  • Problem in configuring IPv6 interface with default  Router lifetime.

I'm facing Problem in configuring IPv6 interface with default

I'm also see an unusual behavior that even after configuring accept_rtadv=0,
    the ipv6 address is configured.
    Please help in out .

Mac OS 9 does not support IPv6. While you can have IPv6 on your network, a Macintosh running Mac OS 9.2.2 or earlier cannot make connections to services using this network protocol.
To use IPv6 on a Macintosh, you need Mac OS X 10.1 or later (as far as I know).

  • Help. How to configure ASA5515 as 'one armed router' for access to DHCP server on a different VLAN

    Hi,
    My setup
         router > ASA5515(ver8.6) > 4 SGE2010p switches
I want to put the guest WiFi users on a separate network. I have layer 2 switches and want to configure the ASA5515 as a 'router on a stick' setup for the guest vlan to have access to the DHCP server on the native vlan.
    I have
    1. created a sub-interface for the inside interface and enabled intra-interface traffic.
    2. A static route on the ASA point the guest network to the switch.
What else do I need to configure on the ASA for inter-vlan routing?
    ASA related config:
    interface GigabitEthernet0/1
     nameif inside
     security-level 100
     ip address 10.15.xx.1 255.255.252.0 standby 10.15.xx.2
    interface GigabitEthernet0/1.2
     vlan 100
     no nameif
     no security-level
     ip address 10.100.xx.1 255.255.255.0
    C    10.15.xx.0 255.255.252.0 is directly connected, inside
    S    10.100.xx.0 255.255.255.0 [1/0] via 10.100.xx.2, inside

Thanks for the quick response Reza.
Actually that command is already there. Didn't include it in my post.
So I am guessing my ASA config is correct.
I am having trouble setting up the trunk ports on the layer2 SGE2010P switch for trunk port.
I am used to command line layer3 switches (CLI is wasy) but not familiar with these switches GUI. I am going through the config guide right now.
Could you help me with that too?
Not to bother you with a completely different issue though.
    Thanks again!

  • Configuring wireless on cisco 877w router

    Hi all
I have a Cisco 877W wireless/ADSL router and having great difficulty with configuring wireless on this router. Here is a quick summary.
    1. The ADSL is configured to obtain public IP from the ISP
    2. Default interface vlan 1 is configured with an IP address
    3. I went into vlan database, tried to configure multi vlans and the router prompted me that it can only have max 2 vlans. Hence what's the use of up to 16 different SSID using wireless?
    4. I've setup DHCP scope on the router to give out IP address to clients (both wireless and wired)
    5. I'm able to configure WPA-PSK on the router and was able to connect wirelessly to the router but I won't be able to obtain an IP address from the router
    6. There are two scenarios that I'd like to do:
    A. Setup wireless to connect to the same subnet as what's on vlan1
    B. Setup wireless to connect to a different subnet to vlan1
For the life of me, I could not find docs on Cisco web site that shows me how to exactly this. I found some documents that use interface F0 as a trunk port and treat the interface Dot11Radio0 with sub-interfaces. I don't connect this router to a switch (standalone router) so how can I do this? Please point me to some docs.
Thanks in advance for your help.

My configuration works for wireless no authentication, but failed for WPA-PSK:

  • Having issues configuring DHCP and with Redundant router

    Hello everyone
I am new to Cisco and I am having few problems in configuring my topology in Packet tracer.
I am having redundancy in router and swithes both,
I have assigned one layer2 2960 switch as a VTP server and asssigned VLANs from that switch then assigned ports to the hosts in access layer switches.
Problem 1:  If I take my Router1 off I am unable to ping so the pupose of having redundant router does not serve the pupose.
Problem 2 : I need to assign DHCP server for the users who will be connecting wirelessly with Access Points, so can I configure DHCP on Access Points which I am unable to do so in Packet tracer any idea how? / Or shall I configure the DHCP on Router1 and Router2 and exclude the addresses I have assigned to all the hosts connected using ethernet.
Also how can I configure Email server in this tolpolgy and where?
    Thank you
    A.K

