Coneecting to internet through USB

Hi
I'm looking to go wi-fi and have a Powerbook G4 - my current internet provider is Wanadoo (UK) of which I have a broadband modem and connect to through a USB cable.
Reading the material on Airport Express it only references connecting to the internet through the 'ethernet connection' - will it still work through the system I have (ie through a USB)?
Thanks in advance for your time.
Regards
DK

... so what you first need to do is replace your existing USB-interface DSL modem with an ethernet interface DSL modem.
If all you want to do is set up wireless access to the internet (ie you don't need the iTunes streaming feature provided by an Airport Express) then you might forget about buying an Airport Express at all. Just buy what is called a "wireless gateway" (a combo DSL modem and wireless router) supported for use with Wanadoo's service.

What do you mean that the USB tethering doesn't exist? You can connect to the internet while it's connected to USB. Does iphone 3G S not have that feature? I know that with my iPhone 4 that I can tether via USB connection.
To the OP: You will have to talk to your cellular provider and find out if they have tethering plan.

  • Nokia 5310 + internet through USB or bluetooth

I was wondering whether it is possible to browse the internet on Nokia 5310 using a bluetooth or USB connection instead of GPRS, mainly because the inverse is possible (browse internet on my PC using data connection from my phone through USB or bluetooth).
If yes, how can I do? If no, is there any hope to become possible?

Although, through bluetooth method is promising.

  • Iphone internet through usb

Is there a way to connect my iPhone to the Internet through the USB cable?
I have an ADSL Internet connection, and cannot figure out how to connect to the Internet from my iPhone through the USB cable (supplied with each iphone).
    Thanks

If you get a wireless router to create a wi-fi or wireless network at home with your wireless router connected to your ADSL modem (which will be connected to the modem via Ethernet), you can access your ADSL internet connection via wi-fi with your iPhone.

  • Internet through USB possible?

Is it possible to have internet on ipod touch with the lan connection on a pc (or mac for other people)
    If so, how?
    If not, why not?
(I want to use this internet WITHOUT WiFi)

I don't think 3g is needed, i saw people do it without it. Its also not useless, because you don't allways have the rights on a computer to create a wifi hotspot, so a cabled connection is needed to update your agenda, games, news and other data without having the rights to download itunes on THAT pc. This could be the case at work or at school.
So, does anyone know why it can't be done without 3G? Why is this not a optional extra?

  • How to use mobile internet in xp system through usb cable

I was using mobile internet on my pc through usb tether. I have a xp system and I connect through use cable. I downloaded PdaNet+ usb tether driver and it was working fine for a couple of days. But now it is not working and I can't even re-install it. Can anyone tell me the other option to install usb tether driver on xp system.

Not possible. The USB connection only allows for data transfer between the computer and the device, it cannot function as a gateway to the Internet.

  • Internet Audio will no longer Play Through USB Output to hi-fi Amplifier & Speakers

My audio output jack on my Mac G4 is broken. I have been taking audio out of the computer by USB into a device that converts the audio so it can be used with a traditional amplifier and speakers. This presently, still works fine for audio or audio/video sources that are stored on my hard drive.  Yesterday, I was looking at a youtube video embedded on a non-youtube site. Both audio and video were working fine. Then the audio stopped working. I went to the youtube site and no audio worked there either. I have tried myspace and other sources with audio/video, but no longer will audio from the internet, play on the USB system.  Any player on the hard drive will produce audio through the USB port to the amplifier system. If I switch the Mac OS X.4.11 system preferences to select the internal speakers for the output destination, I can get audio from the internet again. Then everything from the internet or the computer plays through the internal speakers. I have Safari and Firefox Browsers. I need to be able to play music from the internet through the USB port to my amplifier and speakers. One suggestion I researched was to trash the Macromedia preferences and then restart the browser. I tried that to no avail. Hopefully, somebody out there knows what happened and can tell me how to fix it.

    Hi BD,
Thanks for saving me. And thanks for responding so quickly. Your answer was there when I got up. For me 48 hours was a long time to go without that function.
I had seen one reference to the audio midi setup app and had looked at it but somehow only saw the midi devices dialog box which I had dealt with in the past. After your post I went back to it and I immediately discovered that there is also an audio devices dialog box.
From the drop-down menu I selected 44100.0 hz int the format field on the output (right) side of the dialog box.
Also the Default Ouput and the System Output fields had built-in audio selected instead of iMic USB audio system. I used the drop-down menus to switch them back.
So watching the youtube video imbedded on a non-youtube site must have changed those settings.
Any idea why that would have happened?
Now, I'm wondering if the little iMic USB audio system which converts the digital signal to analog line level out is actually a little midi device? Well, maybe not since there is no midi plug involved. I have seen that setting (44.0 Khz) relating to CDs I think. I'm guessing that 44.0 Khz and 44100.0 hz are very close to being exactly the same thing.
So does 44.0 Khz = line level (analog audio)?
Anyway, BD, Thanks again for solving my problem and doing it so quickly. What a relief!
Have a great 4th of July holiday weekend,

