Configuration Comparison Tool

Hello Folks,
I remember some colleague once mentioned the possibility of someone having a tool to compare configurations. But I don't remember who it was. I have another request for comparing configurations from customer and I don't want to do that manually. I don't even know what to estimate without checking how many configuration the customer has...
Does someone has something to provide?
Thanks
Norman

Hi Norman,
are you looking for the Configuration Analyzer or another tool?
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/602c4988-c4db-2e10-39a7-8f8404d39c51?QuickLink=index&…
Up to now, this is the only IDM configuration check tool I know.
Hope that helps.

  • Is there a ruleset comparison tool available in the market?

    Dear all,
I wanted to know if there is a SAP GRC ruleset comparison tool available in the market? As a part of our audit requirement, I would need to compare our current rulesets with the ones from last quarter - To identify any changes/enhancements.
I know Bizrights Approva supports a comparison tool called ExamXML where we can perform a comparison of 2 XML files and figure out the differences/ changes.
Please let me know if any of you has used such a tool for GRC ruleset comparison.
    Thanks,
    Kunal

If any auditor is comparing sap delivered rule sets with a companies' grc rule sets (without deep investigations) and reporting the differences in his/her audit report (as white spaces)  then the auditor is doing it the wrong way.
The auditor should be aware of the following facts:
    1. SAP delivered rule sets are mere best practices (only starting point)
    2. Most of the customers modify/update the rule sets as per their requirements
    3. Organizational rules are created by customers differently
    4. Some customers don't even choose sap delivered rule sets and completely create their own.
So the difference between rule sets is obvious, but these findings may or may not be entirely appropriate to reach to a conclusion for audit purposes.

  • Forte and Configuration Management tools

    Hello everybody,
We are starting here a project with Forte. It will involve about 15
developers on two sites one in France and one in Germany.
Among other starting tasks, we have been considering using a Configuration
Manager tool connected to Forte. With the Configuration Manager we want to
do version control of the developed code.
Thus we have been experimenting various simple solutions to make backup /
recovery using the plans / workspaces / repositories of Forte using simple
techniques (FSCRIPT scripts + UNIX scripts). It has not been so obvious to
go around the checks that FORTE makes when it "compiles" a plan and when it
"integrates", assuming the public interfaces of some code have changed.
We came to the conclusion that restoring an old "version" of the code of an
application is almost every time a significative task which involves system
administration. One clean way to do it (at least the one we have identified)
requires the creation of a new repository, its loading with the version to
be restored, and from now on developers must use that repository. This
implies that an overall coherent set of code is restored, in fact the entire
application under development. No piecewise restore of let say just a
project, or a class. The backup is simply made by exporting a workspace that
includes the top most plan of our application, and thus automatically all
    the supplier plans.
I have read in some articles that there are some experience somewhere of
using Forte with some CM tools of the market; furthermore is it true that
version 3 of Forte will come (link to ?) real and exhaustive functionalities
    for CM ?
We have experience here on CCC which has been used on "classical"
development projects. We have some knowledge on ClearCase.
Among other things I expect from a CM tool :
    * the ability to see the differences between the various versions of a piece
of code (here a module, there a "plan"), so "what has changed".
    * management of checkout : who has checked out what and when.
In addition, cooperation between a CM tool and Forte needs that the CM takes
over some functions of Forte (eg, checkout, integrate, import). Is there a
way to hook "exits" into the Forte workshops ? These exists could then be
shell scripts linking with the CM tool.
I am very interested in discussing the matter more in detail.

In my opinion, Portal has a lot of work to do in terms of configuration and change management. If you are using Portal as an application platform, as opposed to KM, you are better of developing java portlets, so that you can use the SCM with JDeveloper and stay away from the application components. If you do want to use the components, then application export/import is the only way. You can setup your own procedures for handling the exported files (version etc).
You don't really version KM apps. Content is meant to be posted and otherwise administered by content area admins and users. It is not a "application", that must be change managed. There are versioning features available at the item level, which is adequate (but by no means a complete versioning system. Use iFS if you want that).
I have heard quite a few horror stories about exporting and importing content areas.
A 3-system Portal landscape, in my opinon, is overkill and trying to fit an existing approach to a new tool. A test/dev and a production Portal might be more palatable to the IT budget.
    My 2.5 cents

  • Configuration Migration Tool Question

    Hi
I trying to migrate a FIM configuration from one server to another.
While following the steps described in "Introduction to the Configuration Migration Tool" document I get an error in step 8.
Join-FIMConfig : Two objects with the same AnchorAttributeValue were detected.  A requirement for using this migration
tool is that AnchorAttributeValue is unique within an Object Type.
AnchorAttributeNames = AppliesToCreate AppliesToEdit AppliesToView DisplayName
AnchorAttributeValues = AppliesToCreate AppliesToEdit AppliesToView DisplayName
    ObjectType = ObjectVisualizationConfiguration
    ObjectID 1 = urn:uuid:ecbff780-511b-45da-85fe-65cbf236d80f
    ObjectID 2 = urn:uuid:8aa59dca-7759-4d32-96d2-3f21ed1239f2
    At line:1 char:26
I am not ware, that I have changed anything in the portal itself at all. I only have custom Sync rules, Sets and MPRs defined.
How can I determin which those objects are that make the trouble here?
What are preferred join rules to overcome this problem?
    Thanks in advance.
    Henry