    Hi Asif, Jeff is right.
    (1) You need to configure either HSRP (Hot standby routing protocol) or VRRP (Wirtual routing redundancy protocol), or GLBP (Gateway load balancing protocol).
With either of this config, you will be able to configure 1 logical IP address, which will act as a gateway on your computers. However, both routers will need different IP's (all within the same subnet). You will also need to create multiple HSRP groups to support all your VLAN's. So one HSRP group per VLAN. The logical IP in the HSRP group will act as the default gateway on computers within the VLAN.
Though I don't think packet tracer supports any of the above configs - FYI it's part of the CCNP Switch sylabus. So the above explaination will make sense after you've got a good understanding of HSRP, VRRP and/or GLBP.
    (2) I would recommend setting both the Router as a DHCP server, and configure the Access Point (AP) with a static IP (disable NAT and DHCP on the AP)
    (3) In packet tracer, choose the Server icon and check it's properties. You should find an option to enable EMAIL server. Connect it to any of the Distribution layer switches.
Hope this helps get you started on the learning curve :-)

  • Can I use Time Capsule only as a WiFi backup disk w/out having to configure it as my main router?

I already have an Airport Extreme that works great. Can I use Time Capsule ONLY as a WiFi backup disk w/out having to configure it as my main router with my Internet modem?

Can I use Time Capsule ONLY as a WiFi backup disk w/out having to configure it as my main router with my Internet modem?
Yes, you have two options here, each with advantages and disadvantages.
Option 1...connect the Time Capsule to your AirPort Extreme using an Ethernet cable connection. Turn off the wireless on the Time Capsule since your AirPort Extreme is already providing wireless.
Advantages...easy to configure, you can backup either over wireless or plug directly into one of the Ethernet ports to backup large files 3-5 times faster than wireless.
Disadvantages...none, except it requires a wired Ethernet connection to the AirPort Extreme.
Option 2....configure the Time Capsule as a wireless only hard drive.
Advantage.....you can locate the Time Capsule anywhere you want as long as it can receive a good wireless signal from the AirPort Extreme.
Disadvantages....harder to configure, backups will occur only over wireless.

  • Please help me in configuring a Cisco 2800 series router!

Hi! I have to configure a new router with a static route. No routing protocol will be used. I just have to set default route on it and NAT. My senior Network Engineer has asked me to configure this router. There's an apartment where our Overseas employees stay, earlier this apartment had a broadband connection which was further divided through the APs(Cisco Wireless Access Points) and made usable to around 20 users. Now, they have bought in their own lease line and I have to configure this router. We just have to connect it with the ISP using Ethernet (not serial link). I would be so so grateful if you can just type in complete configuration for this. Thanks a ton in advance!

  • Configuring Solaris 8 Sparc w/router and cable modem

I recently purchased a Sun Ultra 10 with Solaris 7
pre-installed. I decided to immediately upgrade to
Solaris 8. The operating system has installed properly
    so far.
However, I'm at the point now where I am entering
information to allow Solaris to connect to my network
and thus the Internet, and the combinations I have tried
    don't work.
I use a cable modem service with a Netgear RT314
four-port router. It functions in a standard way - the
cable modem is 192.168.0.1 and shows up on my
WinXP PC (in ipconfig /all) as the DNS server and
gateway server. On the PC, for "Connection-specific
DNS suffix", I see nc.rr.com (my ISP).
Solaris 8 wants to know my domain name, as well as
my DNS server. I don't know what domain name to give
it. I have tried nc.rr.com, but when I enter that plus
192.168.0.1 as the DNS server, I end up receiving this
message: ""Unable to find an entry for dchppc3 with the
    specified DNS configuration."
I have been afraid to move beyond this point, although
it's possible that it will work properly and just isn't
    receiving the confirmation it expects.
Any suggestions would be welcome, either in this forum
or emailed to me. My address is [email protected]
    Thanks.

