Concerns about Creative Cloud

I'm concerned about installing After Effects render nodes on a render farm once Creative Cloud becomes ubiquitous.

Check the AE forum. Todd Kopriva answered that question in one of the threads.

  • Long-term concerns about Creative Cloud and my current license

Say I subscribe to Creative Cloud, and it doesn't do so well. In three years, it's removed from Adobe's product offerings. The last CS I'd own is 5.5, but 9 is out, and Adobe cuts off the upgrade discount at 6. After investing $600 per year into Creative Cloud—much more in only a single year than the $400 I'm considering spending to upgrade to Design+Web Premium 6—how would Adobe treat my upgrade options? Would a concession be made to allow me to upgrade from a CS 8.5 license being that I've been an active user the whole time? Or would I have to purchase an entirely new license from scratch?
This is a very large concern for me, considering that Adobe was going to cancel the three-versions-back upgrade and implement a one-version-back upgrade policy for CS6.

I don't have an answer for you I'm afraid.
I'm not sure anyone including Adobe knows yet what will happen if the Cloud fails and they're forced to revert to perpetual licenses and retrospectively discount upgrades from CS5.5 to whatever version is current.
No doubt they're closely monitoring their Cloud adoption stats daily.
However - pure speculation follows - I suspect that the more likely scenario is the reverse: the Cloud becomes Adobe's sole method for selling software and they dispense with perpetual licenses (both boxed and downloads) altogether.
They're already on record as saying the Cloud is their preferred sales medium. They've just got to find the sweet spot between revenue/profit and value (what they include in the Cloud bundle). It's compelling enough now from where I sit but it's not for everyone yet.
However, as a CS5 perpetual user and CS6 Cloud user, I'm treating my 2012 Cloud membership as a Trial - so I can still upgrade to CS6 perpetual before CS7 ships if I feel the need to.
The possibility of Adobe going Cloud only is briefly discussed at cs5.org
    http://cs5.org/?p=2172
Possible perspective that Adobe will entirely move to the Cloud, leaving customers without any choice. Change of upgrade policy may be the first step to this.
I won’t be surprised to see CS7 be cloud only except for rare education/government/enterprise customers and then it’s game over. Larger agencies will move to that model because it’s more economical, smaller shops and freelancers will be forced to upgrade as incompatible file formats between CS7 and earlier versions migrate from .FLA to .PSD and .AI files.
    Watch this space.

This is a MacBook Pro 15" (Model number A1286) running Mavericks. Hard drive is fine but system software has been corrupted. I cannot simply restore from Time Machine as it will copy the corrupt system.
Will I have to find all of my serial numbers before I can launch any of the programs?
    Thanks

For the Cloud, you log in to your paid Cloud account and download & install the same way you did the first time

If you have the perpetual license version of CS6 you install from your original media and use your serial number

hi,   I am trying to find out a bit more about creative cloud...  I currently use PS5 extended...  I have it on my desk top at home but travel often and use a pc. which does not have PS5 because it is licensed to mac...  So i am now thinking of using the cloud...  will i be able to use it on both computers? and will it work if there is slow or no internet?.

  • Management needs to address this question about Creative Cloud subscriptions

Hopefully there is a satisfactory solution for this question.  Then and only then will I feel comfortable giving Creative Cloud a try.  I own Production Premium CS5.5 and Design Premium CS6. In addition I have stand alones of Photoshop CS5.1, Premiere Pro CS6, Acrobat Pro 9, Lightroom 4 (2 copies) and probably another package I'm not thinking about right now.  If I convert to Creative Cloud and two years from now when CS7 or possible CS8 is the current version and I decide end my subscription to Creative Cloud reverting back to the disk version ownership, I will be required to pay additional money because I didn't keep my disk ownership current.  I used to upgrade my Production Premium Suite every other version.  I owned CS4 in that suite and when CS5.5 was released, I was required to pay an additional $250 (if memory is correct) because I hadn't upgraded to Version CS5.  I think that subscribing to Creative Cloud should not open me up to my license being devalued because I chose the subscription (at essentially the same price for what I use) over buying the disk.  Adobe, will you comment on this situation and add it to management discussions to assure faithful customers we won't have our current licenses put into jeopardy?

I like the idea of Creative Cloud but subscribing to it for a mandatory 1-year is binding.
Thare are two joining options: monthly (higher monthly fee) or 12 month contract, billed monthly(lower monthly fee)
    akrafter wrote:
And after the one year, do you go on a month-to-month or do you have to sign on for another year?  I'm sure that's in the fine print someplace but I haven't noticed it.
    Auto-renewed unless you cancel.
    http://www.adobe.com/au/products/creativecloud/faq.html
At the end of my annual membership, what do I need to do to renew it?
If you would like to renew your annual membership for another year, you do not need to do anything. Your account is set to auto-renew so that you will not experience any interruption in access to your Creative Cloud products and services.
How do I cancel my one-year membership?
To cancel a one-year membership, you can either go online to the Account page on www.creativecloud.com or contact Adobe Customer Service. If you cancel your membership before meeting the 12-month commitment date, you will be charged 50% of the remaining amount left on your contract.
    akrafter wrote:
I hope a lot more people ask the question and do as I'm doing, not buy into Creative Cloud until a satisfactory solution is arrived at.  I like the looks of the CC package and I think it has value but not at the loss of value for my Creative Suite.
Not sure you'll get a definitive answer to that before CS7 arrives.
And you'll need a CS6 perpetual license in order to upgrade to CS7.
So I suspect a CS6 purchasing/upgrading decision (Cloud or traditional upgrade) will have to be made based on the info currently available.

