Configuration of third-party router

Hello,
I'm trying to configure a router in place of my BT Home Hub.  I am pretty sure it has to be PPPoE because it's ethernet out the back of the Home Hub.  I tried what was posted on these forums, I used [email protected] with 'bt' as the password.  However, the PPPoE connection just times out.
One place I saw said I needed to configure a VLAN of 101.  No luck with or without a VPN.
All I ever get is a timeout.  If I plug the ethernet from the modem back into the BT Home Router, it works fine, so I know my line works.
Some of the settings I can change in the third party router are:
PPPoE Username
PPPoE Password
MTU/MRU
VLAN (yes/no) and VLAN ID
Encryption (yes/no)
Mac Address (default or I can enter one)
Do I need to power cycle the VDSL modem and leave it off for a period of time to get it it to forget the BT Home Hub?  I did try power cycling for maybe 5-10 seconds but to no avail.
In the PPP log, all I ever see is PPP Timeout.
Anyone have any idea how to get this working?

  • Connecting to third-party router, but unable to browse or e-mail

I am using an Airport Extreme card in my PowerBook G4 running firmware version 405.1 (3.90.34.0.p18). Our office Wi-Fi access is through a third-party router. We used to use MAC address filtering, and I had no problem accessing the network.
Recently, for reasons unclear to me, our IT director ditched the MAC address filtering in favor of the WPA-personal standard. I was able to enter the encryption key and get connected to the network, but I wasn't able to get my browser to access the internet, nor send or receive e-mail traffic.
Our IT folks temporarily disabled all security and restarted the wireless router, but I was still only able to connect to the router, and not use my browser or e-mail, so it doesn't seem to be a problem with the use of WPA per se. I tried temporarily turning off my own firewall, too, but the problem remained.
Oddly, I can open up the Terminal and Ping successfully to an outside address -- only http and e-mail traffic seems to be blocked. The Windows-based PCs seem to be able to connect to the wireless network and use their browsers to access the internet without any problem. Any thoughts as to what else I might try, or have the IT administrators try, to resolve the problem?
    Thanks,
    Sid

Hello kilgores. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Something to ask your IT staff is if they use a proxy server for Internet access. If so, do they require proxy configuration scripts (.pac) to provide access to the Internet through your company's firewall. This information would normally be added to your browser's settings.
For Safari: Preferences... > Advanced > Proxies > Change Settings... > Automatic Proxy Configuration

  • HomeHub2 as Modem with Third Party Router, Securit...

okay i've configured my Homehub to be set as a Router and conencted a Belkin G Plus Mimo router as the third party router, connection and everything is fine but theres on problem...
security, there is no scurity protecting my wireless network which means everyone can access my network which is bad.
when i try accessing the third party router (belkin router) i'm forwarded to the BT home hub control panel page...
any help? i need protection on my wireless!
    Kind Regards, Bert

    Hi Bert,
What you will need to do is manually change your Network Adaptor to an address in the 192.168.2.2-255 range. Set the gateway to 192.168.2.1 and try and access your third party router again. Then enable the DHCP Server on the LAN interface of your Belkin router.
Don't forget that you have to be connecting through your Belkin router in order to use it properly like Computer - Belkin - Homehub, not Computer - Hub - Belkin otherwise it will just ignore the additional router (Belkin).
You will also need to add a Static Route on the Belkin and set the Destination network to 192.168.1.0/24 and set the gateway to 192.168.1.254 in order to access the internet and Homehub. This will need to be set on the WAN interface.
    I hope this helps.

  • Connecting a third party router to accompany actiontec router?

So I'm thinking about ordering a second router but I don't want to replace the actiontec router that Verizon supplied me, only because I don't have any clue what to do with my STB's so I'm going to leave the Actiontec specifically for that reason. I have the exact same setup with this exact router at my father's house and nothing seems to have gone wrong. Except that we hooked up an extra room specifically for the third party router. This time, I have nowhere for that to happen, so I was thinking about buying a moca bridge and plugging it in to an existing coaxial jack which another STB is plugged into. If I did this with the new router and simply gave only the one STB internet connection via Ethernet through the third party router, and left the rest on the actiontec, would it still work without messing anything up? Thank you.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I'm not exactly clear what it is you want to accomplish, but if I understand correctly that you want to have an Ethernet connection for a single device in another part of your house, a part of the house where there's an existing coax feed, then a MoCA adapater should do the trick for you.
If indeed you're just trying to get that single Ethernet connection you won't need another router.  You can plug the Ethernet device directly into the output of the MoCA adapter.
If you need more than one Ethernet connection after the MoCA adapter what you can use is a simple and inexpensive Ethernet switch.  Again, you don't need another router.
The only case I can envision for needing a second router in your situaiton is if you want to use it to extend WiFi coverage, but just  for Ethernet connection(s) a second router is not needed and may be counter productive.

  • Is it possible to use a third party router with BT...

    Hi all,
I currently have BT Infinity & Unlimited calls on my package, but I use a third party router, namely a Netgear WNR3500L in place of my original v2 Infinity Home Hub.
Now, my question is this: Do I have to use a Home Hub with Vision, or would I be okay using my current setup?
I do realise that if I use a third party router, I won't get support from BT.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • How can I configure a third party VME board with A24 address space using a VME-MXI-2?

    Hi!
We are trying to establish communications to a Galil Motion controller with a VME interface. Galil states that they are using a A24 address scheme with A16 data space for their board.
I am confused how to configure that board in the VME chassis properly.
The base address provided by Galil is 91Fxxx, I am assuming that the lower three nibbles are the registers that I can talk to?!
How do I set the address range under the resource setting for that board?
Also, I noticed in MAX that one board shows up with a slot number unknown, one with slot #0 and this board I have set to slot #1. I assume that the unknown part is for the PCI card that makes up for the 1/2 of the PCI to VME bridge?
The VISA VIs (Register based access) returns either a bus error, an invalid offset specified or data. However, we are completely in the dark when it does return data, since the expected offset we are typing in causes one of the two errors.
Our assumption of the problem is that we do not understand how to properly configure that third party board as a resource. It has also happened that the resource manager is hanging up the PC completely. Not even CTRL-ALT-DEL works and the MXI activity LED on the NI-VME-MXI-2 board stays on during the hand up.
We would appreciate, if somebody could walk us through the configuration process, step-by-step. Specifically, please explain how to setup the base address and how the offsets relate to this on a A24 address scheme. We are completely new to the VME bus interface, so even trivial things may be unkown to us.
We have browsed NI's page and manuals for explanations, however, we could not find any answers to our questions.
We noticed a formula for an A16 board that takes the base address and adds the logical address to it plus 40hex. Do we have to do the same or something similar to the A24 board????
We also came accross an option that would allow the board (NI VME controller) to share its memory with A24 or A32 space? Do we need to enable that? What is the purpose for that?
    Best,
    Markus Tarin

When I did not get a response here, I had to open a ticket with support.  The short answer is that you cannot customize the SAML response when using Azure AD as an IdP.
    Response from support:
I discussed the issue with senior engineers to get action plan for this issue. After doing research Senior engineers updated me that we cannot add a custom attribute to the default
    SAML response of Azure AD.
Below is the link to get the list of available attributes
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn195587.aspx
As default SAML response from Azure AD , we have email address of the user sent out as attribute value for the Attribute " NAME ".
They suggested me to configure the application we are trying to integrate with Azure AD in such a way that it transforms the Attribute  " NAME " into " EMAIL
This was not particularly helpful in my case as I did not have any control over the 3rd party which specifically documented that they would not extract the email address from the name attribute.

  • Pairing AX with Third Party Router

    Hi,
I try to set a network by connecting AX with thrid party WiFi router (to create a router network). I can not manage to pair it as I wish, but I am aware that not all Third party router are able to connect with Airports and WDS.
I try to pair with a Sitecom (WL-026)
Do someone knows about AX -3rd Party comaptibility?
    Thanks
    Yann

Since I'm not at home, I can't go into my AX config right now. However, is what you're suggesting quite easy (i.e., setting up my AX to connect to my NON-WDS supporting 3rd party P.O.C. router's network)?
I am currently doing it the brute force way: two separate networks, one (3rd party) connected to the world, one (AX) connected to the stereo. This is all well and good except that I have no internet connectivity when I'm using the stereo. OK... not so well and good.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Generally will say NO per ATT info.  One user posted he got it working, he knew what he was doing.  There are certain attributes that have to be on the router for it to work.   802.1p and IGMP snooping were needed on the 3rd party router.

  • How to extend a wifi network of third party router with TC 4th generation?

After searching the communities for a while, I did not find a definitive answer on the following question:
    - I recently bought a 4th generation Time Capsule 2TB (MD0322/A), that I also want to use as an extension for our existing wifi network.
    - This wifi network is maintained by a Sitecom Wireless 300N XR Gigabit Router. Router is set to work over 2.4 GHz (B+G+N) because of several non-N-wifi devices in the network. The channel in use is currently 11.
    - This router provides so called WDS functionality, i.e. the ability for other wifi access points to act as a seamless extension of the basic wifi network (using the same SSID).
    - The security settings in the router are WPA2 Mixed, with a password in plain ASCII.
    - There seems to be no way to set different security levels for WDS-connections versus normal AP (access point) connections. If WDS is enabled, the security settings of the AP-mode are extended to the WDS connection.
I have set the Sitecom router to enable WDS, and added the MAC-address of the TC in the configuration of this router.
When configuring the Time Capsule, with Airport Utility 5.5.3, I can select the option to use TC to extend an existing network, and I can select the network of choice using the WPA personal or WPA/WPA personal security. However, the TC does not succeed in extending the network, and reports this back. If I manually configure the TC and select the network of choice, Airport Utility reports back that the selected network cannot be extended.
I have read several times in other posts that Time Capsule can only connect to third party routers via WDS using WEP-authentication, but these posts were quite old. I was wondering if this is still the case, or that Apple has updated this functionality in newer versions of TC, and thus there could exist a trick to connect to a WDS using WPA.
    I really would appreciate suggestions

Airport can not be used to extend a WiFi created by a non-Apple box.
You need to turn off the radio in the router (shut down the existing WiFi).  Purchase TWO Airport Express units.  Connect one to the router with an Ethernet cable.  Configure that one as your primary WiFi network and then use the second Express as the extender.
You need to locate the second Express where it receives a decent WiFi signal.  Too far away and it has nothing to extend.  Too close and it doesn't buy you anything.  Before you plug in the second Express, check to see where the primary WiFi disappears completely.  My personal WAG is that you want to locate the second Express 2/3 the distance to that point.
If you use Airport Utility to configure the units, it's a snap.  In fact, if you configure the primary first and the extender second, AU will default to exactly the settings that you want.
By the way, I refereed to the Express because it's less expensive than the Extreme and you didn't indicate any need for the Extreme features.

