Configuration Manager 2012 R2 - SRS Reporting Services not configuring Report Server

Hi all,
I am running stand-alone primary site and remote (shared) SQL 2012 SP1 on Windows 2012 R2 Standard. Remote SQL server is currently hosting multiple instances and Configuratoin Manager is running on a custom instance. SCOM databases also co-exist on the same
SQL environment (different instance with SSRS installed & running perfectly).
After setting up the Reporting Services role on Configuration Manager environment,  srsrpsetup.log & srsrpMSI.log states installation is successful. However, when monitoring srsrp.log file, we encounter the below message -
SMS_EXECUTIVE started SMS_SRS_REPORTING_POINT as thread ID 5232 (0x1470).

Steps taken so far -
1. Switched reporting services to run from local system account to domain account.
2. Created new Report Server database on our instance and reconfigured Reporting Services to this DB.
3. Un-installed and re-installed Reporting Services role in Configuration Manager
4. Un-installed and re-installed SSRS on Configuration Manager (dedicated) SQL instance after removing Reporting Services role in CM12.
I have referred couple of links on forum and none seem to help resolve this issue.
Let me know if there is anything specific I missed out from my end. Appreciate any assistance.
Regards,
mittu

It seems that Reporting Services for SCOM and SCCM cannot co-exist on the same server (it sounds like a bad idea anyway)

  • SQL Server Configuration Manager (2012 SP1): "IP All" Setting Not Saving

    I have 4 SQL Server 2012 SP1 clusters, and under Network Configuration ->
    TCP/IP -> Protocol (tab), I am able to switch
    Listen All from Yes to No. However, when I hit
    OK (or Apply), I get the message:
    Any changes made will be saved; however they will not take effect until the service is stopped and restarted.
    OK, fine.
    Now, if I re-open the TCP/IP properties, Listen All is back to
    Yes.
    This happens even after I restart the SQL Server service, and it happens on all 4 instances.
    I have checked the version of Configuration Manager - 2011.0110.2100.060. I've compared this with a (non clustered) SQL Server 2012 where I can flip the
    IP All field at whim, the versions are the same (as are the SQL Server versions,
    11.0.3000.0 Build 7601).
    I've also ensured that under IP Addresses, the one that I want to use has
    Enabled = Yes, all other IPs have Enabled = No.
    Neither BOL nor Google have any useful information for me.
    Has anyone seen this before? Bug or WAD (and I'm doing something wrong)?

    Hi,
    Per
    Case 4: SQL Server is installed in a clustered environment:
    On cluster, you cannot configure SQL Server to listen on a specific IP addresses. You must chose IPALL. The IP addresses on which the cluster instance will be listening on is determined by cluster resources (configurable through Cluster Administrator,
    by adding IP Address resources under SQL Network Name resource).
    Here is a workaround:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/318fca7a-58d1-4f11-81dc-1160fde31280/cant-set-listen-all-to-no-in-sql-2008-r2-cluster

  • Trying to Perform an install of SCSM 2012 SP1 - SQL Analysis Services Not Installed

    I'm performing a clean install of System Center Service Manager 2012 on a Windows 2012 server.   The prerequisite checker told me the Analysis Objects were not installed.   I clicked the link and downloaded the SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis
    Management Objects.   I restarted the install and it still says it's not installed.  I also tried installing the 2012 version of the objects and still no luck.
    I also tried installing both the x86 and x64 versions of these tools.
    I have also tried the same install on a Windows 2008 R2 server and had the same error.  I'm convinced this is a bug in the setup.
    Has anyone else seen this?  Is it a known issue?

    Try to check the log file SCSMSetupWizardxy.log under C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp
    perhaps it could not load Microsoft.AnalysisServices.dll assembly.

