ConfigMgr 2012 R2 Client Push Failing when InTune is Agent is Installed
Hello,
I am in the process of migrating the ConfigMgr client from 2007 to 2012 R2 using Client Push. On machines that have the 2007 client and InTune Agent installed, the 2012 Push is failing. The "Client deployment failure report" is stating
the Failure Description as "Windows Intune client is detected" and the Description Parameter is "5.0.7958.1000 Deployment Error x80004005".
Does anyone know if the ConfigMgr 2012 client can co-exist with the InTune Agent and if so, what is the process for performing the Client Installation.
Thanks
As far as I'm aware you can only uninstall Intune by
1. retiring the device through the Intune console
2. using a script. Download it here

3. Command line. See here

ConfigMgr 2012 R2 client on Windows 7 SP1 x86 causes "Program Compatibility Assistant" to appear
After I upgraded to R2 I am seeing the message below on newly installed Windows 7 SP1 x86 machines when I go to Control Panel and open the Configuration Manager Properties and then close it. This seems to only happen on 32-bit Win7 not on 64-bit.
I have created a new package for the client from definition and I also tried building new images using my Build and Capture task sequences. In this case I get the same message on the x86 Windows 7 SP1 machine if I log on after the Build & Capture is
done. My Build And Capture sequences uses the RTM-image for Windows 7 SP1 that has been patched using Offline Servicing.
Has anyone else seen this? Everything is working normally on the clients and if I click "This control panel works correctly" the message goes away. However, if I click "Open the control panel using recommended settings" that results in
admin-rights being required to open the Configuration Manager Properties under the Control Panel.
Regards,
CarlI just pinged the product team and they are not aware of this issue at all so please someone open a support case with CSS where the issue can be worked.

I'll be opening a support case first thing monday :)

Hi Tim
How did you go with this? We're still seeing this issue migrating Windows 7 x86 machines from the ConfigMgr 2007 SP2 R3/ConfigMgr 2012 client to the ConfigMgr 2012 R2 client in multiple environments.
Cheers
Sam
Ticket opened with Microsoft Support, still no fix but I will keep you all posted.

Novell GINA removed after R2 upgrade to ConfigMgr 2012 SP1 client
I am working with a customer and we just noticed an issue when upgrading some of their SCCM 2012 SP1 clients to R2. After the upgrade, everything appears to work fine, but as soon as a restart happens, the Novell GINA is replaced by the Windows GINA.
These machines were running Windows XP SP3 with Novell Client 4.91 SP5. This did not occur when installing the ConfigMgr 2012 SP1 client originally, but appears to happen every time when the ConfigMgr client is upgraded to R2. I wouldn't have
thought the ConfigMgr 2012 R2 client upgrade would have anything to do with the GINA, but we can replicate the issue.
It's not due to Windows Updates getting installed in the background while the client is temporarily unmanaged, which was my initial thought. We ensured the policy to disable Windows Updates was correctly in place and that no updates were installed.
The only fix so far is to completely remove the Novell client and reinstall it.
Has anyone else run in to this?
Thanks!Yes, I have seen this when we took over a group that had Novell. It was ConfigMgr 2007 at the time. We only had to keep Novell long enough to completely remove it later. So your process is correct.

ConfigMgr 2012 R2 Client Failes to Install on HP EliteBook laptops with Synaptics Touchpad drivers
I've come across a fairly frustrating issue that has been taking up way too much of my time that past week or so. The issue started a little after some of our larger sites were migrated from SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012. I started getting complaints that one of
our technical workstations (HP 8770w) was not deploying properly. I started investigating the issue and the problem involved the removal of the old ConfigMgr 2007 client and install of the new SCCM 2012 R2 client.
The Windows 7 x64 OS WIM that I am using is one that was migrated from the 07 to 2012 environment and it has been working fine. During the Setup Windows and ConfigMgr step the old client is removed and the new one for the 2012 environment installs. There
has not been any issues with this, but I feel something has changed now that we are deploying the 2012 R2 client.
Back to the issue, what happens is that the ConfigMgr client fails to uninstall the old client. Looking in the client.msi_uninstall file you will see that it is unable to locate a couple of SCCM 2007 configmgr client patches that were installed so it can
uninstall it. I get the "Couldn't find local patch ''. Looking for it at its source." line in the uninstall file. When I look for that under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Patches the ENTIRE directory structure is empty. There is not a single item
listed under patches.
Since the only thing that happens in between the pushing down of the WIM and installing the configmgr client is the drivers that is where I started to look. I started over with the basics (disk and network driver) and it was able to complete the OSD process
(like the other 30+ models we currently support). I added drivers one by one having the system re-image each time. When I got to the Synaptics TouchPad drivers the issue would return. I've tried around 5 different drivers offered from the vendor and they
all result in the same behavior.
I'm still actively troubleshooting how to FIX this issue, but I have no idea why this is going on. I thought I would share with the community on this issue and see if anyone else has observed this VERY odd behavior.

