Configuration CMS

Hi all
i have some questions regarding CMS
i have to implement CMS to transfer design object and configuration object to PRD from DEV.
my XI environment;
DEV BOX, PRD BOX, SLD BOX, JDI(CMS) BOX. we have total 4 BOX.
according to help.sap.com,
"You enter the server addresses for a maximum of three different Integration Repositories or Integration Directories: one for development (DEV, mandatory), one for consolidation (CONS, mandatory), and one for the productive environment (PROD, optional). Enter a URL with the following structure: http://<server>:<port>/rep/ or http://<server>:<port>/dir/."
is CONS BOX mandatory to implement CMS? We are not going to have CONS box.
while following installation JDI,
step3a: Prepare the System Landscape Directory,
i have central sld as i mentioned, where do i work on?
SLD on JDI server, or my existing Central SLD?
and Step Register the SLD Server in the SLD
I do not understand because of two SLD, i am not clear this step.
what is that mean?  which SLDs for two sld?
Thank You in advance.

  • NWDI Configuration: CMS

    hi,
We are trying to configure NWDI and in this process, we had completed all the steps for NWDI installation and configuration and also the CMS configuration, Product & SC Definition in SLD now during the creation of Tracks using CMS, we are not able to see the Software component created in the SLD.
Any idea how to solve this.
    Thanks and regards,
    Kris

    Kris,
Couple of things, which might help:
    1. Go to CMS/Landscape Configurator/Domain Data
Make sure SLD URL field has correct data and press "Update CMS" button.
CMS will sync component data from SLD. If it fails, check log files for explanation. If success, you will see new components from SLD.
    2. NWDI questions are better answered if posted to NWDI forum
    SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI)
There are good NWDI experts monitoring the forum.

  • Configuring CMS in separate Netweaver Devolopment Infrastucture 7.0 SP9

    Hello,
We are using a standalone server, on which only the JDI 7.0 SP9 is running. Now we want to transport our XI developments with that JDI.
Unfortunately, all how-to guides regarding CMS+XI assume that the JDI is installed on the XI system itself.
How is it possible to use a separate JDI server for transport in CMS?
can anyone help me in this configuration..?

  • Configuring CMS...

    hi Everyone,
when i'm trying to create a Track in the CMS, after specifying the new track details, I need to add a software component to the track. Then automatically the the SC dependants will be added.
Then i also need to copy the software dependecies in the inbox of CMS.
what the purpose of doing that?
Edited by: sai balaji on Jul 13, 2008 7:34 PM

You are actually defining the dependencies and the software component for the track in the first step.In order to work with the SC you have to deploy that to the runtime systems and that is exactly what you are doing by keeping them in CMS inbox and import to the runtime systems.

  • LSADMIN CMS authorization problem - How To Transport XI Content Using CMS

We are configuring CMS using the "How To Transport XI Content Using CMS".  For the LSADMIN user we have added the SAP_XI_CMS_SERV_USER and SAP_SLD_ORGANIZER roles.  We have followed all of the steps in the guide.
The problem we are encountering is that when we define the domain but put in the LSADMIN as the user, we get an error - "SLD (URL http://server:50000) server exception: HTTP response code: 403 Forbidden"
We then gave the LSADMIN all of the roles of XISUPER and restarted the J2EE engine.  We still have the same problem.  So we changed the CMS User to be XISUPER and we could save the domain.  Now, we have another problem - when we try to export from dev using CMS, we get the following problem:
"Sent on 3/9/06 at 1:26 PM: Unable to establish connection to CMS server http://servername:50000. Unable to transfer the following transport lists:  Export list for ...
Details: unknown exception: com.sap.cms.util.exception.conf.CMSCFinderException: Workspace name does not exist: com.sap.cms.util.exception.conf.CMSCFinderException: Workspace name does not exist: version=0,dtrWSName=
Check the availability of the CMS and the user authorizations and send the transport request again if necessary
We are on SP16.  Anyone encountered this issue?
    Regards,
    Jay

Here are all of roles we have given LSADMIN in client 100:
    SAP_CMS_ADMINISTRATOR
    SAP_SLD_DEVELOPER
    SAP_SLD_GUEST
    SAP_SLD_ORGANIZER
    SAP_XI_BPE_MONITOR_ABAP
    SAP_XI_CMS_SERV_USER
    SAP_XI_CMS_SERV_USER
    SAP_XI_DEMOAPP
    SAP_XI_DEVELOPER
    SAP_XI_DEVELOPER_ABAP
    SAP_XI_DEVELOPER_J2EE
    SAP_XI_MONITOR
    SAP_XI_MONITOR_ABAP
    SAP_XI_MONITOR_J2EE
But on the J2EE side, we only see the following roles for LSADMIN:
    - Authenticated Users Built-in Group Authenticated Users
    - Everyone Built-in Group Everyone
    - SAP_XI_CMS_SERV_USER Exchange Infrastructure: Change Management Service User
I checked client 000, and noticed that LSADMIN only had the SAP_XI_CMS_SERV_USER.  So this the problem.  I added all of the roles to LSADMIN in client 000 and restarted J2EE and now i can see all of the roles under the LSADMIN user in UME.
We noticed the problem that our UME configuration was pointing to client 000 and not client 100.  If we go to Visual administrator and go to the Services->UME Provider, we see that - ume.r3.connection.master.client points to client 000.  We will need to change this.
That was the issue.  UME was pointing to the wrong ABAP client.  I appreciate all of your help.

