Configuration of cisco 3662 router

i want to connect 3662 router to cisco 1700 router
how to configure the 2 router ?
what are the commands using?
meaning of each commands?

What sort of interface(s) are you using to connect these two routers ? The commands used will depend on that...

  • Still trying to configure a Cisco 877W router

    Hi,
I am still unable to configure my Cisco 877W router for use on a B.T. ADSL phone line.
I can log in to the router which starts up the SDM Express. I then select the wizard and get as far as filling in the DHCP server configuration.
When I then press next it does not go to the next step, it just stays on the DHCP config screen. I am now using a Windows XP machine to configure the router  as someone suggested, but it continues to halt at the same place.
    Can anyone help please,
    Thanks.
    Dave.

  • Optimal configuration for Cisco E3000 Router

    Hi All,
Following are the details of my current home network setup, I would like to hear more recommendations and drawbacks of this setup.
ISP has provided with a Cisco  DPC3825 DOCSIS 3.0 Gateway which has 4 Ethernet ports and a wireless networking but only 2.4 GHz.. This router is connected to the cable CPE box to internet. I have enabled the Firewall features of this router and disabled the Wireless network. This has also the DHCP server running.
The Second router is a Cisco E3000 which supports 2.4 GHz / GHz wireless networking. Connection to gateway is made via the 1st Ethernet port of gateway and then to the Internet port of E3000 router. I have connected my wireless devices to E3000 with GHz wifi lan. This router also has the firewall activated and DHCP server running as well.
Both routers have WEP2 Personal / AES security configured. Currently these two devices are on two different IP ranges ..etc gateway is 192.168.0.1 and e3000 is 192.168.1.1.
The E3000 is primarily configured for my online video for TV (Panasonic Vireacast). Please let me know if this is the best configuration or any other possible options.
    Thanks,
    RG

This configuration is called LAN to WAN configuration and this is the best configuration considering that you want to behave both the router as a router.
Because the other confiuration would be LAN to LAN then you can only use 1 router as a router and 2nd router as a switch.

The first configuration in the article is is LAN to LAN, scroll down the window for LAN to WAN configuration.

  • ACL's ON Cisco 1841 Router

Can you let me know what is the maximum no of ACL's that can be configured on Cisco 1841 router ?

Hmm I don't know if such metric is available out there. Perhaps a call/case with Cisco TAC would help! How many ACLs and ACEs do you need/plan to configure?
Thank you for rating helpful posts!

  • I am loosing configuration when I power off my Cisco 857 router

I bought new Cisco 857 router from the shop. Router must have been used before as I couln't go in with default username/password cisco/cisco.
Well I followed instruciton and reset password to username and password. Now I finally connected to the Cisco CP express over my IE browser.
I found out that somebody was using a router from the shop so this is why I coun't log to it in the first place. Anyway problem is that when I changed configuration and applied settings it remembers it until I power it off. When I power it on again it remembers all settings from that shop.
It reverts everything back: IP address, previous level 15 account and password - everything like after password reset.
I tried it again and it again lost settings. So I found following instruction:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps233/products_tech_note09186a00800a65a5.shtml
I followed it and changed again all settings on the router. My settings are again lost after power off/on. I noticed that when I do first bit it does show
0x2102 not 0x2142 like they think that is password reset mode.
Here is my output from Hyper Terminal:

Please help me as I am stuck and can't go any further....

    Hi David White,
Alternatively, after password recovery you can modify the configuration to be what you want, and then issue:
       write memory
to save the configuration.  You can then verify that your changes have been saved to the startup config by issuing:
       show startup-config"
The only good thing is that when I switch off a router it erase configuration except my new password which I created after password reset. Everything else is getting vanished (ADSL settings, DHCP, routing ) everything. Even new admin accounts I created.
Well have a question to your above comments. I am new in Cisco so please put as much detail as you can for me to understand. When you say modify configuration do you mean to go to Cisco CP Express graphical interface and then connect router to hyper terminal and execute above commands?
Why router doesn't remember this anyway. There must be some option to change in configuration to make thing permanent when I hit apply changes in Cisco CO Express otherwise it is pointless to heve it.
    Phillip
    write memory
    is
    copy running-config startup-config"
Can't this be done via Cisco CP Express or set up router to copy this every time I change this in graphical interface rather going to command line to achnoledge it?
I understand your concern about this router and somebodie's configuration details as you want things to be un-used when you buy them - true. ADSL details belongs to the shop which sold me the router so that is why I don't make a big problem about this. We take most of hardware from this shop and have discount and many good deals with them so I think they have been just testing it and forgot to erease their config. It might be that someone has returned router to the shop and they have repaired it and tested it.
I hope this is a normal behaviour of this router as I have option to replace it in case this is a fault.
Could you please write me step by step guide how can I make changed options stay permanently on router?
    thank you
    Dragan

