Config Tool connection error

Hi
I have created a system migration copy of an NW04 XI system running on Windows 32 bit migrated to Windows 64 bit, the system starts ok and works fine, but when I try and connect to the config tool to set 64 bit Java parameters by the default settings I get the error 'error while connecting to the DB' and it just shows me the secure store settings when it fails.
The config tool works ok in the source system of the copy, so i'm guessing its a user/password problem? when I do not use the default settings I get quite a few settings for logon via secure store or direct logon, is there an OSS note where you can work out what these values should be so I can check them? I cannot find an OSS note with these details.
Thanks.

Hi Manoj
Thanks for the response.
The SID has not been changed during the migration, I have retained the same SID name, only the server has changed. I am performing test migrations as we are planning to migrate our landscape from Windows 32 bit to Windows 64 bit, so we will be using 'staging' servers during the migrations as the 64 bit OS will need to be installed on our original servers before we can migrate back.
The config.properties file does contain the correct SID.
Paul.

    Hello Balaji,
    The ClassNotFoundError is complaining about class Base64.  This class is part of the util.jar library which can be found in the following location:
    ./j2ee/configtool/lib/util.jar
    Please verify that this library file is present.  If it is, please verify that the file is not corrupt by executing the following command:
    jar -tvf util.jar
    With the above command you should see the contents of the archive.   One of the classes should be Base64.class.
    If necessary you can redeploy the configtool.sda archive which is located under
    .\SDM\root\origin\sap.com\com.sap.engine.configtool\SAP AG\<#>\<version_info>\configtool.sda.
    Use SDM to redeploy the archive using option 'Update SCAs/SDAs that have any version' under the deploy tab.
    Regards,
    Nathan

  • Error starting the Config Tool with NW04s Sneak Preview

    All...
    I am running the Java NW04s Sneak Preview (SP9).
    When I try to start the config tool, I get the following error on the dos session
    <b>The system cannot find the path specified.
    Program terminated abnormally
    Press any key to continue...</b>
    I realize that this is probably a very simple problem to fix... so can anyone tell me how?
    Also... when I log on to the Visual Administrator or the NetWeaver Administrator, I cannot edit any parameters.  I have tried logging in as "Administrator" and as "admin".  Is the Sneak Preview locked out, or am I doing something wrong?
    Regards

    Srikishan --
    I did check the bat file, and it says:
    %JAVA_CMD% -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true -Duser.language=en -classpath .\lib\launcher.jar;. com.sap.engine.offline.OfflineToolStart com.sap.engine.configtool.visual.ConfigTool ./lib/
    where JAVA_CMD should equal %JAVA_HOME%\bin\java.
    I have JAVA_HOME set in my environment variables.
    I did a "set" command in DOS to check, and it is there.

  • Config tool error

    Hi Experts,
    I trying to logon to config tool with default logon settings in order to change some parameters. But, I am getting the popup window "Error ocurred while working with Configuration (scanning). Msg: error whle connecting to DB".
    See in attachment.
    Any ideas, please?
    Thank you in advance for your efforts.
    Best regards,
    Sreenu

    The problem is shown in the dev_server0 trace:
    Error occurred during initialization of VM
    Could not reserve enough space for object heap
    I can see that you have your heap size set at 2 GB:
    -> heap size
    : 2048M
    -> init heap size
    : 2048M
    -> arg[ 31]: -Dmemory.manager=2048M
    -> arg[ 32]: -Xmx2048M
    -> arg[ 33]: -Xms2048M
    And that this is using SAPJVM 4.1 on an x64 Windows platform. This should be just fine, a 2 GB heap on a 64-bit setup should be perfectly normal, but it appears that the VM is not finding enough free memory to create the 2 GB heap. Can you tell us a bit more about this system? How much physical memory does it have, and what is your pagefile size? Is it a central instance with both database and SAP system? Is it a Java-only stack, or is it by chance dual-stack? Is there only a single serverx node, or do you have multiple server nodes in the Java stack?
    Assuming the database is also on the same host, what is the DBMS, and what memory settings did you configure for it?
    Cheers,
    Matt

  • Unable to connect to config tool

    Hello,
    We are running a Netweaver 6.40 ABAP and JAVA system on the OS/400 and we are having trouble trying to connect to the config tool. We are getting an error that says "Error occurred while working with Configuration (Scanning). Msg: Error while connecting to DB."
    There is really nothing that sticks out in the system.log file.
    Has anyone ever seen this in the past?
    Thanks,
    Dale Dingmann

    Hi,
    Is your ABAP stack up and running? also please do a "r3trans -d" to see if it's successful or not.
    This error comes when the configtool is not able to connect to the database.
    Have you recently changed the database schema password? (e.g. if password of SAPSR3DB is changed this needs to be entered again in the configtool secure store and Java cluster needs to be restarted.) if this is the case, then mainitain the password and restart the cluster. (you can do it through SMICM)
    Please check the dev_disp, dev_jcontrol etc.. this might give us a clue.
    Thanks,
    Sushil

  • No route to host:connect -- error in the struts-config.xml file

    hi all,
    acutally am doing a struts application in that i have written everything properly
    but getting this kinda no route to host:connect error
    my struts-config.xml file is like this...
    <struts-config>
    <form-beans>
    <form-bean name="myForm" type="MyForm">
    </form-beans>
    <action-mappings>
    <action path="/action"
                   name="myForm"
                   type="MyAction"
                   scope="request"
                   validate="true" >
                   <forward name="success" path="/success.jsp" />
                   <forward name="failure" path="/failure.jsp" />
         </action>
    </action-mappings>
    </struts-config>

