Configuration Manager and Change assistant

Anyone has used the configuration manager and change assistant and had any success copying configuration from one system to another? Thanks

I have not done this yet, but could you change it to "xyzzy" and change it back again straight away?

  • Software Configuration Management and Delivery

A client of ours wants to use Designer6i for software configuration management. We set it up, got it working, and have demonstrated such to the client. Oracle's documentation states the one missing piece in 6i is software delivery. Designer9i is supposed to have this piece. I have been searching the documentation and can't seem to find any information describing how it works in 9i. I have read that Oracle believes it's there, but have not found any good examples of how it does this. Has anyone else tried this or found documentation they can pass along? It would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much for your answers!
    @Pushkar:
    No this is not exactly what I meant;
What we want to do is a kind of classical configuration management or at least version control of
development objects like ABAP programs, table definitions, table data etc. that are contained within our SAP development system.
It's not about version management of external documents imported into SAP.
I know that there is a kind of version control via Transports, but this does not cover all classical version control mechanisms; what we are missing there is
    - the possibility of reverting to an older version of an 'object'
    - Branching / Merging mechanisms
    - the possibility to choose which changes I want to release with which transform and which objects
    - view differences between arbitrary versions of an object
I was hoping there is maybe a kind of 'add-on' or maybe even a built-in tool that provides classical version control mechanisms or something similar.
    Thank you for further help,
    Regards,

  • VMM Connection to Configuration Manager and Operations Manager

    Hi,
i was wondering how do i connect Virtual Machine Manager to Configuration Manager. do i need to have operations manager installed and up and running? or can i connect it to SCCM directly as it is being the main component.
From my understanding of the VMM is that it is used for provisioning and controlling of Hyper visors (cytrix, Vmeare, etc.).
why do i need to go through the Operation Manger? why can i not connect directly to SCCM?
whats the Advantages of using operations manager instead of using CM?
    Thanks.

VMM has no direct link to Configuration Manager at all.
VMM has a direct link to Operations Manager, which can be integrated and monitor the entire fabric (compute, networking and storage).
The synergy here is that every thing in VMM, will get exposed for monitoring in SCOM.
Configuration Manager has a different approach - as VMM is responsible for the
datacenter - while Configuration Manager manages the clients and eventually applications within the servers/clients.

We got the configuration upload to work today and it did show up rather fast on Metalink 3. What we ended up having to do, was to install the software twice on the server once in the c:\sba80\gtwysrvr and once in the c:\sba80\siebsrvr directory.

  • Service Manager, Configuration Manager and Orchestrator 2012 Database

    Hi,
I have installed Configuration Manger 2012 R2(CM) on a system and i want to install Service Manager 2012 R2(SM), and was wondering if it would be possible to point to the database of CM while installing the SM 2012 R2 or do i need to install
    a separate database.
And similarly if i want to install the Orchestrator would it be possible to point to the database of CM while installing the Orchestrator 2012 R2 or do i need to install a separate database.
    Thanks

Firstly, each System Center component (SCOM, SCCM, etc.) has their own database(s). I believe that you are asking about using the same SQL server, or possibly the same SQL server instance.
The answer to your question would depend on a few things, like if you are trying to do this in a lab/POC, or in Production. Here is an article about coexistence of System Center components: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj851033.aspx.
Although it applies to System Center 2012 SP1, I would believe the same can be applied to the R2 version.
Hopefully that gets you started in the right direction.
Also, note what it says in this article (http://www.derekseaman.com/2013/06/teched-2013-system-center-config-mgr-2012-sp1.html), in the SQL Guidelines,
specifically "Do NOT combine databases from other system center products. Don’t build a giant SQL cluster for all system center products."