  • Configuration Issue with my Cisco 871 Router

    Hi all,
I am a newbie to the Cisco IOS.
I got a Cisco 871 Router that I'd like to use for internet connection. My LAN network is 192.168.1.0/24 and the ISP has assigned us the IP 41.212.79.108/24 and gateway 41.212.79.1.
With my current configuration, I can hit the router - 192.168.1.1 - and it's WAN port - 41.212.79.108 - but not the gateway.
    Below is my current config:

I'll appreciate any light you can shed on what am missing.

2 wireless routers can not communicate wirelessly with each other.
You need to connect cable between 2 routers and use the second wireless router as access point.
Follow this link to connect Linksys router to another router.
Some of your devices are getting same IP address. This might be the issue with DHCP server of the router. You can try DHCP reservation on the router so that each device will get unique IP address.

  • Configuring Cisco 3620 router

I am quite new and haven't worked before with Cisco router. I have a Cisco 3620 router with only one ethernet interface (FastEthernet 0/0).
I want to configure it so that the router will have ip address of 192.168.2.2 (255.255.255.0). I am not using DHCP so all the machines in the network are configured manually.
    My running-config is as follows.
    version 11.3
    service timestamps debug uptime
    service timestamps log uptime
    no service password-encryption
    hostname router
    enable secret xxxx
    enable password xxxx
    controller T1 0/0
    framing esf
    linecode b8zs
    channel-group 0 timeslots 1-24 speed 64
    interface FastEthernet0/0
    ip address 192.168.2.2 255.255.255.0
    interface Serial0/0:0
    no ip address
    shutdown
    ip classless
    dialer-list 1 protocol ip permit
    dialer-list 1 protocol ipx permit
    line con 0
    line aux 0
    line vty 0 4
    password xxxx
    login
    end
Can someone give advise on what should I use for default-gateway, default-network and route?
I want to use name-server which has class B ip address. 131.x.x.x.
If my router can route all the traffic to 131.x.x.y (gateway in the same LAN as router) then I can connect to Internet.
Can someone tell me how to do this?
    Regards,
    Amar.

    Hi
i feel u need to have 2 ethernet interfaces in your router to have the reachability to the 131.x.x.x series from your local lan which is in 192.168.2.x series..
eventually u need to deploy nat to have this kinda access in place...
if you got to have that you can configure one of your interface on 131.x.x.x series and configure it as a nat outside interface and keep faeth0/0 as ur inside interface.
you need to configure up a access list and also the necessary overloading to achieve the connectivity.
i think this link will def help u out to find more details about the scenario and config details about which i m mentionining over here..
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk648/tk361/technologies_tech_note09186a0080094831.shtml
And again you can have the ip reachability using normal static ip route in your box..pointing to the ip which can be used to go out to the public/outside world..

  • Basic Internet Routing Configuration Help -- Cisco 2811

    Hi everyone,
I want to start by saying that I brought a Cisco 2811 Router to use at home and to practice advanced networking with. So far, I believe I've configured everything as it should be, however, I am not getting any internet connection.
DHCP is set up and working properly, I can lease addresses without issue.
Both interfaces are configured, fe0/1 with a static IP, and fe0/0 as a DHCP client.
I have connected fe0/0 directly to the Cable modem and it acquires an IP without issue. Connecting my laptop directly into fe0/1 allows my laptop to lease an IP from the router's DHCP server. So I know everything up to there is working properly. I've set up NAT as best I can with what I know, but I am still not getting the router to provide internet access.
The following is my Router's Configuration. Does anything seem to be missing? I used Configuration Professional to set it up.

    Hi Again,
    I sent
    dhcp pool Network
    default-router 192.168.100.1
to the router and wrote it to config. I still didn't have internet access at first, so I followed John's tip and hooked up my machine to an old Catalyst 2849G switch I had laying around. The switch has no settings, just gets an ip from the router and does its own thing. After doing so, I do now have internet access. I'm using it to post this reply in fact.
Here are the results of ipconfig /all on my Ethernet NIC on my machine before even having the switch:

It seems everything was working as it should, but I didn't have internet access and windows still reported it as an unknown network.
After hooking up my Switch, Windows reported seeing 'Network' (From my router's host name, I presume?) and once I reset the modem, I had internet access.
This was a huge learning experience and I am glad to have help from all of you. Is there anything else I can to do optimize my configurations? Also, why didn't I have internet access when directed hooked up to FastEthernet0/1 even though my machine acquired IP's and DNS info?

