Concurrent user license question

I currently have the 10-client license for OS X Server 10.4.7
I have 3 users in the office and another 9 sales reps not in this office who only need occasional FTP access.
Does a user connected via FTP count as 1 of the client licenses? In other words, if the 3 of us in the office are connected via AFP to a share, does that mean we can have at most 7 FTP users at one time? There's a screen on the FTP service that says 'Allow a maximum of [50] concurrent users' by default... but I don't want to assume.
Quad G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

The 10-client limitation is for concurrent file-sharing users. It doesn't apply to web, ftp or other services. The screen you reference is for your own use in allocating server and bandwidth resources.

  • How to find the concurrent user licenses usuage

    Hi,
Can you someone tell me how to find the concurrent user licenses usage. if i go to CM C -> Settings -> View Global System Metrics then it is showing strange number in the area of peak licenses used since deployment  (more than 5K),
Is there is any Bug or how to refer this?

    Hello Satheesh,
Its is possible to track concurrent user licenses usage by using BI 4 monitoring.

  • Crystal Report Server - how to release concurrent user license

    Hi all,
I have a client using Crystal report server 2008, they have 25 concurrent user license.
On all the services, the timeout properties is using the default 20 minutes timeout.
If user close a session by pressing the X, instead of clicking Logout, it did not release the license.
Example, instead of recording 12 active user session, it seems to show 15 user sessions where CR server shows that one of the users has 3 sessions open when in fact he only has one session.
Is there a way to resolve that?
From the forum post, I found one of them indicating that there is no solution to this.  Is it true?  I hope I am just missing something.

There are no session release tools built into XI other than restarting the CMS. If you want you can use SDK code [such as this |http://johnnyye.com/blog/2008/08/12/business-objects-xi-session-removal-tool/]to accomplish a psuedo session management.
In the current version of CRS the cms or code are the 2 best options. I'd keep a look out for changes in future service packs but I'm not aware of anything specific that will be done.

  • Oracle database Named User License Question

Oracle database Standard Edition ONE licensing has this requirement:
    Maximum of 2 socket server
    Minimum of 5 user licenses.
How are these 5 named user licenses calculated ?
    1) Does it depend on how many computers are connecting to the database ?
    2) Can we have application installed on 7 computers, but concurrently only 5 client computers will be connected to the database ?
    3) Are these named user plus licenses floating ?

  • 5 user license question

I know the $499 price tag for Snow Leopard Server includes a 10-user license. However, does this include a license to install and use Snow Leopard on each of those 10 machines? Or is it just a license for the OS on those machines to connect to Snow Leopard Server?
    Dan

Thanks for clarifying; my question is answered, and I appreciate your input.
On a separate note -- unrelated to my decision making about Snow Leopard Server......
    $29? Are you kidding me?
I paid that to take my Leopard-based MBP to Snow Leopard, but I always assumed it was an upgrade price...is that the price for a full license?!
At home, my wife is using an iMac G5 with a PowerPC chip running Tiger (10.3.x), which means it can't run Snow Leopard. It can run Leopard, but Apple is telling me I have to pay $129 to buy Leopard for her machine.
Are you telling me that it's cheaper to buy a full license for Snow Leopard on an Intel machine than it is to buy the now older/previous version (Leopard) for a Mac?!
I know her machine is officially obsolete now that the OS no longer supports non-Intel chips. But to cost almost 4.5 times the current list price to buy the immediately prior version that does run on the PPC?

  • Single User License Questions

    Hello,
Firstly, since there is no general forum for iWork as a whole (rather than its individual packages), I have posted it here.
    Anyway, back on track.
I am a British MSc student wanting to purchase iWork Single-User at the discounted education price - as MS office for Mac has no UK education discount and seems to crash an awful lot, and Open/Neo Office is, in my opinion, the worlds most counter productive and clumsy software package out there (I hate it!), I have opted for iWork. After trying the demo I really like it! Very slick.
However, I have noticed that there are two packs available for iWork. Single-User and Family Pack, and have become a little confused about how the licensing for iWork pans out.
I want to install iWork on both my 27" iMac "Ratchet" and on my 13" Alu' Notebook "Clank" (yes those are the actual computer names in System Preferences), so I can work on a document with Clank when out and about, upload it to my iDisk, then work on it again with Ratchet when I get home. I am the only user of these two machines, not even a guest account. Will the Single-User license of iWork install and run without running into problems? Or does single user mean one Mac and one Mac only? If its the latter then it looks like I'll have to make do with OpenOffice until I can afford MS Office 2008/11 and just hope it doesn't crash when I click "save" (which did happen very frequently with MSO2008)
    Thanks in advance!
    Ben

Well that just burst my bubble quite dramatically.
In the education store its £35 for the single user which is a hefty 1/2 price discount, but its still £87 for the family pack, no discount to speak of. £87 is only £12 short of Office 2008, so it looks like I'm waiting until next payday before I can afford it, or I dust off the credit card."
    Thanks for the quick answer

It seems silly having two single user disks and for a little extra I get 5 installs and one less disk.

yes I was snippy in reply to Allan Eckert's suggestion of OpenOffice and I apologise, but a rant? Come on mate, how is any of what I said a rant?

