  • WLC 5508 and AIR CAP 1602I

    Hello,
We've got a problem with the AP (AIR CAP 1602I) which is managed by WLC 5508(7.4.100.60)
Users connect to the AP with VOIP phones(Avaya).. and there are following problems during calls
    -robot voice
-strong noise(even if call is not made, just speaker is on)
Strange thing is that there is no problem with older APs which are managed with the same WLC.
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance

Well that can be a cause also. I would look at using 7.4.110.0 which is MR1. If that doesn't help, then open a TAC case as it might be something else. Going to v7.5 I don't think will fix the issue.
Many times I would go the the manufacture and find out if the support a certain code or not. It's nice when they do test to make sure it still works. Some manufactures do test and will suggest code versions and that's when you have to decide if the 1602 was really needed or just keep adding 1262's since there was only 3 added.

    Hi Everyone
I recently had to deploy about 4 cisco 1131 AP's to one of our branch location. When configuring them on the controller, i needed to put them in HREAP mode. As soon as i do that and the AP needs to reboot, it will continue to reboot in a loop and indicate the following:

And this is all it does, and keep loading the image. I already know the recovery procedure to reset it, but i wanted to know how i can put these AP in HREAP without having these issues. In the setup we need, we cannot have those AP be in local mode.

  • Air-lap-1131-ag-e-k9 convert to autonomous not working

    Hi,
i have a air-lap01131-ag-e-k9 that was originally in lightweight mode and configured with a controller, but i am in the process of wanting to convert to autonomous mode, i am having issues with connectivity to the AP from my laptop.
i have followed numerous guides on this forum, i have successfully
    downloaded correct firmware
    renamed the firmware to .default
placed this in root of tftp server folder
connected laptop via console to view output
connected laptop via Ethernet to Ethernet port of AP
changed static ip on laptop to 10.0.0.2 set subnet mask to 255.255.255.0, default gateway to 10.0.0.1
held reset button on AP when applying power and waiting for radio light to flash red
AP gets a IP address then of 10.0.0.1
But even though both laptop and AP are in the same subnet, i am unable to ping the AP from my laptop and it doesn't start the tftp process
I have disabled firewall etc, and tried with both crossover and straight through cable, it seems there is something missing at this last stage, i even tried on a second laptop but that would not ping either, am i missing something.
i acquired the AP for training purposes to help with studies and so far i have learnt a lot of troubleshooting but i would really love to get past this, any help would be really appreciated.
    Kind regards
    Sam

  • Air-cap 3502i White LED no console output

On our department We have 36 lightweight AP 3502i  v02 out of the 36 ap only 7  are working fine. And the rest has white LED and no console output, all the AP that working fine are v01.
Basic on the information in the link below, the access points with v02 should be fine. I wondering if anyone who has the same problem with these software or access points.

    thank you

Never saw that before, since when are you running into this problem?
In the 3500 documentation there is no explanation given for the white LED status, so I guess that you have to file a TAC case. The 3500 access-points have limited lifetime warranty, so if they are broken you will receive new ones in about 10 business days (much faster if you have smartnets on them, but not a lot of people do this).

  • Air-Cap 3501

Just got a Cisco 3501 AP, Did not know it required such complex configuration. If someone could/would help out. here is what I am asking
I have a cisco 3650 switch NICE- It has the controller for this wireless AP>  I have no ideas how to set that up, unable to find resources on-line. However I found this section in the documentation
    option 43 hex <hex string>
The hex string is assembled by concatenating the TLV values shown below:
    Type + Length + Value
Type is always f1(hex). Length is the number of controller management IP addresses times 4 in hex. Value is the IP address of the controller listed sequentially in hex.
For example, suppose that there are two controllers with management interface IP addresses, 10.126.126.2 and 10.127.127.2. The type is f1(hex). The length is 2 * 4 = 8 = 08 (hex). The IP addresses translate to 0a7e7e02 and 0a7f7f02. Assembling the string then yields f1080a7e7e020a7f7f02. The resulting Cisco IOS command added to the DHCP scope is option 43 hex f1080a7e7e020a7f7f02.
How do I make the conversion of this equation. Its tells you here to do but not how to do it. Also the controller setup. I cant find anything one this.
Maybe this AP is not worth the effort ?
Thanks Please be judgment free This is my first time here, So if this post is done wrong.. Sorry on that .

DEVICE IS NOW IN AP MODE  HOW CAN I EASILY LOAD ANOTHER IOS............................TELL ME SOME AP MODE COMMANDS

Please goes a long way matey :-).
The experts can probably correct me here but it looks like your IOS is in  "flash:/ap3g2-k9w7-mx.152-4.JA1/ap3g2-k9w7-mx.152-4.JA1" and your AP is trying to boot from: "flash:/ap3g2-k9w7-mx.152-4.JA1/ap3g2-k9w7-xx.152-4.JA1"
So firstly, try using the following command:
    set boot flash:/ap3g2-k9w7-mx.152-4.JA1/ap3g2-k9w7-mx.152-4.JA1
then issue the 'boot' command and see if that works.
If not, grab a copy of your IOS and setup a TFTP server connected to your Access Point. You may need to turn off your personal firewall when you do this.
Follow the instructions at this link which explain it on an 1142 which should be the same method:

    Hi,
Yes you must need to change to autonomous mode.Yes it is the right software and you will not face any problem regarding license.
But for download the autonomous AP image from cisco you need a CCO (Cisco login) and valid service contract .
Here is the latest image:Can download from here

  • 2 WLCS for failover

    Hi,
I want to buy a second WLC. The equipment hasn't been ordered yet so I just trying to think a head.
As I understand it if I buy the second WLC and put it in the same mobility group then enable AP fallback that is all I have to do. Is that really it? They will be 2504's. The APs are Air Cap 36021-A-k9.
What about adding the access points etc etc does that happen automatically and the config gets replicated? Again sorry to ask what might be a stupid question for many but I really know very little about wireless at the moment.
Also is there an idiots guide somewhere for setting up guest wireless lans?
    Thanks,

Consider a scenario where there are two Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs) named WLC1 and WLC2. These WLCs are configured in the same subnet in one WLAN. In order to achieve high availability, this is how the WLAN is configured:
WLC1 and WLC2 are configured within the same mobility      group.
Half of the access points are configured to use WLC1 as      the primary WLC and use WLC2 as the secondary WLC.
The other half of the access points are configured to      use WLC2 as the primary WLC and use WLC1 as the secondary WLC.
The fallback feature is enabled on both WLC1 and WLC2.
    Network Diagram
    Resolution
If any of the WLCs go down, the access point that is joined to the failed WLC  recognizes this (keep alive (heartbeat) between access point and WLC). Therefore, the access point begins to join the good WLC, which still runs. This is not stateful failover, which means that the access point has to join the new WLC and therefore the wireless clients.
Also, if either of the WLCs do not work and the affected access points re-register to the other WLC, then the wireless clients have to re-associate and therefore lose wireless connection during failover as it is not stateful failover. The failover is not transparent to the WLAN client. That is, the WLAN clients lose their WLAN connectivity during access point failover.
Access points and clients are not effected on the WLC that runs. This means that the fallback of the access point is not transparent to the clients. Only access points and clients on the failed WLC are effected.
In order to configure the WLAN Controller failover for Lightweight Access points, the Access Point must be configured correctly in a mobility group for the AP failover and each Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) must have the AP failover feature enabled.
Configure the Fallback Feature on WLC
The last step is to configure the Fallback feature on the controller. This feature ensures that the AP switches return to the first WLC when the WLC that comes back on line. Complete these steps:
From the GUI, choose Controller > General.A      list of options appears on the General screen.
For the AP Fallback option, choose Enabled from      the drop-down menu.
Click Apply.Note: It is sufficient to      enable the Fallback feature on the secondary controller alone. But it is      recommended to configure it on the primary WLC as well because it can be      configured as a secondary controller for other access points
    http://www.cisco.com/image/gif/paws/69639/wlc_failover-12.gif
After you complete these steps, the setup is configured for WLC failover. When the primary controller (WLC-1, in this case) goes down, the APs automatically get registered with the secondary controller (WLC-2). The APs register back to the primary controller when the primary controller comes back on line. AP switching between the primary and secondary controllers also affects the wireless clients associated with these APs.
In controller software release 5.1.151.0, you can configure the wireless network so that the backup controller recognizes a join request from a higher-priority access point and, if necessary, disassociates a lower-priority access point as a means to provide an available port. In order to configure this feature, failover priority must be enabled on the network and assign priorities to the individual access points. By default, all access points are set to priority level 1, which is the lowest priority level.
Note: Be aware that Failover priority takes effect only if there are more association requests after a controller failure than there are available backup controller ports.
    Wireless LAN Controller Failover Priority
During installation, Cisco recommends you connect all lightweight access points to a dedicated controller, and configure each lightweight access point for final operation. This step configures each lightweight access point for a primary, secondary, and tertiary controller and allows it to store the configured mobility group information. When sufficient controllers are deployed, if one controller fails, active access point client sessions are momentarily dropped while the dropped access point associates with another controller, which allows the client device to immediately reassociate and reauthenticate.
You can also follow the below link(WLAN Controller Failover for Lightweight Access Points Configuration Example)

  • Exe build error involvving internal.llb

    Hi all,
I have built many exe's, but for some reason this one is being difficult!  I get an error which states:
    Error 1003 occurred at \\Rochester\mtp\Test Rigs\NC4\NC4 Air Cap\Code Development\Air cap v2.0\exe\internal.llb\Air Cap inspection Rig v2.1.vi
I have reviewed many forum posts which suggest that one of the sub vi's is not executable.  The main vi and all of the sub-vi's will execute in the labview environment.  I have tried a forced compile and even a mass compile.  All to no avail.  This problem occurs on two different PC's and other similar vi's build fine, so I assume it is not a problem with the builder.
I am using LabVIEW 7.1, Vision 8.0 and IMAQ 3.5.1: see attached report for good measure.
    Can you help?
If you need the sub vi's let me know.

Air Cap inspection Rig v2.1.vi ‏253 KB

    HI Dan,
Thank you for your post, I have been investigating into your issue and the error code 1003 means:
    1003
The VI is not executable. Most likely the VI is broken or one of its subVIs cannot be located. Open the VI in LabVIEW using File»Open And verify that it is runnable.
This may occur because one of your variables is spelt slightly different to what the code is expecting, or because one of your enum typedefs has an empty element.
By any chance are you using Microsoft word, Excel, RT, or the report generation toolkit?
If so you need to include more files to make it work as an .exe.
Also it may help if you:
    Enter the ‘my advanced properties’
Check the Enable debugging option in the Advanced category of the application executable properties.
Uncheck the Disconnect type definitions and remove unused polymorphic VI instances.
Here are some links that may help you:

  • WLC ethernet bridge

    Hi,
I've a WLC 2106 and it is running IOS version 7.0.240. I am trying to setup a wireless mesh and used the ethernet bridge port on the MAP to extend the network. The wireless mesh works fine but I can not get the switch to work that is connected to the ethernet port on the MAP.
I'm using two different Access points. I'm using a Air Cap 3502i as the RAP and a Air Lap1142N as the MAP.
The switch port that is connected to the RAP and MAP is configured as the following:
    switchport mode trunk
    switchport trunk native vlan 2
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 10,20,30,40
The RAP etherbridge port is enable and set to: normal
The MAP etherbridge port is enable and set to: Trunk,
native vlan is set to: 2
    Vlan id 10
    Vlan id 20
The wireless mesh between the RAP and MAP works fine. I can connect a device to the MAP wirelessly and access the network with no problem but I can not get anything to work that connects to the switch that is connected to the MAP ethernet port.
Could someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I would open a TAC case as this is a bug. I don't recall what code it stopped working but I know it doesn't work also in the v7.3 & v7.4