I've not used the tool. This issue has also expanded since the original title as I'm getting the same behavior with the driver package that does not include the Touchpad driver anymore. I'm currently going back to just the network and storage driver to see
if it works or not.
However, this is the bigger issue I have:
I have an older build called Build 5.7 internally. Using that WIM and the same driver package (original one that has the Touchpad driver included) it works without issue. Never had a problem.
The new build is called Build 6.0 internally. This WIM and the same driver package has not been working at all.
We support about 35 models with our current Windows 7 x64 image and I am having the same failure issue on four different HP models. They are the 8770w, ZBook 17, Z600 and Z820. The majority of the other systems are Dell devices. Just for transparency sakes,
nothing Dell specific is in the core WIM that is captured.
So, Build 5.7 can deploy just fine on all pieces of hardware with their old driver packages. The new Build 6.0 intalls on almost every platform fine with their old driver packages. These four HP systems are nothing but trouble though. I've opened a case
with HP to see if they have noticed anything internally. I'm not too hopeful, but at least it is something. Maybe there is some odd conflict with a newer Windows patch or some odd dependency on older HP drivers. The new image has .NET 4.5.1, IE 10 and so forth. -

Hi
I have a SCCM 2012 RTM installed in my network and before it was working fine and successfully installed clients by Client push method
Now I added another forest and successfully discovered all computers in the second forest able push client and successfully installed
Now my problem is , all client computer's in the first forest activity showing "active" and recieves updates from server without any issue. But I could not push the client installation to new computers on the first forest (active directory). While
monitor the ccmsetup.log file on each new computer the installation get stuck on BITS download
I am not saying , this is server configuration problem because when I push the client installation to the computers on second forest, the package downloaded successfully and client and SCEP installed successfully
I checked and double checked the boundary settings and DP and it was exactly same as the second boundary
I removed the boundary, boundary group and site system for the problematic computers and recreated everything as it is
But no luck still I am recieving the same status on the ccmsetup.log
please help me because I have been playing with this issue for the last one weekDear Mr Jason,
I have prepared a new laptop with windows 7 and SP1 and joined to domain
In sccm server manually run the AD system Discovery and after a while the new computer appeared on the corresponding collection
I initiated the client pushing on 6.00 PM evening and leave the laptop online (turned off computer sleep settings)
Today morning when I checked only 4 files in c:\Windows\ccmsetup folder and I checked the log.
Later I ran the same command
\\SCCMSERVER\XXX_Package\Client\ccmsetup.exe SMSSITECODE=XXX
SMSSLP=SCCMSERVER
Then
client and SCEP installed successfully within 20 minutes
How
can I find which policy or which settings block the client pushing? Do I need to check any other log file in server ?

Help needed with server essentials 2012 R2 client backup failing
Help please. I have installed WSE 2012 R2 on a new Lenovo TS140, everything seems to be working fine (I can map drives, browse folders, copy files back and forth to clients, run the server through dashboard from a client,
run the server through remote desktop from a client, use remotewebaccess etc. But I can't get ANY of my clients to backup to the server. The connector finds the server, installs on the client and the launchpad runs and says 'connected to server',
but when I try to run the backup, it fails after about 30 seconds and says "can't connect to server"... This is all the same on clients that are Win 7 Home, Win 7 Pro, Win 8.1 pro and win 8.1 home, wired and wireless... Have spent about
a week researching, clean reinstalling, examining router config etc... no luck. Any thoughts or direction for help appreciated. I'm not using storage spaces, and have run drive scans which all show healthy drives (1 SDD - OS, and separate HDs for
files and backups...Status is 'no backups available', and no indication of anywhere to check to start, configure or set a backup. Though I do have the "client computer backup tasks" available over in the tasks panel on the right, but that just sets times for backups to
occur.
The system is backing itself up nightly, but no clients.
I have a bunch of things listed on the BPA (probably as I did some tinkering based on other suggestions, and have tried to set up openDNS forwarding etc. I'm not sure how to undo all that, so if a clean install would help I could do that rather
easily..) BPA partial results listed below...

