Conditions in report (radiobutton : single char or combination of char)

I have a got a doubt while writing conditions , could you please help me?
Question : What is the use of "radiobutton: <u>single charateristics or combination of charateristics</u>" under "Evaluate the conditions below" block.

You can find more information under Ranked List Condition: Top 5 Products and Ranked List Condition for All Characteristics in Drilldown Independent: Top 3 Products and Top 3 Sales Channels.
¡        If you want to evaluate the condition for certain drilldowns of defined characteristics or characteristic combinations, in the field Evaluate the Conditions Below for Single characteristics or Combinations of Characteristics. You can then make entries in the list of characteristics used in the queries in rows, columns, or free characteristics.
                                                  i.       If you only want to evaluate the condition when a certain characteristic is present in the drilldown, select this characteristic.
                                                ii.       If you want to evaluate the condition for characteristic combinations, select multiple characteristics. You can find more information under Ranked List Condition for Characteristic Combination: Top 3 Combinations of Product and Sales Channel.

Mutiple reports(20 simple reports) into single .rdl

hi im trying to combine very simple 20 reports into single SSRS report.
for this i took 20 tablixes one top of other to avoid the white spaces(as tablixes move down im getting white space)
and in hidden im seeking the tablix based in Reportname input parameter.
so is there any other approach where i can make this using rectangle or subreports or any other work around.

i have gone through ur blog,im doing the same way hiding and seeking according to input report parameter.
but problem is when i create one by one tablixes which go down that space is shown as white space or blank.
if i place one on top of other i get warnings which we cannot take up.

Hi,
BI server needs one fact table to be joined to produce the query.
If you are having at least one fact table in the RPD then the dimension table will try to create join with the fact table and produce the result with the dimension table only.
But in the physical query it will have the fact table too.
Or else you can create a dummy fact table in the RPD.

How to use multiple hierarchies for a single char in single query

Hi,
Is there any way that we can use multiple hierarchies for a single char in single query. I tried and it just allows me to select one hierarchy even if I use hierarchy variable.
I have a requirement where user wants to see information related to a cost center with different cost center groups in different hierarchies (every year has different cost center group hierarchies).
Suppose I want to see information related to a cost center from year 2001-2004.in these four year cost center may have been associated to different groups depending upon that year hierarchy. How can I do that?

Nope. Now way to do this.
There is always just one hierarchy assigned to a characteristic. And even if the hierarchy was time dependent, it only reads it for one key date and not according to transaction data.

Hi Jack,
You can formulate conditions in the query designer to make data analysis more efficient. In the results area of the query, the data is filtered according to the conditions so that only the part of the results area that you are interested in is displayed.
Procedure
Choose New Condition. (You can find this menu entry in the Query Designer toolbar under This graphic is explained in the accompanying text to the right of This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Condition). The Define Condition dialog box appears.
Specify a name for the condition in the Description field.
Note:If you only want to define the condition and not execute it actively in the query, remove the check from the active, which was set by default.
You now have the following options:
If the condition lines below are to be evaluated independent of one another for all of the characteristics in the drilldown and you want to use the same condition for multiple characteristics of the query, select Evaluate Conditions Below for All Characteristics in the Drilldown Independently.
You can choose from the following operators for threshold conditions:
   Is equal to
-         Is not equal to
-         Is less than
-         Is greater than
-         Is less than or equal to
-         Is greater than or equal to
-         Is between (is in the interval)
-         Is not between (is not in the interval)
These operators demand a floating point number as a value. For the operators is in interval and is not in interval, you must enter a value area, that is, a lower and an upper threshold value.
You can choose from the following operators for ranked list functions:
¡        Top N
¡        Bottom N
¡        Top percent
¡        Bottom percent
¡        Top sum
¡        Bottom sum

and seconds report is

my requirement is that i want to develop

Product Units (Columns needs to be aaded)

Hi,
Try to select all the columns required in both reports into single criteria.
step1:
In table view select only first report columns and exclude the 2nd report coulmns.
step 2:
In pivot or table view select only 2nd report columns and exclude 1st report columns.
step3:
use this both views in compound view and save so u can see both views values of different reports.

Parsing single chars to a vector.

I'm reading from a file, using BufferedReader. Readig a line at a time. Currently i have a StringTokenizer which breaks up the line using whitespace. How can I break up the "input" line by single chars, and how do I get the delim to work using the StringTokenizer, so that I can use other char instdead of using whitespace- or set up mutliple delims.
Is there a way I could add the single chars to a vector as an indvidual element to the vector so that I can bump off the elements that I do not have a use for?

