Conexant pebble high definition smart audio is annoying

My computer has the previously mentioned driver for sound, I think it came in an update because my computer has two sound drivers, but that's not the point.  The point is that for some inane reason whenever I am playing a game, like Minecraft, and I am listening to music from Windows Media Player, whenever I left click the sound of my music immediately diminishes and stays that way for a few seconds and then returns to its previous level.  I have found this function extremely annoying and have I have done everything from going through the settings to trying to remove the driver so that it would revert back to what I believe the computer originally came with.  Someone please tell me either how to eradicate the conexant driver, or how to shut off that blasted feature.
             Thank-you.

I have a G60t-500 CTO and am having the same issue. When I ran the pre-installation check with Microsoft, none of the audio drivers provided an error.  I installed over my Windows7 Pro 64-bit installation and all went well.  Love the new Windows 8 graphics.  But no sound.  Nada.  I looked at the list of beta drivers that was included in the link in the above post but it's the exact same driver that's installed.  So much for that option.  There is no good information online.  You have to dig through a bunch of crap and try to avoid the vendors who want you to buy their driver fixing software package (no thank you very much).
I did try to do a reinstall of the audio driver.  Windows recommended I set the compatibility to WinXP SP3.  It installed, no errors, but still no sound.  Tried to install to make it compatible with Windows 7 but got the same results ... nothing.
My laptop is only 4 years old.  I bought it in November, 2008.  I have no intention of buying a new one but if I want to go to Windows 8, it seems I'll have to do that.  I paid the $50 for Win8 Pro AND Media Center.  Now I have to see if I could get my money back (I seriously doubt it).  This is just another ploy to get you to make another computer purchase of you want to upgrade.  Every disappointing.    My husband needs a new laptop.   I'm steering him clear from HP and sending him to Asus (he does NOT want an Apple).

  • HP Pavilion G60-635DX - No Sound in Windows 8 with Conexant Pebble High Definition Smart Audio

    All,
I would like to report a bug when using the Conexant Pebble High Definition Smart Audio Driver in Windows 8.
    First, a bit of background:
    Product Name/Number - HP Pavilion G60-635DX
    Operating System - Windows 8 Professional x64 (Build 9200)
Sound Driver / Version - Conexant Pebble High Definition Smart Audio (Version 4.98.60.50)
    BIOS -  Latest version
This is a unique situation due to the fact that the Conexant sound driver installs fine in Windows 8 and shows all signs that the device is working properly:
    1. You receive a speaker icon (Without red X) on the task bar.
    2. No device conflicts in device manager
    3. Device properties show device is 'Working Properly'
Here is the issue, I decided to do an in-place upgrade to Windows 8 from Windows 7 and the process went fine, however when I was up and running in Windows 8, I was receiving no audio. I uninstalled and reinstalled the device driver, I uninstalled and reinstalled the sound controller and I also disabled and re-enabled the services that are responsible for Windows sound. I also ran the Microsoft troubleshooting wizard for fixing audio issues in Windows 8. The wizard was unable to find any issues.
Finally, I decided to do a full wipe/format of the system and install from scratch. This still did not fix the issue. I know for a fact my physical speakers are functioning because they were working in the Windows 7 instance.
I have been doing research and I'm finding that other people are having similar issues with other Conexant drivers in Windows 8. I call this a bug because the driver shows all signs of compatibility, however no sound is produced.
I cannot seem to find any solutions to this issue so I have resulted in going back to Windows 7 where my sound is currently working. If there are no solutions to this problem, I would appreciate if an administrator can forward this report to the necessary parties so a solution can be developed.
    Thank you,
    Eric

  • XP Drivers for Conexant High Definition Smart Audio 221 - Do they exist?

I recently purchased a Compaq C776CA and installed XP Home SP3 in order to be comaptable with my software requirements.
Unfortunately the only drivers that I have been able to find for the sound chipset are Vista drivers, and that means that my microphone is not working.
Has anyone been able to overcome this?  Are there XP drivers available that I have not been able to discover?
    Compaq Presario C776CA Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 3 GB DDR2 Ram
    Windows XP SP3
Conexant High Definition Smart Audio 221 Mobile Intel 965 Express Video Chipset

