Configuration of Hotmail in MAC

Could anyone help me in configuring the hotmail in MAC PRO. I am trying to set the mail by selecting the type as IMAP, the server is connecting to the microsoft properly but the mails are not syncing and they are taking longer time to sync. Can anyone
help me how to fix this issue?

Hi Challa07,
As you are using IMAP account, I would firstly suggest you to un-check the “Sync all IMAP Folders Every “X” minutes” because IMAP account does not need any kind of parameter settings to synchronize emails in Outlook.
Apart from it, slow processing of Outlook can occurs due to numbers of reasons such as:
Third party plug-ins
Huge data file size
Internet connectivity
Corruption within Outlook
So, also check these settings and at last re-configure the Outlook profile by following the given tutorial:
http://computers.tutsplus.com/tutorials/how-to-set-up-outlookcom-imap-in-apple-mail-or-microsoft-outlook--mac-54038
http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/mac-outlook-help/imap-account-folder-settings-HA102927149.aspx
Note: Also un-subscribe “All Mail Folder” while dealing with an IMAP account.
Thanks

  • Hotmail on Mac using IMAP

    Hi,
Just purchased a mac. Configuring Mail on my mac and it is connecting using POP!!! Is it possible to connect to IMAP (like on the iPhone). Thanks.
    Fittan

Maybe; it's hard to tell for me. But I do know that several EU countries prohibit Microsoft from charging for their email services, at least if they had an account prior to a certain date, although I don't know what that date might be.
If you can sign in from that page it takes you to, it should tell you whether or not you have a Hotmail Plus account, as well as if you have 10GB of email storage and a 20MB attachment size; both of those are limited in a non-Hotmail Plus account.

  • How do I print a configuration page from a Mac with Snowleopard?

How do  I print a configuration page from a Mac with Snowleopard?  Printer is workinhg fine, but I just put in a new cartridge and I'd like to know how many pages I'm printing.

Hi there Dave, aka @dewanio , welcome back
I saw that you are looking to print off a configuration page.
The printer itself will print a test page however, the model depends on how it will print. Let me know which printer you have and I will get back to you!
    Thanks!

  • Doesn't play songs, "itunes is not configured for use with mac-formatted"??

Hi, new ipod shuffle. Seems to charge fine, all indicator lights function as expected. Everything looks fine in itunes. But it doesn't play songs. I have the most recent versions of itunes and the ipod software. Re-set, updated, and restored, nothing works. Even restored using the restore utility. Re-started computer. Checked for volume control. Won't play songs. Tried different file types. Songs play fine from itunes library and from the device's library within itunes. Tried different headphones. Hooked it up to computer speakers. Turning volume all the way up on device and speakers, heard some very faint rhythmic static, so my guess is the jack socket (or whatever you call it) is just messed up, but it seems weird that it can transfer power and data to the device but doesn't work for sound...
The only other issues that have come up is that the drive disappears in explorer once it syncs with itunes. Other people who've noticed this seem to have completely different problems so I don't think it's related.
Also, I have MacDrive on my computer. And when it starts up with the ipod plugged in, MacDrive offers the message "Itunes is not configured for use with Mac-formatted ipods." It offers to automatically reconfigure itunes so it can read mac-formatted ipods. Since I've restored the device, I don't see why formatting should be an issue so I say "no."
Should I try letting macdrive do its format thing? Should I try formatting the ipod disk on the My Computer menu? Or should I just email apple and tell them the jack's busted?
    Thanks for any thoughts!

Well, I have had my iPod for about 3 years, it is a 4th generation non-video 40 GB. One day it just stopped working, and now it does not play any songs. when I turn it on it makes this odd whirring sounds that computers make when they try really hard to do something. I cannot charge it, and it is not recognized by iTunes. Also when I turn it on, I get the apple.com/ipod/support (or whatever it is) screen. Needless to say, my warranty is expired, and so I cannot do anything for it except get a new battery, or buy a new one. Is there any way to fix this problem, or anyone out there who is experiencing the same thing?
I'm having the exact same problem with my wife's iPod. However it will play about 3 seconds of a song and go onto the next song.
If there is anyone out there that can help please do!