  • UCCE 8.5(2) Concurrent User license count

I am looking for a way to view concurrent license and/or user count on a daily basis.  UCCE 8.5(2)

    Here is the solution:
In UIC create a report definition:

    total_agents= AgentTeam.total_agents
    From
    (SELECT agent_team_name=  Agent_Team.EnterpriseName,

    agents_logged_on = sum(CASE WHEN Agent_Real_Time.AgentState <> 0  Then 1 else 0 END),

Description: Whatever you want to call it
        Key Criteria Field: agents_logged_on (agents_logged_on)
Adjust permissions to My Group and All Users

  • User license questions - old user is leaving

    Hi
Because all user application licenses (CRM sales, CRM service, and Professional) are assigned to named users how do we deal with the situation when a member of staff leaves the company and we wish to re-assign that license which is now no longer used to a new user?  Can I do this from within SAP or do I need to email SAP regarding the name change?
I have done a search on this site and the internet but cannot find any information regarding this.
    Thank you for any help.

Here is the Content of that SAP Note.951816
    Symptom
When trying to allocate licenses to users, the number of licenses available is less than the (number of total - number of licenses already assigned).
(Menu Path: Administration -> License -> License Administration)
    Other terms
license allocation, licenses available, license administration, SAP Business One, missing, less.
    Reason and Prerequisites
    Consulting
    Solution
A user with a license allocated to her/him has been deleted from the system without deallocating the license first, or a company with users assigned has been deleted without deallocating the licenses first.
Each time a license is allocated/deallocated an entry is generated in an xml file "B1Upf.xml"
    (Path: C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One ServerTools\License\ B1Upf.xml).
If a user/database is deleted without previous deallocation of a license that entry is not removed from the file thus taking up a license space.
To resolve the issue follow these steps:
    1. Close all SAP Business One clients.
    2. Make a copy of the file (C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One ServerTools\License\B1Upf.xml) and save it with a different name or in a different folder.
    3. Delete the original file.
    4. Stop/Start the license server.
    5. Connect to SAP Business One and assign the licenses (Administration -> License -> License Administration). You will need to reassign licenses for all your users.

  • Doubts about named user license in CMC.

    Hi Gurus,
I'm kinda new to this issue, our client has a named license for only eight users, while testing we realized that a user can logon several times with the same user name in different computers. My questions are, What would be the potential costs that this may entail?, why can I logon several times with the same user?, Is there a way to logon on a computer ending the same user logged on another computer? I have read different posts but I can't find answers to these questions.
    thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Following is explanation for NUL & CUL (named and concurrent user license):
    Named User license:
Typically associated with specific user names.
Allow 'physical users', that are named to access the system based, typically each 'physical users' will have their user name and password.
One named user license is occupied for each physical user accessing the BI Platform, typically this is one user account per 'physical' user.
A named user can have unlimited sessions if not restricted by CUL.
e.g you have 2 named user license. you created two users (say A & B). Once A is logged from a machine. Simultaneously, he can login from other computer as A itself. You would not be able to create more than 2 named users in this case.
    Concurrent license:
Specify the number of sessions that can connect to BusinessObjects Enterprise at the same time.
Each physical user can consume more than one session, for example the same user could use both the browser on a PC and a mobile Application on a mobile device. This would create 2 sessions for the same physical user.
Flexible since a small concurrent license can support a large user base (provided all of them don't login simultaneously ).
Read more, from following SAP Notes:
1285639 - What license types are available for Business Objects Enterprise?
1502152 - If Business Objects Enterprise is configured with only 1 Named User License or 1 Concurrent Active License what is the expected result?
    Hope this information helps.

  • Concurrent crystal license timeout Issue, need help.

    Hi,
My company is using crystal enterprise 10 with 18 concurrent user license.
However, we often hit out of crystal license issues.
Does time to wait for exporting crystal reports to excel/pdf takes up licenses?
Does time to wait for crystal report to be printed or viewed on the web browser takes up licenses?
We all know that user sessions take up user licenses. 1 user login take up 1 license.
Does crystal pruning job takes up user licenses too?
    Need help urgently, much appreciated.

    Hi Daren,
Support on Cystal Enterprise 10 has expired. Make sure that your users are actually logging off and not just closing their browser.
One user can take up multiple licenses by not logging off or opening multiple browsers to view multiple reports. Scheduled jobs that are running do not take up license, but a user veiwing a historical instance does take up a license.
In your metrics tab in the Cyrsatl Management Console -> Servers-> cms you should be able to see the active number of sessions- system connections are backend connections between the servers and these do not take up any licenses.

  • Named and Concurrent users

    Dear Friends,
Please help me to find named number of users in PeopleSoft specific to module.Below are the modules i am using and i wanted to know named and concurrent users using these modules
    Human Resources
    Benefits Administration
    Pension Administration
    Thanks
    Uday.