  • Service Manager 2012 R2 Views - [mygroups] Token Not Working

    Hi All,
    Anyone else having issues with the [mygroups] token, or am I using it incorrectly?
    In the view builder, I am attempting to view incidents with a status of new and a primary owner set to [mygroups], however it will not allow me to use this.
    If I am using this incorrectly, any suggestions on how to build that view above?
    Thanks,
    Z

    The tokens do not work in the view editor, because they are not values. you'll need to export the MP and change the blocks to use the <Token> XML fromat.  look in the XML definition and see if you can find the criteria for your view. it should
    look something like this:
    <Expression>
    <SimpleExpression>
    <ValueExpressionLeft>
    <GenericProperty Path="$Context/Path[Relationship='CustomSystem_WorkItem_Library!System.WorkItemAssignedToUser']$">Id</GenericProperty>
    </ValueExpressionLeft>
    <Operator>Equal</Operator>
    <ValueExpressionRight>
    <Value>[mygroups]</Value>
    </ValueExpressionRight>
    </SimpleExpression>
    </Expression>
    You'll want to change it to something more like this:
    <Expression>
    <SimpleExpression>
    <ValueExpressionLeft>
    <GenericProperty Path="$Context/Path[Relationship='CustomSystem_WorkItem_Library!System.WorkItemAssignedToUser']$">Id</GenericProperty>
    </ValueExpressionLeft>
    <Operator>Equal</Operator>
    <ValueExpressionRight>
    <Token>[mygroups]</Token>
    </ValueExpressionRight>
    </SimpleExpression>
    </Expression>
    Additionally, you might consider removing the simple expression altogether and using the <In> expression, which can check multiple tokens, but isn't supported by the view editing UI:
    <Expression>
    <In>
    <GenericProperty Path="$Context/Path[Relationship='System_WorkItem_Activity_Library!System.ReviewActivityHasReviewer']$">Id</GenericProperty>
    <Values>
    <Token>[me]</Token>
    <Token>[mygroups]</Token>
    </Values>
    </In>
    </Expression>
    One more thing, take a look at my example path, it isn't looking at a property, but the ID. you might need to adjust your paths to match.

    We are trying to enable ACS Linux Report, but the data is very limited.
    This is the document I found so far:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh212908.aspx
    My question is all reports for Windows are the same as reports for Linux?
    If not, what’s the difference? Any sample report?

    Did you run the
    “C:\Program Files\SystemCenter Operations Manager Cross Platform ACS”->UploadCrossPlatformAuditReports.cmd"
    after you installed ACS for UNIX/Linux? These are the specific reports for UNIX/Linux.

  • Version of SQL Server Express for a Secondary Site in Configuration Manager 2012 R2

    Hi,
    I want to install a secondary site in my Configuration Manager 2012 R2. I want to install the SQL Server Express in a diferente drive. To do so, I want to previous install the SQL Server Express.
    Can I use the SQL Server 2014 Express?
    Thanks in advance...
    Dmsousa

    Sorry, going to be blunt here, but this is why "best practices" are useless. If you don't know the "why" of the best practice and when to apply it, it will cause you to do things that simply aren't necessary (or even harmful) by
    blindly trying to apply them. It is simply is not necessary for secondary sites for perf or any other reason. Also, if this is a VM, then your virtual disks will most likely be on the same physical disks which means you do *not* in any way gain any perf benefits
    anyway (perf benefits come from have additional physical spindles -- logical separation is just that *logical*).
    You have far bigger challenges ahead of you, push the easy button on this one, let ConfigMgr deploy SQL Express for you and move on.

  • Service Manager 2012R2 - Hotfix for Service Manager 2012 SP1 secondary Management server

    Can the hotfix for the issue described here -
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/servicemanager/archive/2013/04/22/service-manager-2012-sp1-secondary-management-server-cannot-set-availability-on-a-health-service-that-doesn-t-exist.aspx
    , be applied to a 2012R2 Service Manager environment?
    My dilemma; In a Service Manager 2012 SP1 environment, I installed a secondary mgmt server, promoted it, then upgraded to R2. This R2 Primary mgmt server has the error described in the TechNet blog.
    The reason this was done, the original primary mgmt server (2012 SP1) resided on the same server as the Portal. This original primary is still at 2012 SP1 with the System Center services disabled.
    Again, can the hotfix for Service Manager 2012 SP1 secondary mgmt servers be applied to a Primary mgmt server (or environment, however the hotfix is run) server Service Manager 2012 R2?
    Thank you,

    Hi,
    Hmm, you should probably log a case for this, but my first thought here would be to install a new SCSM 2012 R2 server and promote that one to the new Primary server, then remove the old ones.

