Configuration Error This Software requires certain hardware or software. .

I installed FCP on my ibook so I could do some work in transit, and got the following error when I tried to open FCP. Is There a way around this?
Configuration Error This Software requires certain hardware or software which is missing - APG graphics card

#29: Need AGP Graphics card
Shane's Stock Answer #29 – Error: “Need AGP Graphics card”
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302667
The Final Cut software is looking for a graphics card type that is required for that version of the software. FCP 4 and FCP 4.5 were released when AGP cards were the requirement. Attempting to open this on a Mac with a PCIe graphics card, such as an Intel Mac, will cause this error. FCP 4.5 is not supported on the Intel Macs. If you happen to have a PowerPC Quad processor Mac and get this error, you can try this hack:
http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/feedback/finalcut_pro_on_oldmacs.html
You can also press the "esc" key as you launch FCP. This enables FCP to open and run, but know that it might not work optimally.
If that doesn’t work, or if you have an Intel Mac, you are going to have to upgrade to a supported version of FCP…and FCP 6, part of Final Cut Studio 2, is the latest version.

  • Quicktime error (this application requires an Extra (Quicktime 3)

I have just updated to the recent version of Director and am in the process of updating my previous files for teaching. Everthing seemed to work in the update process and I published a new Projector for my Mac running latest version of Snow Leopard. However, although the tutorial I created runs correctly when I run it direcly from Director's main program, when I run it from the projector I created I get this error:
    Director Player error
This application requires an Extra (Quicktime 3) that either does not exist or failed to initialize properly. Please make sure
the appropriate extras are in the Extras folder(s).
Before I updated I didn't have an Extras folder. Can someone please advise, simply.
    Mickey

Quicktime 3 is pretty ancient, and Director 11 does not use it.  You can probably get away with simply removing the xtra reference in Modify, Movie, Xtras....  Find the Quicktime 3 xtra and remove it.  Director 11 comes with Quicktime 6 asset which is probably going to be added to your project automatically, so that should be all you need to do.  If your code does something that is specific to Quicktime 3, then you may need to make adjustments to your code.  You also may need to remove and re-import the quictime videos if they fail to play.

  • Error: This application required an Xtra (ActiveX...) that either does not exist or failed

    Hi All,
im having trouble few days now , i hope someone can give me a lead here.
i have a director mx file written in arabic, i open it in Director 11.5, the file behave strangely, very slow publishing process, very slow access to the xtra list.
after publishing (shockwave and html), i open the html, the preloaded start to run but i can see its not reaching 100%, after a while i get the error massage:
"This application required an Xtra (ActiveX...) that either does not exist or failed..." and firebox or IE crashes.
In the movie extra list (Modify menu) i can see all extras, and all have "download if needed", but in ActiveX the "download if needed" grays out. i have no idea why
things i try with no success:
    uninstall and reinstall shockwave player
check the same file in another machine
exclude and include xtras in Publish Settings > Files
    add activex.x32 from other places
    Hope for good news
    Win Xp sp3
    Thanks
    Shay

In the movie extra list (Modify menu) i can see all extras, and all have "download if needed", but in ActiveX the "download if needed" grays out. i have no idea why
Because AX controls aren't SW-safe. You will have to redesign your file to remove the ActiveX control if you want it to run in a browser.

  • Disco 4i Error 'This user requires Create Any Materialized View Sys Priv'

    Hi,
Firstly I will say we are late with moving to Disco 10g, fully understood and constantly remind people of need to upgrade.
Oracle Apps 11i instance, we have upgraded the database 10g.
In Disco 4i Admin, Import folder from Database, we receive Error Message:
*'This user requires Create Any Materialized View System Priviledge'*
Have spoken to number of our DBA's but been unable to resolve this. I have read loads of stuff about similar issues, but no direct hits really help me.
I am guessing we need to logon as SYSTEM db user and execute
    h5. SQL> grant create materialized view to <username>;
    h5. SQL> grant alter any materialized view to <username>;
Please can anyone advise, I am sure it's going to be a DB/Schema owner, as the username; i.e. APPS or EUL_US?
I cannot see it being the fnd_user for the Disco EUL owner, e.g. SYSADMIN or PatStock.
    Thanks
    Mike

    Hi,
If you are doing the import as SYSADMIN then you are connected as APPS so this is the database user that needs additional privilege.
However, the APPS user only needs create materialized view privileges if there are manually created summary folders in the EUL, i.e. summary folders based on materialized views. If you are not using these then the privilege is not required.
The EUL_US user just needs to give Discoverer Administrator privileges to the SYS_ADMIN user. Nothing else should be needed.

  • Error: This dialog requires using the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer 7.0 or newer

Since upgrading Internet Explorer to version 11 this error occurs when attempting to navigate a business related website: "This dialog requires using the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer 7.0 or newer".  Using an
XP machine, there is no issue.  Using any Windows 7 machine and Internet Explorer 11 the error consistently occurs.
Most solutions reference this: .NET Framework problems with Internet Explorer 11 http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn338133.aspx.  The solution is to create the registry key
EnableIEHosting, and references an issue with .NET 4
The problem description and solution fit my current issue, but when I create the new registry key (in both locations), the same issue is happening.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Most solutions
suggest you try Compatibility view (for IE7 Quirks mode emulation) or the Developer Tools, Emulation tab for something else.  (F12, Ctrl-8).
The problem is that the site is not designed to handle a modern browser and then its default is, when it can't recognize a User-Agent string, to assume the worst:  No capabilities.