In an old topic I dug up that it seems XP's SP3 needs an updated UUA driver, I don't know much about that issue but here's the link to it which you may need.
    http://www.dashken.net/uploads/technology/software/XPSP3/Universal_Audio_Architecture_High_Definitio...
To clarify the rest of what we've covered, you didn't use the device ID I posted but used the one shown in the properties for yours and it still didn't find the device after having installed the MS UAA driver?  I might not have explained it well, some of the driver packages have a different "DEV_####" earlier in the same line which also needs changed, while others don't.
From the Vista Conexant Audio driver on your system's download page, I got this device & subsystem ID:
    DEV_5045&SUBSYS_103C30D9
Unless HP is offering the wrong Vista driver for your system, this should be the one seen in Device Manager, the properties for the HD Audio device.
If that is right in the INF file for any of these drivers we've linked, when you run the setup.exe it should find the audio device and install the driver.  Whether or not that device then works has a lot to do if it's the right driver, but it seems to be.  Google turned up a few references of others editing their INF file with the string yours seems to have.
Here's the 34200 driver with the above dev & subsys ID edited into it, try that.  At worst if it bluescreens the system just boot to safe mode and get rid of it in add/remove programs.
    http://www.mediafire.com/?dvu1tudnljg
If it doesn't work I'd begin to wonder if part of the Intel chipset driver isn't installed, or if XP's SP3 is causing the problem but perhaps the above linked MS UAA file will take care of that.
As for the other drivers in their original form, based on the above DEV & SUBSYS numbers, if 5045 and 103C30D9 are correct, we can rule out the first driver both I and Cheryl linked as not possibly working (unless it's edited) since it lists a different pair of strings: DEV_5051&SUBSYS_103C30CD & DEV_5051&SUBSYS_103C30D6
The second driver I linked in my first post to sp35270 also won't work (again assuming the first DEV & SUBSYS #s above are right for your system), unless edited, because it lists DEV_5045&SUBSYS_103C30A5
Same for the original sp34200, it lists DEV_5045&SUBSYS_103C30B7 & DEV_5045&SUBSYS_103C30BB, but it seemed as close a match as any so it's the one that was edited and on mediafire.

If have SP2, you'll need to install the Microsoft High Definition UAA bus driver hotfix:
    http://driveragent.com/files/kb888111xpsp2.exe (703KB)
If you have SP3, you don't need it, proceed with the following.  For Audio and Modem, download the following driver packs (the installer will fail, read below for further info):
Conexant HDA Soft Modem with SmartCP
    DriverVer=02/14/2007, 7.62.00.52
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp36001-36500/sp36089.exe (11MB)
    Conexant High Definition Audio Device
    DriverVer = 02/14/2007, 3.34.0.50
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp36001-36500/sp36090.exe (4.1MB)
Run the two Conexant packages above.  You will receive an error about no compatible hardware.  We just want to run the installer to extract the driver files.  The driver files will be extracted to C:\SWSetup\SPxxxxx
Go to Control Panel > Device Manager.  Single right-click on the 'unknown' audio device and select "Update Driver".  From the Hardware Update wizard:
Select 'no, not this time' when asked to connect to the internet, click next.
Select 'install from a specific location' (advanced), click next.
Select 'Don't search, I will choose the driver to install', click next.
In the list of common hardware types, scroll down and select Sound, Video, and Game controllers, click next.
In the next dialogue box, click Have Disk.
Browse to the folder where SP36090 was extracted (e.g. C:\SWSetup\SP36090) and select CpV30D5a.inf, click OK.
In the next dialogue, select Conexant High Definition Audio-Venice 5045.  If you receive a warning that Windows cannot verify compatibility with this driver, select 'Proceed' or 'Ignore' (or whatever option that allows you to continue installing the driver).
When the driver is finished installing, restart your PC.  Do the same thing for the modem, except the extraction folder will be C:\SWSetup\SP36089 and the INF is SprtHD5m.inf.
Restart and you should be good.
If you still have an 'unknown' PCI device, it is your touchpad and Quick Launch buttons.  If you install the software for Quick Launch Buttons, the 'unknown' PCI device will go away, as well.

  • Conexant High Definition Smart Audio 221

I was trying to use some external speakers. The sound would not go thru the external speakers.  I messed up the sound. On the control panel under sound, on the recording tab I made it listen thru this device or something like that. I then closed the lid. A sound like a siren went off. The system freezes up. I had to disable the sound card.
Any ideas how I can go back in and undo what I did?

    Hi:
The only suggestion I can offer is that you launch the system restore utility and restore your PC back to a date that the audio was working correctly.  The date selected has to be in bold. Pick  a date closest to when it was working OK.
You will lose any programs you installed after the restore point date you select.

  • IDT High Definition (HD) Audio Driver problem after windows 8.1 update 1.

