Config. recommended for MDS9216 and WAAS 7341

Hello,
i am testing for a customer datacenter replication with 2 MDS 9216i with Hitachi storage in each site. A WAN emulated with WAN BRIDGE with 155MB and delay 220ms. I have WAAS in each site.
Can you tell me the best recommendation to achieve the best performance ?? i am using WAAS in replication-acceleration mode.
Thanks and regards.
Leo.

Thanks so much for your response.
yes, i am using 2 7341 with inline card from demo depot.un fortunally one 7341 has hardware problem then we are replace it by a 7326. we change to application acceleration with software version 4.1.3.b
i think the waas is working goog but my customer need more performance. we are using WAN-BRIDGE to emulate 155 mbps with 220 ms delay and we found that his performance goes down each day needing reboot.
Do you know any other application to emulate the wan ?
thanks so much again.
Leo.

how many GB are recommended for downloading and watching movies on an ipad?

I agree. With a 16 gig you'll find that you only have room for a couple of movies once the operating system and any other apps take up their space.
The other alternative would be to look into something like a wireless harddrive, where you can store your movies and stream them to your iPad via an app. However if you're purchasing content from iTunes that may/may not work. So if you consider that you may want to dig a little deeper and make sure it'll do what you want it to do.

  • Recommendations for USB and FireWire Card

    Hi -
I am looking for recommendations for a USB 2.0 expansion card, and a Firewire expansion card for the
    Mac Pro.
    Thanks,
    Dan Powers

The Sonnet PCI USB Express cards have this problem too - for the record. Sonnet know about the MacPro not waking with it installed, as do Apple. I am sure Apple willl come up with something, I may even find a workaround, but it has always seemed that expansion cards with all my Macs [ waaaay too many] have produced unpredicatable problems.

  • XSLT and XQuery recommendation for BPEL and OSB

    Hi,
    1. Why is XQuery recommeded for OSB and XSLT for BPEL. Are there any specific performance optimization reason behind this.
    2. Apart from OSB and BPEL, both XSLT and XQuery has xml transformation options and creating HTML. What is the difference between these two.
    Thanks in advance!

you can create the graphical view of Xquery in Eclipse but not for XSLT
Xquery is much faster than XSLT in OSB.
Through XSLT however you can achieve more complex transformation.
OSB has its historic origins in BEA Aqalogic stable and so Xquery was widely used used even though XSLT is supported. It is a matter of choice(your standards in your organization, your developer skillsets, your re-usable libraries etc )
In Jdeveloper you can develop xslt in graphical mode though and attain complex transformation

  • UNDO Management - Config changes for OLTP and large background processes

    Hi,
I am running 9i on a 2 node RAC cluster - Sun Solaris.
    I use Automatic Undo.
The database is currently configured for OLTP and has 2 undo datafiles - 1GB in size and undo_retention set to default (900seconds)
I am about to start scheduling a batch job to run each night that will delete approx 1 million records each time it runs.
To get this to work without the dreaded Error -30036: ORA-30036: unable to extend segment by 8 in undo tablespace 'UNDO01', I have increased the undo datafiles to 5GB and the undo_retention to 4000.
The question is do I need to worry about switching between these settings - using the smaller values for daytime OLTP and the nighttime settings for the heavy processing?
What issues might I encounter if I just left the UNDO Management settings in place that I use for the large delete?

I would say no, leave the settings the highest level required to accomplish the work of the instance. Once the setting are correct for the instance, you should not have to change them around. They are really max setting for the heaviest load on your instance.

  • What photo album software do you recommend for CS4 and/or CS5?

I want to do pagination, design and layout in CS4 (multiple photos per page, text, etc.) to create printable albums. These albums could be either social event or documentary purposed.
Many such photo album software programs are proprietary which obliges you to use a specific printer or lab. Are there stand alone photo album software programs out there, CS4/5 which allow you to create photo albums and then print your own albums or use a vender of choice to print your albums?
I've seen everything from $29 thru $400, and some which are priced beyond $800.
What is your favorite photo album software for CS4 and/or CS5?
Thanks for any help you may provide.

It sounds like you are trying to create scrapbook pages ... if so then its quite easy just to create them yourself using Photoshop. You can purchase scrapbooking kits which will give you all the background papers and elements that you need to add to your page. There are also many free kits around ... a quick google search will show you lots of them
Sets of the pages can then be uploaded to sites that will print out a book ...

