Concerns, in regards to iOS 5's new Notification system

I know that Apples primary intent with the revamped Notification system was to avoid the obstrusiveness of the current system. But I have heard and seen that the newer system (beta builds, anyway are actually more obstructive as they cover half of the menu buttons (done, back, cancel, upload, etc) and have no way to dismiss them.
I write this in the hope that someone will read this, realise it and fix it (possibly by shifting down the menu bar when notifications are displayed?) before the final build is realeased for users.

Documentation for Notifications system in iOS 5?

Is there any detailed documentation for the new Notifications system in iOS 5 that explains how it works, and in particular how the various pieces (alerts, banners, the Notification Center, the lock screen) interact with each other? I downloaded the latest User Guide for iOS 5.0 and it doesn't provide much detail at all.

This may help:
There are a number of issues to fix this:
1. You cannot view the "Notification Centre" from the lock screen.
2. You can have all your NEW notifications appear in your lock screen by changing the settings in Settings>Notifications>(and then select that app).
3. You also have to ensure you are allowing notifications within the App itself, inside the App's settings.
Here are a few hints:
If you have the "Alert Style" set to "None" - they won't show up, even if you turn them "On".
If you set to "Banners" they will show up as Banners while your phone is unlocked, and also as a Banner on the Lock screen (if the lock screen setting is set to "on"). From the lock screen you can "swipe" the notification, and it will take you right to that app.
If you set as "Alerts" - it will require you to select an action before proceeding - in which case you must "unlock the phone", and the rest of any notifications on your lock screen will not longer be considered new - and won't show up again when you lock your phone.
My recommendation: Set them all as Banners, and then you have more options. Once you "Unlock" your phone, all of them will be removed from your lock screen, but you can then see them in the Notification Centre.
Some exmples:
Facebook: you need to select Settings>Notification>Facebook. If you want your notifications from Facebook to show up on your phone, select "Notification centre: ON". Select the Alert Style. If you want to see them in your lock screen, turn "View in Lock Screen:ON." THEN, go to Settings>Facebook>Push Notifications, and select the ones you would like. They will show up on your phone.
EMAIL: Settings>Notifications>Mail.If you want your notifications from your email accounts to show up on your phone, select "Notification centre: ON". Select the Alert Style. If you want to see them in your lock screen, turn "View in Lock Screen:ON." THEN go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>and select the Mail Account you would like notifications for.. Depending on the account type you may need to change your "push or fetch" settings.
TEXT: Settings>Notifications>Messages If you want your notifications from texts to show up on your phone, select "Notification centre: ON". Select the Alert Style. If you want to see them in your lock screen, turn "View in Lock Screen:ON." If you want to see the whole message, select "Show Preview: ON", "OFF will just display the name of the person who sent the text".

Update 4.3.3 to ios 5 or newer version

My wife has an old iphone 4 with 4.3.3 and we'd like tp update it to ios 5 or newer version. Please help me and explain how I could do this?!

Connect your iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes. You'll most likely be prompted to update. If not click the "check for update" button on the summary tab for the device in iTunes. I got a question regarding running iOs and Windows using virtual software.

I got a question regarding running iOs and Windows using virtual software. I recently bought a monitor so I can display Windows on it and run both OS at the same time.Now,I'm using BootCamp. I downloaded VirtualBox for "tranferring" Windows on it. Since I'm a new iOs user , what do I need to do in order to make work?
Do I need to un-install Windows from BootCamp,install VirtualBox and then install them again?
Any information would be appreciate it!

That should work to use OS X, you can run MS Windows using Virtual Box and use a seperate display for the Virtual Box window. That way you can run OS X and MS Windows simultaneously. However remember Virtual Box is freeware and not a commercial application like Parallels or VMWare Fusion and may not have the features of a commercial application. Support for Windows run in any virtualization application (Virtual Box, Parallels or Fusion) is not generally done on this forum as they are not OS X related. To get help on those apps you usually will need to go to their forums.
Remember IOS will not run on either OS X or MS Windows, it only works on IOS devices.

You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Try deleting your last backup by turning off iCloud Backup in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage, swipe across your backup and tap Delete, then go back and turn iCloud Backup back on again. If it still won't back up, you may have an app that is preventing the backup from succeeding. To locate which one, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your device under Backups, under Backup Options tap Show All Apps, then turn them all to Off (including camera roll) and try backing up again. If it succeeds, then the camera roll and/or one of your apps is preventing the backup and you'll have to located by process of elimination. Turn the camera roll On and try backing up again. If it succeeds, turn some of your apps to On and try backing up again. If it succeeds again, turn some more apps to On then try again; repeat this process until it fails. Eventually you'll be able to locate the problem app and exclude it from your backup.

All you can do is get a newer model iPod. The 2G can only go as high as 4.2.1. Its hardare does not support a higher iOS version

You accepted, therefore you have it. Simply put it at the end of your Apps as I have done with Apps I did not want e.g.. Health, Tips, Compass etc.

An update should not loss data, regardless it is always a good idea to do a backup prior to attempting an update.

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is app and data safe!

New Op system ruins exchange and Gmail email

SSince installing the new operating system, my mail accts are essentially useless I'm left with only using on my iPhone as I haven't updated that yet, and now will not. My iPad ran quickly with no issues until this was upgraded. It's so slow, the keyboard sticks on the screen and won't advance letters. Soooooo frustrating!

I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the nature and scope of the issues you are describing. If you are having multiple issues after a recent update to iOS 8, you may want to first try resetting your device:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
If you are still having issues after a reset, you may want to make sure you have a current backup of your data in iTunes, then try restoring your iPad to factory settings and testing it in that default condition to see if the issues persist before restoring your data. New Development system copy from Production

Hi All,
Hope you can help me out here with some ideas.
We are currently planning to implement a new SAP BW Development system, and for this we would like to make it a 1:1 copy of our current production system. Meaning all from customizing, ABAP, workbench objects etc.
But what we do not want is all the transaction and master data in infoobject, cubes etc., we are only interested in the structure and objects. Therefore we can rule out "System copy".
My question is then, is there any other ways to do this when system copy is a no go? I know we can do client copy but then we will not get all the workbench / ABAP programs which we need.
Any ideas on how to do this?

Options 1: As BI objects are cross client , copying client will not solve your purpose 100%.
You can perform system copy and then clean up data in DEV
Option 2: You can create a new Development and then create TRs for required configuration objects and move to new development system.
Option 3: Use SLO tools to perform container copy without any data.

Adding new Remote System unavailable in Web Service Request

I created a CRUD Web service from a table using web service generator.I added a new remote system to the repository.When I invoke the create operation (which has key mapping "Yes"),it says "Remote System not found in the repository"
I am able to view the Remote System via Data Manage though.
Any ideas?

Before generating web services.
Or After generating web services.
If you have added remote system after generating web services.
Then try re-generating web services using web service generator.