  • Configuring apache and changing default directory

    I'm a new-bee at this..
I started Web sharing but I would like to change location..
    And Configuring apache.. :o)
also would like to learn more about apache for beginners LOL :o)
    Thank you.. :o)

I edit httpd.conf as you noted.
    #DocumentRoot "/Users/imac_willie/Sites"
    DocumentRoot "/Volumes/iMac-2/MyWebpages"
    #<Directory "/Users/imac_willie/Sites">
    <Directory "/Volumes/iMac-2/MyWebpages">
    Not working..
In the System Preferences -> Sharing -> Web Sharing
I click on http://10.0.1.2/~imac_willie/ it still points to "/Users/imac_willie/Sites"
The DocumentRoot is the default web page. It does not control the ~/imac_willie location. I'm not sure what you change for that, so I would suggest going to Google for that information.
I did see /private/etc/apache2/extra/httpd-userdir.conf referenced in /etc/apache2/httpd.conf, however, looking in that file only seemed to specify 'Sites' as in ~username/Sites.
That file also mentions /private/etc/apache2/users/*.conf, as if maybe you can have some kind of per username.conf file that somehow does something, but I do not know what should be in that file, as my system does not have any examples. Again, maybe Google would be helpful.
When I click on http://10.0.1.2/ "Error Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server."
I'm guessing that the permissions on /Volumes/iMac-2/MyWebpages did not allow user _www access to the files (_www is the account that apache runs under).
What are the permissions for /Volumes/iMac-2 and /Volumes/iMac-2/MyWebpages and /Volumes/iMac-2/MyWebpages/index.html ???
Then again, what do you have against /Library/WebServer/Documents?
Nothing in this directory but "index.html.en"
Well you are welcome to put your own stuff there if you like.
NOTE: I'm not an Apache expert, and I do not play one on TV. I have messed with Apache just enough to have a group web site on my Mac at work (in /Library/WebServer/Documents), but not much beyond that.

  • Allow users to manage and change Automatic Update settings

    Server SBS 2011 SP 1
Couldn't find a thread that helped. Hoping to get some light on my situation.
The client has users who they'd like to have full control of their client PCs Windows Automatic Updates. The users would like to go into Control Panel and check updates at will, set times for auto updates to their liking. I haven't found the appropriate
GPO setting to allow users to change update settings.
Is that possible? Will creating an OU without a linked GPO and blocking inheritance provide the answer?
    Thanks ALL!

the dedicated SBS forums might bet better for your question (since SBS can be finicky about some settings)
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?category=sbsserver
It will likely depend upon how the implementation is currently setup (there could be various things in place, in a customised fashion).
Basically, when using GPO to deploy WUAgent settings for WSUS, the user interface for WU is disabled for the end-user - this is how classic domain GP works, and is intended to work. (i.e. if the domain admin deploys a setting, end-users are unable to change
    that)
You may be able to easily identify the relevant domain GPO that is delivering this setting, but you would (presumably) want to only change the single setting relating to AUOptions, and leave the other settings as they currently are (i.e. continue to use
WSUS to serve the update approvals and update files/patches.
Creating a new OU and not linking/inheriting, may cause other unintended effects/complexity.
(it might be the only way to achieve your goal, but analysing which GPOs are carrying which settings, and then which GPOs you *do* need to be linked/inherited, will be an important step)

  • CPI2.x Configuration Management and avoiding out-of-sync configs

    Hi,
I did'nt found an option to can save the configs after deployment as in LMS neither as a global setting nor as a deployment task setting.
Aside letting changes unsaved is not a good network operation practice, it bring the configs in out-of-sync state at the archive.
Also "System Settings => Inventory => Enable Syslog and Traps on device" does not save the configs and bring everything into out-of-sync state in the archive.
Q1: Is it necessary to write this to all your templates, if you need to globaly enable "config save after deployment" with a "nice" scaleability?
    #MODE_ENABLE
    write memory
    #MODE_END_ENABLE
Q2: Why are system CLI templates copy&paste protected in its content?

  • Can OpsCenter act as configuration managment? (keep server ssh keys for rebuild)

I'm very new to OpsCentre. Can it act as a sort of configuration managment tool, eg keeping ssh keys (or other host-particular config files) of a server, so in case the server is (or has to be - Disaster Recovery) be rebuilt, the old ssh keys can be restored on it by OpsCentre as is it is re-built (re-provisioned, I guess is how they call it).
    Very grateful for advice!

