Configing Windows pcs with bonjour for network printing help

bonjour downloads and installs correctly
runs setup fine, double click icon
bonjour for windows connects and see the printers
printers install drivers sucessfully
when doing test page thru windows printer configuration
-it then outputs code below example, (not exactly the same)
≈$└24ü≤$5≈$└24ü≤$5≈$└24ü≤$5≈$└24ü≤$5 etc. etc.
computers are windows xp pro sp2 trying to connect and printer.

Are the printers connected to Macs, is so you need to use a postscript driver rather than the actual Windows printer driver.
So if you have a black and white printer, you should use the Apple Laserwriter driver.
If the printer attached is a colour printer use the Apple Color Laserwriter driver regardless of which printer you actually have.

  • Fault tolerance for network printing

What options are available to provide fault tolerance for network printing?  Currently, all our shared printers are on ServerA.  Is it possible to have similar shared printers on ServerB and have the clients automatically switch to Server B if
Server A became unavailable?  We don't care about load balancing as much as fault tolerance.  Thanks to all who post!

    A failover cluster node ? (not in nlb;
Servers in a Network Load Balancing (NLB) failover cluster cannot be used as print servers in Windows Server 2008 )
For environments that require high availability, you can use a failover cluster as a print server.  If a node in the cluster fails, all print functionality will fail over to the next node in the cluster.  To improve failover times, we recommend
that the administrator for the cluster force failover to each node when new print drivers are installed on the server.  During a failover, the driver installation is forced to occur on the active node.  The installation of the driver on each node
can require several minutes. Forcing this installation process during maintenance will make sure that any unplanned failovers during usual operation will be very quick, because the drivers will already be installed on each node.

You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.

You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.

    Thank you guys
    Hola:

What model and firmware is the 2TB TC?
    What firmware is the AE?
Does the AE get good signal from the TC in its current location?
Signal can only be extended that is received intact.
Is it extending on 5ghz? As I remember it a Gen2 AE is only single band, although you can choose either 2.4ghz or 5ghz.
I am fairly sure you are going to tell me your TC is AC model..
I would do a couple of things..
    1. Fix the wireless name, make it short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
    2. Fix the wireless channel for 2.4ghz so it is not going to jump around.
    3. Get real results from the AE in its current location for signal strength.. this is really only possible on v5 utility. And that is a double pain with Mavericks because you cannot use it.
Apple have removed all the useful diagnostics from the airport utility. There is next to nothing left. So you need to use the computer and its diagnostics to find signal levels in the location.

  • Solution for Windows 7 all-in-one network printer won't print

It took all morning to resolve an issue that came up with my HP printer not printing today after working fine for 2 1/2 months. The problem was that the printer would queue the job, but then I would get a print error. The printer started out as offline, and it showed ready after I downloaded the HP troubleshooting utility, which said that everthing was fine, even it it wasn't.  I tried every solution out there, including reinstalling drivers and restarting the printer, computer and router several times and unchecking boxes.  I finally googled the exact error message I got (you have to type next several times after the "Windows can't fix this problem" message to get it.  It said something about the printer not being able to find the network - unfortunately I didn't copy the exact wording. This finally got me to a website that suggested that Norton security would be the problem.  My computer is new, and it is running Window 7 Professional 64-bit and Norton hasn't been a problem so far on it (though I heard horror stories that Norton can cause a lot of problems in the past).  The instructions said to reset the Norton internet firewall to the default settings, restart the printer, and thankfully everything was back in business.  I don't know why everything was working fine one day, and then suddenly the next morning it isn't working.  I hope that others with the same problem will find this solution can help them.

    Hi FGG,
I understand you're missing a driver for your Officejet Pro 8500 printer. I'd be happy to help you with this!
If you click here you can download the full software package for your printer, including the drivers. Just click next when the page loads (it should be able to detect your operating system) and then scroll down to where it says Driver - Product Installation Software, and proceed to download the HP Officejet Pro Full Feature Software and Driver. I recommend saving it to your computer to make things easier as well.
If this was not what you're looking for please let me know more specifically what the issue is.
Hope this helps, have a great day!

  • How do I solve connection problems with Windows-PCs on a AirPort network?

I have a AirPort network with 1 AP Extreme (dual band)  in bridge modeextended with two dualband AP Express and one 1st gen. AP Express. With only Macs all computers connect without problem, but when introducing PCs running Windows (7 or 8) on my wireless network both Windows and Macs often get problems getting an IP-adress from my router. When resetting my router problem is solved for a while.
    Anyone with a solution?