I'm having the exact same error, but for other attributes:
Join-FIMConfig : Two objects with the same AnchorAttributeValue were detected.  A requirement for using this migration
tool is that AnchorAttributeValue is unique within an Object Type.
    AnchorAttributeNames = DisplayName
    AnchorAttributeValues = DisplayName

    ObjectID 2 = urn:uuid:9f35c912-18bb-4b73-b128-281be0cae32f
Any tips on how to resolve this? These are built-in attributes, so I think I didn't cause this. When does he actually complain about duplicate values? Because there are more objects with duplicate DisplayNames...
    The objects are:

  • Oracle DB schema and data comparison tools that compare BLOBs

I'm looking for schema and data comparison tool like DBDiff or DbTools, but it has to be able to compare BLOB and CLOB fields. I went thru few products available on the market but could not find any that does that.
Can you please recommend tool that will help me with it.
    Thanks,

    Hi.
I use Comparenicus for Oracle from Orbium Software. It compares data and schema, CLOBs, BLOBs..
It can also handle large tables which is very useful for some of my environments.
Last (but not least) it has a unique feature for copying selective data from one DB to another. You can read about it this post:

  • Looking for a LabVIEW "Comparison Tool"

    LabVIEW is hell to debug.
I'm working through Exercise 7-5 in the Intermediate I Course Manual. There is a Producer Loop, a Consumer Loop, and a Display Loop, each with a 8 to 12 element Case Structure.
Currently (11/14/2007), my project bombs consistently. Press Play, let it get half way through its cycle, press Stop, then the interface becomes unresponsive. I've tried enabling Highlight Execution, but there are many VIs that I don't understand (the manual has me drop them in) and so many things going on at once that I am lost.
I navigated to the Solutions folder, and opened the project. The solution (from what I can see) looks identical to mine, and it runs as it should.
I want to compare the two, so I tried to open another instance of LabVIEW so that I could look at each of the cases side-by-side. Naturally, LabSPEW (as we have come to call it) will not let you open 2 instances at one time.
Unlike normal languages (C++, VB, Perl), I can not print my code to see what went wrong (viewing on a screen is more difficult than looking at it on paper), and I can not use conventional comparison tools. It seems I am at the mercy of National Instruments to provide something.
I looked in the LV menus for a comparison tool. If it is there, it is either in an illogical spot or it is called something that I am not expecting.
I searched this forum for "comparison tool", but hundreds of irrelevant topics were all I could find.
Does anyone know how to compare one project to another using LabVIEW? Is this possible?
Angus Cattle from Pool Ranch and Steel Repairs via Joe's Welding.

To nrp: I printed the file to PDF (should be attached). (Maybe that will be good for "LabViewGu..." below.)
To LabViewGu...: New to LV (hence the Intermediate Course I'm taking). What do you mean by "post your code"? It's all in pictures! I guess I could say "Timing Module.vi Error In comes from here, Error Out goes to there," etc., but that would take forever!
To tst: I tried doing the compare, but when I went to Select... the file to compare it with, the C:\Solutions folder was not among the choices. I attempted to enter it manually, but LV said it was not a valid choice. My vi is listed in the "Compare VIs" dialog box as "TLC.lvproj\My Computer\TLC Main.vi" and it is physically located "C:\Exercises\LabVIEW Intermediate I\Course Project\TLC Main.vi".

  • Is there a MASS COMPARISON tool available anywhere?

    Hello friends,
Is there a mass comparison tool available? I have over hundred programs in QA environment which must be compared to their counterpart in the DEV environment. Currently the only way I know is to go through the list and compare one at a time which is very tedious, time consuming and error prone. So, an alternative to this is most welcome.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello Goharjou
I would create a simple eCATT testscript for transaction SE39 (Split-screen Editor) where you compare the source on DEV vs. QA system. When you push the "Comparison On" button in the split-screen editor you will get the message "The Programs are not identical" (EDCMP, 417) if the two sources are not identical.
This way you can restrict the number of program objects which actually differ on DEV vs. QA.

  • Cisco Prime Inf 1.2 configuration compliance tool

Hi - working with a trial version of Cisco Prime 1.2.  I am looking for a Configuration Compliance tool.  I used it in Cisco Works LMS - but I dont see a way to do the same thing with Cisco Prime.
    Please advise.
    Thanks

PI 1.2 definitely does not include all the regulatory compliance features of LMS. Reference.
Even though the document says PI 1.2 will do baseline compliance, I haven't figured out how they expect you to do that.

  • Hard Drive Data Comparison Tool

Hi guys -Wonder if any of you can help.
I'm trying to discover if there is a data comparison tool out there that is free, or not too costly. The company I work for produce a lot of data daily and this is stored on our servers so it can be easily accessed by all. At some point there has been a duplicate of this data made on another volume.
So hard drive 'A' has data on, as does hard drive 'B'. I'm trying to find a way of comparing both these drives against each other as some of the data is newer on 'A' and some is newer on 'B'.The end result id like would be just one single set of data, so I can remove the duplicate to free up some space. Then I could create a nice back up of the most recent data.If any of you spiceheads is able to shed some light on this, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