  • Extend range of unencrypted WLAN of third party router *without* using WDS

    Hello,
Imagine the following scenario for which I would like to find a solution -- but I think it's impossible, so I'm looking for hints:
My neighbour operates an open (unencrypted, unprotected) wireless network that I can use. He uses a third party WLAN router that does not support WDS. I have good reception only in a certain area in our house, so I would like to extend the range of the network, using my Airport Express station (or possibly other hardware).
I cannot make changes to the configuration of my neighbours router anyway, because we don't know the password for the configuration pages (and we don't want to reset the device to factory defaults).
I know that normally one would configure the two routers (his and mine) to use WDS (each knows the other's MAC address, uses the same channel, SSID and encryption setting etc.), but this is not possible here.
I could join his network with my powerbook wirelessly and then set up sharing preferences on the powerbook such that the WLAN internet connection would be shared onto the ethernet port to which I would connect my Airport Express station to allow wireless access by other machines. This isn't the cleanest setup because I think my powerbook would have to distribute IP addresses using DHCP and NAT which my neighbour's router does, too, so we should not use the same IP range (e.g. would use 192.168.1.xxx and I would use 10.0.1.xxx) and probably we shouldn't use the same SSID, either.
Because there's no WDS support, something like the above seems to be the only solution to me, namely: I would have to join his network as a normal client and the redistribute more or less separately (different subnet/different SSID/different IP address range/...).
Now, the Airport Express can join an existing network as a client, but despite the displayed settings in Airport Admin Utility, bridging to the ehternet port or Airport Express does not work. I have read a lot of Apple documentation, and my understanding is that when setting up Airport Express to join an existing wireless network, the only purpose would be to use it as the receiving end for iTunes music streaming and possibly to connect a printer to it; but the ethernet is completely disabled. (It took me hours to figure this out because the Admin utility clearly suggests that the station would operate as WLAN-ethernet bridge in this setting, but it doesn't.)
So do you have any other solutions to this problem? WOuld an AIrport Extreme station be capable of doing this?
I don't want to use my powerbook as the 'bridge' to share the WLAN connection to the ethernet port as described above because that would require my powerbook to be on alll the time and be located in an inconvenient place.
    Thanks for your replies!
P.S.: I do have some older/other wireless routers available, but I think they're not going to help because they won't allow this rather unusual setting. They're all very basic.
Powerbook G4 1 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   Airport Express

WOuld an AIrport Extreme station be capable of doing this?
No. The only way an AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) can wirelessly join a network is using WDS. It does not offer the wireless client mode like the AirPort Express (AX).
Using your PowerBook as you suggested is the only solution using Apple's devices.
There may be 3rd party repeaters that you can use but I have no experience with them.

  • SNC with SAPRouter configuration for Third party company

    Hi expers,
Need your advise for my below scenario.
We are running SAP on IBM i. My question is about outside world connectivity with encryption mechanism to SAP AS.
As of now , we are not using SNC either for internal / external network connectivity with SAP apps server. But we are going to allow third party company to connect for one of the payment processing takes place. Since the third party company not accepting VPN connectivity, we are planning to implement Separate SAPRouter configured with SNC, (encryption option), and open the firewall port for them. How much secured it is ? we are in the process of installaing and configuring windows server for SNC & SAPRouter installation. What are all the required configuration in  SAP Application server level & new SNC server, for this ? How exactly SAPGui ( from third party company) to SAP Apps Server will go through the traffic ? Need experts advise on this ?
Basically I want to make sure, once it is configured, trafic will go through encrypted way outside of our network.  Thanks in advance for all your valuable  reply !

  • Connect Express to third-party router

I am considering buying an AirPort Express to use with AirTunes. But first I want to know if it would be possible to wirelessly connect the AirPort to my third-party 802.11g DSL router to use as a wireless bridge, or whatever it's called.

Not via the AX's Ethernet port.
With the AX's configured as a wireless client any client of the network (wireless or connected via Ethernet to the main base station) will be able to stream music to the AX and use a printer attached to the AX.

    Thanks Siva,
    My version
    Version: 7.0.09
    Build id: 200608262203
I need to push my webdynpro application into QA system. so third party webservices also move to it's own QA system.
Now Once I need to move my code to QA the webservice should point to third party webservice's QA system.
This is the reason I am defining them in the Visual admin.
This works fine when I use without using default destiation metadata and  execution .
Since I need to move them to QA and at the same time webservice host is also moving to its QA server, I need to change the reference so that my webdynro model points to the QA server where the webservice is pointing.
Please note WebAS QA server where my webdynpro for java program is depoloyed and the WEbservice is hosted in a different server and is a non SAP webservice.
    regards
    PK