  • Trying to upgade to 10.9.2 i get the error this upgrade requires OS X 10.9

Hi I have a 11 inch Macbook Air that we bought in 2011. It runs OS 10.7.5. I am trying to upgrade to Mavericks for which i understand 10.9.2 is the latest available version on the App store. I downloaded the .pkg however when i try to install it i get an error saying This update requires OS X version 10.9.
    I am stumped. Any ideas?

As far as I know, CCC now requires a purchase or do you have other info?
I know that SuperDuper is free for an "Erase & Install" but to get the full features you have to purchase. You can do an "Erase & Install" as many times as you like without paying.
I thought that CCC was also free for the first clone as well, but it seems you have to give your credit card first to use their trial version then request a refund.
Since a clone is an important step before upgrading to Mavericks, having a free option might get users to clone their old drive first.
That said, personally, I prefer CCC - for one thing, they will create or update a recovery partition which SD will not.
Since I have the recovery drive by default on my main drive, it's not a big issue for me to have one on my external drive that holds my clone. Good thing we have choices.

  • Powerbook 6,7 (ibook g4?) hard disc died.  Installed new disc.  Ibook G4 restore disc (v10.4) produces error " This software cannot be installed on this computer"  what can I do?

I formatted the drive using the disk utility and restarted and it still gives the same message.

Boot from the restore disc and select Disk Utility from the Installer or Utilities Pull-Down menu.  Take a look in Disk Utility near the bottom when you have the drive (not the Volume under the drive) selected.  Is the Partition Scheme listed as Apple Partition Map?
If not, then you need to correct that by selecting the Partition tab, click "Options" and click the Apple Partition Map radio button, then click the "OK" button and then click the "Partition" button on the DU window.  If you didn't have APM at the beginning of this exercise, that should solve the problem.
Your 6,7 should be either this machine or this one.

  • Configuration error message....

    Greetings!
Recently purchased a refurbished 17" MacBook Pro - complete with 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo. Got all settled in, loaded up Final Cut Pro 4.0, clicked it and got the following message: "Configuration error: This software requires certain hardware or software which is missing".
There is a bullet point with the words "AGP graphics card."
I was under the impression that this computer was good to go out of the box for heavy graphics programs -- Final Cut, Photoshop CS, After Effects, etc.
Did I go wrong? Do I need to put a graphics card in this computer, or is this an error message about which I should be concerned?
    Thanks.

  • Configuration Error when Running

I just installed FCP Studio 5.1. When I try to bring up the program, I get an info box that states:
    Configuration Error
This software requires certain hardware or software which is missing.
-Power Macintosh G4 500 Mhz or dual G4 450 Mhz, or faster.
    I am running a Dual 1.5 Ghz G4, Powerlogix upgrade, OS X 1.4.6 with 1.5 SDRAM.
My FCP Studio is a legal version. FCP and DVD Studio Pro run ok, but even Soundtrack (regular) gives the same error code. Am I missing an installation file or what? FCP 4.5 and Soundtrack Regular ran fine before the install.
    Dual 1.5 G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Found the answer on the Powerlogix web site. Since the upgrade does not properly report the processor speed, Sountrack and SP see the processors as 0Mhz speed. Editing the info file and setting the MinimumCPUSpeed flag for both, fixes the problem.

  • Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 (Configuration Error on Dual Core MacPro)

I just installed my old Final Cut Pro Hd version 4.5 on my new Dual Core Intel Xeon MacPro, and it says exactly this:
    Configuration error
This software requires certain hardware or software which is missing.
•Power Macintosh G4/350 megahertz (MHz), or faster
    •AGP graphics card.
Im sure what I have in my computer is something way more better than what it suggests me having. FCP 4.5 was out like 2 years ago. I looked on the support site and couldn't find anything, is there any updates that make it compatible with my computer?
    Thanks in advance.

Ah, but now you have a mac that uses a different chip...older versions of FCP will not work on the new configuration. You need to upgrade to FCP 5.1.

  • Upgrade to FCP 5.1 -- Configuration error

After upgrading to 5.1 I was able to use FCP without any problems until I shut down the computer. Then when I logged back on and tried to open Final Cut I got this error message:
    "Configuration Error.
This program requires certain hardware or software which is missing.
    Quartz Extreme Support."
My graphics card is a GeForce FX5200. My first thought is that I have to get a new card. But I have another G5 that also has that card in it and that one runs fine with the 5.1 upgrade. The monitors are different, other than that I think everything is the same. Any ideas?
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Thanks for the suggestion. I trashed these preferences:
    com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist
    Final Cut Pro POA Cache
    Final Cut Pro 4.5 Preferences
    Final Cut Pro 5 Prefs
Still have the same error message.

FCP HD is version 4.5 (PPC version). For IntelMacs, you'll need the Universal version; FCP 5.1. See http://www.apple.com/universal/crossgrade for more details on upgrading.