  • Report Server - Error creating Service Application

    I am adding a report server to the farm for a customer.  This is a SharePoint 2010 Foundation Farm with one SQL server, one SharePoint server and I have just added a Report Server to the Farm.
    I installed SharePoint on the report server and added it to the farm. I then installed SQL 2012 Report Services SharePoint Integration Add-on and Database Engine to the Report Server.   I added the Report Services and Proxy via PowerShell and everything
    seemed to be working.   I then configured the Report Services Service Application with the Report database being on the report server and once I clicked submit it just spins and never completed the process. When I look at the event viewer I see three
    errors.
    Error 1
    The Execute method of job definition
    Microsoft.ReportingServices.Sharepoint.SharedService.Service.DoWork.TimerJob threw an exception.
    The HTTP service located at
    http://blablablaReportingServiceBackgroundProcessing.svc is too busy
    Error 2
    The value of UrlRoot in rsreportserver.config is not valid. The default value will be used instead.
    Error 3
    An exception occurred while updating address for connected app. The uri endpoint information may be stale.
    I also noticed that I can not access reporting services configuration manager.  When I go to the reporting service configuration manager and enter the report server as the server name and click find to select the instance I get an error.
    Unable to connect to the Report Server "ServerName"

    Thank you for moving this question to the correct board and looking into my question.
    Here is my setup and what I have done so far.
    SharePoint Server 2010 Foundations(Front End & App Server)
    Installed the SQL Reporting Services Add-On for SharePoint Products
    Installed Reporting Services - SharePoint
    SQL 2008 R2 Database Server (original database server for farm)
    Did nothing to this server just hold the existing content and config database.
    Report Server
    Installed SharePoint 2010 Foundations and attached it to the farm.
    Ran PowerShell Script to add SQL Reporting Service Application and Proxy
    Started SQL Reporting Service
    Installed SQL 2012 including the following components
    Database Engine Services
    Reporting Services - SharePoint
    Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint Products
    Management Tools
    Created a new Reporting Services Service Application - created a new app pool and used the Report server name as the database for the reports
    This is where it would seem to get stuck when I would try to create the service application
    I am very familiar with sharepoint but have not added a report server to the farm before.  Can you tell me what it is trying to do when it created the service application
    Thank you for your time

  • Error Message: The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version. The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.

    I have a web page that contains a ReportViewer control.  I am trying to display a report, which is an .rdl file located on the SSRS server, in this ReportViewer control.  I have set the ReportPath and ReportServerUrl correctly.  I am
    getting an error message.
    Am I suppose to use an .rdlc file rather than a .rdl file?  Does the web server configuration need to use a certain account?
     I am getting the following error message:
    The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version.
    The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.

    Hi bucaroov,
    The error "The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found." means the ReportServerURL configured in the ReportViewer control is invalid.
    Please follow these steps to solve the issue:
    Logon the Report Server machine.
    Open the Reporting Services Configuration Manager.
    Copy the Report Server URL from 'Web Services URL'.
    Logon the application server(in this case, it is the server that host the web page), check if we can use the URL we got from step 3 to access the Report Server. If so, please replace the ReportServerURL in the ReportViewer control with this URL. If it is
    not available, could you please post the error message.
    Additionaly, we don't need to provide the extension for a server report. The ReportPath should be like: /<reports folder>/<report name>

  • An error occurred within the report server database. This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database. mail will not be sent.

    Hii all,
    I have a subscription which used to send report email daily 10 am morning
    now today it does not sent an email the status i s showing above error message ..
    why this occurs ?? at the time of subscription running time ??
    i have checked there is not error of subscription it runs fine ..
    only today errored ..
    Kindly , help me
    Dilip Patil..

    Hi Dilip,
    Based on the error message "An error occurred within the report server database. This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database." it seems the issue is caused by the Report Server catalog databases are
    corrupted.
    To fix this issue, I suggest that you use the Reporting Services Configuration Manager to recreate the Report Server catalog databases. In addition, please make sure report server instance can connect to the report server database. For more details about Configure
    a Report Server Database Connection (SSRS Configuration Manager), please see the following document:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-IN/library/ms159133.aspx
    Besides, if the issue is caused by the connection to the SQL Server Reporting Services Report Server catalog database is timeout. Please refer to the following thread:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/db4ca6c2-5445-4ff9-9f63-e20f3859cc70/error-throwing-microsoftreportingservicesdiagnosticsutilitiesreportserverstorageexception-an?forum=sqlreportingservices
    If the problem is still existed, I would appreciate it if you could give us detailed error log, it will help us move more quickly toward a solution.