You're going to have to be more specific with the issues, errors and diagnostic messages that you are encountering, and what particular configuration you are seeing to establish.
Screen sharing is available from Mac to Mac, and from Windows once you load a VNC client on the Windows box such as TightVNC or some other VNC client, and configure and connect it.
Here are some notes on getting Windows file clients to connect to a Mac OS X Server SMB Samba file server; you have to drop some of the Windows security requirements to allow it to connect to the Mac OS X Server box.
Microsoft Office Outlook isn't traditionally used with mail servers other than Microsoft Exchange Server.  (While Outlook was good with Exchange Server and has likely gotten better over the years, it was classically rather poor when working with SMTP servers.)  More commonly, Outlook Express (and now called Windows Mail) is used for this, or Mozilla Thunderbird, or another SMTP-capable mail client.
One of the first things you will want to ensure here is correct and functional DNS on your LAN; other services are entirely dependent on DNS, and your ISP DNS cannot provide valid DNS for a LAN behind a NAT device.  Launch Terminal.app and issue the command sudo changeip -checkhostname and see if you get an indication that DNS is correct and no changes are required, or that there are DNS errors.  (You will need to enter an administrative password for the sudo command to be accepted.)
To connect and use a mail server on the Internet, you'll need to have a public static IP address and a correct public DNS configuration, or (far less desirably, and rather more complex) a way to tunnel from a non-static IP address over to a mail gateway service of some sort.  Having static IP and correct DNS is the usual approach.

  • How can I print from a Windows PC to an AppleTalk networked printer?

I have a Windows Dell laptop (NT w/SP 2) that normally prints on a Windows network at my office.
At home, I have an AppleTalk network that includes a cable modem, router, various Macs connected by either Ethernet or wireless, and an HP 2100TN printer connected to that router via Ethernet. My AirPort Extreme also connects to that hub, so the network is a combination of Ethernet wired and wireless devices. When I connect the Windows laptop to this network (either wirelessly or by Ethernet), it cannot find the printer (although I am able to get to the Internet). I've tried to install Bonjour (Bonjour64Setup.exe) on the Windows machine, but it refuses (comes back with a message saying that "Bonjour is not a valid Win32 application").
I am trying to find out how to get the Windows laptop to find and use the HP networked printer.

Thanks for the various suggestions (the successful one was the HP Wizard).
I couldn't find the IP address of the printer (the test page-- when printed directly from the printer-- does not show the IP address, nor does System Profiler), and the method used for the Airport Extreme USB printer was not necessary (although that may come in handy, some day).
I downloaded the HP Network Printer Wizard which made the whole process fairly easy and worked. The HP Wizard found the printer and got the printer up on the Windows printer list. It really didn't need for me to give it the IP address (it found it on its own).
    Thanks.

  • Xerox workcentre 7225 print driver fails while searching for networked printer

HelloJoe,Thanks - So I took those steps and the printer is created as a local printer using a TCP/IP port with the proper IP address for that printer. It appears I can get to its property pages. But when I try to print, the job goes to the queue and it just hangs eventually timing out and it shows error for printing that document... I can ping the IP adddress from the PC and it returns pings. ?

This unit is working fine from several other PCs, WIN 7 and WIN XP, in the building. Installing on a WIN7 64 bit PC. During the installation it starts to look for the networked printer and stops, posting the message -  [ Xerox windows common installer has stopped ] , then installer just hangs. I have uninstalled and tried the following versions with the same error -  Date: 2 Jun, 2014Version: 5.351.8.0.0Size: 17.7 MBFormat: EXEand tried  Global Print driver  Date: 15 Dec, 2014Version: 5.404.8.0Format: WWW NOTE - I even tried a manual driver installation which appears to work but the printer fails to print - returning a print error and cancels the job. Help,Jim

  • Windows 7 computers asking for network password to access shared files and printers on Windows XP PRO computer.

