Configuration of tftp server on a Solaris 10 Zone

tftp is working fine on Solaris global Zone, but we are encountering problems in running tftp in other zones. Are there any configuration changes we would have to make in order for tftp to work from any Zones?

Install the tftp package in the zone and configure it, which should be no different than in Solaris 10.  The only difference would be the use of the new packaging system.

    Hi,
I dont think is there any mechanism but yes to secure you can configure on router that tftp source interface for tftp server cofniguration upload and download into router or on server.

  • Configuring Cisco TFTP Server for CUCM

    Hi,
I currently have a Publisher and two Subscriber (v 6.1.3), I have now gone over the magical 1250 devices where Cisco recommend a standalone TFTP server.
I understand to deploy it I need to add it to the Publisher as a Server and then once up and running enable the Cisco TFTP service, then update the Option 150 address in my DHCP scope to point towards the new TFTP server.
A couple of questions, does the TFTP server need the following installed at the same level as the Publisher/Subscribers:
    Dial Plans
    Device Packs
    Locales
Thanks and any other comments appreciated.

    Hi Ian,
    - By architecture, the TFTP server would be the one pushing out the firmware load and  to the phones - so you would need your device packs, containing the bundle of firmware loads, to be on your standalone TFTP server.
    - locales install files which the phones get from the TFTP server, such as their dictionary - so you would need locales on the standalone TFTP server
    - Dial plans are files used by the CCM binary file. If you are not planning on running CCM service on the server ever, you don't need to install dial plans on that server.  However, as best practice, it is good to have dial plans, locales and device packs uploaded on this standalone TFTP server, in case the server roles were adjusted at a later point in time.

  • Configuring TFTP server on a PCMCIA

I would like to know if it is possible to configure a PCMCIA card as a TFTP server and how to do so. We have a need to put large call routing files near our gatekeepers and do not have any servers or PC's close. We were wondering if it is possible to put a TFTP server (somehow) onto a PCMCIA card in a router.
    Thank you

this is how you can configure a router to be TFTP server.
But I don't understand what the problem is..
If you can telnet to the router you can TFTP IOS and configs ???

Copying From One Router to Another
To do this, you need to activate the Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) server on the router that has the Cisco IOS® Software image that you want to copy.
Use the tftp-server [device]:[filename] command in global configuration mode as follows:
    Router#show flash
    System flash directory:
    File Length Name/status
    1 11173264 c2500-jos56i-l.120-9.bin
    [11173328 bytes used, 5603888 available, 16777216 total]
16384K bytes of processor board System flash (Read ONLY)
    Router#configure terminal
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
    Router(config)#tf
    Router(config)#tftp-server ?
flash: Allow URL file TFTP load requests
flh: Allow URL file TFTP load requests
lex: Allow URL file TFTP load requests
null: Allow URL file TFTP load requests
nvram: Allow URL file TFTP load requests
system: Allow URL file TFTP load requests
    Router(config)#tftp-server
    Router(config)#tftp-server flash:?
    flash:c2500-jos56i-l.120-9.bin
    Router(config)#tftp-server flash:c2500-jos56i-l.120-9.bin
    Router(config)#^Z
    Router#
Once the tftp-server is configured, you can download the specified image from the router using the copy tftp flash command, as if it were a classic TFTP server.
Note: The IP address of your TFTP server is the address of the router on which you configured the tftp-server command.

  • How to make CUCM as a TFTP server , then copy files to Voice Gateway ?

how to make CUCM as a TFTP server , then copy files to Voice Gateway ? anyone knows?

    Hi,
    Please check the following link
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/admin/6_1_1/ccmsys/cucm-accm-611/a02tftp.html#wp1023004
Understanding How Devices Access the TFTP Server
You can enable the IP phones and gateways to discover the TFTP server IP address in one or more of the following ways, depending on the device type:
•Gateways and phones can use DHCP custom option 150.
Cisco recommends this method. With this method, you configure the TFTP server IP address as the option value.
•Gateways and phones can use DHCP option 066.
You may configure either the host name or IP address of the TFTP server as the option value.
•Gateways and phones can query CiscoCM1.
Ensure the Domain Name System (DNS) can resolve this name to the IP address of the TFTP server. Cisco does not recommend this option because it does not scale.
•You can configure phones with the IP address of the TFTP server. If DHCP is enabled on the phone, you can still configure an alternate TFTP server IP address locally on the phone that will override the TFTP address that was obtained through DHCP.
•Gateways and phones also accept the DHCP Optional Server Name (sname) parameter.
•The phone or gateway can use the value of Next-Server in the boot processes (siaddr).
Devices save the TFTP server address in nonvolatile memory. If one of the preceding methods was available at least once, but is not currently available, the device uses the address that is saved in memory.
You can configure the TFTP service on the first node or a subsequent node, but usually you should configure it on the first node. For small systems, the TFTP server can coexist with a Cisco Unified Communications Manager on the same server.