    Hi Lee,
    I am working on Oracle ADF 10.1.2 and getting the same problem. The lines in my struts-config.xml are as below:
    <action path="/unitsView" className="oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataActionMapping" type="view.UnitsViewAction" name="DataForm" parameter="/unitsView.uix" unknown="false">
    <set-property property="modelReference" value="unitsViewUIModel"/>
    <forward name="unitsEditLink" path="/unitsEdit.do"/>
    </action>
    <action path="/unitsView" className="oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataActionMapping" type="view.UnitsViewAction" name="DataForm" parameter="/unitsView.uix" unknown="false">
    <set-property property="modelReference" value="unitsViewUIModel"/>
    <forward name="unitsCreateLink" path="/unitsCreate.do"/>
    </action>
    I have two lines with [action path="/unitsView"]. The reason why is that I want the user to go to the form create screen for the create button and form edit screen for the edit button. If this does not work, it seems to mean that only a single screen can be used for create/edit functions. However, the ADF editor diagram looks perfectly to point to create.uix and edit.uix respectively.
    Please shed some light.
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Michael

  • Error Config tool

    Hi Experts!!!
    I have a problem, I am doing a Import Enterprise Portal, my problem is that when I open the config tool, it say:
    the system cannot find the path specified. Program terminated abnormally.
    My OS is Windows 2008 R2 with java 1.6 and the environment variables are correctly.
    any idea?
    thanks in advance

    Hii ALL,
    I encountered the same error. This is how I rectified.
    STEP 1: Go to (YOUR Installation Drive):\usr\sap\SID\DVEBMGS00\j2ee\configtool
    STEP 2: Right Click on ConfigTool.BAT (this is MS Dos Batch File) and select EDIT
    STEP 3 : You will find the following Line of code
    set JAVA_CMD="%JAVA_HOME%\bin\java"
    I've REPLACED JAVA_HOME directly with the content present in User variables of Environmental Variables without "bin" as bin is already present in the code as shown below.
    set JAVA_CMD="%D:\j2sdk1.4.2_12%\bin\java"
    STEP 4: Save and RUN the configtool by double clicking on it this should solve this error.

    This error may be due to following
    1) DB may not be running. So check that
    2) DB Configuration on WAS is not correct. Check userid/password
    Try login to DB using the SQL Client using following userid/password
    SAPJ2EDB/abcd1234 (if it's sneak preview version and you haven't changed the default passowrds.

    Regards,
    Mahesh.

    Hi,
    Please follow this steps:
    Creating RFC Destinations in the ABAP and Java Environment
    You need to create the following RFC destinations in transaction SM59 (ABAP) and the Visual Administrator (Java):
    u2022 AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER
    u2022 AI_DIRECTORY_JCOSERVER
    u2022 LCRSAPRFC
    u2022 SAPSLDAPI
    Depending on your client settings, it may be necessary to be logged on your SAP Exchange Infrastructure host as SAP system user with the authorization to maintain customizing tables and to release transport orders. Note, that user "SAP*" or "DDIC" does not have these authorizations.
    Maintaining the RFC Connections (Transaction SM59)
    1. Log on to your SAP Exchange Infrastructure central instance host.
    2. Call transaction SM59.
    3. Choose Create.
    4. Enter at least the following:
    RFC destination: AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER
    Connection type: T
    Description: <your description>
    5. Choose ENTER
    6. Choose the tab Technical settings and do the following:
    a. Select Registered Server Program
    b. In the Program ID field, enter: AI_RUNTIME_<SID> where <SID> is the SAP system ID of your Integration Server host. Use uppercase letters only.
    c. Enter Gateway host and Gateway service of your Integration Server host. To find out the required parameters:
    a. On the Integration Server host, call transaction SMGW
    b. Choose Goto u2192 Parameters u2192 Display (see entries for gateway hostname and gateway service)
    7. Choose tab Special Options and select the flag Unicode in the box Character Width in Target System.
    8. Save your settings.
    9. Repeat the steps 3 u2013 8 for the remaining destinations:
    Destination
    Values
    AI_DIRECTORY_JCOSERVER
    Program ID: AI_DIRECTORY_<SID>, where <SID> is the SAP system ID of your SAP XI host
    LCRSAPRFC
    Program ID: LCRSAPRFC_<SID>, where <SID> is the SAP system ID of your SAP XI host.
    SAPSLDAPI
    Program ID: SAPSLDAPI_<SID>, where <SID> is the SAP system ID of your SAP XI host.
    10. Leave the transaction SM59 open for later tests.
    J2EE Configuration for the Destinations (Visual Administrator)
    1. On your SAP Exchange Infrastructure central instance host, start the J2EE Engine administration tool.
    2. Choose Cluster u2192 Server u2192 Services u2192 JCo RFC Provider
    3. In the section RFC destination, enter exactly the same program ID and gateway options for AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER that you used in the step Maintaining the RFC connection above. Additionally, set the number of processes to 10.
    4. In the section Repository, do the following:
    a. Enter the parameter for the SAP XI host: Application Server, System Number, Client and Language.
    b. For User and Password maintain the login parameters for the user SAPJSF.
    c. Select the flag Unicode.
    6. Choose Set.
    7. Repeat the steps 3 u2013 6 for the remaining destinations:
    Destination
    Values
    AI_DIRECTORY_JCOSERVER
    u2022 Corresponding values from SM59
    u2022 Number of processes: 10
    LCRSAPRFC
    u2022 Corresponding values from SM59
    u2022 Number of processes: 3
    SAPSLDAPI
    u2022 Corresponding values from SM59
    u2022 Number of processes: 3
    Testing the RFC Destination
    After you have maintained all RFC destinations in both the ABAP and Java environment, you can check all the connections above as follows:
    1. Call transaction SM59 again.
    2. Open your RFC destination.
    3. Choose Test Connection. No error should be displayed.
    This will solve your problem.
    Thanks
    Laxmi Bhushan
