Configuration manager install workstation - no shortcut links server 2008R2

pt: 8.51.09
server 2008 r2
When I select install workstation client on server 2008, the installation completes successfully. When I check "all programs" menu in windows 2008 r2, there is no menu item for "peoplesoft 8.51.09". Yes, I do have admin access and I have tried "run as administrator" option
I do not have any problem installing in my XP machine. Any ideas what the problem is with server 2008 R2.
FYI

I had the same problem on a Windows 7 machine (64bit). Not only did I not have shortcuts, I did not seem to have any programs installed despite a successful completion message. I was installing tools 8.50.18. For one user, I ended up installing Oracle Virtual Box, then loading XP on that. A waste of a new computer if you ask me. I chalked it up to the PeopleTools version not being compatible with the OS. Let me know if you discover anything.

  • How to configure management authentication on IAP using Tacacs Server?

    Requirement:
Instant access points come with default username and password i.e  admin/admin.  This does not go long way, as the IAP start finding their place in campus and corporate networks.
With many administrators managing and monitoring the clustered IAP networks, TACACS or Active Directory based authentication is more useful.
    Solution:
Keep this in view, IAP development teams have integrated TACACS and Radius based management authentication.
    Configuration:
Follow the below steps to configure radius authentication in IAP:
    Login to IAP web interface
Select "System" from the main menu and then click on "Admin" tab
Under local authentication, select as "Authentication Server"
Under the "Auth Server 1" Select "New Server"
Filling the name, IP address and shared key for Tacacs server and click OK.
    Verification
Logout of the IAP web interface and try logging in using the username and password on TACACS server.

I was having troubles with this as well when a customer had an older Aruba Controller and 2 Access Points. We went with a couple IAP-205s and needed LDAP integration. Using the above configuration there were some additional items needed. I found that I needed the DISPLAY NAME of the admin for the Admin-DN. I had created a user with the first name Aruba and the last name LDAP. This made the DISPLAY NAME "Aruba LDAP". This is what needs to be in the CN= for the Admin-DN.I also found there is a difference in using the CN= and OU=Currently our admin account is in the Users group which is a “Container”. Our actual user accounts are stored in an Orginizational Unit with sub OUs as well. So the Admin-DN needed the CN=Users and the Base-DN needed the OU=MyUserOU.For the windows machines I had to download and install the Aruba GTC Shim because the customer was previously using GTC and they were not going to a RADIUS server at the moment. My Android phone and IPHONE did not need any additional addins for the authentication.  The windows laptop I am using I needed to manually create a wireless profile with… Security Tab >“Choose a network authentication method:”Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP)Settings >Select “Trusted Root Certification Authorities”GeoTrust Global CASelect Authentication Method:EAP-Token (This is the Aruba GTC Shim) This allowed me to use my domain login credentialsUsernamePasswordDomain (This is blank because the Base-DN already has this, if anything is put in here the authentication fails)

  • SSRS Database Configuration Manager Error - Could not connect to server: The type initializer for 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection' threw an exception

I'm Getting the "Could not connect to server: The type initializer for 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection' threw an exception" Error on an existing Instance of SSRS that had been working previously (lots of installs/patches since).
Any time I try to hit the "Test Connection" button on existing connections or create new ones from the SSRS Config Mgr., it throws that error.
I know the SQL Server connectivity works (I have SSMS installed on there and can cut and paste server Login to connect). The problem is I can't really get any more details on the error...Event Viewer isn't logging anything, I have upped the trace level
to 4 in the reportingservicesservice.config file, I have even watched it with procmon and nothing obvious pops up.
Let me know if anyone else has been down this path and what they have tried.

    Hi BillOlive,
Based on my research, the issue may be related to user access permission. You can refer to the following method to troubleshooting the issue:
Open C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\CONFIG folder | right click on the machine.config file | Properties | Security | make sure your domain account has FULL CONTROL permission on this file.
If above steps still do not work, please backup your machine.config file to somewhere else and replace with the attached one from my Windows Server 2008 environment.
Alternatively, app.config file also may cause the same issue. There is a similar issue, you can refer to it.

I try to install Framemaker 8 on WS2008R2 and it goes until the application registration and fails and then rolls back to remove it.

  • Broken dropdowns in SQL Server Configuration Manager

I recently installed a new virtual VMWare machine for development purposes. The machine has Windows 8.1 (64 bit), Visual Studio 2013 and Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition, all with latest updates.
Today I wanted to create a new Alias in the SQL Server Configuration Manager. I have previously done this for MS SQL 2012 on Windows 7 32 bit and it was straight forward. But on Windows 8.1 I was unpleasantly surprised. All dropdowns in SQL Server Configuration
Manager properties are broken - they are narrow and do not display any options. Here is a screenshot:
I thought that only the Protocol dropdown is broken, but I noticed the same issue with other dropdowns, even for simple Yes/No values:
I've heard from some people that some programs render broken on Windows 8 (one example was Office Live Meeting which has cropped configuration dialog) but haven't seen something like this before.
I asked some of my work colleagues and two of them reported the same problem. In one case it's on Windows 7 64 bit, but this person says that some months ago he didn't have the issue. Maybe some Windows or SQL Server update broke it.
If it matters, I'm running it on a virtual machine with 1366x768 resolution and DPI setting is on 100%.
Somehow I managed to select values blindly using arrow keys and enter. This means the values are actually there but the dropdown does not render them at all. It feels so awkward to be unable to see what I'm selecting.
    Product versions are as follows:
    SQL Server Configuration Manager: 2011.0110.2100.060
    SQL Server: 11.0.3128.0
What is wrong with these dropdowns and how do I fix them?