  • Windows 2003 DHCP server merge to Solaris 10

Does anyone ever tried to merge a Windows2003 DHCP server to Solaris 10? Especially running this DHCP server in a solaris zone?
I have an old windows 2003 server with 100 DHCP clients that needs be be transported to Solaris so we can get rid of this Windows machine.
Is it possible to read the DHCP backupfile from windows2003 with Solaris?

    Okay, more information:
Workstations that are imaged will receive SLP information as long as the
Zen agent hasn't been installed.(using latest Zen7SP1 Postpatch)
Once you install the Zen agent you will no longer receive SLP via DHCP.
Note that the Novell Client version can be 491 to 491 SP3.
However, if you rename the C:\windows\system32\novell\novdhcp.dll file,
you'll resume getting SLP info from DHCP.(TID 10093676)
    Pretty strange, eh?

  • How to configure logs to be sent for TFTP server !?

    hi
I want to let the router or the switch to sends the log to TFTP server, how can I do that !?
including things like debug commands results
    thanks,

You want to send the logs to the Syslog server..right? Use the logging command to do it.
    logging x.x.x.x is the command.
Use the logging trap command to set the level of logging.
    Router(config)#logging trap ?
      <0-7>          Logging severity level
      alerts         Immediate action needed           (severity=1)

Installation of patch set complete. PLEASE REBOOT THE SYSTEM.
when i tried to reboot the system by init 6 the service iscsi hanged and produced syslog errors about a unkown iocall -> killed the process. System rebooted w/o errors.
Does anyone have got an idea how to find out which patch or whatever do produce these errors?

    Hi,
I'm having the same issue of diskmon core dumps after upgrading grid and database from 11.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.2 on Solaris 10 x86-64. Following this thread, I'm trying to deinstall the Oracle 11.2.0.1 grid home.
I answered the following questions asked by the grid deinstall tool:
    1. ASM configuration was not detected in this Oracle home. Was ASM configured in this Oracle home (y|n): y
    2. Specify the ASM Diagnostic Destination: /db01/app/oracle/diag/asm/+ASM
    3. Specify the diskgroups that are managed by this ASM instance: DATA FRA
    4. De-configuring ASM will drop all the diskgroups at cleanup time. Do you want deconfig tool to drop the diskgroups:
If I answer no to question 1, the tool exits with error.
How do I answer question #4? (confused about this question of dropping diskgroups, it's already been upgraded)
Deinstall of Oracle db Home 11.2.0.1 was successful.
The +ASM instance has been upgraded and is running fine under 11.2.0.2 except for the excessive diskmon core dumps.
    Thanks,
    Lisa

  • EM 12c and Solaris Zone Monitoring

    Hi all,
I am using Oracle EM 12c to monitor Oracle database server which run on Solaris zone, which is capped to run using only 4 cores.
BUT the Host management home page is still showing "Total Cores" of 8 (I am using Sun T4-1).
Is there some configuration which required to be done to reflect the number of capped CPU.
Also is there a way to isolate the CPU, Memory, Filesystem and Network utilization to only look at the local zone?
I suspect what I see now represent the resource utilization of the physical machine.
    Thank you.
    -Joel

    Loc,
I've opened quite a few SRs, some handled well, some not. My biggest issue perhaps is that SRs are needed at all. We are a small shop that relied on OEM 10.2 for a long time, skipped over 11G and went right to 12R2. It was a culture shock, and I'm not sure if skipping the version added to our woes.
There are 3 DBAs here, with Oracle experience between 13 and 18 years, we are not newbies. I took the em12c class from Oracle.
But still, acceptance of its use has not been high, mostly because it's no longer the quick, targeted place we 'go to'. It's a huge product now, with much built-in. We are finding we need a mind adjustment to use it and the transition period related to how much time we can spend on that. Our intent, though, was to make things easier, not harder.
Case in point is our implementation of DataGuard. This project was new to us and I made EM12C upgrade as a predecessor project because I needed its help. I ultimately abandoned it, we hired a consultant, we learned manual steps, and that's what we use today. Everything is homegrown.
I feel as through the purpose for EM moved from a DBA monitoring tool. Remember OEM 10.2 and its initial summary page that showed the overall health of everything on one shot? I can't do that in em12c, or at least haven't found that.
    Here are some SRs:
    SR 3-6392247151
    Sr 3-7159111371
    SR 3-6645421051
    * SR 3-6608820051
    SR 3-6667182071
    * Covers "invalid objects" missing, something we previously relied on.
Back to the original question of this post - I understand now that if we use EM to switch our databases, the role reversal will show. We would have loved to rely on EM for everything. Now that we must do everything manually, I have to then manually drop the target being monitored and re-add it. Again, something that should make our jobs easier is now harder.
Thanks for listening. Am I really the only DBA that says EM12C is harder to use for basic functionality?

  • Req: Checkpointing Disks for Solaris Zones

Is there a way using Solaris Zones to checkpoint a disk? I would like to be able to carry out a series of experiments on a test system and start from an identical configuration each time. VMWare calls this capability "Disk checkpointing," and Solaris Zones appears to somewhat resemble VMWare.