I decided to plow ahead with the installation. It works
properly within my local network - I can ping dchp
addresses and view Web files from my local server
using 192.168.0.3 (that machine's dchp address).
However, it can't get to the Internet. So my problem
now is that I can see the router, but can't see the
Internet services that the router provides to the other
computers on my network. Presumably, I need to
alter my DNS settings ... however, on my PCs, I seem
to simply use the router (192.168.0.1) as the DNS, and
it properly passes the request along to my cable modem
provider. Why would this work for the PCs but not for
    Solaris 8? Thanks -

  • How to configure a RV220W in normal routing mode (No NAT)

    Hi,
I have been very busy the last few days in trying to configure this router in normal routing mode. I do not want to have double NAT in my network. This is my setup:
C class IP network connected to the internet via a Fritzbox router. I need this router becasue of the VOIP services it provides. I want to use the RV220W to isolate certain users from the rest of the network. When I configure the router in WAN (NAT) it partially works, e.g. I can browse, send email but cant make a connection to a apple fileserver which is on the base network. When I try to operate in normal routing mode I cant get it to work. I am sure I am doing something wrong with the static routes.
    Setup:
    Internet <-> Fritzbox (192.168.12.0/24) network <-> RV220W <-> LAN 1 (192.168.1.0/24) users to be isolated.
On the 192.168.12..0/24 network the printer, fileserver and PBX are connected.
Please help me in configuring this.
The firmware is the latest 1.0.5.8.
    Thanks in advance!
    Peter

    Hello Peter,
Sorry for the late reply, but I figured I would post anyone in case anyone else has this question.
You can put the router in what is called router mode by logging into the admin page and going to Networking >> Routing >> Routing Mode and selecting Router.
I am only looking at an emulator, but I believe this will cause a reboot.  Once in router mode NAT and the firewall are disabled, however access rules do still work.
You will still need a static route from your Fritzbox to the 192.168.1.0/24 network on the RV220W, and the RV220W should have the Fritzbox as it's default gateway on it's WAN interface.  You may also need to create an ACL to allow traffic from the Fritzbox network through the RV's WAN port.
Some Apple devices depend on the Bonjour protocol to work properly, which doesn't always traverse subnets well, so if after all of that it still doesn't work you may have an issue with Apple.
    Thank you for choosing Cisco,

  • Broadband Option 3/Router

Have recently upgraded from Option 2 to Option 3 broadband with BT. Are you supposed to get a new router with this deal? It mentioned a welcome pack (don't know what the welcome pach was supposed to contain though) when I signed up online but nothing has arrived via post.
Failing that does anyone know if you can still buy a router for half price as an existing subscriber? Just been on the phone to BT and was told I would have to pay the full ninety odd quid.
My original Home hub 2 is a bit dodgy now and has to be rebooted about 10 times a day to keep a connection.
    Thanks

I though when you renewed your contract now if you didn't get a new hub then they extended the warranty on your existing hub for another 12 months.  you can try either uk sales  08007830056 or CS India 08001114567 and see if you can get a new hub

  • Configuring MPLS VPN using static routing

    Hi,
I am managed to set up a BGP/MPLS VPN in a laboratory using CS3620 routers running IOS 12.2(3) with ISIS. I am thinking of using static routes among the PE and P routers instead of a IGP. Does anyone know if Cisco routers supports static configuration of LSP? I have tried but could not get it work.

