Has anyone successfully used a "WD My Book for Mac" via NAS (plugged into USB port on router) as a Time Machine back-up drive? Apple support tech tried to tell me it wasn't possible and that the only NAS Time Machine could back up to is the Time Capsule, but I'm not buying it. I know it's doable, but I'm having a hard time figuring out which External HDDs will work and which ones won't. If not My Book for Mac, is there an External HDD that will work? (Running OS X 10.9.1 - Mavericks, btw...)
Given the nature of backups, my recommendation has always been to use a strategy that is unequivocally supported by Apple. As you already determined Apple Support unequivocally informed you that your proposal will not work, unless your router is an Apple AirPort Extreme or Time Capsule.
The exhaustive list of devices supported by Time Machine amounts to the following:
AirPort Time Capsule's built-in hard disk (any model)
External USB hard disk drive connected to a Time Capsule (any model)
External USB hard disk drive connected to an AirPort Extreme (current model only)
A hard disk drive directly connected to your Mac
That is all.
Use whatever backup device you want, but you should be aware that this site is full of reports of misery from hapless individuals who had been using NAS devices for Time Machine backups, only to find that they were incomplete, corrupted, or useless when they were required. Apple won't care if you lose your data while using a Time Machine configuration specifically excluded from their technical support documents. -

Open Destop Manager 6 and success syncronizing media file, but if I try to click configuration setting for syncronizing address book, calender and memo, it must be open popup choice to check box for address book and calender (refer: user manual DM6 ), but I click configuration setting and direction to connect internet and not choice to check box.
Ok, so connecting is not a problem.
It may well be worthwhile downgrading the BB OS. Go throught the process of wiping the device and reinstalling a previous OS to see if this will permit Syncing.

Configuring emca for oracle 9i
Hi,
I have installed oracle 9i on solaris. I have started the enterprise manager using the command emca. Now it asks me to configure the same. I am not aware of the same.
Could someone please tell me how to configure the same or point me to a pdf or article which the respective steps mentioned in details.
Thanks,
AnandYou can find basic information and some sample questions by following links from the main Oracle web site: www.oracle.com
Robert Freeman wrote a New Features book for Oracle 9 that may be of interest. Then again reading the Concepts and DBA Admin manual plus peeking at the SQL manual for full syntax and options for covered features would likely be the best study path.

Lotus Notes 5.x Personal Address Book for mailings?
Is it possible to use the Lotus Notes 5.x Personal Address Book for mailings in StarOffice 7?
There is no direct choice for Notes in Extras/Datenquellen.
Regards,
VolkerYou will need to check to see how you configured CCM Enterprise parameters. most of the time, the pararemeters need to be set to IP address, not hostname. I find hostnames for the CM servers to be a pain in the rear for "services" "directories" etc.
Unless you want to configure DNS on the IP phones to resolve the hostname of the CM5 server, then then it will also work. But your problem is that your phones configs think that the Directories URL is http://cmhostname/xxx/xx instead of URL http://ipaddresscmserver/xxx/xx -
How do i configure REGISTRY for enterprise services
Hi,
Please let me know how to Configure Registry for enterprise services in SAP Discover system V2.
Regards,
NaveenI'm afraid it's a bit more complicated than adding a server into the list in Step 3 :)
When a DirectAccess client is connecting into a corporate network that is IPv4 (I assume yours is, most are), it can reach into your IPv4 servers because the DA server is doing NAT64/DNS64 translations, turning all of your DirectAccess IPv6 packets into
IPv4 packets before they head inside the network. But even though this happens in the background without you really knowing about it, the key thing there is that all DirectAccess traffic is IPv6. This means the clients can only be contacted via IPv6. If you
have IPv6 inside your network, then you can route outbound fairly easily to your DA client computers. If you are all IPv4 inside as most companies are, then you have to either roll IPv6 out inside your network, at least partially, or you have to utilize ISATAP
inside your network in order to create a sort of "virtual IPv6 cloud" that runs on top of your IPv4 internal network. This enables your internal management systems (like the BMC servers and helpdesk computers for RDP access outbound) to have a connection
into the IPv6 world, which then enables them some routing capability to get out to the IPv6-connected DA clients. In addition to this IPv6 or ISATAP setup, you also need to configure WFAS rules on the DA clients so that they will allow this traffic.
There is some info on setting up ISATAP here: http://blogs.technet.com/b/jasonjones/archive/2013/04/19/limiting-isatap-services-to-directaccess-manage-out-clients.aspx
Otherwise one of the chapters in this book is also dedicated to the setup of a selective ISATAP environment, to be used for the purposes of DirectAccess outward management: https://www.packtpub.com/virtualization-and-cloud/microsoft-directaccess-best-practices-and-troubleshooting -

i faced the same problem
did you solve yours meanwhile ?

i purchased 2 books for my iPad and they downloaded successfully. They show up in iTunes when my iPad is connected to my Mac but do not show up on the Mac. Is this a synch issue? When I click the Synch box I am warned that downloads on my iPad will be erased. Is that true? My ultimate goad is to be able to read the books on my iPhone as well. Thanks.
You should be able to copy them to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases and you can then sync them to the iPhone (or you could re-download them directly on the iPhone)

The boot configuration data for your Pc is missing or contains errors: error code 0x000014c
Hello,
See if any body may help here... I get this blue screen:
RECOVERY
Your PC needs to be repaired:
The Boot Configuration Data for your PC is missing or contains errors.
file:\\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\BCD
Error code: 0xc000014c
You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media (like a a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer.
Press Esc for UEFI Firmware Settings
First I was able to get into the option 11 and run the whole factory reset, i was so happy because I tought it will be easy.. but then after I did the factory reset.. I keep getting this blue screen. if I press ESC I get into this next screen:
F1 System Information
F2 System Diagnostics
F9 Boot Device Options
F10 BIOS Setup
F11 System Recovery
ENTER - Continue Startup.
this is what happen when I click any of this options:
F1 I get into the System Information with no problems, then I click <ESC> to continue and get back to the last screen... then I press F2 and super, I am able to run Memory Test and Hard Drive Check 100% with no problems in any of those, after I am done with my teste I press exit and I am back to the F1,F2, ETC menu... now I want to try F9, F10 or F11. bummer.. in this 3 options I get back to the blue screen described at the beggining of this post. (I already connect a USB with an boot loader, which works perfectly)
so I can't do anything, nothing at all!! crazzines.
So what I did to check why I can't get into the BIOS or at least to boot from my USB... I removed the botton cover of my laptop and removed the hard drive and that's how then I was or I am able to Log into the BIOS, - I did the changes to boot first from the USB and then from the HD and this is how I was able to boot from the USB - BUT If I connect back the Hard drive, I am not able to get into the BIOS or boot from the USB - so basically I am stuck in this blue screen and I can't boot from a USB if I have the HD connected.. I can't use any option.. no BIOS, nothing.. only if again, i disconnect the HD.
This is an:
HP ENVY TS Sleekbook 4
PRODUCT NUMBER D1A99UA#ABA
SYSTEM BOARD ID: 1894
Bios F.25
**** I though that by updating the BIOS I may be able to get help, nothing. What I did is, I removed the HD and then and boot from the USB and with a DOS command propmt I excecuted the Bios Update from F.21 to f.25... but again, when I installed the hard drive back, BUMMER, nothing I can't do nothing but this silly blue screen.
Any idea of what should I do?
Thanks in advance.
This question was solved.
View Solution. If you can't access BIOS with the hard disk connected, you certainly won't be able to boot to the usb recovery flashdrive. That is indicative of a failed hard disk.
Install a new hard disk and then boot to the recovery flashdrive.