    Hi Bart,
Difference between named users and concurrent users:
Named user means when you buy BOXI you buy a certain amount of named user licenses and then you give each of these named users a login. It`s a cheaper type of license but you have to know exactly who your users are, and so is pretty useless if your userbase is constantly changing or your exposing Infoview over the web.
Concurrent user licenses are now only available in BOXI Edge - the equiv in BOXI Pro\Premium is a CPU license, which means you can let as many people login as your hardware will support. Concurrent user licenses are useful when you don`t know who your userbase is - you can just give a generic login for people to use. Or give people specific logins and not worry that they might not be using the system and using up a valuable named user license.

  • Concurrent users on XI Developer?

I currently support serveral customers for whom we have installed bespoke Crystal RAS systems. As part of the support procedures I have upgraded from an old Crystal Advanced Developer v9 to Crystal Reports XI Developer Edition (now updated to R2 SP4). However, all of my customers use unmanaged RAS servers with concurrent user licensing, how can I emulate the same set-up utilising the Developer version since it seems to support named user licenses only?
My application uses classic ASP via the standard CrystalReports.ObjectFactory and CrystalClientDoc.ReportClientDocument model. Is there something I can add to this to enable named user access, or is there something can be done on the RAS configuration side to allow my concurrent licensing "flavour" of ASP code to work with a named user license?
I donlt need concurrent licensing other tha  to be able to replicate and develop against the same scenarios my ciustomers have... as the sole developer I will be the only person accessing my installation of RAS.
I look forward to heating your suggestions and hope for a viable solution.

Thankyou for your replies. I have developed our product using RAS9 up until now, but since nearly all our deployed products are now utilising CR Server XI R2, I need to replace my development system to be able to replicate bugs and add new features using CR XI. It's starting to look as though development users are really not being catered for here... rather a shame seeing as I have attained the sale of about 10 Server licenses for BO/SAP on the strength of selling our system to our customers. Since the RAS delivered with CR Dev XI only allows NULs, I would have to fork out the full Server price in order to have a development system running an unmanaged RAS... a real shame and a huge missed opportunity... even a 1 user NUL would have been sufficient.
The curent scenario was that prompted me toreplace my RAS9 dev system with CR Dev XI was that I was asked by a customer to add the refresh button to the Advanced HTML viewer so that it re-ran the report without prompting for new parameters (i.e. refresh the report data using the same parameters).
After reviewing the documentation, I amended my copy of the CrystalReportsInteractiveViewer.asp file from the ASP developer examples to have the following attribute settings:
    viewer.HasRefreshButton = true
    viewer.EnableParameterPrompt = false
    viewer.ReuseParameterValuesOnRefresh  = true
Not having CR XI running on my dev system I was unable to test it, but one of our engineers installed it on site, but said the Viewer refreshed the report, but prompted for new parameters whereas we wanted it to reuse the old parameters.

  • How does ISE count concurrent users ?

    Ciao,
trying to make sense of ISE concurrent users licensing, does it count a user only when it's connected ?
If I have 500 users Active Directory (using groups in policy) or 500 users in local database, are there differences in count ?
    Regards,
    Iarno

    Hello,
Active Directory and local DB users are not counted separately. The  count is on the basis of number of user and non-user endpoints  connected. They can be Printers, IP Phones, labtops, iphones and android  phones etc.
A High Level Design (HLD) is a document which is required to be  submitted by ATP and non-ATP partners of ISE at the time or before they  place an order for ISE products except lab and wireless only orders. HLD  should be written by an ISE Trained Engineer.
Reason behind getting a HLD submitted by the partners is to make sure  the ISE is deployed properly as it is supposed to be. There is a SAC BU  approved template of HLD which needs to be filled and sent to  [email protected], where a dedicated team review that particular HLD  and approves if they find all the information correct in the document.
    Best Regards.

  • A quick question about WebDynpro SLD and R/3 with concurrent users

    Hello ,
I have a very quick question about Webdynpros and SLD connecting to an R/3 system, when you configure a webdynpro to connect to an R/3 system using SLD, you configure a user name and password from the R/3  for the SLD to use. What I would like to know is when I have concurrent users of my webdynpro, how can I know what one user did in R/3 and what another user did? Is there a way for the users of the web dynpro to use their R/3 credentials so SLD can access the R/3? Like dynamically configuring the SLD for each user?
    - I would like to avoid leaving their their passwords open in the code ( configuring two variable to get the users username and password and use these variables as JCO username and password )
    Thanks Ubergeeks,
    Guy

    Hi Guy
You will have to use Single Sign On to achieve this. In the destination you have defined to connect to R/3 , there is an option to 'useSSO' instead of userid and password. This will ensure that calls to R/3 will be with the userid that has logged into WAS. You wont need to pass any passwords because  a login ticket is generated from WAS and passed on to R/3. The userid is derived from this ticket.
For this to happen you will have to maintain a trust relation ship between R/3 and your WAS ,there is detailed documentation of this in help files. Configuration is very straight forward and is easy to perform