    Hi,
I was able to reproduce this issue on my machine as well. It has SQL Server 2012 SP1 and Windows 8.1 installed.
The issue happens when I add the SQL Server Configuration Manager as a snap-in to MMC.exe. It works fine if I launch the SQL Server Configuration Manager from the shortcut which installed by SQL Server in the Start Menu\Programs\Microsoft SQL Server 2012\Configuration
    Tools folder.
To get around this, you need to launch the SQLServerManager11.msc in C:\Windows\SysWOW64 rather than C:\Windows\System32. Use the below command:
    MMC  %windir%\syswow64\SQLServerManager11.msc
The issue has been reported on Microsoft Connect:
    https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/747902/configuration-manager-snapin-dropdownlists-are-broken-empty-and-gray
Sorry for the inconvenience you have experienced and thank you for your understanding and continued support.
    Thanks.

  • SQL Server configuration manager is empty

Hi.  I am getting a timeout when I try to start SQL Agent on my local machine.  I went to the Configuration Manager to investigate but the box is empty except for SQL Server Browser.  Shouldn't all of my services be listed here?  (Integration
Services, SQL Agent, etc)?  I attached a screenshot for a reference.
While I have this question opened, can someone help me with why I can't start SQL Agent?  I am getting a "timeout" error.  I've been able to start SQL Agent in the past.  The only thing I did was install SP2 for SQL Server 2012.
     Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Craig

    Hi CBLEV,
Please follow the steps in this
blog to troubleshoot the issue that SQL Server Configuration Manager is missing services.
When SQL Server Configuration Manager works properly, please start SQL Server Agent Service from it. If you still fail to start SQL Server Agent Service, for further analysis, please help to post the full error message from SQL Server ErrorLog and Windows Event
    log.

  • SQL Server Configuration Manager snap in not getting created by Microsoft Manager Console

I just installed SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services.  I want to enable FILESTREAM so I can install the AdventureWorks sample database.  The instructions at this page:  http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc645923.aspx say:
On the Start menu, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft SQL Server 2008, point to Configuration Tools, and then click SQL Server Configuration Manager.
When I open SQL Server Configuration Manager I get an error message:  "MMC could not create the snap in, the snap in might not have been installed correctly.  Name:  SQL Server Configuration Manager."  Then it gives me a CLSID.
On this page:  http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms174212.aspx it says:  "Microsoft Management Console (mmc.exe) uses the SQLServerManager10.msc file in the Windows System32 folder to open SQL Server Configuration Manager."
I looked in the System32 folder and, sure enough, the file SQLServerManager10.msc is in there.  It's XML inside the file.
Please help.  I really need to get this SQL Server Configuration Manager working so I can enable FILESTREAM data and install the database.  I appreciate any help you can give.
    --goldenthroat

    I'd try this first;
Go to the Run from the Start menu and type mmc and press enter to open an empty console. Under the File menu select "Add/Remove Snap-in". Click "Add" under Console Root and select the "Microsoft SQL Enterprise Manager" snap-in. Close windows until you are back to the mmc, and you can rename the "console1.msc" to default name which is "SQL Server Enterprise Manager.MSC" and save it under C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn (Default location of SQL Server 2000) - Obviously you want your 2008 installation folder and unfortunately I don't have it so I couldn't point you to it... http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/

  • Manage Mobile Devices in Configuration Manager

    Hello how are you?
I want to deploy applications, Updates and uninstalls applications on devices:
    IOS
    Windows Phone 8
    Windows 8.1
    Androi
I see that there are four methods that are:
    Enrollment by Windows Intune
    Enrollment by Configuration Manager
    Mobile device client legacy
    Exchange Server connector
of the four methods which support such devices?
My client does not want to use Windows Intune is possible with any other method???

If your client does not want to use Windows Intune then they will not be able to carry out the management they require using Microsoft products.
Note that you can use Intune on it's own to manage mobile devices. However, for a richer management experience, it's better to integrate Intune with ConfigMgr.

I did search everywhere but still I didn't find anything, please help me resolve this issue. I downloaded Sql server management studio 2014 from here-> http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-in/evalcenter/dn434042.aspx
Inside `win+r` as i type `services.msc` I'm unable to see any sql or service into it.

I downloaded sql server management studio 2014 from the official website. But when I open the Sql server 2014 Configuration Manager there are

Of course not, SSMS = SQL Server Management Studio is just a tool/frontend, not a Service. You have to install SQL Server database engine.