Configuration Manager 2012 R2 client push generator no site code
I am attempting to use the ClientPush Generator.Exe to manual push clients. When I start the program, I do not have a Site Code listed in the drop down box. I only have one site, but it is not listed. Any suggestions please?
Thank you for the response. I am running the app from the correct location logged into the SCCM server with a account with domain admin credentials. Your response got me to thank about right clicking the app and running as an administrator.
When the app is launched that way the Site Code is visible.
Thanks again. -
Packages stored in Catalog Failing When Ran From Agent
The production server was recently rebooted and now all the packages that are stored in the catalog are failing. All of them are encrypted and I know that is an issue but they have been working right up until the reboot.
I went and recreated the job step by calling the package from the file system. It runs from the file system and fails from the catalog. When I was setting up the file system run the process asked me for the package password. I don't get asked when I set
it up to run against the catalog. I'm not seeing anywhere where I can pass the catalog the package password. As a matter of fact there are next to no properties to change or play with to troubleshoot the problem.
I'm certain this is some sort of encryption or permissions issue, I'm just not sure what to change to make it work again. Any input would be appreciated.Probably the account running the packagres from catalog (e.g. via the Agent) has no rights.
Typically resolved by setting the job to run via a proxy account that happens to have just enough rights.

bash-2.03# more rules
# @(#)rules 1.12 94/07/27 SMI
# The rules file is a text file used to create the rules.ok file for
# a custom JumpStart installation. The rules file is a lookup table
# consisting of one or more rules that define matches between system
# attributes and profiles.
# This example rules file contains:
# o syntax of a rule used in the rules file
# o rule_keyword and rule_value descriptions
# o rule examples
# See the installation manual for a complete description of the rules file.
# RULE SYNTAX:
# [!]rule_keyword rule_value [&& [!]rule_keyword rule_value]... begin profile fi
# nish
# "[ ]" indicates an optional expression or field
# "..." indicates the preceding expression may be repeated
# "&&" used to "logically AND" rule_keyword and rule_value pairs together
# "!" indicates negation of the following rule_keyword
# rule_keyword a predefined keyword that describes a general system
# attribute. It is used with the rule_value to match a
# system with the same attribute to a profile.
# rule_value a value that provides the specific system attribute
# for the corresponding rule_keyword. A rule_value can
# be text or a range of values (NN-MM).
# To match a range of values, a system's value must be
# greater than or equal to NN and less than or equal to MM.
# begin a file name of an optional Bourne shell script
# that will be executed before the installation begins.
# If no begin script exists, you must enter a minus sign (-)
# in this field.
# profile a file name of a text file used as a template by the
# custom JumpStart installation software that defines how
# to install Solaris on a system.
# finish a file name of an optional Bourne shell script
# that will be executed after the installation completes.
# If no finish script exists, you must enter a minus sign (-)
# in this field.
# Notes:
# 1. You can add comments after the pound sign (#) anywhere on a line.
# 2. Rules are matched in descending order: first rule through the last rule.
# 3. Rules can be continued to a new line by using the backslash (\) before
# the carriage return.
# 4. Don't use the "*" character or other shell wildcards, because the rules
# file is interpreted by a Bourne shell script.
# RULE_KEYWORD AND RULE_VALUE DESCRIPTIONS
# rule_keyword rule_value Type rule_value Description
# any minus sign (-) always matches
# arch text system's architecture type
# domainname text system's domain name
# disksize text range system's disk size
# disk device name (text)
# disk size (MBytes range)
# hostname text system's host name
# installed text text system's installed version of Solaris
# disk device name (text)