  • TS1253 I am connected to internet through  modem. How can I use Time Capsule as a wreless harddrive and connection to USB printer

Can I use a Time Capsule as a part of my network> I am connected to internet through modem and want to use Time capsule as  a wireless harddrive and wireless connection to usb printer. How can I do that? Please help

This type of setup is not officially supported by Apple.
It might be possible to configure the Time Capsule this way, but please take a minute to consider a few things that you may not have thought about, as this is...frankly....the worst possible way that you could configure the Time Capsule.
Wireless backups will take twice as long as normal wireless.  Why? The signal must make a "double hop".
Hop "one" would be from your Mac to the wireless router, then the signal must make hop "two" to get back to the Time Capsule.
In addition to doubling the time for backups to occur, this doubles the chances for an error to occur during a backup.
The Ethernet ports are not enabled at all on the Time Capsule when it is configured this way, so backup over much faster Ethernet is not possible.
The USB port is enabled, so assuming that the printer is compatible, it could be configured to connect that way. Keep in mind that only printing is supported. If you have an All-in-One device, advanced functions like scan, copy, maintenenance will not be supported.
So, do you really want to try this?  There are no guarantees here that things will work at all.

I recently tried updating my iPad and while doing this, my internet connection faulted. since then my PC does not recognise my i Pad when connected through USB. Can anyone help please???

You may have to force your iPad into recovery mode in order to restore the device since the update did not complete. This article explains how to do that.

I have take pictures from my ipad 4. How to download to my computer with windows operating system conneted through USB cable with out using internet

Plug your iPad into your computer. THere may be a delay while it installs drivers but if you can see your iPad in windows explorer, use that to get to your photos.
Click on your iPad and you should see a DCIM folder. Click thorugh that to find your photos.
Windows explorer will see your iPad as nothing more than a digital camera, and that's the part you're trying to access.

  • How to connect a Sony Bravia TV to the internet through your Airport network

Since it took me a lot of time to figure out how to connect my Sony Bravia TV to the internet through my Airport network, I better share how to do it. Hopefully saving others a lot of time.
My 32EX600 Sony Bravia TV is Ethernet connected to my Mac Mini, which is part of my Airport network, together with another Mac, an Airport Extreme Base Station and an ADSL modem/router. Moreover, the Mac Mini is connected to the TV by HDMI.
Whatever I tried in the TV’s Wired Network Set-up (Auto, or Manual with manual IP, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS IPs), I couldn’t get it right. Cable Connection and Local Access were mostly OK, Internet Access always Failed.
The solution lies in the Sharing panel of the System Preferences of the Mac Mini. In the Internet Sharing item of that panel, you should choose to “share your internet connection from WiFi to computers (the TV in this case) using Ethernet“, and NOT (as I had chosen before and seemed so obvious) “share your internet connection from Airport to computers using Ethernet“. After that change, the Bravia Network Set-up, using the Wired and Auto options, flawlessly connected to the internet. No expensive (Sony) WiFi USB dongle needed.

I have now had a detailed reply from Sony Europe and the way to do this is to:
    1.       Press Home on the TV Setup
    2.       Use the right and left arrow to select Setting.
    3.       Use the up and down to select Network, press Enter.
    4.       Select Network Setup.
    5.       Select Wireless setup.
    6.       Select Scan
    7.       Select your network
    8.       A new screen will appear asking for entering the security key.
    9.       Enter your WPA2 key.
    10.   Select Enter.
    11.   It will take you back to the same screen asking for entering the
    security key.
    12.   Press the right arrow.
    13.   Select Auto.
    14.   Press the right arrow.
    15.   Select Save and connect.
These instructions are not the same as shown on the TV but they worked fine for me so they may help others with a similar problem.

  • Windows 8.1 laptop cannot connect to the internet using USB Mobile Broadband stick.

I bought a new laptop and it came with Windows 8.1 installed. Well, things worked perfectly until I wanted to connect to the internet using my mobile broadband USB stick. I installed the software that came with the stick, and my laptop recognize
the stick but I still cant connect to the internet. The stick workes perfect in my Windows 7 and Windows 8 laptops, but IT DONT CONNECT WITH MY WINDOWS 8.1 LAPTOP. What can I do to troubleshoot this???
HOPE I AM SPECIFIC ENOUGH THOU...

    The PC Repair Guy,
If you haven't already, verify that you can connect to the internet through some other means such as Wi-Fi or Ethernet with your laptop to rule out any network setting issues.  If you are able to connect successfully to the internet, use that opportunity
    to make sure you have
Windows 8.1 Update installed as well as any other applicable updates your laptop may require.
You may also want to check the
Windows Compatibility Center to make sure that your device is compatible with Windows 8.1.
Another possibility is that the driver your laptop is installing for the device isn't the correct one.  Check the device manufacturer's site for the most up to date driver they have available for Windows 8.1.
    Hope this helps!
