Hi DMS gurus,
I'm new to DMS, Can someone guide me on DMS with Concepts Documents and most importantly Configuration documents.
What knowledge is required for practicing DMS in SAP.
I'm basically FICO & MM consultant.
Can some one tell me about it.

Document Management
For using the central functionalities of DMS you can use transaction CV01N (create), CV02N (edit), CV03N (display) and CV04N (search). With these transactions you can test the DMS main functionalities.

Go to http://help.sap.com/ and click on SAP Best Practices. Look for Building Blocks Library under the Additional Information on the right side of the page. In the Building Block Library, look for J10- Asset Management. Click on that and thereafter, under Technical Documentation, click on configuration guide. There you should have all the information or at least some of the information you need on Asset Management.

SKF are used as the basis i.e. tracking factor on which to
make allocations i.e. assessments and distributions and to
analyse the structural key figures.
statistical key figures relating to cost centers, profit
centers, and overhead cost orders. statistical key figures
may also be a value representing the services provided by
one particular cost center......
Stat key figures are just that they have no financial impact in
Controlling but may be used for reporting and allocation purposes etc.
Activity type are associated with a sender (usually cost centre with a
specific rate). When an activity posting is made with either CATS or
KB21 a transfer posting is made for the quantity * the sender rate
creating a financial "controlling" only posting between 2 different
objects (sender and receiver)
u can assume that activity type wil always carry
rate against it where as SKF wont have any rate.. It means activity type
is used for both allocation and absorption where as SKF can only be used
for allocation
An internal order is used to accumulate cost for a specific project or task for a specific time period. An internal order is therefore used for a short period with a specific deadline.
Your internal order will usually settle to cost centers (and not visa versa) according to the settlement rule in the order setup.
An internal order can therefore be used to group all the expenses incurred to plan and hold a conference over a 3 month period. The order can be settled on a monthly basis to cost centers.

Sometimes a default JDeveloper library as no Doc Path (or Source Path) configured.
Adding a project library with only a Doc Path (or/and Source Path) configured (so no Class Path) can make the relevant API documentation more easily available in JDeveloper,

- (q1) Why has the "WebLogic 10.3 Remote-Client" library no Doc Path configured by default?
- (q2) Are somehow/somewhere source files available (maybe only of "API related"/non-implementation classes) for the "WebLogic 10.3 Remote-Client" library, so these can be configured in a library Source Path, to make the API documentation even more easily accessible in JDeveloper?

As I write in my initial post, I am able to add a project library with only a Doc Path configured (as shown in library-doc-path-20110529.png),
to "Oracle Fusion Middleware Oracle WebLogic Server MBean Javadoc 11g Release 1 (10.3.5) Part Number E13945-05 "
at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/apirefs.1111/e13945/
So, questions (q1) about a default Doc Path configuration and question (q2) about source files (similar to ADF) remain.

After the status of the delivery is open for transportation planning, it is possible to create a shipment document to schedule the transportation.
Logistics  Logistic Execution  Transportation Transportation Planning  Create  Single document

Enter your transportation planning point and shipment type. Press enter.
Creating the shipment cost document
Use
After the deliveries are scheduled by shipment and the shipment is executed, now it is time to maintain and close the shipment document in order to record all relative information and ready for the shipment cost settlement.
Logistics  Logistic Execution  Transportation Shipment cost  Create  Single document
T.code: VI01.
After creation of shipment cost doc. You settle the Shipment cost.
Go to VI02, enter shipment cost no.and press enter.
Then go to Overview -- Fright cost items, Select hte line item and double click it.
Go as main menu: Itme --> Acc. assignment, You enter G/L acc. and cost center to which the transportation cost will be posted.
On the Standard change, details Freight cost items screen, then check the check box Transfer, which means you will transfer the relative transportation cost to FI/CO, in this case, the system should determined which Purchase Order will used to settle the cost, so after you check the Transfer check box.
Press save button on the current screen.
Shipment cost settlement and documents:
Use
After the shipment cost settled in shipment cost document, it has the following affects:
It creates a service entry sheet that refers to the purchase order determined.
It posts acceptance of services performed.
It creates an accounting document for the accruals.
Further subsequent documents are created in FI.

Where is there good, straightforward installation and configuration docs?

I have installed BI server on a linux box, and the client on a Windows box. we aren't using the default rpd, but rather the OBIA7960, Business Intelligence Applications. I created an 11gR2 database for the obia7960 schema, put the new rpd in OracleBI/server/repository, created the directory under OracleBIData/web. However, there are configuration problems: What nees to be configured on the client box? ODBC? How should the odbc.ini file be configured on the server, if at all? What about the instanceconfig.xml? variously, I'm getting log in errors trying to get into xmlpublisher: oracle.apps.xdo.security.ValidateException. Where is a good source to find examples of what these files should look like?

Thanks for the reply. I have used the 'official' documentation of course, but that is part of the problem. Anyway, yesterday I went through the installation from the beginning. Everything works up to validation the installation, i.e. the bi server check and the client check with nqcmd. However, the steps that need to be done and what configuration needs to be done in odbc.ini, instanceconfig.xml for web, presentation, and scheduler, etc. are unclear once a different rpd is used. Also, on the client side, a Windows box, how much is ODBC used or is it TCP through the Oracle client tools? The environment is this:
Linux Server with BI Server processes and 11gR2 database with BI Applications schema. The rpd is the OBIA OracleBIAnalyticsApps796.rpd. Where does this name have to be set in the configuration of the files on server side and client side?
The client is an appropriate Windows box with the Administrator and other client tools.
The confusion arises in the connection between data sources....the database schema or the rpd? Where and how do those need to be set?