bash-2.03#Hi,
It seems to me that you have not created a proper sysidcfg file. From your post, it looks to me like your sysidcfg contains no entries. This is why it prompts you to enter the kernel path. Look on docs.sun.com for a guide to creating the sysidcfg file . -
ConfigMgr 2012 R2 CU1 Client Installation fails during OSD Patch error 1635
Senario:
Single Primary Site A00, offloaded MP. R2 CU1 patch installed on primary site. Seperate "client with hotfix" package and distributed to offloaded DP.
OSD Task Sequence Installs the client fine as can be seen in the ccmsetup.log file ""<![LOG[CcmSetup is exiting with return code 0]LOG]!><time="15:18:34.414-120" date="05-27-2014"
But then later in the same log the client iniated a repair, "<![LOG[Client (5.00.7958.1000) is installed and is the same or lower version. Initiating repair.]LOG]!><time="16:13:29.634-120" date="05-27-2014"
but at this stage fails to find the patch.

Obviously its not ideal for the CU1 client msp to be installed over the WAN. Can anyone explain why:
1. The client seems to need a repair
2. Cannot access the MSP file when available locally on the client in the "'C:\_SMSTASKSEQUENCE" folder.I always fall back to use this method, when dealing with hotfixes in a task sequence:
http://www.scconfigmgr.com/2014/03/26/install-kb2910552-hotfix-for-configmgr-2012-r2-client-during-osd/
It may be worth a shot to try it out, if you haven't already.

Client Push Not Working SCCM 2012
I am new to SCCM and have a test rig SCCM 2012 for testing, problem is the client push fails every time and I am at a loss to explain why. I have tried removing and reading the DP, FSP and MP roles (Both these are on the SCCM core server) I have run IIS
reset, removed all AD configured Boundaries and Groups in favor of IP range but I keep getting the same errors. Any advice here would be greatly appreciated... Below is this mornings logs highlighting the failure.

How import or publish ConfigMgr 2012 client into WSUS
Hi, I'm trying to deploy ConfigMgr 2012 r2 client through WSUS. But, I do not want to install SUP role on that WSUS server. What are my options.
I've tried Local update publisher to publish ConfigMgr client to WSUS and it works but not as I expected.
Whenever a client installs the ConfigMgr client from WSUS it downloads the client packages from DP and does not use the files available in the cab file. Is there a way to specify current directory as Source in ccmsetup switches?
I see I am left with installing the pre-requisites as separate update then execute client.msi to install sccm client. But that's a pain.. Anybody have any ideas?
Kindly mark as answer/Vote as helpful if a reply from anybody helped you in this forum. DelphinJason, That branch is not poorly connected. It has relatively lower bandwidth when compared with the centralized network. It can handle the client communication well and good. (I feel that I've not stated clearly in my previous reply)
The real question that I currently have(No offence), if at all I want to use the WSUS server as the main source for client deployment, what are my options?
Can I specify current directory as Source in ccmsetup.exe command line? (I don't see that can be done)
I'm thinking of a Vbscript to install pre-requisites and execute client.msi with required switches, but this would be my last approach. Do we have any better approach to accomplish this?.
Kindly mark as answer/Vote as helpful if a reply from anybody helped you in this forum. Delphin -
SCCM 2012 R2 Client only showing 2 items under Actions
I've enable AD Forest Discovery on Primary Site also checked Automatically create AD site boundaries when they are discovered and Automatically create IP address range boundaries for IP subnets when they are discovered.
I didn't change this (default) Disable AD Forest Discovery on CAS.
I am still running SCCM 2007 R3 SP2 in Production environment. Do I need to remove all the boundaries first on SCCM 2007? Before I could install SCCM 2012 R2 client?
The reason that I manually install SCCM 2012 R2 client to my test computers just want to see if the SCCM 2012 R2 client will install without any issues. Right now, there's :(
On my Client Push Installation Properties, I haven't Enable automatic site-wide push installation. I just don't want SCCM 2012 R2 client is automatically pushing it out. Should I enable this? Is there any effect?
Two nights ago, I manually deploy SCCM 2012 R2 client (right click to deploy SCCM Client) to my test Win7x64 Enterprise and Win8.1x64 Enterprise. Until this morning Actions are not fully there (it should be total 11)
SCCM 2012 R2 client (version 5.00.7958.1000) installed but SCEP 2012 is not install (I think there's a problem here) since I checked the Actions button on both of Win7x64 Enterprise and Win8.1x64 Enterprise are only showing 2 Actions:
1. Machine Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle
2. User Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle
I've checked on both of Win7x64 Enterprise and Win8.1x64 Enterprise logs (using CMTrace):
1. CcmExec.log -> no errors
2. LocationServices.log -> Current AD site of machine is Default-First-Site-Name
3. ClientLocation.log -> It knows my new MP (correct one)
4. ClientIDManagerStartup.log -> with errors below
ClientIDManagerStartup.log has lots of RED errors (same one):
<![LOG[RegTask: Failed to send registration request message. Error: 0x8000000a]LOG]!><time="11:26:13.695+420" date="07-03-2014" component="ClientIDManagerStartup" context="" type="3" thread="1716"