  • Question about Creative Cloud Support

I believe I still have about 20 days left of the original support that came with my subscription to Creative Cloud. How do I use that support? I don't think I've talked to support other than in the product help questions yet. I also need to find out what type of support I should buy after that runs out. I'm a designer who has started building websites with Muse. I am also trying to understand Business Catalyst hosting. "Thank you", in advance!

certifies the Domain, or is that for GoDaddy to do?
Not clear on what you mean by certify the domain? If you mean purchase and register a domain, then yes, you can do it with GoDaddy
        - can direct me to the web Business Registration site. Is there a cost for web B.Registration?
Again, not sure what web business registration you are referring to?
    - can generate or provide a SSL certified domain certificate for use on my client's web-site?
Yes, all BC sites use a shared certificate under the worldsecuresystems.com domain.
    - provides SEO, and what exactly does that include?
Business Catalyst has all of the SEO features such as Meta tags, SEO friendly URLS, etc.
        - has custom targeted lists available for different industries & businesses in your e-mail marketing program?
Absolutely. BC has a great email marketing setup. It does what you mention and more ....
    - has a way to e-mail the support department directly? Or communicate in a way other than chat? I am new to web-stuff. I've been a Marketing/Advertising/Print designer/production guy for 30 years.
(I remember squeeky marker & chalk layouts, and keylining!)
There is an additional support forum for paid partners as well as faster track to Live Chat and second level support.
    - can tell me how to become a partner. I don't want to pay a thousand dollars. But I have at present, 4 sites I will be doing. I would guess I'd be an "individual" or "developer".
You can become a Free partner. It doesn't have all the extra support features and many of the perks though. Any paid partner such as myself can send you a promo code for a small 5% discount on a paid partnership as well.
If you have already created a BC site, you are already a Free Partner. Go to anyone of your BC sites you created and add /partnerportal to the address. Example; mysite.businesscatalyst.com/partnerportal
Login with your ID that you used when creating the sites. You can access all of your sites from that one location.
    Hope that helps!

  • Questions about Creative Cloud

    Hi
I bought Lightroom 5 from a retail store maybe a year or so ago and I have had that set up on my computer and it serves me great and I love it. However it has come to my attention that I need photoshop as well.
I'm a bit confused by the set up of creative cloud. I am able to use my desktop app for Lightroom without needing to pay annually or monthly, but if I pay for creative cloud monthly or annually, once that term is up will it stop me from accessing the desktop app?
Is there a way I can pay for Photoshop outright, with out needing to subscribe to monthly or yearly terms
    Thanks

The current Photoshop is by subscription, so when you stop paying the program stops working
If a 3+ year old version works for you, go to Creative Suite 6 for a one time payment

  • Question About Creative Cloud in a Family Setting

My wife and I both use Adobe products. I'm more of a casual user of programs like Illustrator and Flash, whereas whe's an artist and uses mostly Photoshop like a fiend. Honestly, she's got PS open 8 hours a day, actively.
If I subscribe to Cloud, can we use the same account? Can I use, say, Illustrator while she's using Photoshop?
Or am I going to have to buy 2 subscriptions?
    Thank you!

    Per http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/faq.html:
On how many computers may I install the software I download from Creative Cloud?
You can install the desktop applications available in Creative Cloud on your primary computer and one backup computer, as long as they are not running at the same time. You will have access to both the Mac OS and Windows versions, so if you have a Mac at home and a PC at work, for instance, you can install your applications on both. See the product license agreements page for more information.

Can i use adobe Creative Cloud for students for commercial expressions? I am a student, but i'm also a freelancer in my spare time.

  • Am very concerned about creative produ

While the creative Zen Vision is a great device, i feel there are other things creative could produce.. for exampe where is Creatives equivilent of Slimdevices (squeezebox) Creative is a Audio Hardware company you would thing that some sort of streaming device that connects to your HiFi exist in there product range.
and also why is the open source Codec like Flac missing from there devices.
    Am I missing something here?

I would take the Mac to an Apple Store. Unibody Macs batteries are designed to have 80% of their capacity after 1000 cycles, and you have about 80% of the capacity after 176 cycles, so it's clear that your battery is damaged. However, as your Mac is out of warranty, you will have to pay for the battery replacement ($129 for 11, 13 and 15-inch MacBooks)

  • About Creative cloud and Photoshop CC

I use google translator because my English is poor. I bought the product for a monthly fee of about 24e and now I have here only a trial version. It is in Finnish. I would like the English version, because I'm used to Elements in the English version and the tutoriallinen viewing is the English version easier. What is the procedure. Can I have one serial number / license number / license key for your trial can continue. The program will ask for it. Thank you for your response. It is utterly strange, that I have no possible to get support for my own language Finnish. Your Marjukka Little Ettala, [email protected]

There is no serial number for subscriptions - just sign in with your adobe ID.
