Configurations required for IDOC to File

Can any body suggest me the configuration required for integrating remote R/3 system with the XI Server.
I want to know the following.
1) How and where to configure R/3 with the XI server.
2) What are the configurations required for Outbound and Inbound IDocs in R/3 and XI Servers.

Hi Rajeshwar,
take a look over here:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/sdn/weblogs.sdn?blog=/weblogs/topic/16
you'll find at least 5 weblogs that show the idoc configuration

  • Why is a sender communication channel not required for IDOC and PROXY ?

    Hello,
In case of IDOCs, metadata will be available in PI for the IDOCs used both at inbound and outbound.
Why is a sender communication channel is not required in case of IDOC and PROXY outbound scenarios (i.e. IDOC to File or PROXY to file ..)  when a receiver channel is required for scenarios like file to IDOC or file to PROXY.
Though this might be a regular question, I am not able to find a proper reason.
Please let me know the reason for the above request.
    Thanks & Regards.

You will create RFC destination in ECC , it will have details about PI system details, when ever you send IDoc, ECC will use Port and RFC destination to connect PI Integratiion engine to deliver data to PI.
But when receiver side you will create RFC destination in PI with ECC details, but to call RFC destination and Port we need medium that was the reason we create IDoc communication channel.
Even the same case for Proxy also, but HTTP deastination establish the conection between ECC and PI, but receiver side you have to create XI channel with PI integratioin engine adress to post data.

    I want to know
What are the backend configuration required for photo upload from portal
Can any but help me out
    Rajendra

    Hi,
Are you using the standard iview. If that's the case you need to configure in the backend. Meaning you need to store the photo in the Org management(HR) which the HR functional guys will do. You just need to add the iview to your role.
Let me know if you require further informationn.

  • Integration Directory configurations for IDOC - XI - File

    Hi all,
    I have a scenario as above: IDOC-XI-FILE
The IDOCs come from an R/3 system - NHGDDBS01.
    I've configured 2 BS:
    1) BS_NHGDDBS01
-> TS: NHGDDBS01, type: WebAS ABAP
    -> SWCV: BASIS 6.20
    2) BS_DEV1_NAUTICUS_OOTS
    -> TS: TS_DEV1_NAUTICUS_OOTS, type:Third Party.
-> SWCV: SWCV_DEV1_NAUTICUS_OOTS, type: Third Party
    -> PDT: PDT_NAUTICUS_OOTS
With this setup, can someone help me by showing me how to configure the Integration Directory in order to receive IDoc from R/3 (nhgddbs01)?
    Please help.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    I followed the SAP Note.
The SAP System ID is DV1.
I've configured IDX1 with the following port:
    Port: SAPDV1
    Client:108
    Description: <blank>
RFC_Destination: PI_001 (This RFC destination points to DV1, despite the naming. Connection test is successful)
    I recreated metadata on IDX2:
    IDoc Types: ZPATINFO
    Source Port: SAPDV1
    IDoc Types: ZADMINFO
    Source Port: SAPDV1
However, when I test the message from R/3 using WE17, <b>SM58 on R/3 </b>it's still showing the error:
Transaction IDX1: Port SAPDV1_108, client 108, RFC Destination error.
May I know where did this error occur and how to rectify this?
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

  • Error in TRFC for IDoc to File scenario while sending IDoc

    Hi,
Configured of 'IDoc to file' scenario is completed. Executed a stand alone program to post IDocs to XXI system using a RFC destination with required previleges.
Outbound IDoc has status successful, but it is blocked in the source system and can be viewed in TCode: SM58 (Transaction RFC). The error status is set as ':00'.
When I tried menu item 'Edit>>Execute LUW', I got the status message as 'Function module does not exist or EXCEPTION raised'.
For your information, User used in RFC destination is communication user with SAP_ALL profile(in XXI system).
Can anybody help me out in resoving the error?
    Regards,
    Suraj Kumar

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
It is successfully tested and FYI as the user specified in RFC Destination is a communication user in destination system (XI), it does not have remote logon.
    Hope I am clear.
Please let me know, if you need any further information.

  • Requirements for IDOC

    Hi friends,
Could you please tell me the details required for doign a IDOC scenario.
I want the details seperately when IDOC is a sender and also when IDOC is a receiver.
Note: High reward points for the reply