You need to have an infrastructure as a pre-requisite for a portal type OAS installation.

  • Configuration Manager 2012 R2 - SRS Reporting Services not configuring Report Server

    Hi all,
I am running stand-alone primary site and remote (shared) SQL 2012 SP1 on Windows 2012 R2 Standard. Remote SQL server is currently hosting multiple instances and Configuratoin Manager is running on a custom instance. SCOM databases also co-exist on the same
SQL environment (different instance with SSRS installed & running perfectly).
After setting up the Reporting Services role on Configuration Manager environment,  srsrpsetup.log & srsrpMSI.log states installation is successful. However, when monitoring srsrp.log file, we encounter the below message -

    2. Created new Report Server database on our instance and reconfigured Reporting Services to this DB.
    3. Un-installed and re-installed Reporting Services role in Configuration Manager
    4. Un-installed and re-installed SSRS on Configuration Manager (dedicated) SQL instance after removing Reporting Services role in CM12.
I have referred couple of links on forum and none seem to help resolve this issue.

It seems that Reporting Services for SCOM and SCCM cannot co-exist on the same server (it sounds like a bad idea anyway)

  • Linked Server [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified

Hi  I have SQL2012 installed on my local machine and have also installed MySQL 5.6.23 installed with a test database.
I also have my SQL connector installed and MYSQL ODBC Driver 3.51.
Which happily connects to the Mysqldb.
The Datasource Name : mySQL conn
    TCP/IP Server : localhost and Port :3306
    User root
    with pwd
On the SQL side I have used the following
    EXEC master.dbo.sp_addlinkedserver
      @server = N'MYSQLSRV',
      @srvproduct=N'mySQL conn',
      @provider=N'MSDASQL',
      @datasrc=N'mySQL conn'
However when I try to selet using open query
SELECT * FROM OPENQUERY ( [MYSQLSRV], 'SELECT * FROM students' )
    it comes back with
OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "MYSQLSRV" returned message "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified".
    Msg 7303, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "MYSQLSRV".
I cant understand what I have done wrong .   Any help in this would be great as Ive hit a bit of a brick wall

    Hi Robert3975,
In addition to other post, please also note the following things.
    1. If you use the 32-bit driver on a 64-bit machine, please run the 32bit version of "odbcad32.exe" by running "c:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe"
     from Start/Run menu and
create your ODBC DSN. However, for the 64-bit driver, use c:\windows\system32\odbcad32.exe to create your ODBC DSN. For more details, please review this similar
    thread.
    2. Expand the folder Providers under Linked server directory in SSMS and go to properties of MSDASQL provider and configure it properly as described in this blog:
Creating Linked server to MYSQL from SQL Server.

  • Verifying Server Connection in Configuration Manager

I am trying to deploy ES3 on Weblogic 10.3.6 and am having a problem with Configuration Manager. When I Verify Server Connection, the CM spins for a bit then comes back with a ALC-LCM-100-011 error, Cannot Connect to Application Server.
In the CM log there is this:
com.adobe.livecycle.cdv.CDVInternalException[ALC-LCM-100-011]: Cannot connect to application server.
Application server host or port may be invalid.
Caused by: java.io.IOException: Unable to resolve 'weblogic.management.mbeanservers.domainruntime'. Resolved 'weblogic.management.mbeanservers'
I know the info is correct, in fact when I intentionally use a wrong password or account the CM immediately returns that the info is wrong.
My WL architecture has a WL domain with distributed development and staging managed servers (no clusters). The Admin server is standalone, as are the two managed servers. I am attempting to install on one of the managed servers.
    Any hints here? Thanks!

See the link http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/10.0/PrepareInstallSingle/WS624e3cba99b79e1229e967b2 12eea97f932-7ffe.html . It has the below text :-
Two primary startup scenarios are available for WebLogic:
Using Node Manager and configuring through the Administration Server (recommended)
Directly starting the Managed Servers with configurations in the StartManagedWebLogic scripts
To use the automatic configuration features of Configuration Manager (the recommended option), you must use the Node Manager and configure through the Administration Server.
If you are directly starting the Managed Servers, you can still use the automatic configuration features of Configuration Manager. However, you must manually enter the Configuration Manager changes into the StartManagedWebLogic scripts. For the appropriate steps, see Installing and Deploying LiveCycle for WebLogic .
I think, if you want to use configuration manager for authomatically configuring the managed servers, you have to supply the admin server port while verifying the connection for weblogic server.

I managed to fix my issue by coping the Client, ClientUpgrade, and Scripts from the files from SCCM install discs folder SMSSETUP to c:\program files\Microsoft Configuration Manager folder.  I noticed that some of the files in the scripts
folder was missing and I copied the other folders over because I felt that maybe my local copy of the Client installer where missing some key files as well.  Once I did that and disabled software update push, restarted the wsus computer, and re-enabled
the software update push it was able to publish the client and start installing it that way.
I thing the initial log messages where pointing me in the wrong direction for a few hours because I was thinking it was permissions as well and kept trying to figure that out but in the end I do not believe any of that was the reason I was receiving the
    same error as you where.