  • Configuration recomendations for new Mac

I need some help figuring out the best configuration for a new mac. In addition to basic office tasks, I will be using the computer primarily for all Mac Studio applications and After Effects.
    A few questions:
    - memory - is 8GB enough??
    - RAIDs - What do people recommend for RAID systems?? what are people's feelings on using the Mac Pro RAID?
    - drives - is it better to have external hard drives for video media, or does it matter?
    - are the Mac drives any better or worse for video media than whats on the market?
    - any new releases/updates happening next week?
Thanks so much for any advice.

    *memory - is 8GB enough*
Yep, five or more works well. Buy from macsales.com, not Apple.
    *Mac Pro RAID*
For what purpose. Most HD formats except uncompressed work well with SATA internal drives. And you can create a RAID with two or more SATA internals with a MacPro.
*drives - is it better to have external hard drives for video media* I don't believe it's better at all. eSATA drives with a controller are fine, but I stay away from all FW externals except for backup. Only one FW bus on all shipping Macs.
Apple doesn't make its own drives. They are likely Seagates. I prefer Hitachi Deskstars from zipzoomfly.com
MWSF is next week. Apple doesn't release details before the event.

  • I am trying to use an external HD and need to configure it for the MAC. Can someone explain how to configure the HD (Western Digital - My Passport SE)?

Can someone help explain how to add an external HD to the Mac? I have a Western Digital My Passport SE and need to configure if for the MAC and add it to the HD location on my Mac.

Connect the external drive to the Mac. You can do that while the Mac is on, (If the drive is one that has to be plugged into a wall outlet do that too and turn the power on.) If there is a light on the drive it should turn on.
Now double click on the hard drive icon - top left of the screen of your computer. When it opens look for the Applications folder. Double click that. Next look for a folder called Utilities. Double click. In there you will see a file called Disk Utility.app. Double click on that.
You will now see something like this, with two items on the left. The second one is your new drive.
Select it - one click. And click on Erase - one of the buttons at the top, You will see this.
You must select the Format, it's a drop down - the one shown in the image above is best. You can change the name from Untitled if you want. The name can be changed later if you prefer.
At this point look at the bottom right. There is a button there called Erase. Click on it. Then go get yourself a cup of coffee - this will take a few minutes.

Anyone know how to sync all your folders and contacts from hotmail to Mac Mail? I have just recently switched from the world of Windows to MacBook Pro - and Microsoft Outlook sync's all folders and contacts without any problem! Please help!! Thanks
Well Microsoft just allows POP3 access so syncing Hotmail across all devices is going to be tricky.S To add Hotmail this blog. Just after you create the the account in the Mail's Preferences, Accounts,Advanced tab Make sure you check make the box to leave messages on the server For some time So other devices can get those emails in their Inbox.
Then consider getting the book Switching to the Mac: The Missing Manual, Snow Leopard Edition. It will explain the Mac to a switcher and make your transition a lot cleaner.

  • What is the optimum core configuration for a new Mac Pro to process and manipulate very large (80 megapixel) images using PhotoShop and Camera Raw?

    Hello:
I will be using creative techniques to process and manipulate a large number (hundreds) of very large (80 megapixel) images captured using a medium format digital back (Phase One IQ180).
Final output will be digital fine art imagery printed using an Epson 11880 at large sizes (up to 60 inches x ?), retaining the highest possible quality and resolution. I will be using Adobe CC PhotoShop and Camera RAW as well as Capture One software. PhotoShop filters will be used extensively.
The Mac Pro needs to be optimized for the above purpose and be useful for at least five years. I plan to max out all the other options (RAM, graphics cards, storage). Performance is more important than cost.
The few discussions I have found that mention optimum core configurations seem to lean toward 6 or 8 (but likely are not taking into consideration my need for manipulating a large number of very large files), so I am looking to this foum for opinions.
    Thank you,
    Kent