Enterprise Manager (EM) Ops Center (OC) is not a Configuration Management(CM) tool. Ops Center is a "end-to-end" infrastructural System Management tool (not restore a previous configuration). It's covered all task of management infrastructure (Oracle) stack. Read a welcome message of EM OC Doc Library.

  • Updating databae password in Business view manager and CMC

    Hi All ,
We are carrying out a step of changing the database password on which the Infoview reports run.Currently the solution i know is to log on to Business View manager and change the password manually for each promopt. similarly i have to log on to CMC and go to report >Process>Database and enter the new password.
We have 85 reports and their corresponding promopts. So we have to manually enter the password upto 150 times.
Could you you please advise on a more efficient way to change the password.
    Thanks.

  • Cannot enable TCP/IP through the Configuration Manager

    Hi,
I am using SQL Server 2008 sp1 Developer Edition.  The database engine service is running and the SQL browser service is running. It is set to allow remote connections.
When I open SQL Server Configuration Manager and expand the SQL Server Network Configuration mode and select Protocols for <server name>, it shows Shared Memory as Enabled and all others as Disabled.
If I right click on TCP/IP and select Enable, I get a warning stating that the changes will be saved but will not take effect until after I restart the service. When I click OK on the warning popup to close it, it still shows TCP/IP as Disabled.
After I restart the service I return to the Protocols screen and check the value of TCP/IP. It is still Disabled. I am still unable to connect to it remotely.
Configuration Manager is not allowing me to enable TCP/IP. I need to do this. I looked for an alternate way to enable TCP/IP but have not been able to find one that works.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi,
It seems, you do not have enough permission for modifying values.
    a. Try to change using sysadmin account.
    b. Open configuration manager with "Run as Administrator" method and try to modify the changes.
If you will not able to modify using sysadmin, do below steps. Please note that changing registry will cause lot of issues.
    1. append existing value with "tcp" (ie eg  "tcp np")
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\InstanceName\MSSQLServer\SuperSocketNetLib
    \ProtocolList
    2. Create a new key "TCP" in below path
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQLServer\SuperSocketNetLib\
    3. Create a string value "TcpPort" in "TCP" and desired value.
Please compare your other server for registry reference.

  • ETL parameters tab empty in BI Applications Configuration Manager

    Hi all,
I am trying to do a POC in BIApps 7.9.5.2 . After installing and configuring the Configuration Manager, i am not able to see any pre-built parameters which are supposed to be as per the documentation.
When do these parameters get generated ( i mean which step of installation / configuration) ? So that i can redo that.
I re-ran the biappstx_setup.sql hoping that the parameters metadata is populated into DATA_BIAPPSTX schema through this script but it did not help.
Can someone throw some light upon this
    Thanks,
    Sid

Can someone please assist in answering the issue that has been raised above.
I too have installed configuration manager and upon logging in the execution plans and subject areas are blank and not populated. The installation is suppsed to be bundled to Oracle EBS ETL execution plans and subject areas.
if someone could please assist that would be greatly appreicated

  • Why when I try to Build === Configuration Manager === Active solution platform === New does not open up a platform configuration window???

I have read that in order to process my .xlsx file using Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 Connection String I need to create a "x86" Active Solution Platform.
Welllll, when I <Right-Click> on my Solution in Microsoft Visual Studio, and <Click> on
Configuration Manager and then <Click> the Active solution platform
and choose <New...> absolutely nothing happens. How can I try and create a new
Active solution platform if nothing happens and I don't get a dialog box or window?
Am I doing something wrong here?
Do I have a Setting that is incorrect?
Thanks for your review and am hopeful for a reply.
    ITBobbyP85

    Hi ITBobbyP85,
After testing the issue in my SSIS project, I also couldn’t add a new Active solution platform in the SSIS project.
As per my understanding, I think the Active solution platform doesn’t supported in Business Intelligence projects (SSAS, SSRS and SSIS). If the project is application project(C#, VB, etc.), by default, the target platform is x86. And we can also configure
the project to target to a 64-bit platform. For more details about how to configure projects to target platforms, please see:
