Configuration Manager 2012 RTM Migration to SP1 CU3 or R2

Dear Pros,
I am planning to upgrade my current site (2012 RTM) to either SP1 CU3 or if possible to R2.
My Questions are :
i) Can I upgrate my Current site directly to 2012 SP1 CU3 or do i need to upgrade to SP1 -> SP1 CU1 - >SP1 CU2 -> SP1 CU3.
We are starting to have some Windows 8.1 clients and Server 2012 R2 on our network. Thus the requirement for SCCM to support those OSes.
ii) Is it possible to upgrade from 2012 RTM to R2 Directly or do i need to hop from SP1 to R2

Ok guys, yesterday i moved my CAS and on Primary to SP1.
My components on my CAS and Primary site are failing.
The link between them is having Errors.
Looking up in the replmgr.log on the CAS i am having no errors. When viewing the rcmtrl.log
on the CAS agian i am having an error pertaining to the Configuration Data.

Deploying Office 365 Pro Plus using System Center Configuration Manager 2012 SP1

Hello,
I am trying to deploy Office 365 Pro Plus to my client machines (more than 100) via. System Center Configuration Manager 2012 SP1. It will use one administrator account for installation. But as per the licensing, we can install Office for up to 5 PCs/Macs
and 5 more Windows tablets/iPads with one Office 365 Pro Plus licenses. If this is the case, then I cannot install Office 365 Pro Plus with one admin account to my 100+ machines, as it will violate the licenses of O365 Pro Plus.
So, what is the alternative approach?

this is incorrect.
There is no licensing restriction/control for the *installation* account at all, the licensing is related to who is *using* Office365ProPlus *after* installation is performed. This control, is implemented by the Microsoft Account, or OrgID, used to sign-in/activate
to Office365 when *using* Office365ProPlus.

Migrating from Marimba 8.1 to Configuration Manager 2012 R2

I have been tasked with architecting a migration from Marimba 8.1 to Configuration Manager 2012 R2 and I noticed that there is almost no material available in the web about this, can someone provide whatever insight information possible?

I agree with you on some of your thoughts, I should've describe the situation better.... I am not trying to migrate anything from Marimba, I am architecting an entire ConfigMgr 2012 R2 infrastructure altogether, what I am trying to do is (because I have
to rationalize and normalize their DSL) see if I can salvage any applications and some level of their customization to convert them into ConfigMgr applications.... they have about 3000 apps and not all of them are in .msi format, Marimba uses a very strange
folder format for this.... trying to see if anyone out there has dealt with this before.

Configuration Manager 2012 SP1 CU4 Console - Content Status very slow

I have a SCCM 2012 SP1 CU4 environment running.
When using the console and viewing the Monitoring / Distribution Status / Content Status it took about 10-15 minutes to get the information.
How can this be speed up a bit ? By adding additional indexes in SQL ?
Any tips, hints are very welcome.

I would run the script from Ola that reports back on the indexe defragementeation and what I normally see as well is that more than one TempDB file increases performance greatly. It is most likely covered in the session mentioned above by Tim.

Streamlined Client Management and VDI with Configuration Manager 2012

Hi,
There is an interesting blog about managing ConfigMgr 2012 Clients in a VDI environment.

But I didn't find any way or description in the blog on how to prepare the client in the base image used for VDI. Do we still have to make the client unique before shutting down the base image? Or will this be done automatically?

For XenDesktop -no you will need to enable them in the client settings (not sure for other virtual
solutions)
In the SCCM Console go to the Administration workspace; click Client Settings. Right click the Default Client Settings and choose Properties
Choose Hardware Inventory and click Set Classes.
Click the Add button and then click Connect.
Enter the computer name of a master image device that has the SCCM client installed.
Enter root\ccmvdi as the WMI namespace and click Connect.
Select CCM_DesktopMachine. Click Ok.

I want to install a secondary site in my Configuration Manager 2012 R2. I want to install the SQL Server Express in a diferente drive. To do so, I want to previous install the SQL Server Express.
Can I use the SQL Server 2014 Express?

Sorry, going to be blunt here, but this is why "best practices" are useless. If you don't know the "why" of the best practice and when to apply it, it will cause you to do things that simply aren't necessary (or even harmful) by
blindly trying to apply them. It is simply is not necessary for secondary sites for perf or any other reason. Also, if this is a VM, then your virtual disks will most likely be on the same physical disks which means you do *not* in any way gain any perf benefits
anyway (perf benefits come from have additional physical spindles -- logical separation is just that *logical*).
You have far bigger challenges ahead of you, push the easy button on this one, let ConfigMgr deploy SQL Express for you and move on.

How Does Configuration Manager 2012 R2 Endpoint Protection Stack Up to the Competition (Bit9, Symantec, McAfee, etc.)?

I have a client in the financial services sector that owns System Center 2012 R2 (just Operations Manager 2012 R2 deployed so far) that is being courted by Bit9 for its "superior" endpoint protection. Can anyone point me to some credible resources
for comparing Microsoft's Endpoint Protection (component of Configuration Manager 2012 R2) to the competition (Bit9, Symantec, McAfee, etc.)?
If Microsoft's Endpoint Protection is "good enough" (and has a credible long term product roadmap), it probably makes sense to deploy that since it has already been purchased/licensed. Any feedback is much appreciated.

[Intune / Configuration Manager 2012 R2] Android Enrollment

I have a problem with my hybrid configuration (Intune / CM12 R2).
I can't enroll Android Devices.
What i've done :
- Subscribe an account to Windows Intune
- Activate AD synchronization
- Change UPN in my Active Directory
- Make a synchronization between my on-premise AD and Azure
- Install Configuration Manager 2012 R2
- Add Intune connector
- Authorize my user collection 'Intune-user' to enroll devices
- Add Windows Intune system role
- Authorize Android management
When i try to enroll my android device (i first add company portal), i can log on with my user but i have a message that say : "We can't add this device. If this message open up again, contact your support ...".
The only clue i have is in the dmpdownloader.log :
ERROR: Service health log: Failed to load Enrollment Policy for accountId *********************************, userId ***********************************
And in the dmpuploader.log :
Ping cloud ... SMS_DMP_UPLOADER

Is there an IPD for Configuration Manager 2012?

I am getting serious of SCCM 2012 and start collecting information about it.
Looking into the recent IPD in Technet I could only find IPD for SCCM 2007 R3.
I am just wondering is there an IPD for SCCM 2012 and where can I find it, or is it coming?

AS the latest published IPD was for OPSMGR 2012 Beta, my own assumption is that there will be no IPD for COnfiguration Manager 2012 published.

Configuration Manager 2012 SP1 Prerequisite Checker returns "Migration active source hierarchy" error

I am getting "Migration active source hierarchy" error in the SCCM 2012 SP1 prerequisite checker on the CM 2012 primary site. The error says "There is an active hierarchy configuration for the migration. Please stop data gathering for each
source site in the source hierarchy." However, actually there is no migration source hierarchy configured and there are no migration jobs displayed in CM 2012 console. We used to configure this feature to migrate CM 2007 to current CM 2012 without service
pack two years ago and we have deleted these configurations.
In migmctrl.log, the following record is being generated every 60 minutes.

How about specifying a source hierarchy with the same name and password of the hierarchy before in the console, then click Clean Up Migration Data?

Configuration Manager 2012 SP1 updates

Hi,
Are there any updates to Config Manager 2012 sp1 other than the Cumulative updates?
I see there are 3 cumulative updates but each say to not install unless a specific fix is needed.
I am not sure if any of the fixes might fix some problem that we might not have today but could later.
Should we just not upgrade or should we apply the CU1, 2 and 3 even though we dont have any specific problems?

There are actually 4 Cumulative updates. The patches are cumulative so you only apply the latest.

As to installing, it depends if you have any currently issues that are addressed by the patches or need to support Windows 8.1 in anyway, in which case you would have to go with CU3 and above.
Personally I like to keep the system up to date but with any update fix there's always the chance of it introducing a new issue,