  • Memory Configuration & Upgrade Recommendations - 2006 Mac Pro

    Hello,
It's been a long time since I have been posting here. Nice to see that everyone is still here. I have a memory configuration and upgrade I am now looking at. I'm also interested in how to use Bootcamp and install 64-bit Windows 7 when I have the EFI32. It appears that many of you build a new Windows 7 install DVD?
    Here is my current configuration:
    A1: 2GB
    A2: 2GB
    B1: 1GB
    B2: 1GB
    A3: 512 MB
    A4: 512 MB
    B3: 512 MB
    B4: 512 MB
I'm interested in comparing the 4GB vs. 2GB modules and what are the best options for maxing out this Mac Pro. I have forensic software that uses Oracle that I want to put on Windows 7 or a 64-bit Windows server. The system requirements say 16-32GB in a 64-bit environment for Oracle.
I also want to use CS4, Lightroom, Aperture, Capture One Pro, and FC HD on Snow Leopard.
I would appreciate input on configuration and memory quantities for what appears to now be an ancient Mac Pro and how to use a 64-bit OS on Bootcamp.
Thank you for your time and input!
    Michael

2006: 4 memory chips is ideal. obviously that only takes you to 16GB max.
    2008: 8 memory chips (don't read about 2008 then!)
I've seen people report their 4GB DIMMs run cooler, too, and heat is always an issue when it comes to FBDIMMs. They use a lot of power (watts) and one of the large sources of heat.
What you have now, 2s and 1s and 512s don't get you to 16GB or above, and as I posted you can get to 20GB replacing 4 x 512s.
I'd try with 4 x 4GB, which seems like you have to buy anyway, and see how heat and performance is. And only then consider adding back 2s and 1s to get to 20GB.
in the end, I'd sell the RAM you have if it makes a difference.

  • Can I migrate/copy my iTunes configuration to a new Mac Pro?

I have been able to copy over the sparse-bundle backups and restore.   But what I need to know is if I can copy over the entire configuration of iTunes (not just the music) such that my sync settings are retained (ie: sync only checked songs).  I have a considerably large collection of music and there's no way I want to go through selection again.   I just had my iPhone replaced, have a new cylinder Mac Pro to which I want to migrate this data.
I did perform an rsync of the Music directory structure to my new Mac Pro, but it appears to be missing settings (as I mention above).   I imagine that's stored elsewhere.
    Could someone elaborate?
    Thanks!

Found out how to address plist conversion from this page:
    http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20050430105126392
But I think iTunes has sorted this out.  As my $HOME is actually /Users/username and not /Volumes/Home/username on the new Mac.  We'll see... I'm sync'ing now

  • Help with configuring back to my mac on the time capsule?

I just found out about the "back to my mac" feature within the time capsule. I followed the directions on how to set it up, but I have a problem. it says that I am supposed to enable the nat port mapping protocol. I went to the internet tab in the TC and changed connection sharing to share a public ip address, and then enabled the Nat protocol but when I hit update, it says that I have to correct 3 problems:
    1. DHCP beginning address. The dhcp range entered conflicts with the WAN ip address of my device. It shows 192.168.1.2
    2. DHCP ending address. The dhcp range entered conflicts with the WAN ip address of my device. It shows 192.168.1.200
    3. The wireless device is setup to allow configuration over the ethernet wan port, which decreases network security. It gives me the option to unclick the allow setup over wan box, or I can simply choose to ignore this problem.
What does all this mean? and how can I fix these problems?

3 Broadband presents a whole host of problems when using on the go: broadband it ain't -it has serious issues with gMail and gTalk, loses connections with the latter plus AIM and iChat, sends eMails off into the ether and basically is just toy broadband. I had the chance to compare the service with the offering from O2 Ireland (shortly about to go to 7,2 mbps) and there is just no comparison. To all intents and purposes, O2(IRL) behaves just like real broadband, performs all normals tasks with aplomb and without even getting up steam. This is how HSDPA should be (and this is over bluetooth, not even using the usb datamodem).
I'm dropping 3 IRL as soon as possible and just keeping 3 UK X-series as backup.