    Hi,
since the SCOM Agent is not 'cluster aware' you probably have no other choice than restarting the agent and wait for the next discovery cycle of the solaris logical disks. You can speed this up by manually override the discovery interval for that specific
server. After that the disk is not longer monitored.
If you have the time and knowledge you could set up a custom monitoring for clustered filesystems and disable the standard monitoring for that filesystems. But I think thats quite time-consuming. We have the same issues here with our Solaris and Linux clustered/shared
filesystems but we still live with the workaround of restarting the agent.

  • Configuration of standard server, 10.5.4 install disk, small office, DNS

I've reinstalled more times than I care to count.
Been on the phone with support people- no one seems to know how to install standard in my config.
I have a fixed business class IP-
it connects from their modem to my Apple Extreme basestation N gigabit
which then connects to a 24 port gigabit ethernet switch.
The server is manually mapped by MAC address to 192.168.0.2
    In the standard setup-
It asks for login to Apple Extreme basestation N gigabit- I provide- password- then configure manually (rest of computers use DHCP)
    I supply.
    Manual configured ip at 192.168.0.2
    subnet 255.255.255.0
    router 192.168.0.1
    left DNS blank.
    Standard install.
The ethernet is configured to run through an ethernet card from my xserve- since the internal one doesn't seem to register.
I used the MAC address for the machine in the Basestation to route to this mac address and reserve .2
once it gets completed- it whines: server cannot connect be found on the network check that the server hostname
    etc.
    System prefs> Network settings- DNS I've tried with 192.168.0.1, I've tried with 127.0.0.1 and with 127.0.0.1, 192.168.0.1
nothing works. I've even tried with 192.168.0.2
It can't find server.name.lan (note I changed my actual 3 letter name for "name" in this example)
it can find 192.168.0.2 sometimes - but slowly.
I've reinstalled this about 50 times now.
I've even done it with someone on the phone-
at no time have we had:
    Jabber working at server.name.lan
server.name.lan resolving to the wiki page
    calender working
    and vpn enabled.
I've lost countless hours with this-
My employees haven't been able to work at times (like tomorrow morning- because we keep all our files shared on this server).
this is getting to be uber ridiculous.
    suggestions?
The last install- I tried it name.private
going to terminal- it still says to repair dns.
There is a spot in the airport Internet settings for domain name- should I put in name.private or server.name.lan?
I've also tried the disconnect the ethernet cable routine- that one tech had me do-
I now know how to go into terminal and check- using sudo ipconfig -checkhostname
where I have not been able to get the two entries- always get the message to repair dns.
    This shouldn't be that difficult.
    Thanks in advance

The most obvious problem from your posted details is:
    left DNS blank.
You can't do this. You HAVE to have working DNS somewhere.
For the initial setup this could be a DNS server managed by your ISP. If you're configuring internal DNS then it could be your internal DNS server (or even 127.0.0.1), but not until that server is up and running.
I used the MAC address for the machine in the Basestation to route to this mac address and reserve .2
I don't understand this statement. MAC addresses don't (or, at least, shouldn't) come into the picture at all.
    System prefs> Network settings- DNS I've tried with 192.168.0.1, I've tried with 127.0.0.1 and with 127.0.0.1, 192.168.0.1
nothing works. I've even tried with 192.168.0.2
192.168.0.1 won't work - that is your base station and your base station is not a DNS server.
127.0.0.1 won't work until you configure and start up the DNS server in Mac OS X Server.
192.168.0.2 won't work either - for the same reason as 127.0.0.1. It will work once you configure the DNS server on this machine.
So it sounds to me like your first order of business is to setup the DNS server. During the installation process you were asked which services to run. Make sure you enabled DNS then use Server Admin to configure your DNS zone.

  • How to configure ASM of 11gR2 RAC on Solaris 10

    Hi all,
I have the first time to install the RAC on Solaris 10. I have stuck on the ASM disk group step in the Grid Infrastructure.
    Our Configuration
2 Sun Server in Solaris 10 with same configure (which we are not using shared drive)
    250GB Local Hard Disk
1100 GB Raw Disk (which at SAN)
3GB x 3 Raw Disk (which at SAN) for voting disk
When I install Grid Infrastructure, I select first option: Install and Confgure Grid in Cluster (I can't remember the exact name) and also select the Typical Installation. The previous steps are successful before the ASM Disk Group. At ASM Disk Group, no disk are display for selection.
So, how to fix the missing disk in this ASM Disk Group creation?
    Please help!

I would break the 1100G into 11@100G devices and use EXTERNAL redundancy (RAID on the SAN side). You will get much better performance. (Configured/managed a 250TB 3node cluster on Sun 6900s however my LUNs were 1.5TB in size)

Sunny YipAgain using a single 1.1TB device will not get you better performance and should you need to add additional devices, they too will need to be 1.1TB. Sometimes smaller is better.
Make sure you use a partition that starts at cylinder 1 or 2
Make sure you set the correct permissions (660) and ownership (gridowner:oinstall) on those devices and make sure the oracle user is a member of that group.
