Config archive for Cisco 4404 WLC devices

Nodes are discovered properly, with the correct icon, and inventory updated.... but when we try to download config, we got:
*** Device Details for XXXXXXX ***
Protocol ==> Unknown / Not Applicable
Selected Protocols with order ==> Telnet,TFTP,SSH,RCP,HTTPS
Execution Result:
Unable to get results of job execution for device. Retry the job after increasing the job result wait time using the option:Resource Manager Essentials -> Admin -> Config Mgmt -> Archive Mgmt ->Fetch Settings
We have configured only HTTPS credentials, because others are not permited, isn't it?
Telnet through port 22 works fine (i have read about https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3053616#3053616)

  • Config archive of Cisco 4404/4402 WLC devices

    Hi,
I am currently having an issue backing up WLC devices in CiscoWorks LMS 3.2. i can see that from an inventory perspective they are discovered correctly. I have tested the credentials on the CLI and that works fine, but when doing a archive collection from the ciscoworks application it fails, stating that it is a timeout issue.
I have noticed that when trying to connect via the CLI using SSH example below, it does not just prompt for a password, it prompts for the username again, i am not sure if this is the issue
    ssh -l test 10.1.2.3
Any assistance will be much appreciated
    Kind Regards
    James

  • Cisco 4404 WLC causing a DOS attack several times a day

    Hi Everyone
Excuse if this is a duplicate post, but I have searched the forums, but no joy. I also posted it in wireless security as this is where I felt it fits.
    Anyway onto my issue:
I manage a CISCO 4404 WLC with about 46 access points across our WAN. System works very well, serving trusted users, guests etc very well.
However, over the last month or two we have had an issue where we have had high load on our WAN.
We have traced this down to the CISCO 4404, about 3-4 times a day, the controller connects to every access point and transmits about 5-8mb of data on port 5427. This in itself would not be a problem, but it connects to all 46 at the same time.
    Yes, 46 x 5mb = no WAN for about 2-5 minutes.
    ARGH!
So can anyone sugest where I start to look? I am happy to post configs etc. Firmware 7.0.230
    Cheers

    Hi Steve
Yes it is the capwap port. The remote access points are in hreap mode and servicing trusted network access (802.1x) and guest access  is tunnelled across the wan with local breakout from the 4404 via a dedicated vlan. The guest wireless is wpa2.
As the traffic originates from the 4404 and goes to all access points we don't believe it is a network breach. I always hate the phrase "it affects everyone", it usually does not, however in this instance the packeteer shows it does connect to every access point.
DNS is also configured so when new access points are connected they get auto join and get a base configuration.
This issue has been going on since at least Christmas and we put a packeteer box between our wan and our local network. We can say it is the 4404.

  • Power adapter for cisco 2504 WLC

    Hi all ,
Is there any other part numbers for cisco 2504 WLC power adpater other than
    PWR-2504-AC= ?
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Vijay.

No "PWR-2504-AC=" is the only power adapter option for 2504.
    Please check the datasheet:-

  • Need MIBs for Cisco 2500 Series WLC

    Hi,
I need the MIBs for Cisco 2500 WLC.
I have it for 5508 WLC. Does it works same for 2500 WLC too ?
    Regards

they should be very similar.  There would be more trees available for the 5508 over the 2504.
You can get the MIBS for the 2504 from the Software downloads section of CCO.

  • SNMP traps from Cisco 4404

I have a Cisco 4404 WLC that sends its system logs to a syslog server (kiwicat), but I'm interested in getting the snmp traps sent over there as well.  I've configured the syslog server to accept the snmp on the right ports and I've confirmed that the syslog server can receive then by sending traps manually from other devices.
I cannot seem to actually get the WLC to send the traps to the server.  the syslog stuff gets through ok, but not the snmp.  I've added the syslog server as an SNMP trap reciever and configured it as much as it needs to be and the only difference it seems to have made is to add more things to the main trap log on the 'monitor' tab on the WLC.  Am i missing something really basic?
p.s. the WLC and the syslog server are separated by a firewall, but the syslog rules have been altered to also allow the snmp, should it attempt to go through.
Any help would be gratefully received.

Yes, I think the Network Devices need to be discovered first in order to receive traps and generate alerts.

  • Call manager and rme config archive report

    Hi,
I know that rme does not support the call manager for config archive. It is clear.
The RME home page show config archive status for failed devices and there are some devices which are not supported by RME config archive.
I've set this devices to suspended state in RME but config archiv is trying with this devices also.
This is a financial costumer and the local Financial supervisory authority would like to see all devices config is saving successfully.
How can i exclude the call manager and similar devices from config archiv process and status reports?
    Regards,

    Hi,
I would like to qoute from RME help.
    Working With Suspended Devices
Suspended device state cannot participate in any RME application flows but all historical data pertaining to the device will continue to be maintained by RME.
Nevertheless the RME is trying to fetch the config from suspended devices!!!
What is the truth in this thing?
    Regards,

  • Cisco Nexus 5548 device

    Hi,
Can you please let me know how to get (command) Manufacture date for Cisco Nexus 5548 device.
    Appreciate your support.
    Thanks,
    Brahma

    Hi Brahma,
I dont believe there is a command which would give you the Manufacture date directly, however there is an old theory which speaks about decoding the date of manufacture from the serial number.
    Excerpt is as captured below:-
The date code is built into the serial number. The format is LLLYYWWSSSS, where:
LLL is the location at which the unit was built.
YY is the year that the unit was built (1997=01, 1998=02, 1999=03, 2000=04).
WW is the work week of the year that the unit was built.
    SSSS is the serial number.
Else the account rep would be able to give more details by backtracking the serial number to the inventory.