I am hoping someone will be able to point me to the right direcly, please. Thanks, Reza
Reza PrawirasatyaIdan,
Thanks for the info.
I have check this registry below:
Check in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SMS\Mobile Client
It's pointing to my new site code of SCCM 2012 R2 (it's not SCCM 2007 site code).
What I did wrong I deploy SCCM 2012 Client Custom Settings to a collection that I created and also Antimalware Policies to that collection as well where that collection has 0 (none members).
So I deleted and just simply pointed both SCCM 2012 Client Custom Settings and Antimalware Policies to All Systems and all my test computers (workstations & servers) have SCCM 2012 R2 client along with SCEP 2012.
I have more questions below:
What's the best way for me to approach this SCCM 2012 R2 Client push to a test computers (workstations and servers).
I have SCCM 2007 R3 SP2 is still running in Production, currently Boundaries set as IP subnet (not using AD Site, it used but I changed it 2 years ago).
Now, SCCM 2012 R2 Primary Site set Enable AD Forest Discovery with Automatically create AD & Automatically create IP address range boundaries for IP subnets.
Of course, by turning this option above, it will pick up lots of different IP subnets. Even the one our sister company (lots of different domain).
1. In SCCM 2012 R2 Boundary Groups, I set Default-First-Site-Name (AD Site), under Site Systems tab, I have also my Primary Site SCCM 2012 R2 here.
Here's the questions:
1. Do I need to add IP subnet in SCCM 2012 R2 Boundary Groups? Do I need to add let's say 10.xxx.20.xxx (IP subnet here).
2. Also, do I need to delete IP subnet in SCCM 2007 Boundaries that correspond to that IP subnet? Let's say I have 10.xxx.20.xxx (IP subnet here) and remove this one since I have added on number 1?

Locked SCCM Client Package waiting for prestaged content, Cant use Client Push
Hi there,
I am having an issue with client push. When initiated the client is unable to find the client install package on the DP. The CCMSETUP log file on the client reads "MP xxxxx.xxx.com didnt return DP locations for client package with the expected
version". This could be caused by a boundry issue but the boundry information is set up correctly, and published into AD.
The SCCM Client on the site server is not getting replicated properly to the DP's that we have setup and I think that this is causing the issue. The reason why its not gettiog to the DP is due to this error: "Distribution Manager is waiting for Package SG100001
content to be prestaged on the distribution point" when we look at the content status of the SCCM client Package.
We are unable to change the prestaged distribution point settings "automatic" as the package is the locked as its the SCCM client installation package and its waiting for us to prestage it on the DP. I have tried prestaging it, but it didnt
work
Any ideas as I have been stuck for two days on this now...
Thanks in advanced.
GeorgeTorsten you were right, The solution was as follows for anyone else having the same issue.
As soon as you create a DP it appears that the client installation package automatically tries to distribute to the DP. If you created the DP as "Enabled for Prestage" while doing the setup then the SCCM client package will just wait for you to
copy it manually. To reslove this I had to remove the "Enabled for Prestage Content" from the DP then go into the SCCM client Package, content location tab, select the DP and redistribute the package to the DP.
Checking the Distribution Manager and PkgXferMgr.log assisted me in monitoring the content transfer to the new location.
Thanks for your assistance.
George
George, I too concur that this fixed the issue.
I had the same problem with my SCCM 2012 R2 CU4, where i updated the distribution point for the Configuration Manager Client Package. Thanks a million!