  • Need recommendation for hardware and software

    Hi all,
I am doing a project related to current control.
The purpose is to keep the current at constant. So I measure the current and get the value; and send a analog signal to tell our machine to discharge or to charge in order to keep the current at constant. I need to write the program to give analog signal to machine based on the current input.
Also, the machine can communicate with user. User can monitor the machine operation statuse and current level, etc.
I want to use LabView to program, since it doesn't cost a lot of time. I saw there is LabView RT LabView FPGA, etc. I am confused whether all of these are just diffrent function for LabView or different software. Which one I should use?
For hardware, I have no idea what is compactible with LabVeiw. What I should use?
I am totally new to this. I'll appreciate a lot if anyone can give suggestions.
    Thanks

I would recommend having a look at the C-Series Modules. You can then either use the USB Single Module Carrier, Wi-Fi Single Module Carrier, the CompactDAQ platform or the CompactRIO platform. Here is a page that gives a detailed explanation:
    C Series Hardware
For your application, you will definitely need LabVIEW. If you decide to go with the cRIO platform, then you will need LabVIEW RT. If you have any questions after reading through, please ask.

Dieter@be wrote:Allright, glad you like it.  About vicious-git not properly getting installed, maybe it is not included in the repository you specified?
vicious-git isn't in any repository, I download it from AUR. It gets properly downloaded and uncompressed, but the chroot doesn't, fails with a 'cannot execute cd : no such file or directory' Once i've got some spare time this afternoon (still early in the morning over here ) I'll try to find out why
By the way, is there any functionality in AIF to execute a worker in a chroot on the target system ? I looked quickly through the list of workers in the automatic procedures and didn't see anything specific. Although I can configure most stuff from the configure_system worker, there are a few things where you really need to be running inside the system to configure. For example : you need to have the mysql daemon started if you want to change the password, and you need to be chrooted if you want to have all the dependencies when building a PKGBUILD If not, I was thinking of generating a bash script that would contain all my chrooted stuff, so I would only need to execute chroot once in the worker.

  • Any Recommendation for storing and searching metadata

    Hi all,
We upload images to the DB and extract the DICOM, IPTC, XMP and EXIF fields in the DB as xmltypes. This works good.
Now I am wondering what the recommended way is to make these fields searchabe by the user. I have tried to create an index over those fields, which works ok, but updating them when images are uploaded or removed takes a long time (with jobs).
Also we need to write those fields back to the image. I read the reference and saw that the example suggest to write a new XML file and then write this back to the image. I only saw the example with XMP, but I guess I can do that with IPTC too, or? If so any examples? Our application allows the user to edit and add new keywords and those fields need to be stored back to the image.
    TIA for any answers.

OK, we only support replacing Metadata in XMP format.
Also, we do not support replacing metadata with DICOM medical images.
Do you have a write up of your application? If we onderstood what you were trying to do, we would be in a better position to make recommendations, like what kind of indexing to use. If possible, you could send it to me at [email protected]
If you have interMedia requirements, send them to [email protected]

  • Recommendations for IFRS and OFRS

Are there any recommendations / best practices for the location of the Input File Repository Server and Output File Repository Server ?
    To be more concrete :
    - location of the root directory : local to the server ? on a SAN ?
    - structure of the disk : FAT32 ? NTFS ?
    - any limitation on the number of subdirectories ?
(BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 on Windows 2003)

Every option you listed should be fine, but there have been known issues with some SAN configurations in the past. I don't work in this area and can't erlaborate on the details. You can try a notes search for FRS/SAN or open a case with support (deployment to start). There may be more specific issues with webi and SANs as well (so check with the webi team if using it).

  • Call for Recommendations for Database and Joystick

Can you please recommend a database product for Mac? I know about FileMaker but I was hoping for something less expensive with a good GUI front end. I use MySQL at work and am not happy with the GUI tools for MySQL.
Can you also please recommend a good joystick to use for XPlane 8?
    Thanks!

FileMaker is the best option if you want a good GUI front end. It's not free like MySQL but the price is worth it.

  • Hardware configuration recommendations for database and VM work

I'm looking for advice on system configuration for a computer to use at work for database, VM, and number-crunching applications. The database work will involve complex SQL queries against MySQL databases in the 5–50 GB range. I'll be using the computer for a variety of projects, and I'd like to configure and run Linux VMs on a per-project basis. The number-crunching will involve engineering applications, most of which will likely run in Linux. The database tables might be accessed from OS X or a Linux VM; I'm not sure at this point.
Advice or recommended reading on internal RAID, SAS, Fibre Channel, and the like would be appreciated. Would it make sense to have a large SATA boot drive that stores the VM and a second high-throughput drive array for the database tables? If so, what are some good options for configuring the latter? Staying in the $5k–$7k range would be nice.
    Thanks,
    Andreas