  • Cisco Prime 2.2 Config Archive get Partial-Success

    Good morning everyone!
I have a question regarding Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2 and Config Archive. Im trying to backup a configuration for an old WS-CBS3020-HPQ blade with IOS version 12.2(58)SE1 and im getting an error under "Fetch vlan" that says :
Couldn't able to collect VLAN on the device. TFTP server not accessible from device.
Im not sure what this means? It gets partial-success, but the error message worries me. Im not able to find anything in the logs or by searching for the error code. Anyone have any idea where to look? The credential is correct, i tripple checked :)

I tried using the "tftp-server flash:" command, but didnt help. Im also seeing this problem with a couple of Cisco 3750x switches.

Added all devices via Bulk Import (Inventory>Device Management>Network Devices)
    Problem 1:
The Cisco 5500 WLCs are not listed in Inventory>Device Management>Network Devices (see screen shot) but listed under "All Devices"!
The Cisco 4400 WLCs and the 8500 WLCs are listed within their subgroup.
    Devices are in "Managed State"
    Problem 2: fixed! (Browser issue)
    Problem 3:
Unable to run "Wired Detailed Device Inventory" report because I get the error message: Failed to run report: Unable to retrieve data for: Chassis Information (if Chassis Information is selected, if System Information is selected I get the error message with ...retrieve data for:System Information)
All devices do have an "Admin Status = Managed" and the Last Inventory Collections Status = Completed.
Has anyone the same issues or a tip for me?
Another topic, the "User Defined Fileds" are not exported when with running a "Device Export" (Inventory > Device Management > Network Devices). ;-(

    Hallo Bastian,
I think you still have browser issue, Using IE is still the best with Prime.
I have exactly same prime 2.2 and installed fixes/software/device packs.
I have no problem I can see all views. I use now IE 11, with Chrome 42.0.2311.90 and firefox 37.01 I have problems too with lots of views. You have not tell what browser + version you have.
Since you have same prime 2.2 as me. I have other problems, can you check yours?

  • How to import config from 4404 WLC to WLC 5508

    Hi all
In one week I need to import the config from my 4404 WLC to my new 5508, then I just want to change the mgnt IP address of the 5508 and then bring it into the same mobility group.
How do I import the config when the 5508 is straight out of the box?
    Many thanks
    Carl

    Heck!!!!
This is unfortunately correct as per the doc you provided! :-(
I am already aware that there are some commands and features differs among different platforms but I thought Cisco passed this barrier by making WLC platform chooses appropriate commands from config file and ignore commands that does not suite importing platform!! but it does not seem to be correct!!!!!
I think if backup config file has only features that another platform support then config restore would possibly work.
But if config file has commands that considered unknown to the importing platform then here the problem may reside!
Surendra: do you know what are the consequences of doing this unsupported scenario of moving backup config amont different platforms?
I think Carl can try restoration process anyway and if does not work he can go to manual configuraiton then. But he is still have the chance of getting the config restored correctly.

  • Cisco 5508-WLC using MS NPS as RADIUS Server for EAP-TLS

Has anyone experienced a problem getting a Cisco WLC to work with MS NPS server? We've done it before albeit with differnt code versions.
I have a Cisco 5508 WLC running 7.0.116.0 code hosting a WLAN configured for WPA2 with 802.1x for authentication.  I have two Windows NPS servers configured as the RADIUS servers for EAP-TLS authentication. Via debug info on the WLC I can see the 802.1x handshake take place with the wireless client and the WLC as well as a successful transmission of an Authentication Packet from the WLC to one of the RADIUS servers. However on the WLC I see repeated RADIUS server x.x.x.x:1812 deactivated in global list and on the NPS server I'm seeing event log errors indicating "The Network Policy Server discarded the request for a user"  along with the pertinent auth request info that I would expect the NPS server to receive from the WLC.
Based on the WLC debug info I'm never actually getting to the EAP-TLS certificate authentication part. It seems the NPS servers don't like the format of the initial RADIUS authentication request coming from the WLC and so don't respond whcih in turn casues to WLC to switch to the other NPS server which produces the same issue.
Any ideas of what might be the issue or misconfiguration?

    Jim,
I wanted to know if you can setup wireshark on both of the boxes and see if your are hitting the following bug:
    http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCti91044
It looks as if the WLC is retransmitting the client traffic from one radius session with primary over to the secondary in which the radius state attribute that was assigned from the primary server is probably hitting the secondary server. Therefore if the state attribute isnt assigned from the secondary server it will discard the packet.
May need to open a TAC case to see if this issue is on the 550x controllers also.
    Thanks,
    Tarik

  • Is it recommend to have a vulnerability scan for Cisco ASA device.

    Dear everyone.
I have a doubt on vulnerability scan for Cisco ASA device. Currently we have a vulnerability for network devices include firewall. But after run the vulnerability scan for cisco ASA, found nothing show in the scan report.
Is it recommend to have a vulnerability scan for Cisco ASA and will it be defeat the purpose of firewall?

Do I understand are you asking can you configure the ASA to allow an external user run a scan against the internal network?
If so, the answer is generally no. The ASA will, by default, not allow any inbound connections (or attempted connections) that are not explicitly allowed in an inbound access-list (applied to the outside interface). In most cases there would also need to be network address translation (NAT) rules configured.
If you had a remote access VPN, you could allow the external scanner to log in via that, Then they would then have the necessary access to scan the internal systems (assuming the VPN granted access to all the internal networks)
