;
        if (PremiseID[j].equals("__cC_")){
          j++;
      } else {
        trace.addInfo("EAN = " + ConnectEAN<i> + " Prem = " + PremiseID[j]);
        gc.setParameter( ConnectEAN<i>, PremiseID[j] );
    result.addValue("");
    I need to know what '  equals("__cC_")   ' means.??? whats the underscore doing there??
    Also what does the below line doing?
        trace.addInfo("EAN = " + ConnectEAN<i> + " Prem = " + PremiseID[j]);
    Why do we need to add info to the trace? whats is its concept?
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    John

    hi John,
    trace.addInfo("EAN = " + ConnectEAN + " Prem = " + PremiseID[j]);
    This object enables you to transfer messages to the mapping trace. If the trace level is set correspondingly. then the trace is visible in message monitoring (transaction SXMB_MONI). The execution of the mapping is not interrupted when the entries are written to the trace.
    so go to SXMB_MONI expend the tree and go to trace you can fond the corrosponding trace out there.
    Trace object have the following Methods
    1)void addInfo(String message);     Adds a message message to the mapping trace with the trace level info.
    2)void addWarning
    (String message);     Adds a message message to the mapping trace with the trace level warning.
    3)void addDebugMessage (String message);     Adds a message message to the mapping trace with the trace level debug.
    regards,

  • Is this recruitment concept in sap hr

    HI Experts,
                     Will recruitment concept will be helpful in real time in sap hr.We have to learn the recruitment also actually i heard like when compared to recruitment Personnel Administration is having more demand even in interview point of view also..
    Thanks
    RAji

    Hi Kanika;
    I can explain PB60 this way.
    Normally in PA module with transaction PA40 we enter the information of a new employee etc. which is also known as hiring an employee. And in PA30 we keep informations about employees.
    With the help of PB40 we enter informations about applicants. With the help of PB30 we keep informations about applicants which you can think as CV's.
    Something different from PA is PB60.
    In recruitment we keep two things in consideration of the applicant. First one is the informations based on CV which is kept via PB30. Second what we keep is the hiring processes that the applicant has followed.
    For example you may say that after creation of the applicant in the system, you want to have phone interview. After phone interview applicant can have a meeting with Hr. If Hr approves the applicant applicant will have another meeting with the head of the department. After that if he is still successfull then the proposal will be made. If he accepts he will be hired as an employee.
    Here with the help of PB60 you keep track of in which step is the applicant. For example you can see when he had phone interview and how was the interview. You can enter notes about the interview, you can send mail about phone interview result or even you can inform him about the date of first meeting with hr via mail. If he is not successfull in phone interview you can send him rejection mail.
    You first plan the process then you can enter informaiton of realization date. With the help of feature PACPA you can define the further processes after initial process.
    You can check PACPA and PACTV features.

  • When i attach a portable pdf to an email, it opens and displays contents.  I want the file to remain closed - help.  thanks

    When I attempt to attach a portable pdf to an email, it automatically opens and displays in the email.  I want the file to be attached not opened.  I am new to MAC and do not understand this portable pdf concept.  Lease help.  all I want is a file to show on the email message which can be opened by the person receiving the email.

    Mail shows any single-page PDF (as well as many other document types) as a preview in an email message rather than the icon, but it is actually being attached as a normal email attachment. Unless the recipient also has Mac OS X Mail, they'll just see the PDF as an attachment unless their mail application also shows PDFs in line.
    There is a third-party product which can suppress this display so that all attachments including single-page documents just show in Mail as an icon. If that's of interest, let me know and I'll post the URL to the product. But it doesn't affect how the document is attached and the email sent, only how it displays on your system.
    Regards.