  • Getting error : This operation is not supported on a report server that runs in native mode

    Hi,
    I have installed SQLServer2008 Standard Edition in my system.
    Using SSRS 2008.
    I have added
    http://<serverName>/ReportServer/ReportService2006.asmx as web reference in my project.
    If i consume any method in ReportingService2006 am getting below error .
    This operation is not supported on a report server that runs in native mode. ---> Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.OperationNotSupportedNativeModeException: This operation is not supported on a report server that runs in native
    mode.
    How to solve this problem?
    Thanks,
    Thangakumar

    Hi Thangakumar,
    In Reporting Services Web service, there are two endpoints available for managing objects on a report server, ReportServer2005 and ReportServer2006. The
    ReportService2005 endpoint is used for managing objects on a report server that is configured for native mode. The ReportService2006 endpoint is used for managing objects on a report server that is configured for SharePoint integrated mode. From you description,
    your Reporting Services runs in native mode, but ReportService2006.asmx is used for SharePoint integrated mode. If you need to call Reporting Services Web service in native mode, please change the address to:
    http://<serverName>/ReportServer/ReportService2005.asmx
    If you need to call Reporting Services Web service in SharePoint integrated mode, please change the address to:
    http://<Server Name>/<Site Name>/_vti_bin/ReportServer/ReportService2006.asmx

  • Using Web Services on the Crystal Report Server XI to return reports

    <p>Hi,</p><p>I&#39;m trying to setup for the first time a Crystal Reports Server XI R2 and put a couple of reports onto the server.  This is so I can access the reports on the crystal reports server using using the crystal web services and finally display the reports in an ASP.NET web application.</p><p>So far I have installed the server, created a couple of reports, put them on the server, and tested to see that I can access the reports using the Central Management Console.  This all works fine and the reports are returned.</p><p> Ok, now for the bit that&#39;s not working.</p><p> I&#39;ve got a C# ASP.NET web application, and I&#39;ve followed a couple of <a href="http://support.businessobjects.com/documentation/product_guides/cr_net/vs_2005/html/crtsktutorialsotherdynamicpulldownwebservicehelpermethod.htm" target="_blank" title="Adding a Helper Method to Access Crystal Reports Web Services">tutorials</a> to give me an idea of what I should be doing to use the Web Services that are provided:  </p><ul><li>ServerFileReportManager.asmx</li><li>ServerFileReportService.asmx </li></ul><p>However, it appears that when I list the child objects on the crystal server:</p><blockquote><font size="2" color="#008080"><font size="1"><em><font size="2"><p><font size="1">serverFileReport = <font color="#0000ff">new</font> <font color="#008080">ServerFileReport</font>();<br /></font><font size="1">serverFileReport.ReportPath = <font color="#800000">""</font>;<br /></font><font size="1"><br />reportManagerRequest = <font color="#0000ff">new</font> <font color="#008080">ReportManagerRequest</font>();<br /></font><font size="1">reportManagerRequest.ExtraData = serverFileReport.GetExtraData();<br /></font><font size="1">reportManagerRequest.ParentUri = serverFileReport.ToUri();<br /></font><font size="2" color="#008080"><font size="1"><em><br />ReportManagerResponse</em></font></font><font size="1"><em> reportManagerResponse = <font color="#0000ff">new</font> <font color="#008080">ReportManagerResponse</font>();<br />reportManagerResponse = serverFileReportManagerProxy.ListChildObjects(reportManagerRequest);</em></font></p></font></em></font></font></blockquote><p><font size="1"><font size="1">I always get a</font> <font size="2"><font size="1"><em>reportManagerResponse.ReportUris</em></font></font></font><font size="1"> with a count of 0.  Now the thing is I know that I have a couple of reports on the Crystal Server, but for some reason they&#39;re not been picked up.   I must be missing something.</font></p><p><font size="1"><font size="1">Does anyone have any ideas??? <p>I looks like your mixing technologies here.   You are using <strong>Crystal Report Server</strong> and the <strong>Crystal Report Web Services</strong> that come with Visual Studio.</p><p>I know that this might seem like they are the same product, and the naming does seem confusing but I&#39;ll try and make it easy for you to understand.</p><p><strong>Crystal Reports Server</strong> - This is a managed reporting solution which allows you to distribute your reports via the web.  It has features like scheduling and built in security.</p><p>It appears that you have a handle on what Crytal Report Server is from what you have been able to accomplish those far.  You have created your report and published it to Crystal Report Server and viewed it via the Central Management Console.  Crystal Reports Server has two methods for accessing the reports programatically.</p><p>1. The Enterprise SDK</p><p>2. The Web Services SDK</p><p><a href="/node/353">Check out this white paper that compares these two SDKs </a></p><p><a href="/node/256">This paper describes the Web Services SDK.</a></p><p>In the above paper there is a getting started section which points you to the Developer Library which shows you how to install the web services on your Crytal Reports Server machine.</p><p>Crystal Reports Server does not have the Business Object web services installed by default so I would suggest following the directions in the <a href="http://devlibrary.businessobjects.com/BusinessObjectsXIR2/en/devsuite.htm">Developer Library.</a></p><p>The directions wont talk about Crystal Reports Server but these are the directions to get the Web Services installed. </p><p>There is another web services technology which you are writing code for which is called <strong>Crystal Report Web Services.  </strong>This technology comes with Visual Studio 2003.  It provides un-managed reports via webservices.  Un-managed means these reports are not published to Crystal Reports Server.</p><p>So basically your problem is that your code is for <strong>Crystal Report Web Services </strong>but you are trying to view reports published to <strong>Crystal Reports Server.</strong>  To take advantage of scheduling and security and web service access I would suggest using Crystal Reports Server and install the Business Objects Platform webservices to access the reports. </p><p>I hope that&#39;s clear.<br /></p><p>Rob Horne<br /><a href="/blog/10">Rob&#39;s blog - http://diamond.businessobjects.com/blog/10</a></p>