You can very well run MPLS with static routing in the core, as in Cisco we have to meet 2 criterias to have a MPLS forwarding Table.
    1) Creating the LIB
This thing lies in having LDP neighborship netween two peers and you have Label bindings.
This is irrespective of what is the best next hop to reach the advertising peers LDP_ID.
    2) Creating the LFIB
Now after considering all the Label bindings, the LDP_ID which can be reached out an interface
as a next hop, those Label bindings get installed in the LFIB.
So considering the above two points, we have to be careful in static routes
only for interfaces like Ethernet (Multiaccess Segments).
As in CEF when you give a static route pointing to an Ethernet Interface, CEF creates a
GLean Adjacency (Meaning there could be multiple hosts as the next hop on this segement, and it will glean for the right next-hop)
Now you may observe that when you give a static route only pointing to an Ethernet interface,
you LDP adjacency may come up and you may exchange the bindings with each other. But the Label Forarding Table is not created. This is bcos of this being a Multiaccess interface. And you have
Glean For it. If its a Normal WAN interface like Serial or POS, then there is no problem of
GLean and you would have a Valid Cached Adjacency.
So to avoid probelems with Ethernet interfaces you can simply specify the next-hop-ip address.
For Eg: ip route 10.10.31.250 255.255.255.255 10.10.31.226 (Without the Interface)
ip route 10.10.31.250 255.255.255.255 fa0/0 10.10.31.226 (Or with the Interface)
Only Difference in both is in the first one it has to do a recursive lookup for the outgoing interface. Otherwise both work well. And you can have static routes in your network
    running MPLS.
And doing this CEF would would work as it should and you would have a Valid Cached Adjacency.
So this is applicable for Cisco devices which use CEF, including 6500 with SUP720.
    HTH-Cheers,
    Swaroop

  • Configuring EA2700 as second-level router

I need to front-end my ISP's router with another, giving me a DMZ.  I have bought an EA2700 for this but I can't find how to configure it.  Can someone help?
I plan to have the DMZ network as 10.1.2.0/24, with the ISP's router at 10.1.2.254 and the EA2700's "upstream" connection as 10.1.2.1.  The internal network (where most of the clients reside) will then be 10.1.1.0/24, with the EA2700 itself at 10.1.1.254 and a DHCP range 10.1.1.100 upwards.
On the basic setup screen I've set the Internet connection type to fixed IP, 10.1.2.1; I've set its default gateway and DNS1 as the ISP's router at 10.1.2.254.  Then further down in network setup I've entered the *internal* address 10.1.1.254 and set the DHCP range and netmask appropriately.  I'm getting the error message "The IPv4 address and gateway are not in the same subnet mask".  But the only gateway I've entered is the one by which the *EA2700* knows how to route upstream traffic, viz the ISP's router at 10.1.2.254.  Or am I misunderstanding?
More fundamentally, can the EA2700 be configured in this way?

Thank you for the prompt reply.
The configuration I'm trying to achieve is this (I've left out lots of the downstream connections):
And my latest attempt at the configuration screen is this:
I haven't done anything with the firmware on the EA2700 -- it's whatever it was built with.  PS I'm using Linux so have no access to the Cisco Connect utility.

  • Configuring Airport Express and Modem/Router

I have a Siemens SX763 ADSL Modem/Router which I wish to use a simply an ADSL modem connected to my Airport Express which will act as wireless network.
I have switched off wireless on the SX763 and also DHCP server, which I expect the AX will act as. However I cannot get an internet connection from modem to AX. The usual connection is PPPoA with username/pwd - other options are PPPoE and Bridging(MER). My suspicion is that I should select bridging here and enter my ISP username/pwd via the AX.
Can anybody confirm my thinking or perhaps offer alternative suggestions?
    Cheers
    Darryn

    Darryn, welcome to the discussions!
You have a couple of options here:
I assume that the Express be connected to your Siemens with an ethernet cable, correct?
If you normally use the Siemens in your system, you could turn off the wireless for it and then setup the AirPort Express up as a bridge in your network. The Express would be set to "Create a Wireless Network" The Siemens would then furnish the DHCP and NAT services in this setup.
Alternately, if you wanted to the Express to provide PPPoE, DHCP and NAT services, you would need to set the modem up as a simple bridge. (Here, I assume that there is a setup page for the modem that would allow this.) The Express would be set to Connect with PPPoE and you would need to enter your user name and password during the setup for the Express. The Express would also be set to "Create a Wireless Network" in this configuration.
Either of these configurations should work fine. It's basically your choice of which device you want to handle the log on, DHCP and NAT services.