    Jay

  • CMS exports problem - urgent

    Hi,
Issue: CMS transport option is not displaying in the context menu drop down list for the Integration Repository (IR) Export CMS transport for the all SWCVs.
    My question is:
    1. Do we really need the CMS track to display  CMS TRANSPORT in the context menu?
    2. As per How to...Use XI with CMS.pdf ; document the context menu should display the
CMS TRANSPORT irrespective of track creation (Section 3.3.1; PAGE:7 once
the following parameters (Integration Rrepositor) are set to true value:
    com.sap.aii.ibrep.core.cms.enableClTransport
    com.sap.aii.ibrep.core.cms.enableManualSpDefinition
    com.sap.aii.ibrep.core.cms.enableTransportWizard

  • CMS Import failed

    Hello
I have a problem with importing Content into CONS XI.
    Stack trace:
Fatal Exception:com.sap.cms.tcs.interfaces.exceptions.TCSCommunicationException: communication error: XiTransportException received:
ClientServerException exception:Specified object version has an invalid status.  "open" was expected but  "closed" was actually transferred
com.sap.aii.utilxi.misc.api.ResourceException: Specified object version has an invalid status.  "open" was expected but  "closed" was actually transferred
Could you help me how to solve this problem?

    Hi Denis,
CMS is a sophisticated method of transporting XI objects. CMS offers sort of single window approach. Its web GUI conveniently enables importing both IR, ID objects, checking the transport logs, keeping the track of transports moved. In addition, for transport from CON to PRD system, you can designate some approval authority to regulate and approve transports to PRD system. Having said this I think it still has to evolve to offer complete tracking of changes. Unfortunately present CMS doesn’t allow you to display the objects included in the respective export list. You need to separately document it. Incidentally, CMS is not part of WAS and we additionally need to install and configure it. It is a part of JDI (Java Development Infrastructure) initially introduced for managing Java logistics.
Please go through these links which actualy show you how to configure CMS and also gives you all information regarding it.So go through these links and compare it with what you have done to actually find the cause for your error...

  • Configuring the JDI / Java Development Infrastructure

    Hello,
i know there are a lot of matters in help.sap.com but it is very confusing for me:
I want to configure our development infrastructure for test purposes. We have three workplaces for developers and one testserver with WAS JAVA (+ABAP) 6.40. I want to use Scenario 2 with all Components of the Infrastructure (CBS, DTR, CMS, SLD).
Can you give me hints, where to have a look at and how to start reasonable?
    Thanks for help or advices,
    André

    Hello André,
The guide you need is to be found in the SAP Service Marketplace, Quicklink "instguidesnw04" (http://service.sap.com/instguidesnw04) -> Installation
-> DevEnv -> Installation Guide SAP NetWeaver JDI. Here installation and configuration of the JDI are described. By the way - the development scenarios using the complete JDI are scenarios 2+ and 3. Scenario 2 wasn't using CBS and CMS, but seperate tools to create development configurations and perform the component build afterwards. This scenario 2 was declared a demo scenario and is now no longer recommended, because it's only little more effort to configure CMS, CBS and SLD - as you choose - but doing this then gives you much better insight into the productive use of the SAP NetWeaver JDI (this will be reflected in the next documentation update).
Once you have installed and configured the SAP NetWeaver JDI you'll find tutorials for all development scenarios using the JDI in the SAP Help Portal under http://help.sap.com
-> Documentation --> SAP NetWeaver --> SAP NetWeaver '04 -->  Getting Started – Development Infrastructure.

  • CTS and CMS

    What is CTS n CMS?

    Hi,
    CTS
The Change and Transport System (CTS) is a tool that helps you to organize development projects in the ABAP Workbench and in customizing, and then transport the changes between the SAP Systems and clients in your system landscape.
This documentation provides you with an overview of how to manage changes with the CTS and essential information on setting up your system and client landscape and deciding on a transport strategy. Read and follow this documentation when planning your development project.
For practical information on working with the Change and Transport System, see Change and Transport Organizer and Transport Management System.
What ever is developed in sap is assiged to a transport request, it is created by transaction SE09 and then it is released when the data needs to be transported in various other systems.
The Change and Transport System (CTS, SAP NetWeaver usage type AS ABAP) is enhanced with SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPS 12 to be capable of transporting Non-ABAP object types, such as from the SAP NetWeaver usage types PI (Exchange Infrastructure), EP (Portal), etc. The enhanced CTS I will refer to as CTS+. Using its new capabilities further simplifies system administration of an SAP system landscape.