I have a network of 10 computers configured as peer-to-peer work group. I have upgraded one of the ten from Windows XP PRO to Windows 7 PRO. The other nine computers are all running XP PRO. AS near as I can tell they are all configured the same. I have the
same user and same passwords on all computers. One of XP computers is used as a print server. The Windows 7 computer initially was able to access shared files and printers on all XP machines with out requesting a network password.
Suddenly, the Win 7 computer began requesting a network password to access the shared files and printers on the XP print server. It will not accept any of the user names or passwords (all administrators on both machines with identical names and passwords.)
The Win 7 computer has no problem accessing the shared files on the other XP machines. It can even access shared printers in a different work group. Apparently something has changed but I'm at my wits end trying to figure what changed on either the Windows
7 machine or the print server XP machine.
I would appreciate any help. Thank you

    Hi,
Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following:
    1.
Disable simple file sharing on the Windows XP computer:
How to disable simple file sharing and how to set
permissions on a shared folder in Windows XP
    2.
On the Windows 7 computer, go to “Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings” and ensure that the
    following items are turned ON:
    Network Discovery
    File and printer sharing
    And this one is OFF:
    Password protected sharing
    3.
Temporarily disable or remove all the security software (firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc.) on the computers and check if it works.
    In addition,
I would like to share the following with you for your reference:

  • Windows 8.1 Error for Dell Printer 1320c

I have a Dell 1320c printer which works fine with my Vista Laptop on an USB socket, as it is not networked.
I recently purchased an ASUS N550JV 64 bit Laptop with Windows 8.1, containing driver Dell 1320c HBP, which does not work with the printer using the USB socket and results in a flashing Tray 1 lamp.
I reviewed various blogs and other people were having the same issue and were suggesting using the Windows 7 driver.
The Dell website at URL http://www.dell.com/support/article/uk/en/ukbsdt1/SLN287168/EN states:
    Model Number
Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 Compatibility
    Windows 8.1 Web Package availability*
    Windows 8.1 drivers in CD**
Windows 8.1 drivers in OS or Windows Update***
    1320c
Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 Compatible
    To be released
    No
    Yes
I disconnected my printer then removed the driver Dell 1320c HBP from the Devices and Printers page.
The Microsoft website at URL http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/CompatCenter/ProductDetailsViewer?Name=Dell%201320c%20Laser%20Printer&vendor=Dell&Type=Hardware&tempOsid=Windows+8.1 states that Windows 8.1 is compatible with the printer and I downloaded driver folder 1320c_SSW_20090918 from this page.
I clicked the “Setup” “Application” for this including leaving the boxes ticked for options:
    Support Tools;
    Supplies Management System; and
    User’s Guide.
This resulted in only “Dell Supplies Management System” being installed so I am still unable to print.
I then tried “Add Printer” but a .inf file was not included in the downloaded zip.
What am I doing wrong and will be grateful for any help?.
    Kind regards
    Allan

  • I can't see my Windows PCs on my Airport network

I have recently setup my Time Capsule as my wireless router.  I have connected my MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and Windows Vista Home Edition to the wireless network and can access the internet fine.  I can also connect to my Seagate NAS from the Macs as well as from the Windows Vista machine.  My 2 Macs can "see" each other on the network and I can successfully connect to each.  I cannot "see" my Windows machine from my Macs, or my Macs from my Windows machines.
    Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help Tesserex. Ni was traveling last week and didn't have a chance to try your suggestion.  However, when I arrived home I was suddenly able to access all of my Mac and Windows PCs on the network again with full access to all of my shared files.
I didn't change any settings, it just started working.  Not sure if it took a while for the settings to propagate through my AirPort network, but it all seems to be working fine now.
Thanks again for trying to help.

  • Won't print information sheet for network printer

I have accessed my printer on two different computers wirelessly. I need a "printer code" for other devices, which apparently is printed on some "sheet"....which won't print. I get a message that "a web services information sheet will be printed...." but nothing ever comes out (but documents do so I know it works.)
How do I get this information sheet to actually print?

Thank you SO much for your quick response! I think it kept dropping the connection intermittently and screwed up the request to "enable" the network printing. (That was on the page where you enter the ip address in a webpage) so when I asked to print that info page, it just lost the request every time.
I did google around a little and reset the router and the printer by replugging in the printer. I also reset some automatic IP stuff  to manual setting (I am REALLY not familiar with this kind of thing...can you tell!? ha ha!!!)  Anyway, I followed the instructions for a different printer (with a similar connection issue) here on the hp site...the DNS thing seemed to make the difference:
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Networking-and-Wireless/HP-Photosmart-5510-Printer-Wireless-Net...
I hope other non-techies like me can follow those instructions too. That 8.8.8.8. and 8.8.4.4. stuff and the re-plugging in seemed to somehow make it work!