Hello. I have HP Probook 4730s. After I installed Windows 8.1 update 1 the sound driver stopped working properly. When I want to play some music, video or even system sounds, sound appears after 1-2 minutes. At that time HDD usage is 100% cause of windows audio device graph isolation. I’ve installed that IDT High Definition (HD) Audio Driver from HP’s driver support site, but that’s not working. As I see in device manager driver’s release date is 24.10.2012. I think, it’s too old for Windows 8.1. Can you help me? Is there any other newer version of that sound driver? Also I’m sending two pictures where are HDD usage and driver release date.

  • Windows 8.1 IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver

I was cleaning up my programs and accidently uninstalled  IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver. This caused my Beats audio to be uninstalled as well.  Is there a way i can get it back? I have tried installing  IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver from Hp links but it keeps saying "The hardware detected is not supported by this IDT software package. The install will be aborted." Please help.

    Hi,
Version 6491 is newer than 6486.
You should have the Beats audio applet in control Panel. The driver includes the Beats audio software. You should have full functionality. Reboot your system and check Control Panel.
My system is a fairly new HP Envy 810-150se. The latest IDT audio codec for my system is 6486.
Where did you obtain Beats version 6491?

  • IDT High-Definition HD Audio Beats Audio

    Hi,
My Pavillion DV7 6B51EA recently had to be restored and I have slowly been working through the issues that this has presented.
However 2 issues persist but the one that is giving me the most grief is that I can no longer use my bluetooth receiver that is connected to my stereo and I believe that IDT is at fault.
The CSR software says the 2 items have paired/sinked, the AZIO APTX Bluetooth dongle displays activity that confirms that data is being transmitted and the MASS Audio Bluetooth remains active confirming that is receiving data (it goes into standby if it doesn't receive data and works faultlessly with my iphone and ipad.
Currently the laptop speakers do not mute handing over the functionality to wireless side of the laptop.
There are 3 drivers on my laptop with regards to IDT
High Definition Audio Device - Does not contain BEATS Audio
IDT High Definition Audio Codec Version 6.10.6329.0 - contains BEATS Audio but the slide controls do not work
IDT High Definition Audio Codec Version 6.10.6381.0 - contains BEATS Audio but the slide controls do not work
I have downloaded other IDT drivers following the instructions as given but again they do not work or fail due to not being compatible with the hardware.
It would appear that I have to find the exact driver for the DV7 6B51EA that may have been downloaded as an update or find a copy of the existing drivers with full functionality but where can they be found for a 4 year old laptop or have I ignored another possibility entirely ?

Did you do a restore or a recovery?
You can install the original drivers using the recovery manager. HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7)
If that did not overcome the difficulty, I suggest you do a full recovery back to factory.
HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 7)
Once that is complete then run the  HP Support Assistant   to acquire any HP updates.

  • HP Elitebook 8560p driver update error: IDT High Definition (HD) Audio Driver

    Hi there,
    Hoping someone can help..
So I tried updating/installing the latest IDT Audio driver for my Elitebook 8560p, but get this error each time:
I'm pretty sure this is because I stupidly uninstalled IDT soon after getting the laptop.. I did this because I use a seperate audio interface for recording music and didn't want any conflicts. I didn't realize uninstalling this would disable the internal audio entirely (and irreversibly it seems)! My audio still works when I connect my external audio interface, but this is quite annoying as I have to bring the interface with me everywhere, like I can't just watch a Youtube video and listen through internal speaker OR headphone output..I have to hook it up to my interface each time..urgh. My own fault I know, but I would have thought this driver installation package would work and put it back on my system..
FYI, I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.
I remember reading a thread about this eact same problem ages ago, someone had done the same thing and was having the same problem re-enabling//re-installing it. I think he managed to find a fix that worked for him that involved removing the battery and holding the power button for 30 seconds, or something along those lines.. I remember trying that method by copying his instructions step-by-step, but it didn't work for me
Anyone else, or any HP tech support know any kind of fix for this? Fingers crosed.
Many thanks for any help or advice in advance!
    Lauren

  • IDT High Definition (HD) Audio Driver not installing

HP Support Assistant asked me to update the drivers and programs and I did so. However, I didn't have time to update all so I updated only a few and restarted my notebook to install them. The IDT HD Audio Driver needed to be updated as all audio stopped playing due to this. I tried downloading the Audio Driver thrice but it would never get installed. It would simply download and installation would fail. Now I can't listen to any audio file. Thanks for the help.

    Hey,
Try installing this driver: IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver
If that fails, try using the HP Recovery Manager to roll back to the factory installed driver.
Test after both. Let me know if either option worked.