  • Cisco 831 Router to Configure VPN Access

    Hello,
I need assistance in configuring a VPN in a Cisco 831 Router. I do not have any experience in configuring routers and VPN's, and would appreciate if any one could help out.
I would like to connect three Laptops to the Cisco 831 via Cisco VPN Client. Three laptops must have 10.42.6.x Address assigned by the router on the VPN Connection. They will also need access to the internal network which is 192.168.x.x private network. The Cisco has a Static IP on the Internal Interface and External Interface. I have tried several different ways of doing this, however I must be doing something wrong in my config.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi Robert
You can refer the below link in finding out the exact config to start with.
do make sure that your Cisco 831 box with the current IOS code installed in it supports the required feature to run the same..

  • LZW 4G LTE Router Configuration for Cisco 881W (Teleworker, VPN)

I can't get the configuration of the the router to allow traffic on my company's VPN. The router is connected to the internet and otherwise works fine but whenever I attempt to connect via Cisco AnyConnect or the Cisco router, I can connect but can't access any intranet resource, email, etc. In essence, I can authenticate but can't do anything.
I've tried contacting NetGear and they referred me to Verizon. I contact Verizon and Technical Support does not have any information about how to configure their own routers. I'm waiting to hear back from an escalation group in my company's technical support.
I tried opening ports for UDP/TCP already and I attempted to create a static route but the router tells me that my info in incorrect (but I have no idea what is wrong either).
Has anyone come across a similar situation or could help point me in a direction towards a solution?
    Thansk.

Check with the network administrators for your company.  They should be able to confirm the version of your Cisco AnyConnect VPN and the requirements that it needs to open and sustain a tunnel.  Once you learn the requirements you can come back to the VZW forums for assistance on configuring your device.
Normally when a VPN authenticates but does not allow any communcation it means that there is a port, firewall rule or NAT feature conflict somewhere on the local network.  For example, the old Cisco IPSec VPN requires UDP ports 500/4500, IP 50 and TCP 10000 to be open in addition to NAT-T enabled on the VPN server.  Your company may have customized the VPN for thier enviornment so you really need the details before you can move forward.
A good link I like to save for instances like this (old Cisco VPN):

HI Team.we need to configuring IP SLA in cisco 3925 router with c3900-universalk9-mz.SPA.151-4.M4.bin ios. For Monitoring purpose. Earlier we have used the rtr command for the same. Now we are going with new Cisco 3925 router. with the above mentioned IOS. Pls suggest whether we can configure the IP SLA in the router with Licence. Or We need to buy the licence for the ame.
Posted by WebUser Ramkumar Selvaraj from Cisco Support Community App

    Hi
I think the command has been updated - rather than 'rtr responder' it's now 'ip sla responder'.
I don't believe you need any particular feature set.
Also, this is a 'Contact Center' forum - you would get more responses in other places.

  • Configuring QoS on Cisco 3845 router for Polycom Video Conferecing

    Dear All,
We have implemented a Polycom Video Conferecing solution at our Head Office. Using this we communicate with other branch offices through WAN (2mbps, MPLS).
The problem is that this WAN link is also used for data. When the traffic is high on the link, the voice and the video quality goes down drastically and we experience connection drops.
At the moment we have configured our Polycom box to communicate at 512kbps speed and we would like to reserve it in our WAN link. In case, video conferencing is not happening we would like it to be utilised by other traffic.
Can we configure QoS on our Cisco 3845 router to do this? I'm not a Cisco expert and have pressures from Management to correct this before the next conference.
I have already googled a fair bit but couldn't find something for me.
Could someone please tell me the exact commands that need to be given on our router to achieve this.
I'll be very thankful for this help.
    Best Regards.

    Hi,
You can use something like the following to guarantee 5122k of bandwidth to your video-conferencing bandwidth but to allow that bandwidth to be used by other traffic when it is not being used for video-conferencing:
    class-map VDOConf
    match ip dscp af41
    policy-map WANPolicy
    class VDOConf
    bandwidth 512
    interface
    service-policy output WANPolicy
Note that the above assumes that your video conferencing traffic is being marked to AF41. If that is not the case, you can always match on the IP address of your polycom device using an ACL:
    class-map VDOConf
    match access-group 101
    access-list 101 permit ip .....
Hope that helps - pls rate the post if it does.