In order to use the " character, you need to use the escape character \" So, your statement would look like
st = new StringTokenizer(yourString,"\"<");The second char in that is a <, but the parser on the site sometimes converts it to the html code as & lt; Just use whatever chars you need in the second parameter

Single report with multiple queries OR multiple reports with single query

Hello Experts,
I have a confusion regarding Live Office connection for many days. I asked many people but did not get a concrete answer. I am re-posting this question here and expecting an answer this time.
The product versions that I am using are as follows:
FrontEnd:
BOE XI 3.1 SP4 FP 4.1
Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 SP4
Backend:
SAP BW 7.0 EHP1
I have created a dashboard which is getting data from a webi report using LO connections.
The webi report has five report parts which are populated by five different queries.
Now my question is, when the five LO connections are refreshed, is the webi report refreshed five times or just once?
If the report is refreshed five times, then I guess it is better to have five different webi reports containing single report part, because in that way we can prevent same query being executed multiple times.
SO what is the best practice- to have a single report having multiple queries - OR - to create multiple webi reports with single query?

And
i want to display only BILL NO,BILL DATE, PAYMENT MODE, CHEQUE NO, CHEQUE DATE,TOTAL AMOUNT when i select PAYMENT MODE Cheque in Select List ITEM
How Can i Conditionally Display Report Column.

Should I use CHAR(1) or VARCHAR(1) for a single char column?

I think it doesnt matter CHAR or VARCHAR2
I always go for CHAR(1) for mandatory single char column

Why Java cannot read a single char ?

Hi all,
Have you ever tried to read a single char in java
and output to the screen? I have tried nearly all
IO streams but it seems that System.in doesn't
returns until a CR/LF is issued. Why is it implemented this way?
Are there any alternatives (JNI ?) ?

Crystal Reports prompt single value variable from BEX

Hi,
after upgrade to BO 4.1 SP2 Patch 3 the prompt from BEX variable in CR doesn't work.
After investigation the issue is happened for variables containing more than 9 values.
Bex Setting: Variable -> Details -> Variable Represents -> Single value
Variable which shows Jan-Dec
The issue happens only on CR file stored in BO server in Cr design time it works fine.
Is the bug known? Is there any solution?

Now tell me how you want to show that Prompt @ WebI report level.
My problem is that in WebI selection screen we get list of date values from the info provider instead of Calendar prompt
where user can enter the values directly. Exactly, i didn't get this??
@Prompt:
You have flexibility to show options like:
Mono/Multi: User can select Single value or Multiple.
BW Variable: Same we have (Single/Multiple)
Free/Constrained: User can Enter his/her value directly or No change option.
BW Variable: By defalut you will get this, once you made it to Optional input.
Persistent/Not_Persistent: Refreshed report has to show last selected value means use Persistent otherwise Not_P.
By seeing the Prompt syntax , I can say your Variable is after Customer Exit, Correct??
Workaround for your Problem is:
<FILTER KEY="ZV_DATE"><CONDITION OPERATORCONDITION="Equal"><CONSTANT TECH_NAME="@Prompt('Date (Previous Day)','A','Date\LovDate (Previous Day)Base',mono,primary_key)"/></CONDITION></FILTER>
You have to remove that Date class and objects from prompt syntax. Because of that it showing up LOV's not calendar.
Like:
<FILTER KEY="ZV_DATE"><CONDITION OPERATORCONDITION="Equal"><CONSTANT TECH_NAME="@Prompt('Date (Previous Day)','A',',mono,primary_key)"/></CONDITION></FILTER>
Why, It should be blank??
Because Date needs no class\object to show up, by default you will get Calendar on the fly.

SSRS report - A single selection dropdown list converted to text box

Hello everyone,
We created a single selection dropdown parameter (City parameter) on a report. The data in this parameter is populated using MDX query. Also, it is filtered based on selection of another single selection dropdown list (Country parameter) of a report.
The problem is when there is no cities for the selected country the dropdown list is gets converted to free type text box and user can insert city data in it. Why SSRS is not keeping it as empty dropdown list with no data?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Regarding parameter settings on General tab for both the above parameters we did not select any of the following values, all these checkboxes are empty:

I think it has something related to [Measures].[Amt] that we used in customer parameter. We are now trying to take other two parameters where we would be not using the [Measures].[Amt] to filter the data. Will update you soon.