    HI
IDoc (for intermediate document) is a standard data structure for electronic data interchange (EDI) between application programs written for the popular SAP business system or between an SAP application and an external program. IDocs serve as the vehicle for data transfer in SAP's Application Link Enabling (ALE) system. IDocs are used for asynchronous transactions: each IDoc generated exists as a self-contained text file that can then be transmitted to the requesting workstation without connecting to the central database. Another SAP mechanism, the Business Application Programming Interface (BAPI) is used for synchronous transactions.
A large enterprise's networked computing environment is likely to connect many geographically distributed computers to the main database. These computers are likely to use different hardware and/or operating system platforms. An IDoc encapsulates data so that it can be exchanged between different systems without conversion from one format to another.
IDoc types define different categories of data, such as purchase orders or invoices, which may then be broken down into more specific categories called message types. Greater specificity means that an IDoc type is capable of storing only the data required for a particular transaction, which increases efficiency and decreases resource demands.
An IDoc can be generated at any point in a transaction process. For example, during a shipping transaction process, an IDoc may be generated that includes the data fields required to print a shipping manifest. After a user performs an SAP transaction, one or more IDocs are generated in the sending database and passed to the ALE communication layer. The communication layer performs a Remote Function Call (RFC), using the port definition and RFC destination specified by the customer model. The IDoc is transmitted to the receiver, which may be an R/3, R/2, or some external system.
    Idoc creation
    IDOC Programming
There are two processes in IDOC processing one is INBOUND PROCESS( IDOC coming to the system and its handling at various stages) and the other is OUTBOUND PROCESS( IDOC is send to other system . Separate ABAP programs are written for these 2 processes and different configuration settings are required for each one .Depending upon the trigeering mechanism different programming approaches are used.OUTBOUND PROGRAMS handle the IDOC creation and INBOUND PROGRAMS handle the inbound IDOC and the data trasfer from the IDOC to the database tables.
The basic structure of all outbound programs is same. The CONTROL
record which is of TYPE EDIDC has to be filled. It contains important fields like
    IDOCTP IDOC type
    MESTYP Message Type
    RCVPRN Recieving Partner (Destination)
RCVPRT Partner Type (it is LS i.e Logical System)
The DATA RECORD internal table which is of TYPE EDIDD has to be filled
in the same order as there are segments in the IDOC definition.
It has 2 important fields which are to be filled ,these are
    SEGNAM Name of the segment
SEGDATA Data in the segment and can be upto 1000 bytes. This field
is corresponds to each data segment in the IDOC.
    e.g.
DATA INT_EDIDD LIKE EDIDD OCCURS 0 WITH HEADER LINE.
DATA W_SEGDATA LIKE zsegment "custom segment zsegment
    INT_EDIDD-SEGNAM = 'ZSEGMENT'
W_SEGDATA-field1 = value "taken from some table
W_SEGDATA-field2 = value "taken from some table
    INT_EDIDD-SEGDATA = W_SEGDATA
    APPEND INT_EDIDD
This will fill the data record corresponding to the segment ZSEGMENT . For all
segments the sam steps will be repeated until all the data corresponding to all the
segments in the idoc is filled in the internal table of type EDIDD.
There is only one control record and can be multile data records in the idoc
    structure.
Which data is to be extracted from the tables to be filled in EDIDD type internal table is determined in standalone programs from the objects which are specified in the selection screen and from the object key passed to the function module in case of message control and is taken from BDCP table in case of change pointers using function modules "CHANGE_POINTERS_READ"
In case of stand alone programs and function modules based on change pointers method the function module "MASTER_IDOC_DISTRIBUTE" is used to send the IDOC to ALE layer for distribution ,in case of message control it is handled automatically by the RSNASTED program invoked by the message control.

  • Setup for IDoc-XI-File scenario

    Hi All,
Please provide info where can I find, step by step  documentation for the basic setup on R/3 and XI areas, before start developing IDoc-XI-File or File-XI-IDoc scenarios.
    Thank you,
    Sree

    Hi,
While doing an IDOC -> XI -> File scenario, The Points to noted are:
    1. You don’t need a DT, MT or a message interface for the IDOC as it itself acts as the Message Interface.
    2. You import the IDOC and use the same in your mapping.
    3. In this configuration note that you don’t have a sender agreement as you don’t have a sender IDOC adapter.
If it is that you wanted to send an IDOC from XI (File to IDOC) , then in this case:
points 1 and 2 will remain, but the 3 will not. You will need a sender agreement for the file and a receiver agreement for the IDOC.

To be able to trigger your IDOC from the SAP ISU system, you will have to set the partner profile in we20. Select your Business System (mostly under Logical system) and then create Outbound entries for whichever IDOC you want to trigger.
You define your basic type also in your partner profile settings, Please go thru the following links to get a better idea about partner profile:

  • XI and R/3 System connection settings for IDOC to File scenerio.

    Hi SAP champs,
I am working on a IDOC to File XI scenerio. But I am confused while configuring connection settings at XI system and R/3 system. I am finding problem in transaction IDX2 to maintain the IDOC metadata. Please let me know the complete step by step system cofigurations in XI and R/3 systems for the scenerio. Thanks in advance..
    Regards
    Sanjeev.

    Hi Sanjeev,
We upload Medata in IDX2 to just reduce runtime effort and hence to improve the performance. However it is not a mandetory step to be performed for R/3 TO XI scenario.
You are confused just because here you dont find any F4 help to select the metadata and the PORT.
    Thanks
    Sunil Singh

  • Do we need a sender channel for IDOC to file scenario.

    Hi,
Do we need a sender channel in IDOC to FILE scenario.
Because IDOC is being sent by SAP R/3 System and when creating objects in ID using wizard, it doesn't ask for sender channel.
What is the reason for this?
    Regards,
    Younus

    Younus,
    to add more...
From <b>WAS(Web Application Server) 6.20</b> and above BASIS is not the runtime for SAP.WAS is the runtime for SAP.
And it has got ABAP and JAVA engine in it.
It handles connections made over various protocols such as SMTP for mail, HTTP(S), and SOAP/XML.
    <b>
The SAP Web AS 6.10 did not have a Java engine.</b>
and IDOC and HTTP are present on the ABAP engine and the rest reside on JAVA engine.
and that is the reason why IDOC and HTTP doesnt require Sender Adapter and Sender Aggrement aswell.
    Hope i cleared ur point...
    Cheers,
    Raghavesh