  • Controlling Access to Certain Reports When Using Crystal Reports Server

    Hi,
    I was wondering exactly how security is managed when using Crystal Reports Server?  Do you assign rights to individual reports via user ids in Active Directory?  Or what exactly is used for user authentication?  Is it possible to create local accounts?  Thanks.

    Usually access is controlled by permissions which are set in the CMC (BO web admin tool). You can map 3rd party groups from AD or LDAP and then assign permissions to those groups or set up security with built in enterprise groups as well. You may elect to use any combination of the above. For more complex security models there can use database and row level security built into our meta layers called business views and universes.

    Tim

  • OpsMgr 2012 R2 environment, reports in newly imported MPs not deploying to reporting services

    We have an OpsMgr 2012 R2 environment that has been up and running for several months now. Recently we attempted to import a new MP with reports (the Veeam Report Library) - the import was successful, but the Veeam folder and reports never appear in the
    OpsMgr reporting console or in the report server web page, even after waiting several hours and even overnight.
    We have deleted and reimported the MP with no luck. We have restarted the SRS server with no luck. We have scoured the logs of the servers and found no events that appear to be related, and there are no health states or alerts in OpsMgr indicating any issues.
    We also tried importing a new, different management pack with reports (Windows Logical Disk extension pack) and those reports also have not shown up.
    Note that for both MPs the associated rules/monitors show up as expected, it is only the reports that are an issue. Also, all the previously imported reports are still available and functioning normally, it's only newly-imported reports that are failing
    to show up.
    We previously imported dozens of MPs with no issues and there have been no configuration changes to the environment. With no OpsMgr alerts or health issues, and no seemingly related event log entries we're not sure where to check next to see the progress,
    status, and issues with report deployment, any help in pointing us in the right direction is appreciated.

    Hi,
    Would you please restart data access service and system center management configuration service to check the result?
    In addition, have you checked the operation manager event logs with event viewer, we may find helpful information there to troubleshoot this issue.
    Regards,
    Yan Li
